RE: [Asterisk-Users] NAT
Can externalip be a dns-address? Yes, as long as you can ping any address in the Asterisk box (ping yahoo.com) How do I configure the Incoming settings in the siptrunk? I can call out using the trunk but get busy tone when I try to dial in. Use AAH I don't know your provider, but generaly you need to setup the trunk in AAH so it will be suffixed with /YourNumber, you can find an example at: http://samyantoun.50webs.com/asterisk/athome/setup/trunkbroadvoice.htm Also, you need to have a DID Route (Inbound Routing in ver. 2) with your number. __ Yahoo! Re: [Asterisk-Users] How to prevent log files from eating my hard drive?
Somehow, Asterisk log files are consuming all the space that I have in my hard disk... They've already eaten 14GB and are still hungry!! What shall I do? I'm not even logging anything in verbose mode!! Leo, This can be done through editing of /etc/logrotate.d/asterisk. This file contains a script of log rotation. This is a sample file: /var/log/asterisk/*log { missingok rotate 5 weekly create 0640 asterisk asterisk postrotate /usr/sbin/asterisk -rx 'logger reload' /dev/null 2 /dev/null endscript } As you can see, the rotate 5 means that it will keep 5 old files, you can reduce that number to 2 or 3 to save some space. Another thing you can do to save a LOT of space is to change weekly to daily, this way you will keep only ONE DAY of logging data in the file. Third thing you can do is to add compress statement to the script, this will compress the old files. I think if you'll combine those 3 options, you going to have a log files that is almost 10% of what you have now. Regards. Samy Yahoo! Sports Rekindle the Rivalries. YES, it's better to identify the users as Extensions, you can have as many Extensions as you like. 2) what should i use AIX or SIP If all Extensions (Users) will connect from the same network (10.0.0.10. 10.0.0.25 ... etc.), you can use SIP. If the Users will connect remotely (Anywhare at the Internet) IAX is the answer. 3) can my local users have a phone number? They HAVE to. Any user MUST have an extension (Phone number) (lets say im 1112 and i can call to my neighbour on phone number 1113) Yes, in this case you will dial 1113 to talk to your nabour. 4)what soft phone is the most compatible with asterisk A lot of phone are Asterisk compatible, most commonly used SIP phone is xten (www.xten.com), IAX phone is Firefly (www.virbiage.com) IMPORTANT NOTE: I would Hieghly recommend [EMAIL PROTECTED] (http://sourceforge.net/projects/asteriskathome), it's an ISO image of Asterisk with a very nice, easy to use web interface.
