I'm not hiding anything from this user group. Buy a Cisco gateway and put in you own T38 network together. I can't respond that fast to the hundreds of emails I've receive. All I'm saying is if you want T38 now then buy our service. If not, then wait for the Asterisk community to release it. If you want to speed up the process then help develop the code. T38 is not for a beginning programmer. I posted this to help the people who are under a gun to get something working now. It will be great when the real Asterisk developers release it. We're waiting just like you but in the mean time don't flame me for informing the group about something that can help them. OK. I called the guy and this is basically the jist: Get a T38 enabled ATA. There are now many out there with firmware upgrades to enable T38. Get a Cisco 5300 (or some other gateway that supports T38). Register ATA with asterisk. Turn on reinvites for the UA. Make a call from the ata and have the call then Dial([EMAIL PROTECTED]). Asterisk will re-invite the ATA and 5300 so the audio is passed directly between them. *bing* T38 faxing. What this guy is offering is basically the use of his 5300 at 2 cents a minute to terminate. By joining this mailing list I gave consent to rec'v emails relating to "Non Commercial discussion" of "Asterisk", note the "non commercial" bit? I got that from the actual name of this list. So... The question is, does the original post fit that description? If the Answer is "YES" then it _IS NOT_ spam, if the answer on the other hand is "NO" then it _IS_ spam. Personally, I believe that the email is Commercial, and so is spam. Further, I follow a strict code of "Never buying a product from a spammer, or a product that was advertised to me in a spam" I am also a BOFH [1] and generally take extra time to track down spammers and have their ISP made aware of their behavior, as I add the spammer to several RBL. As I understand it, you sent non-Asterisk-related commercial announcement to the Asterisk Users' mail list. What made you think that that wouldn't be considered to be Spam? I obviously can't comment on your service, as I'm unlikely to become a customer. I think you are being a bit tough here. I think the message was well meaning and well intended. You blasted voipsupply for not providing CDs that were "OBVIOUSLY SUPPOSED TO BE THERE" on a public forum instead of cooling your heels for a little while and waiting for an answer a couple weeks back, and now this... "werd, yo... we gots teh t.38, msg me for teh skinny." If that doesn't SOUND spammish or the least bit weird then I don't know what does... I mean if you've got something that works for your customers that is great news for those who need it. Why not post a marketing release to -biz instead of trying to sneak one by us in here? Michael, Here are some of the reactions to your original post on the T38 FAX thingy: 1) Why the big secret? Why not post your solution to the list? 2) It's probably just another one of those nasty closed source add-ons for sale. 3) I'm guessing it has nothing to do with *. Probably MAX TNT, Cisco, or some other soft-switch. In other words, nothing new. You have not answered any of those questions, but here you are accusing someone as un-professional. Why don't you answer their questions first and then we all can decide if your post was a spam or not. I guess the point Kevin was making was that whilst your post wasn't advertising a l0w m0rtg4g3 r4t3 or selling v!ag.rAah... it was still touting a commercial service on a non-commerical mailing list... After all, just take a look at the To: header on each post to the list :) asterisk-biz would have been a suitable vehicle for your posting - but of course it wouldn't have reached 10,000 subscribers :) Cheers, Gavin. ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

Re: [Asterisk-Users] Full T38 sip Faxing now Available
The T38 service offered by this person has nothing to do with Asterisk, they want you to use their own system, and pay them for service. As far as I did understand, you need do install a custom firmware onto your ATA (only a limited number of ATAs are supported). Personally I don't think that the original post has anything to do with the purpose of this mailing list, as you cannot USE that service with ASTERISK.
