@turtlepower, the glasses thing seems pretty ridiculous to me; if theyre comfortable then by all means wear them. If youre not being noticed or talked to much to begin with, it cant hurt, and Im pretty sure a person whos not used to talking to blind people will probably go on something other than eye contact to make an internal judgement of trustworthiness. Seems kind of like the opposite of what the NFB does: hiding folding canes because apparently its respectable to be blind... absolutely ridiculous. I am not proud of my blindness; seems like a pretty stupid thing to be proud of, nor am I ashamed of it, and Id hate to have people come up to me not knowing Im blind, would probably make things a bit awkward for them. @Jo, welcome to the forum, and no, youre not being offensive at all; I think itd be a lot harder to come across as offensive here than not, youd really have to work at it.   others on here as well, hate it when people attempt to be super politically correct around us, example when talking about movies, constantly asking whether Ive listened to it instead of watched, making a point not to use the word see and such. Im sort of new here myself; Ive been a lurker since 2011 or so and registered about 2 years ago, but have only recently really started posting. Feel free to ask any questions or start topics, everyones pretty cool here. Anyway, those are all good tips, I should probably find some tool or opeth shirts (two bands I like) and wear them more, only ones Ive seen online though are pretty expensive. As for talking to people, its normal not to know what to say at first, so dont feel too bad about it. Hi Wanderer, thanks for your hints, now I can go to the menus also in firefox.Settings of orca are in: /home/your-user/.local/share/orca/user-settings.confUsing Firefox, in some web pages, if I navigate with Arrow Keys, orca dont read all elements and to make read it I have to go using tab. Is there some tecnic to can listen all elements? Ive tried to press p to read next paragraph but is the same with Arrow Keys.Also I am asking if there is some setting to improve the responsiveness of Orca(not the speed rate). Ambro, regarding Firefox make sure Caret Browsing is enabled. You can enable and disable it with f7, and by answering yes to the prompt to enable Caret Browsing. That may be why you arent getting as much information on some web pages as you should.As for improving Orcas performance there isnt much you can do there. Part of the performance issues you are experiencing could be because Orca is written in Python which is known to have some performance issues compared to languages like C or C++. Another issue is that older versions of At-Spi and the rest of the accessibility framework had some lag issues which they have been trying to fix in newer versions of At-Spi and ATK. Well, people have already seen my review on the game. I can understand why Seal reviewed it the way he did, there are a lot of things I want to see in games as well. There are a lot of games Id absolutely love to play, like Diablo, Skyrim and Fable, as well as pretty much any JRPG ever made. But the fact of the matter is, we cant play those games, and our only options for seeing them are either to watch a playthrough or get someone sighted to play with us. I suppose for some of them we can fumble around and try to play, but that seems even less appealing to me. So personally, this game gave me an experience I have never had before. Ive beaten a few good RPGs with my brother when we were younger, Ive fought some battles on RPGs and played some fighting games. I even completed Dissidia: Final Fantasy on my own, only needing help equipping abilities. But Shadow Line is the first real JRPG that I was able to win with no help from anyone sighted at all.  f that, the storyline and the ending especially are so impressive that theyre easily on par with some mainstream games Ive seen. Id go so far as to compare them to Final Fantasy, but theyd need a little more character development for that I think. And even though there are some things Shadow Line is missing, like strategic bosses and weapon combos, it doesnt need all that complexity. I did forget about the soldiers, and probably some other things as well. But I guess my question is, what exactly would you do? Even Final Fantasy VII isnt that complex, especially not in terms of combat. You have a few characters, a few minigames, a semi-realtime combat system and some things to collect, and of course shops. But the focus was definitely on the plot and character development, and its regarded as one of the greatest RPGs of all time. Im sure that the guys over at Galaxy Laboratory will get better in time and make even cooler games in the future. So even if you find one of the people who gets offended when you acknowledge that the only obvious thing to start with is their disability, theres a chance theyll be angry rather than depressed (and if they get depressed by it, they were probably heading that way already?). Angry sucks, and upsetting people sucks, but isolation really, really sucks. Besides, a conversation about the surface things can lead to conversations about more personal things for both participants, and thats how friendship happens. Since you are at position 2, you will want to make sure you are at position 1 whenf alling so you land on it. Hey folks. Yeah Bladestorm, the game as it is can not, or at least should not have an online multiplayer version. But I can see a final result being like the game called Perfect World. Be reading the dialogs during the game I could imagine how would be to live as a simple person in that world without a magical sword that carries the fate of everything. Len for example is another good example of that. She could fight some monsters by herself without the need of the Lasthope. Do you mean the quest to kill Ahpuch? If you go to the waypoint in the stony field, then head east, youll find a cave. Enter the cave and explore it. About halfway through the cave system (its pretty big) youll find Ahpuch. Kill him and get the key, then keep going through the cave until you reach the trash heap and the chest. With the swipes in papa1 and nightjar, one problem I always found was that I never seemed to get the degree of turning right, I either turned too much or not enough, with either a complete swipe or just a little touch, frequently Id be hammering away at the swipe trying to turn myself away from an incoming nasty so I can run in the right direction, indeed this combined with the fact thatsomethinelses muffled audio for stuff behind you isnt always as clear as it should be is why Ive not yet got pastthe cargo hold level with the flame thrower in nightjar,  I can get all the eggs but Lways end up running the wrong way when going for the exit door which is a little frustrating, actually I wonder if gyro would make that sort of challenge easier.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=173398#p173398

Yeah I kind of agree with Death. Both would be cool, but seeing as its the equivalent of the Game Boy version . . . Also, I found out more details on the rival battle crashing bug I had posted earlier. Though I still cant get an error message, it seems to be specific to level 8 Pokémon. So if you beat rivals first Pokémon with a level 8, or if you dont beat it with a level 8 but you have another Pokémon in your party that is level 8, fainted or not, the game will crash. If you only have one Pokémon which is not at level 8 and you beat rivals Pokemon with it, or if you have multiple Pokémon in your party but none of them are at level 8, the game does not crash. This issue appears to only apply if you choose No when prompted to switch. If you switch after beating the first Pokémon, even if both your Pokémon are level 8, the game does not crash. The glasses thing is a load of ass. Anyone put off by whatever they see with you not wearing glasses has a very high likelihood of not being worth while. I had to gently read a former boss the Riot Act when she sought to force me to wear sunglasses by asking her if she would be wearing miniskirts to work so as to conform to male stereotypes? I would probably do it differently today being twenty years older, but its still a load of ass. Which is entirely different of course from wearing sunglasses due to light sensitivity issues. Yeah, the sunglasses I wear are prescription strength, so I probably dont have too many options when it comes to what type I wear. Which, honestly, is fine by me, because the alternative is a lot worse.If youd asked me what I would have done 10 years ago, though, thats a whole other story. I think I would have rather suffered every day than stand out. When I went to public school, people would always make a point of deliberately stepping into my path so that I would hit them accidentally with my cane, just so they could either threaten me or tell a teacher about how I purposely whacked them a lot harder than what really happened so I would get in trouble. Of course, the teachers always believed other students; no one wanted to stick up for a blind kid. Besides that, the only other blind person in my school district also happened to have Aspergers, and he was prone to violence and rage. I think that some of the teachers compared the two of us, and that
 s also why they believed what those kids were saying. Alternatively, large groups of people would congregate either in the doorways or on the sidewalks at the beginning or end of the day, and they would be so engrossed in talking to each other that I would, inevitably, manage to tap someone while trying to navigate around them. The girls would usually squeal when this happened, and I would get some kind of nasty comment about how I would get what I deserved for hitting someones friend. Well, I knew I needed the cane; I was never someone who denied that. I have shadow perception, but honestly, I know that I cant walk around in unfamiliar or crowded environments without using a cane. So what I would try to do to compensate during that time was to draw it in as close to me as I could, even when not in a crowd, which caused me to run into stuff and my mobility instructors would always criticize me, saying, you look a lot worse when you run into things than you do
  when you accidentally hit someone with your cane. One teacher actually told me that I couldnt expect to make friends if I was constantly bumping into things! I looked like a liability that way, apparently, not a potential friend. I suppose it makes sense now, looking back on it, but surely she could have found a more delicate way of putting it.My only true regret about my appearance that was directly caused by being afraid of what people would think of me is that, even though I very much needed them, I refused to get braces when I was a kid. My parents tried everything--belittling me, having the dentist talk to me, grounding me, you name it, they tried it. But I stood firm, thinking that, if I had braces, the bullying would only get worse. I wish now that I hadnt been so stubborn about that fact, though, because, well, an adult with crooked teeth is a hell of a lot less respected than a kid with braces. If only Id known that. Although they havent
  said it lately, my parents have been known to bring up that fact and tell me how I brought it on myself. nah you have to fall to the platform. Have you learned about the surface camera? Hold g and press arrow keys to explore the surfaces around you. A high pitched dual-tone beep means empty space, and a lower pitch solid beep means theres a wall. Walls also are the same as platforms sometimes. If you press g-down arrow from where you are you should hear a platform sound, to show that you are actually standing on a platform and not just empty air. But then if you navigate left along the platform with your camera, you should hear an empty air space. Once you do you can navigate down with your camera to see how far the drop is to the next platform. TurtlePower: yes, the shades will look stereotypical if you dont bother to get a pair that fit your face and over all style. I also agree with you that people who are put off talking to you because of something superficial like lack of eye contact probably arent worth your time. However, part of living in this fast paced world and maximizing your networking potential is talking with lots of seemingly worthless people. I once turned a chance encounter on the subway into a lucrative contract, and it all started with a random stranger coming out of their shell enough to ask some blunt blindness related questions. TheMadViolinist: My shades are an integral part of my wardrobe and nobody, family included has said anything about them. As I said in a previous post, I found based on many hours of experimentation that people as a whole are less awkward around me with the shades than without them. Lol, it probably helps that Im always wearing leather jackets and an ear bug

Well, thats just it. I think that, far too often, people join the NFB seeking to fill a void in their lives. Dont misunderstand me here; the NFB isnt to blame for this, human psychology is. People join churches for the same reason. Then they devote their entire lives to the cause, losing themselves in the process, and trying to convert others to their newfound freedom. Take note of all the times I put quotes around words in that paragraph, because, frankly, I think thats unhealthy, whether were discussing an organization of the blind or a sect of Christianity.I feel that the NFB should be discouraging this kind of behavior in its members. Christian churches, at least, have the excuse that the Bible teaches one to be dependent on God, and that any straying from that is sinful and so on. But the NFB is trying to encourage independence. I feel that any kind of conversion tactics, not to mention the emotional, rat
 her than logical, reasoning that some members I have encountered have used to try to get me to join, are directly counterproductive to a strong, independent, self-reliant image. I dont consider it a mark of a stable individual if they are literally preaching to me about convention speeches, bursting into tears and telling me over and over about how much the NFB has changed their life, and how I should stop being skeptical and join. Yes, this happened to me once, and this was the first conversation that I had with the individual in question. Lest you think Im passing judgment on unstable or mentally ill individuals, I assure you that Im not--Im not exactly a posterchild for well-being myself--but that kind of thing will make me back up real fast. Less extreme, but equally irritating, things have happened to me as well in regards to conversion by several different belief systems and organizations. I guess I just dont respond to that kind of th

man Im never gonna complete 7.2 rofl, that things hard. I cant figure out where many of the crystals are. sometimes I fall and grab some, and sometimes I can jump back up to a platform, but thats rare. usually after falling I cant get back up, and then I cant tell where the stupid crystals are after I fall. Ive a feeling Im missing some of the in game keys for some reason. does anyone know a list of all keys and what they do? I tried hitting mostly every key, but there could be combinations and such Im not aware of and thus Im making game way more difficult for myself. like this whole camera thing for instance, Im so glad someone pointed this out when I first got the game, else I wouldve been stuck bad not knowing I could even use sucha thing. then I keep hearing of an object locater, but I havnet been able to figure out how to use it. if the keys are listed in the read me, and someone was able to transl

Here is one I did to Dope - No Way Out. This was a recording done by Drew explaining a bug, but I figured this would make a great trailer. I caught a lot of crap doing this, but thought it well worth it to make and post. This is the only one Ive done for Swamp. My audio production normally is way better than this, so thats probably why I caught so much flack. Hehehehe!
