Re: [asterisk-users] MWI not working on most ATAs in Asterisk 1.6.2.17

My testing of 1.6.2.17 as well as the svn branch of 1.6.2 a few weeks
ago indicated that MWI was fairly broken. I managed to get it working
somewhat reasonably on Snom phones with a combination of subscribemwi=no
(despite the fact that the Snom phones subscribe for MWI!?),
pollmailboxes=yes and pollfreq=30 (despite the fact that we have nothing
but Asterisk touching the voicemail files).

In the testing, I managed to get Asterisk to flood the phones with tens
or maybe hundreds of MWI's by simply leaving one voice mail.

No, I have not had time to file bugs, we simply did a fall back to
1.6.0.28 + a lot of patches. It was not the most serious bug anyway; the
larger problem is that Asterisk deadlocks.

[asterisk-users] MWI not working on most ATAs in Asterisk 1.6.2.17

2011-04-06 Thread maillist
We've had several customers report since upgrading them to our new
Asterisk 1.6.2.17 server (from version 1.4), that their MWI no longer
works. No significant changes have been made to their SIP
configuration, nor to their ATA configuration.

While not exhaustive, these are the ATAs that don't work:

Linksys SPA2102
Linksys PAP2T-3.1.15
Thomson 780
Thomson 784

Unfortunately, this doesn't bode well for us, since these represent
the vast majority of our customers. I did manage to find one ATA that
does work without a hitch on the new server, a Sipura SPA2002. Which
of course, is discontinued.

The Thomsons coincidentally, never worked on our old server either,
but they're here because if someone knows how to make them work, we'd
be very happy.

I know that by default, Asterisk will send SIP NOTIFY messages to the
ATA to inform it of waiting messages, and I see those notify messages
being sent, but somehow something goes wrong from there.

Any information about further troubleshooting this problem will be
very welcome.

This message was sent using Lightspeed.ca's Advanced Webmail.

[asterisk-users] MWI not working in 1.4

2006-11-13 Thread Mark Hulber
Before I open a bug I'll ask again if anyone else is having trouble with
receiving MWI on SIP devices in 1.4. My configuration was working fine
in 1.2 but as soon as I change to any build of 1.4 I don't get
notification on any of several SIP devices. I can post my configuration
but since it was working I can only assume it would break if something
in voicemail.conf has changed or sip.conf but current examples appear to
concur with my setup.

From my peer definition:

You probably need to change the bulb.

Double check:
- mailbox=ext@context for your extension in sip.conf
- if your 'home directory' is under /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/context

context is usually 'default'

[Asterisk-Users] MWI not working - using seperate vm and call routers:

2005-12-21 Thread Tim Connolly
I have a pair of servers tied to PRI's which only do SIP/ZAP/IAX
terminations and routing. The IVR/Voicemail is on a separate server which
accepts calls from the front line servers via Iax. I am trying to use the
MWI on our Cisco 7960 phones, which isn't working, but I think its because
the voicemail server doesn't have the phones in its list of sip peers.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this? I tried loading my sipfriends
realtime table on the voicemail server, but since the phones don't ever
register which that particular server, the voicemail server's 'sip show
peers' is always empty.

Any suggestions on how to get MWI working? Is there someway for the
voicemail server to tell the front line server Hey, 1234 has voicemail,
light him up! ?

Thanks
Tim

There is no communication between your SIP registration server and the
voicemail Asterisk. The only way to fix this is to start developing new
code :-)

There are a few methods of doing this without rewriting code... On our
system, we have 2 asterisk servers that actually run the phones, a
voicemail server, and a gateway... whenever a call comes into the
voicemail server, we have an 'h' extension that checks to see if the
person does in fact have voicemail, and then touches or removes a file
in the phone's mailbox on the two primaries, which cause the MWI light
to come on. It's probably considered half-assed, but it works like a
charm for us.

Thanks for the suggestion. That sounds very easy and not much code
involved. Wow.. I just tested that by touching msg.txt and it works
great!

This is a cool solution that should make it into some form of cookbook

RE: [Asterisk-Users] MWI not working on Polycom Phones

2004-12-22 Thread Jared Armstrong

Mine is working fine so far. Issues, #1 make sure the mailbox is just a
numerical value without any context defined in your /etc/asterisk/sip.conf.

In my polycom sip.cfg file I have:
msg msg.bypassInstantMessage=1
  mwi msg.mwi.1.subscribe=8500 msg.mwi.1.callBackMode=registration
msg.mwi.1.callBack=8500 /

Hi All -

I'm running version SIP version 1.3.4 on various IP300, IP500, and
IP600 Polycom phones. I'm having a tough time with MWI. I thought I
remembered somebody on the list saying that they had it working, but I

for MWI as specified in the WIKI:

ipdmid.cfg:
up.oneTouchVoiceMail=1

phone1.cfg:
msg msg.bypassInstantMessage=1
   mwi msg.mwi.1.subscribe= msg.mwi.1.callBackMode=contact msg.mwi.
1.callBack=8500/
/msg

I changed the callBack to the appropriate voicemail box (with context),
but no dice. No lights or indicators are coming on when there is a
message, and pressing the Messages button on the phone just dials the
extension rather than opening the VoicemailMain app. Anybody have this
working? What have I fouled up?

Thanks,
Noah

Re: [Asterisk-Users] MWI not working on Polycom Phones

2004-12-22 Thread Andrei (MPI)
This is working in my phone:
  msg msg.bypassInstantMessage=1
 mwi msg.mwi.1.subscribe=299 msg.mwi.1.callBackMode=contact
msg.mwi.1.callBack=8   /
  /msg

299 is both * extension and mailbox. 8 is special extension to dial from
local phone to check voicemail.

You may want to check voicemail.conf for context to match that extension
with context in sip.conf. I was struggling long enough, before noticed
the different context, then just had put it as [EMAIL PROTECTED] in
sip.conf, while having voicemail.conf with [local].

Yes we have MWI working on IP 500's with SIP software 1.3.1. The only
changes I made to the XML configs were to setup line appearances.

I didn't fool around with MWI at all in the config files.

All I had to do was specify a mailbox= in my sip.conf friend settings, and
it works.

[Asterisk-Users] MWI only working after handset was lifted once

2004-03-18 Thread Oliver Kaven
Hello, All.

I have a bit of a peculiar problem with MWI.

First some basics:

Hardware: PT390 connected to a Digium TDM400P

I included mailbox=100 statement in zapdata.conf and the mailbox is
defined in voicemail.conf.

Everything works OK. I receive VMs, and when I pick up the handset I get
the stutter tone. However, the MWI light on the PT390 ** does not come on
until the handset was picked up once***. After lifting the handset and
returning it to the hook it comes on and indicates correctly if there is a
VM. or not.

Am I missing something?

Oliver
