The two Asterisk boxes have to register to each other so home server
and clinic have to be on the peers list on both sides (or at min on
one side) and you must see the IP. Make sure you are resolving the
names correctly and that Asterisk is set-up to resolv DNS names or use
the IP instead.

In iax.conf on home_server I have:
register = home_server:1234@192.168.141.1

On a clinic_server I DO NOT have any register entry.
Do I have to register clinic_server to home_server? I was under
impression one way regstration is enough.
Home_server is aready registered to clinic_server.

[asterisk-users] Unable to create channel of type 'IAX2' (cause 20 - Unknown)

I have two asterisk servers connected via iax.
home_server = IAX2 = clinic_server

I'm just testing, calling from home_server via clinic_server but I'm
getting an error message:
Call gets through to clinic_server but will not call back.

exten = 218,n,Hangup

exten = 219,1,Dial(IAX2/home_server/218,30,rw)
exten = 219,n,Hangup

When somebody in a clinic server dials: 218 my phone in home_server is ringing
OK
But when I call extension 219 from home server it should dial my 'home_server'
218 and it does but it gives me an error message:

 Where is the mistake?

Right here

 [local]
 exten = _XX,1,Dial(IAX2/${EXTEN})

You are telling it to dial ALL 10 digit numbers using IAX. What you
need to do is have an extension that determines if a call is meany for
the X100P and if so the dial would be

 exten = _XX,1,Dial(ZAP/1/${EXTEN})

ZAP/1 is your X100p FXO.

Take a good look at http://www.asteriskdocs.org which was entirely
written to help you understand channels, extensions and dialplans.
These are the essential building blocks to get you going.

You will need further knowledge to separate internal extensions from
external phone numbers. Often internal extensions are numbered like
2000,2001,2002...

example
 exten = _2XXX,1,Dial(IAX2/${EXTEN}) ; hand all 4 digit numbers that begin
 with 2

[Asterisk-Users] Unable to create channel of type 'IAX2'

2005-03-12 Thread Androtech
Hi all,
I'm a newbie and I have a configuration problem with Asterisk.
Seems that I'm not able to call an outbound number. I'm quite sure that it
is a configuration problem, but I'm not able to find out where is the
mistake, even reading several docs to www.voip-info.org.
I do not have a good knowledge of Asterisk, I'm not very familiar with its
configuration and I've a big confusion about it.
Any help will be appreciated.

When I try to call outside I got the following message:

 Hi all,
 I'm a newbie and I have a configuration problem with Asterisk.
 Seems that I'm not able to call an outbound number. I'm quite sure that it
 is a configuration problem, but I'm not able to find out where is the
 mistake, even reading several docs to www.voip-info.org.

You didn't read all the messages, see:

-- Executing Dial(IAX2/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/2, IAX2/3479450772) in new
 stack
 Mar 12 16:15:36 WARNING[3149]: chan_iax2.c:2341 create_addr: No such host:
 3479450800
 Mar 12 16:15:36 NOTICE[3149]: app_dial.c:911 dial_exec_full: Unable to
 create channel of type 'IAX2' (cause 3)

chan_iax2 says you have no section in your iax.conf telling it what
3479450772 is, *therefore* it couldn't create the channel.

Always read *all* the messages, especially the first few since they may
indicate something that may cause a failure later.

FWIW, you probably wanted IAX2/target/3479450772.

Hope this helps,

I do not undertand how to tell to Asterisk to use the X100P to dial an
external number instead the internal one. It always calls the internal
extension.
Could someone give me a valid iax.conf and extension.conf examples files.

RE: [Asterisk-Users] Unable to create channel of type IAX2

2005-03-05 Thread Anton Krall
And when it does work, the console says:

Mar  5 02:07:08 NOTICE[9962]: chan_iax2.c:7065 iax2_poke_noanswer: Peer
'akralliax' is now UNREACHABLE! Time: 5
Mar  5 02:07:18 NOTICE[9962]: chan_iax2.c:6420 socket_read: Peer 'akralliax'
is now REACHABLE! Time: 3

The iaxcomm phone is on the same LAN, so why can it be coming and going?

Any ideas?

I don't know if this is still true, but Iax clients had problems when you
check them with qualify (set latter to no)...

Seems sometimes.. Specially with certain iax softphones like iaxcomm...
Seems firefly doesn’t have any problems.
