Re: MBraille anyone? There is also another app similar to mBraille and BrailleTouch. It's probably more like mBraille, only this one is free.it's called BrailleTexts (EN) and it supports many languages. When I tried it I found it a bit slow entering text. There are also minor things to get use to, such as capital being dots 4 6 instead of dot 6, but if you don't mind that, it's another free alternative.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=173794#p173794 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Adventure At C:
Re: Adventure At C: The problem with screen reader support is that, as far as I know, the screen reader APIs don't provide any way to find out when the speech has finished. So if you have something which needs to be said, then something else needs to start, you need to know when the speech has finished so you can know when to start the other thing, be it a sequence of enemies, a minigame, a timed event, etc. Without this information, you can't know when to start the other thing, so you have to end up estimating, which is problematic since different users have different speech synthesizers speaking at different rates.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=173783#p173783 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: help finding people to discuss something with For those who want it, I converted all of the existing transcripts to plain text format, to make them easier to deal with. You can find them on sendspace here:https://www.sendspace.com/folder/kh6m1cNote that this is still uploading. The folder is like 3.65 GB, so it could take a while. Also included are vocal-only audio versions of each episode. I'm currently watching MLP via netflix, so I have no idea if those are useful or not. Once my torrent finishes, I'll do real full-audio rips for everyone who doesn't need the video. But the torrent is going to take 3 weeks, so don't hold your breath. Unless someone can tell me how to easily rip the audio out of Netflix? I have send space pro, so that folder isn't going anywhere, and I'll keep it up to date. So feel free to share and enjoy. [Audiogames-reflector] May-01-2014 Ai Squared and GW Micro Join Forces
May-01-2014 Ai Squared and GW Micro Join Forces May-01-2014Manchester, Vermont and Fort Wayne, Indiana (May 1, 2014) - Ai Squared, the maker of ZoomText and sitecues; and GW Micro, the creator of Window-Eyes, have merged into one company. With this merger, the companies will combine their talents to better assist computer users who are blind or visually impaired.ZoomText is the world's number one screen magnifier and text-to-speech software package that allows people who are visually impaired to use a computer with ease. Window-Eyes is a popular screen reader that enables people who are blind to be fully independent on the computer by translating visual information into speech and/or Braille."Our mission is to provide a full family of computer accessibility solutions for users who are low vision or blind, whether they access digital information via their desktop, the web or their mobile device," said David Wu, CEO of Ai Squared. "Earlier this year, we commercially launched sitecues, a product which enables website owners to build accessibility tools right into their websites. Today's merger with GW Micro rounds out our mantra of 'We've got accessibility covered' - with our combined forces, we can now deliver an even wider range of computer access solutions."The need for assistive technology continues to grow. According to the World Health Organization, over 285 million people in the world are considered visually impaired; 39 million of those are blind, and 246 million have moderate to severe visual impairments. "The merger of Ai Squared and GW Micro brings together two companies that offer great solutions for the millions of Microsoft customers around the world who are blind or visually impaired," said Rob Sinclair, Chief Accessibility Officer at Microsoft."We are also delighted that Ai Squared will continue to develop and support the Window-Eyes for Office Offer as many of our customers rely on this screen reading solution to enable access to Windows, Office and other Microsoft products," Sinclair said.Dan Weirich, Co-founder of GW Micro and now Vice President at Ai Squared, said he is thrilled to incorporate Window-Eyes into the Ai Squared product family.“It’s a natural fit,” Weirich said. “Combining our companies will strengthen Ai Squared’s global presence in the assistive technology industry, allowing us to serve even more customers.”Weirich noted that many customers using web and computer accessibility tools inevitably progress further along the visual impairment spectrum during their lifetime. As a result, they will require more advanced assistive technology as their needs change. With the merger, Ai Squared will be in a better position to assist those customers, developing products that provide a seamless transition and user experience as customers adapt to their changing vision.Ai Squared will continue to offer Window-Eyes and its related products as they were previously offered by GW Micro. In addition, a free and fully featured version of Window-Eyes will continue to be available via the Window-Eyes Offer for Users of Microsoft Office as part of the recently announced partnership with Microsoft and GW Micro. The GW Micro team will remain in Indiana as part of the Ai Squared team, which is headquartered in Vermont.About Ai Squared: Ai Squared (www.aisquared.com) has been the worldwide leader in assistive technology solutions for people who are visually impaired for over 20 years. [Audiogames-reflector] Apr-28-2014 GW Micro Expands Its Accessibility Services
Apr-28-2014 GW Micro Expands Its Accessibility Services FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEFort Wayne, IN (April 28 2014) – GW Micro (www.gwmicro.com) announced today that it has expanded its services beyond software and hardware for people who are blind or visually impaired. It will now be offering services to organizations who are required to develop, procure, maintain and use electronic and information technology (EIT) that is accessible to people with disabilities. GW Micro’s accessibility services will also be available to any person or organization who is interested in making their websites, documents or software accessible and compliant with Section 508 standards, the Americans with Disability Act (ADA), or the internationally recognized Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.Many organizations are required by law to have accessible EIT as mandated by Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the ADA. “We continue to see an increasing demand for accessible websites, software, and documents,” said Dan Weirich, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for GW Micro. “There are few companies who have the knowledge and experience to help resolve these issues, and we know GW Micro can fulfill this need.” GW Micro develops and sells a screen reader, Window-Eyes, which makes the computer accessible via speech and Braille to a person who is blind or visually impaired. Weirich noted that GW Micro is the only screen reader company to provide these services. “Many times, organizations will be required to do testing and determine if their website can be accessed by a screen reader user, and since we develop the technology, this is a great fit.”The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) has recommended GW Micro as a Web Accessibility Consultant (WAC). “We are excited to see GW Micro add their expertise to this area of the marketplace,” said Anne Taylor, Director of Access Technology for the NFB. “We have had a long-term relationship with GW Micro and are happy to recommend them to organizations that need to ensure they are compliant.”Parties interested in receiving a free initial consultation can call GW Micro at (260) 489-3671 or email accessibil...@gwmicro.com. Re: [Audiogames-reflector] Training Centers
Re: Training Centers Well said. I vaguely recall my brother being offered NFB scholarships several years ago, which he rejected. Some of the NFB's tactics are certainly not to be taken lightly. I too, have met and heard about a few level-headed Federationists but it seems the majority of them are still hard-core. I recall a phone conversation I had several years ago with a member of the NFB of Illinois who seemed to be pretty level-headed. She was talking about the guy who was their chapter president at the time, and she said he was pretty much a jerk. It just seems that a lot of NFB members still to this day have a "one-size-fits-all" mentality, and I'm sorry folks but that's not how the world works. But on the other hand, I think the Federation has done some good things. An example is Newsline. I've been subscribed to the service for several years. Although I've never been much of a news junky--particularly in lieu of all this violence and hatred--I love Newsline. I was listening to the episode of Eyes on Success yesterday with Scott White, the director of Newsline. He mentioned that 4 states are not registered due to funding. I really hope this situation can be remedied very soon. Well, I'd better get my dishes and grocery list done before my life-skills tutor gets here, or else I'm in deep sh*t. I'm outa here!BryanP wrote:Well said Turtlepower. Re: [Audiogames-reflector] I have no passion in life
Re: I have no passion in life I've often felt that music is a good thing. I previously took piano, celllo, and guitar lessons but stopped for various reasons. But I have a Yamaha keyboard here in my apartment. I had an analog one when I still lived with my parents, but that one had some broken keys. So my parents got me this one a few years back as a Christmas present. It is digital and the display things aren't accessible, but I still enjoy playing it. I was in a mini-band with some former neighbors. But they have since moved out of my building, and we have disbanded. Pun intended. But music is awesome.wanderer wrote:I've been trying to pick up piano off and on for a while now, but keep getting confused over some of the concepts they try and describe, like half and wholesteps. I think I may end up looking to take actual lessons if I don't find something that works soon. Most of the youtube videos I've found on beginning piano focus on simple chords for accompanyment, which isn't really what I'm looking for. I haven't gotten involved in anything done by my school since I've been here, I might try for something next year, which will be my senior year. Speaking of which, I'm trying to figure if I should go to my prom coming up in about 2 weeks. I guess the junior and senior proms are supposed to be those classic high school experiences, to make memories and whatever, but it's assumed you have some friends to experience it with, which I do not. I'd probably just end up standing around doing nothing the whole time, and the crowds of hundreds of people really wouldn't help, as I'd hardly be able to hear anything, and I cannot dance at all, assuming anyone would want to dance with me. Ah well, probably won't have anything better to do that day, may as well. Re: [Audiogames-reflector] I have no passion in life
Re: I have no passion in life @slj no, my hearing loss is just bad enough to be a huge nuisance, but isn't too bad, as long as I have hearing aids in. Most of the blind people I knew when I attended my state blind school are people I don't really care to associate with, and I am not going to reach out to people simply because they happen to be blind or have a hearing loss, I'd much rather find people I have something in common with as an individual, like enjoying a certain type of music or book or something. @Cae so, did you just learn by playing by ear? I can do that up to a point, but not very well with chords and harmonies and such. I'm never going to be a pianist, but it's a nice hobby and it'd be awesome if I could learn to play something like this, for example.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJpAIOFN5WQ@everyone I also agree that humor is critical. I participate pretty actively in classes, and joke around ab out blindness a bit; on a few occasions I've actually had one or two people come up and talk to me after saying something that made people laugh. The other day I did a really short presentation on building a desktop computer, and I'm told that people were actively looking at and making eye contact with me, so I'm probably not too bad in that regard.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=173754#p173754 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: help finding people to discuss something with This has nothing to do with the thread up to this point, but I just had to share! Last night, I had the strangest My Little Pony related dream, and woke up to write a bit of it, as I usually do. I have kept a dream journal for about 13 years now, and am to the point where I remember to write about almost all of my dreams. Apparently, my brain loves crack fanfic so much that it's now generating it for me while I sleep. First, some background. I sleep with my laptop next to my bed, so often, when I am having trouble sleeping, or wake up in the middle of the night, I roll over, put my headphones on, and resume playing whatever I was listening to before I fell asleep. Recently, this has been the dragnet old time radio show. So, last night, I was wide awake...or thought I was..., rolled over, put on the headphones, and hit play. Only to hear:This is EBC, the equestrian broadcasting company. {the three dong dong dong chimes. First bar of t he theme song.} Dragon net. Mayors and gentlestallions, the story you are about to hear is true. Only the names were changed to protect the Innocent. {more theme music.} You're a detective Sargent. You're assigned to robbery detail. A gang of ponies has been steeling baked goods. Evidence points to a well-oiled criminal organization. Your job: cook them. {final bars of theme music} It was Sunday July third. It was raining in ponyville and we were working the night watch in robbery detail. My partner's Applebloom. The boss is princess Celestia. My name's Scootaloo. We were on our way out of the office and it was 9:57 PM when we got to sugarcube corner. Unfortunately, that was all of the dream I bothered to write down at the time. I have vague memories involving Twilight Sparkle getting arrested, and Rainbow Dash fighting an army of eighteen Pegasus thieves, and...something about Scootaloo's scooter bursting into flames after a b ombing attempt because she was getting too close to the truth? Also, there was a marshmallow laser battling Pinkie's party cannon in defence of poundcake at some point for...some reason. The only other thing I thought was important enough to write down was this:Starring Emma Stone as the voice of Scootaloo, Yeardley Smith as Applebloom, Kristin Chenoweth as Pinkie Pie, Sarah Silverman as Rainbow Dash, India Fisher as Rarity, Idina Menzel as Fluttershy, and Sarah Michelle Gellar as Twilight Sparkle. So, yeah. Apparently my brain can tell me the most epic story of utter epicness in the history of epic things, and all I really want to do when I'm half asleep is dork out about voice actresses. Go, sleepy me! You win! LOLEdit: I lay in my bed again, because sometimes that helps me remember bits I forgot to write down. So...it turned out Twilight was the one steeling the baked goods, because she thought if she could only eat enou gh blueberries, she would turn blue. No, I don't remember why she wanted to turn blue. But unfortunately Fluttershy caught her setting fire to Scootaloo's scooter with her horn, and snitched. So Twilight kidnapped Poundcake and was holding him hostage in Sugarcube Corner to negotiate safe passage out of Equestria. She was also demanding 80 pounds of blueberries for the journey. And every time Scootaloo got too close, Twilight was taking pot shots at her with a magically powered marshmallow laser that she had somehow bolted onto her horn. I mean, like, with actual metal bolts. Based on the sounds, it apparently hurt. A lot. There were a lot more things, I'm sure, and I'm sure the bits I'm forgetting made that all make more sense. Well, no. I'm not. Why did I bother straining my brain trying to remember this in the first place? Re: my fighting/mainstream games recordings hi again.I need help with NGBC.In the unlockables list in NGBC, it says just beat goodman in survival mode. Then, lose in the following round or what ever you want in survival mode then exit. You'll receive a notification that you've already unlock whichever characters that you have defeated and now it is a playable character in every mode. Then another line says to select mizuchi, shin shishio or neo-deo just move your cursor far off screen to the left or right. The cursor then disappear and you are now selecting the characters.Use up or down to cycle between these characters. To select goodman, press right on yuki and now you are highlighting goodman.I beat goodman in survival mode, losing the match after goodman, exit the game and selecting the mode that I want to play, but in the character select screen there is no unlocked characters. What's wrong with this? And I also need help with capcom vs snk2 mark of t he millennium fighting 2001.How to get to the boss with shin akuma/god rugal? Re: [Audiogames-reflector] help finding people to discuss something with
Re: help finding people to discuss something with This has nothing to do with the thread up to this point, but I just had to share! Only to hear:This is ECB, the equestrian broadcasting company. {the three dong dong dong chimes. First bar of t he theme song.} Dragon net. Mayors and gentlestallions, the story you are about to hear is true. Only the names were changed to protect the Innocent. {more theme music.} You're a detective Sargent. Re: [Audiogames-reflector] virtual world
Re: virtual world Hi Tom. Your right about startrek, indeed I should've remembered the sentient Moriarty program because I am watching next gen at the moment as I've just bought deep space 9 and am about to start it. Actually I'm looking forward to watching ds9. I bought the series about 4 or 5 years ago but remember very little of it as I was extremely ill at the time, however I lent it to my brother who proceeded to lose several of the boxes meaning I ended up having to rebuy the hole thing. In terms of Ai however, actually Data as a character (even ignoring his ability to walk, talk and have human senses), is pretty advanced in a way that no ai we have now is. for example, I have taught Reever to find various objects in her guiding job such as doors and seats. These things she learns very quickly. She was able (as indeed a human would), to categorise the concept of "door" as applying to innumerable different things. it doesn't matter if we're inside or outside, if the door is wood or plastic or metal or glass, or has a window, or is revolving or automatic, or is closed or open. No matter what factors are involved just like a human Reever is able to identify "door" quite accurately, indeed accurately enough for me to risk getting lost on her identification. Now if you were inventing some sort of visual scanning program to identify doors you'd need to program in a massive bunch of variables, you'd need to program it to recognize inumerable shapes, sizes, situations and positions, heck I'm not even certain that the unified characteristics of door are ones you could easily apply, sinse essentially the identification of "door" involves understanding the purpose of a door and instantly noting what objects in the environment could be used for that purpose, ignoring many factors. From the last I heard about android research, they were just at the level of getting and roids as you said to recognize heat and cold and other vague sensations, indeed I particularly liked the idea of the robot called graspy I saw on a program I watched last year, which was a robot with a vocabulary of touch who had tactile sensors in it's hands, could hold objects and identify them as soft or hard or rough or smooth, or use various other tactile descriptive terms. But I've not yet heard of any research that have been able to put these sensations together into forming the sorts of intuative categories of objects that humans and animals use. Another key problem I'm always struck by in the field of Ai is the question of consciousness, sinse one of the major issues in the philosophy of mind is whether it is possible to derive consciousness from function. There is a very famous problem which illustrates this called the chinese room. Imagine that you had a room with lots of draws labeled in chinese characters, which contained notes writte n in chinese. In this room is a person who doesn't themselves understand chinese. Suppose you wrote a note in chinese and posted it into the room, and the person in the room took the note, looked at the chinese characters written on the note, matched them to a draw and posted the note back out. So your note could say in chinese "Hello how are you" and when the person looks in the draww with that chinese message on there is a note saying "I am fine" which the person posts back to you.You have hear got an intelligent response in chinese simply by virtue of pattern matching, and if there were enough draws and enough notes for this none chinese speaking person to post back you could imagine an intelligent conversation in chinese. The problem however, is that obviously the person in the room has no idea what the heck is going on sinse they don't speak chinese themselves, and though you have what is apparently an intelligent conver sation going on, there is no actual consciousness involved. Now this example comes from the 1950's, when computer programming was very much in it's infancy, however you can see the problem for an Ai. With a human I can be relatively certain (at least as certain as cartesian doubt will let me be), that that human is a conscious being, that they are not just responding to certain inputs with given outputs, but that there is something else going on more fundamentally. I can also make a rough intuative guess that at least some animals share this level of consciousness and do not simply respond mechanically, at least to some extent. However, what about a computer program? This is the area where I am not convinced on Ai research, and indeed the area where I tend to disagree with biological determinism as well, sinse consciousness does not seem to reduce down to any sort of explanation of inputs and outputs, especially as you said when you considder emot ion, personality, and all the fun things that being conscious involves. It is fairly clear in Tng that data is intended to be a conscious being, indeed I recently watched the episode where he activated a part of his programming tha

Re: Yoda is spambot and advertise weight lots he do! @chandu: avoirdupois is the system of measurements used in the United States, based on the 16 ounce pound. So the spammer was using it, incorrectly, as another word for weight. That's the other thing so amusing about the original post, all of the large words used are used incorrectly, though if you think hard enough, they are just slightly related to the concept the spammer actually meant. Doing that is way harder than you would think! The best I could do was rostrum as an incorrect synonym for forum, and Lastex as an overly-precise and incorrect synonym for thread. But I think those were far too obscure for everyone. Re: Need help with shank One thing you should realize about this game is that it is not designed to be a guns blazing type of game. You have to use different tactics, different combos of short and long-range attacks to defeat your enemies. And as you've seen so far, the game works in a way that specifically prevents you from just shooting your way out of everything. So, guns away for this one. Re: [Audiogames-reflector] virtual world
Re: virtual world Dark, personally I think contact would be a far more useful name for it than virtual friends. I know that Facebook calls our Facebook contacts friends, but as you said not all of them maybe actually friends. Certainly are some are personal friends, others maybe family members, but many of them are online acquaintances or simply contacts one met through a game, a forum like this one, and therefore are no more than electronic pen pals.As has been stated before I feel the word virtual has been used far too much in the technology industry, and they often use it to make things sound so high tech or revolutionary. However, the way in which they mean virtual and the way I commonly think of the word are completely different.Take the term virtual friend. Like you I also would think of a virtual friend as an android, robot, or a highly advanced computer with reasonable artificial intelligence. In that case one could reasonably call that a virtual friend because it is a non-liv ing piece of equipment simulating real life. However, calling my Facebook contacts as virtual friends is very misleading in my opinion. I know that all of those people really exist, are actually human beings, and as a matter of fact many of the contacts I have friended on Facebook I went to high school or college with. As a result there is nothing virtual about them. Calling them virtual friends is totally inaccurate. So for me calling them contacts is a more suitable term. A contact can be anything as close as someone's mother, father, son, daughter, husband, or wife or a person they met online while playing a game. Contact is a nice generic term that is all inclusive without any misleading meanings.Chandu, as far as a virtual family I don't think we have the technology to make something possible. Especially, if you take my definition of virtual which means something as close to real as possible without actually being real.I do know there is some work being done in robotics to create humanoid androids, but the prototypes developed so far are still fairly simplistic. For instance, I heard of a guy who created an android female called Roxxy which is suppose to look human, and has a very basic artificial intelligence. According to the Youtube videos I have seen she can answer basic questions like if it is hot or cold, what the weather is like, identify the color of someone's shirt, but in other areas the android is quite stupid compared to a human being. As Dark pointed out above nothing created has ever been developed that really convincingly passes for humanlike, and as a programmer who has studied artificial intelligence I am not sure we can develop anything convincingly human without a lot of time and research.Dark, there were a few other virtual people in Star Trek besides those you mentioned such as Data's daughter who was only in one episode, and there was that one hologram on TNG that became self-aware and wanted the crew of the Enterprise to preserve his life. However, I do agree with your premise that even in the 24th century coming up with a convincing android or hologram that passes for humanlike is pretty difficult.Take the prototype of Data that was discovered in Star Trek Nemesis. It looked mostly like Data, but his neural network and artificial intelligence was not as advanced. Even when Data downloaded his entire memory banks and programming into the prototype it turned out to be a failure. This would indicate to me that there were probably many prototypes leading up to Data, and a number of them were failures before perfecting the technology with Data. Although, Data possessed the records on how to repair and replicate himself his only attempt to replicate himself ended in failure when his daughter died for reasons not explained in that episode.I think Star Trek pretty much did a decent job of balancing technology out with difficulty. Even with extreme adv ances in technology, science, and state of the art advances in robotics certain characters like Data fell short of truly being a virtual human. There were areas where those characters fell short as in up until Star Trek VII Data had no emotions until he installed Lore's emotion chip into himself. He also had a number of personality flaws like not being able to understand why this or that was funny, sad, etc making him obviously different from a human being. He was essentially a machine so thought as a machine in terms of logic and statistics rather than acting based on emotion.Personally, I think the ability to feel emotions and act upon them will always be the dividing line between animals and machines. It is possible to make a virtual dog roll over, sit up and beg, wag its tail, but they won't have the same exuberance and excitement at begging for a treat as a real live dog. When I get a treat out of the drawer for my dog Missy she hops up and down on her hind leg s, wags her tail, barks at me, paws me, and runs around my legs wanting that treat. I

Re: Some questions about computer and sounds Hi guys,Alright i might try the FTP libraries later, but i can't seem to let the NVDA theemes manager to work. Also, some questions:1. Where to get the NVDA theemes manager.nvda-addon file? I tried to download it, but when i extracted the zip, i get a few files: global plugins, manifest.ini and a few .PI files. No nvda-addon file...2. Can i use this addon with others that also makes certain sounds play when you focus on objects? Say, i installed this while objsounds is still active in my NVDA.3. How to programme a NVDA-addon and/or write a .PI, .PIO or .PO files? I asked because i noticed that we can actually write it in notepad or whatever text editors, but i don't know the code. Also, i'd like to try to make my own addon.4. (not related to NVDA): i have a question that had bothered me a long time ago already. Why did my c:\users\username\downloads folder keep having those progress bar beeps when i move to certain files? Like, when i o pened it, it worked well until the NVDA progress bar beeps start playing, and my NVDA will start lagging until the progress bar update beep finishes. Also, NVDA's speech seemed to hang/pause in the middle of words. It will say something like this: "ite...ms... vi...ew list..." and sometimes, the progress bar beeps pause at the middle as well. But everything went back to normal after the progress bar updates finishes.Thats it for now. Re: [Audiogames-reflector] virtual world
Re: virtual world @Slj, look at it this way. When you are really in the bank you can get all of your senses of that place, the sight of it if you can see, the sounds of the space around you, the bank assistants talking to other customers etc, the feel of the various items. Even if in second life you could get some sort of first person view of a bank, control your character to walk in and carry out transactions with some human second life player who was playing the part of the bank assistant, you are still missing a huge amount from the sensory experience even if you get the essential functions of the bank such as depositing money. That is what I meant, just because something has the function of a system online, doesn't make it a literal virtual experience, heck even if the look and sound of the bank were exactly right it is still not a full virtual experience sinse we just don't have the sensory technology for that. @chandu, any virtual person whether a friend or family etc would be literally impossible with our current ability to create faccimilies of people. heck, even in the limited interactions of text games or the much more sophisticated chat programs such as albertt, you still haven't got something that is anywhere close to passing the turin test, aka actually managing to fool another person into believing they're a person, and that is just based on very minimal interactions let alone all the sensory input that would be required for an actual virtual person, heck even in startrek I can only think of three instances of literally virtual people, namely Commander data (and the other androids like Lore), the android, the holographic doctor in voyager and the lounge singer program ricky in ds9, and those are all very special cases of Ai which was said even in the 24th century to be very much in it's infancy, this idea that even the very utopean society of startrek with it's close to godlike technology was struggling to create actua l convsingly human people should give an idea of just how complex the problem is.Indeed I think as Camlorn has said in the past anything approaching real Ai would be extremely different from anything resembling a human intelligence, let alone being able to fake being human.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=173716#p173716 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com http://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
