[Asterisk-Users] Sipura 841 and headset

2005-05-10 Thread David Masure

Hi folks
!

I bought two sipura
841 phones. I used to have GN Netcom headset which I connect instead of
the handset. The problem is that I don't have any sound coming out the
headset and I can't speak neither !

I'am located in
France and I was wondering if the cabling in the sipura and in the headset is
the same (I mean the order of the cables) or maybe is there something else to do
?

Anyone could help me
on that matter ?

Orcan anyone
advise me on headset working with the sipura 841 ?

Thanks

Best
regards

I just use a standard 2.5mm headset that plugs into the small port on the
right side of the phone about 1.5 below the screen. The 2.5mm size plug is
standard for cell phone headsets and cordless phone headsets, at least here
in the USA - dont know about france. The 2.5mm headset works fine on the 10+
SPA-841's that I've used it on (several managers use headsets in my office
with the SPA-841.)

Handset wiring IS non-standard which is why most headset devices have a
set of configuration switches or dials to adapt the unit to different
phones. My Netcom headset (8120) has a little wheel on the base unit
which one rotates until one get audio in both directions.

Would it be too obvious to suggest visiting GN's website for
configuration information on your specific model?

I suspect that only applies to headsets using RJ21 or whatever the
little RJ connector is called and not to 2.5mm headsets.

Agreed. Which is why I was referring to HANDset wiring (the original
author stated he was connecting his headset to the phone in place of the
handset.

The only problem I've had with the 2.5mm headsets is wide variation in
microphone sensitivity.
