Can you (or anyone else out there) tell me how to fix this? Basically what happened was I tried to log into the web interface (ip address allocated by sbs dhcp using mac address) but when I hit login it rebooted and has been doa since then). I checked using MS sbs network monitoring all it seems to be doing is asking for a ARP Rarp request to 67.153.142.69 The other thing is it thinks it is ip address 192.168.1.160 but that isnt even part of my network. Any thoughts on what to do from here? The lcd display is totally non responsive. Hi Sjaak, Sorry I'm not sure what you mean by this? I cant see the dns via the lcd (lcd display non responsive) and unable to log in via web address of 192.168.0.160 either. Hi Dean, have you tried to set up a testbed network which responds to the odd IP addresses and if it is trying to contact a TFTP server? Do you know what the last known config of the bt102 was ? Try connecting the phone with crossover utp cable to a computer, set the ip number of that computer to 67.153.142.69 and 192.168.0.159, setup a tftp server on it, and on the next reboot the phone should get the firmware or you'll be able to sniff more info on what it wants. regards, Vahan dean collins wrote: Hi Sjaak, Sorry I'm not sure what you mean by this? Ive had similar problems with grandstream phones. They lock up for no apparent reason and after that no matter what you do they are dead. I must of sent back 15 so far like this. I tried by adding that scope to my sbs2003 network but it doesn't actually do anything (though I'm probably doing it wrong) I'm way out of my depth here technically. Does anyone on this list have 2003 server experience and know how I can intercept it's arp-rarp request? You might want to run a packet trace on it and see if it's trying to do anything. So it's alive and trying to do something? That is good. I read a post earlier which someone had created in reply to your original post. They suggested that what you were seeing indicated the phone had come up at factory defaults and was trying to contact a TFTP server. The advice was something along the lines of: 1) figure out what network the phone thinks it's on 2) determine which IP address the phone is trying to connect to 3) match that address in a system of yours that has a TFTP server 4) fire up the TFTP server and ensure the files that the grandstream phone would want are available. What are those files? I don't know - but I would imagine that information would be available from Grandstream, or in the wiki, or such. Bommon line: the fact that your phone is asking for help is a very good thing, so do not give up! Sorry I don't have more for you, but I don't really know anything specific about the Grandstram phone. If you connect the phone to your Windows 2003 server using a crossover cable, and /add/ 67.153.142.69 as an IP address to any NIC (so your machine now has two IP addresses - 192.168.0.x and 67.153.142.69), and then enable Routing and Remote access with one of the default configurations (router is in there somewhere...???), any request that goes via the 2003 machine to the 67.x IP address will be handled by the 2003 machine. Once the phone has a route to that address, it can begin to do its thing. You can grab the latest GS firmware from http://www.hellofone.com/downloads.html. Place that in the root directory of your TFTP server, and reboot the phone. Should be OK from there. If you have another desktop, you can test the resolution by putting it on a 192.168.0.x address and performing a tracert to the 67.x IP address. Well, depending on your OS you should be able to find the TCP/IP setting of your network card. Under w2k or XP you can find you network card under something like START - SETTINGS -NETWORK CONNECTIONS and in there you should have a network icon showing your NIC. And when you open its settings you will find the TCP/IP parameters. And there throw in this address 67.153.142.69 and 192.168.0.1 as well and give it a netmask of 255.255.255.0 . Make sure that routing on this machine is enabled as well. Your will find instructions and most recent GRANDSTREAM firmware for download e.g. here http://www.mammutprojekt.de/wlan/1022.html (Sorry, the instructions are in German only, but you will find a TFTP-server and the firmware ...) Hopefully your knowledge of German will guide you ;-) ... Otherwise, install the TFTP server and configure it, that the GRANDSTREAM firmware files are in the TFTP server root directory ... And then, boot your phone when connected via a X-RJ45-cable to this PC ... In the window of the TFTPD you should see that the GS102 will get its new firmware and a few seconds later it will be alive again ...
