Re: [Asterisk-Users] X100P and PSTN caller id

2003-06-26 Thread Dan
Hi Andy,

Here FSK mode is used to send CallerID and X100 correctly detect it as it
display my number, but this is not the information I need as CallerID. I
must be something more which must be detected.

Hi,

I have changed the value to 0 and recompile, but the result is the same.
I stil see my own PSTN number as CallerID.

Trying to use another PSTN line with no CallerID service activated, I get as
Caller ID "asterisk".
This means that Asterisk does something anyway.

As it not require to modify the hardware, it is still a chance for us to use

We are with BT and the caller ID informationo is apparently available just
before the first ring. I don't know whether the format of the information
is similar to the U.S. caller ID information.

I found the following define in asterisk/chan_zap.c:

/* Typically, how many rings before we should send Caller*ID */
#define DEFAULT_CIDRINGS 1

But it talks about sending caller ID, not receiving from the FXO.

I think the problem is more fundamental than this. The state machine in
the X100P assumes that nothing at all happens before a ring - so it will
simply ignore everything (eg UK caller ID tones) until it gets that first
ring to wake it up. Handling UK caller ID needs a re-write of the X100P
driver.

As everything is under software control in X100P, then for sure must be a
way to solve it...
Even in UK they are several CallerID protocols used.

Check:
http://www.ainslie.org.uk/callerid/cli_faq.htm
You will see there even the type of CallerID supported by different fixed
and DECT phones available in UK.

Just an example. I have a Philips Onis2 Memo DECT (UK version) which does
not show anything on my PSTN line and is stated that it supports BT type
CallerID only.
On the other side, X100P shows my own number, so it does something, but not
all

Hi Andy,

Did you get something as callerid?
I get allways my own PSTN number.
Talking with a friend who sells CallerID devices, he told me that his
devices display only my number for this type of PO (Siemens) and I need
other type of CallerID to display mine.

Hi,

chan_zap.c is a big file.
I would be nice to have something like in Cisco ATA186.
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/ata/ataadmn/ata8mgcp/mgcpaape.htm#1023728

In that way you can use it allmost everywhere in the world, just by changing
a parameter.

Thanks,

You're right. Sorry for that.

I have it exactly like that from the begining.
Nowhere(I repeat: NOWHERE) in my configuration files is something written
about my PSTN number.
It takes it from the X100P interface, this is for sure.
I have a CIDCO standalone callerid device which sows the same, my PSTN
number for all the received calls, but on my Siemens Gigaset DECT the
callerid is correct.
What else can be done?
It seems to be two different standards here, one for the Alcatel and
Ericsson and one for Siemens and Goldstar (like mine).
Someone else in Europe with this kind of problem?
Other suggestions?

Thanks,
Dan

2 things,
1st. Dont start a new thread by changing the subject of an ongoing
thread unless it is related and just to reflect the direction the thread
is moving. It is easier to click on the list mail link and start the
fresh email than click reply and edit out all that is there already.

2nd. Your problem is probably because you have defined callerid for your
X100P as your PSTN number. Place this line before the channel number for
your X100P.
callerid=asreceived

[Asterisk-Users] X100P and PSTN caller id

2003-06-25 Thread Dan
Hi all,

I have an X100P card which works fine with Asterisk, but I have some
problems with the caller id.
When someone calls me from the PSTN, I see as a callerid my own PSTN number.
There is a specific setting for this type of CallerID in order to be used
with X100P?

Thank you,
Dan
