*2/ That no one can use the word “Twitter” in their domain*

Is this the end for Twitter 3rd party developers?

Have they forgotten that it was people like me who saw a need and built an

I have asked Twitters lawyers for a conference call tomorrow to clear up
‘WHY’ they feel anyone using the twitter API to auto follow people is an

twitter API was built in the first place if they want to sue people for

I`ve tried the DIR-655 (latest firmware is SIP-hostile, and the latest
hardware revisions can't downgrade to the version that worked well) and the
DI-724GU (SIP-friendly, but bandwidth management is automated and not
configurable enough for my taste), both from D-link.

What else is out there and allows me to do upstream QoS on cable/DSL
links? Both D-Link routers were under 200$ (99$ and 159$ respectively) and
were perfect price-wise for my target customers.

Subject: [asterisk-users] Current Open Source Billing Package

After spending a couple hours scanning for an open source (non-
commercial) billing package yesterday I am underwhelmed. Almost all of
the packages listed on the WIKI appear to be defunct, for several
years now. I will be happy to get a login and edit them out if that is
the proper method to do so.

My requirements are very minimal and at this point unless I have
missed something will just write my own.

I do not do calling cards. I have no near term need for the package to
actually talk with asterisk at all, other than to import the CDR
either via files or as a login to MySQL.

I do have monthly recurring charges which need to be included monthly.

I do occasionally have need to one off (manual) billing charges.

Rating for calls would be nice but not mandatory ( we have very
  minimal International).

Ability to export to an accounting package a plus.

Ability to generate hard copy Invoices and/or email them to the cust.

Ability to generate a list of current Invoices.

  Runs on Linux.

All in all not a very complex set of requirements, but the few
packages that seem to be currently offered generally do not fit the
bill. Yes there are many commercial packages, but unless they are very
minimal in cost I have no interest in them.

So my question is, have a missed a golden nugget out there?

You are more than welcome to advertise your system in the –biz
list to your heart's content. I take great pride in making a living in
supporting and selling Asterisk based systems (No I don't want to take a
look at Cogoblue.com ;-) ) but I also respect the fact that the owners of
the list server, the persons that have taken the time to configure and
maintain not only Asterisk but this list server as well, have made it a
 point to segment the lists.

I respectfully ask that you follow the list etiquette and
refrain for using the –users list for commercial pitches and plugs to your
 product.

Thank you for your understanding and I hope to see you in the
 *-biz mailing list.

 That's a big question.

There are *so many* inconsistencies with IE. See
http://www.positioniseverything.net/ for a good accumulated list of many
of the bugs and hacks to try and fix it.

Good designers can usually avoid most of the pitfalls but there comes a
time when you just have to code around it...

Not having used AsteriskNow I don't know the real issues but I'm sure
there is a good reason for not trying to accommodate IE. Firefox is
free, your customer would probably only need it on one or two machines
at the most, and, if they are going with Asterisk, then there shouldn't
be any ethical resistance against using OSS - as long as they know * is
 OSS I guess...

Ok now that is bizarre. Three different sources and two different
destinations. Looks like the only common point would be BV. Sounds like
 your
going to get to spend some time on the phone with BV.

If only phone numbers were trace routable like IP addressed,
to see where the heck my calls are going.

I'd really like to see that feature as well!

2008-03-23 Thread Outback Dingo
Odd i just setup another broadvoice account for a client, using asterisk,
asterisk-gui on FreeBSD 7.x and all worked superbly and they are online.
I even configured everything thru the gui, extensions, dial plans, etc etc
they can even use their HTC Tytn II cell phones to make VOIP calls thru
wireless or HSDPA, no issues with routing or anything.

 Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is the correct mailing list for this (I was going
to send to Asterisk-Biz, but seems more for this one).

Anyway, I'm having more problems with Broadvoice. I still can't get
calls unless I comment out the secret= line in sip.conf, but now I
can't even place test calls to it from my cell phone. When I do, I
get a fax macine. Debugging SIP shows NO call activity what so ever.
This call clearly isn't being directed to my BV number. If I try to
call it using Skype I get the same thing. Calling from a land line I
don't the fax machine, but rather a fast busy signal because my
Asterisk box is rejecting the call.

I'm really a loss at who to contact. I have a feeling if I phone my
cell phone provider they'll blow me off, and I know Broadvoice won't
 even answer my emails.

Has anyone else ever had this happen? I'm in the process of porting
the number over to another company. Any idea if this problem might
 follow me once that's completed?

 Thanks in advance!

Ok well seems there is at least one thing legit, and that is there does
exist a city Albany in NY :) ok nuff joking, first if you want to really be
taken seriously, fix up your web site, you need something a bit more
professional, and you also need a lot more company info on it. Im sorry
but, its about integrity, especially when there are so many out there doing
the same thing, let alone you post from a gmail address instead of a company
address to a NON COMMERCIAL list. So your getting beat up a bit. My
recommendation would be clean up your appearance and provide more info.
Any kid could get a virtual host, and advertise VOIP services.. hell i know
at least one doing it and profiting some from it, hes 15, he also has a
much more professional appaearance in web content.

Let me tell you something i own 200 seats call center, besides have an
  IT
company who develops applications based on asterisk, we are not kid
  just
playing to get some money... so i move millions of min i also
  resell
min to others call centers since 9 months ago now we just open to the
public, so yes we bougth the domain a week ago but this not indicates
  we
are trying to steal or someting that`s why we give a free test so if
  you
liked you take it that`s it.

Again CDS want to apologise to all users to use this channel to send
  this
message it seems to be a improper channel for that.

I would have thought that the Non-Commercial Discussion bit in the To:
field of any response to messages on this list would have given away that
commercial services being offered here won't be met kindly.

And while I can't speak for others here, I've been trained to regard any
telephony services offered from the Dominican Republic as meaning something
ain't right. Maybe you're an honest guy, but your country's reputation
  precedes you, unfortunately.

  Cheers!

But wait, theres more!!! They are interconnected with major US carriers

Re: [asterisk-users] Druid Open Source Edition

id like to know where you believe this is IP infringing every asterisk
management tool has trunks administration, and if you ask me designing
a GUI to manage asterisk trunks doesnt qualify as IP seeing as they all do
exactly the same thing, manage trunks. theres nothing secret here. and
assessing them all, well they all do one thing and thats configure asterisk.

Yes, but this Druid is Opensource and PBXware is not (this is the

Since the *entire* subject IS Druid (Druid Open Source Edition), if I
were going to design a GUI at this point, I would take all the
strongest parts of each GUI. It only makes sense. Many different
people would say, hey that looks remarkably like our reporting,
  provisioning, trunk, CRM integration

So you are saying that is OK to ignore IP (intellectual property)?
