Re: [asterisk-users] Fax Blast over IP?
Whats the diffrence between sending and recieving. We have a box in our providers building (a few racks over). They send the calls via g711u and it works great. If he is in a good dc it can work for him. - Original Message - From: Lee Howard [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, April 12, 2007 7:59 PM Subject: Re: [asterisk-users] Fax Blast over IP? Re: [asterisk-users] Fax Blast over IP?
Fax over G711u works.. but it's touchy... when our customers ask us if we support it we say yes and no.. and then explain that they can use it.. and fax away all they want, but if they have issues we don't support it.I've personally dialed-up to our modem bank from home using G711unice solid connection too! However, if your connection gets any jitter... bye bye dial-up/fax. On 4/13/07, Dovid B [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Whats the diffrence between sending and recieving. This is exactly my experience with it working for a telephony service provider that provides wholesale VoIP platform and CPE for customers and works primarily over the Internet at large, rather than dedicated links. It kind of works, except when it doesn't. But on a LAN environment, in general I think it is quite usable for analog call transport as long as the core is gigabit and there's some rudimentary QoS. -- Alex -- Alex Balashov [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ --Bandwidth and Colocation provided by Easynews.com -- asterisk-users mailing list To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users

Very much so... we actually have a fax machine up here in our NOC running on g711u attached to an ATA, works fine. Yes! Re: [asterisk-users] Fax Blast over IP?
I have some customers that come in via SIP on a T1 and then we drop their calls off on a PRI. They can fax with about a 98% success rate using an ATA-SIP over a T1-Ethernet- Asterisk - PRI-PSTN. As long as the fax machine can negotiate 9600 baud it will work. We have a customer doing this and there is one place they can not fax and it's because the fax machine at the other end will not negotiate a speed lower than 14400 baud. -Jonathan Matt wrote: Very much so... we actually have a fax machine up here in our NOC running on g711u attached to an ATA, works fine. Basically, I want to send bulk faxes to a list of my clients. It is time consuming for a person to individually fax so a blast type solution seems best. Over IP is of course to save money... Either analog modems or a PRI, and Hylafax for automation, no VOIP involved there. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Wiley Siler Sent: Thursday, April 12, 2007 10:08 To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: RE: [asterisk-users] Fax Blast over IP? Re: [asterisk-users] Fax Blast over IP?
No entirely true.. but yeah realizing we are talking about asterisk .. you can't do reliable T38 faxing.. check out openpbx its embeded , all you need then is a ITSP to do TDM termination as T38 A bit more expensive then voip.. but you still get the bulk /automation part without the requirements and financials to get pri's Let me know what you decide to do.
