I collect and read non-fiction Braille books so that I have reference material at home which I can access if the electricity goes. I like to learn and read about first aid and survival and have actively worked to learn how to cook on camping stoves or over fires.Its also worth thinking about what use you could be back at base. True, as Aprone says, you may not be able to go out and scavenge but you can chop wood (I learned how, in any case), mend clothes, prepare food, even hold nails in place while somebody else is repairing something. The more positive and active you are, the more likely you are to be accepted, included and valued as a member of the team. If you go into a situation like that making yourself dead weight then youre most likely going to stay that way.I kind of focussed on a more farfetched zombie apocalypse scenario for most of my survival panics. I remember the day I found Swamp I took a day off work and literally played all through the night and the next day. I only went to bed when my housemate came home and made me because I literally couldnt speak properly. I dont play them to become the best, especially to show off to other players. I agree with Dark that it sounds like youre playing games for the wrong reason.I would originally have said that maybe its just a phase. Eventually you will either mess up so bad or youll just get bored and the MUD wont seem quite so important any more. You could try to tough it out until then. It really freaked me out though and I used to literally run away from the toilet when it made the sort of gurgling sounds of the chain flushing.I also get really nervous of wasps and other flying insects. But you still need to watch out for heavy custumised versions of Android, which brakes the accessibility. check out the Nexus phones. In this way, youll get the experience Google wants you to get, instead the broken accessibility which other companies wants you to get. Regarding to voices, then Android is the way to go. On Android you can choose whatever voice you want. On IOS, youre stuck with the preinstalled voices. You should just be glad that english is your standard language and you do have choices when it comes to the voices. Denmark is a very small country, and we dont have many choices when it comes to voices, compared to the english voices. So complaining about the voices like this is just weird in my opinion, but I see where youre comming from. In my language, I just have to be thankfull that the device even speaks my language! Im learning bgt slowly, and am in the process of making my first small game, and its turning out to be quite the challenge. All I can say though, is have a goal in mind before you start programming. When it comes to programming, games especially, its impossible to do it all at once, its gotta come in small little steps. For example, if you were creating a side scroller, youd maybe think, okay, whats my first step? I need a main menu. Thats only a few lines of code, not so bad. Next, I want to start the game, setting the players health and such.Basically, what Im saying, is keep working at it. You do seem to get it, its just knowing what you want before you start, and consulting the documentation, and other people, when you get stuck. Eventually, after youve done en ough of those smaller steps, you realize, hey, Ive got a game, sort of. It needs work, but it is a game. And the feeling you get once youve done that, even if its something small, is pretty awesome. Anyways, Ill stop rambling now. You cant just open a book on programming and expect to right the next Shades of Doom or Tank Commander the next day. Just isnt going to happen.that said, there are plenty of simple games you could probably learn to create without anything as simplistic as Guess the Number or Beep. For example, when I was learning C++ in college one of the first games I wrote was a text based version of black jack. It was rough going since I was just a beginner, but I was able to apply what I was learning in class to my game such as functions, variables, printing text to the screen using cout, and I was able to take what I was learning and immediately apply it to something I wanted to do. I think something similar might help you here.Start with a few ideas for simple games you might like to create, and then as you read the BGT tutorials or any other programming guide try and see how wh at you are reading may apply to your game idea. I think from reading your notes above you get it, you have a fair amount of comprehension, its the aspect of application that maybe has you lost. What you need is someone to talk to, to ask questions to, as you pointed out you want to cut to the chase and want to know what does this or that do, how can you use it, and why do you need to know that. Being able to bounce questions off an experienced programmer would help in that respect.To be honest I dont think the BGT users guide is the best for learning to program. The problem is that it does not give a lot of examples and explanation of programming using BGT. Its a case of a programmer writing from a programmers point of view so tends to be brief in areas where I feel it needs more explanation for newbies. I have experience of addictions myself - the harmful kind, not just a new thing to obsess over - and I can honestly say that the only thing that can really straighten you out is wanting that to happen. Thousands of heroin addicts only take methadone on state sponsored rehab programmes because its cheaper than buying the drugs they can get illegally, the same goes for many of those who have difficulty giving up smoking or stopping drinking alcohol. The point of an addiction is that it consumes your life. Its all you want to do. From what Ive seen, and from personal experience, it seems to me that all the therapy in the world wont stop you if you dont want to stop. The people who still smoke cigarettes through holes in their neck do so because nothing is more important to them than that fix. They know its killing them but they dont feel that that is important enough to stop.That s why I would advise that a way to beat this gaming addiction is to find a reason to do so which is important enough to matter. Clearly a girlfriend or schoolwork are not strong enough reasons. I wonder whether the route cause of this need to succeed and be better stems from some other issue, maybe a complex from bad experiences with school, family or hobbies in the past, which need to be explored. Maybe one of these areas is something which needs to be changed. Well quite an explosive ending. i wasnt overly surprised at what happened to Tardust, though in a way it was better than what I thought was going to happen, what with a very pissed of Riley and a lot of nearby bear traps, in one sense Tardust was sort of lucky she just shot him. I do rather wonder why Tardust didnt just say he new Lizy from the time that the Mawlers were taking charge of the colony, I know that between wisky, having his leg mangled by a bear trap and generally not exactly being the worlds best lyer anyway there is a reason he ended up blurting things out, but at the same time youd think someone with as good an instinct for self preservation as Tardust would know to keep his gob shut when around people as potentially volotile as Riley. I did like his speach about Riley being the same as Scratch though, and the way that even Bert, a man who has more reason to hate Scratch and the Nawlers than most was trying to calm the situation down, quite the role reversal.As to the major zombie plot, well Im not surprised at working out that there were pockets of gas under the cracks at ground zero and that this was related to the fault lines, though Im not exactly sure how Tanya got from that realization to the idea of actual tunnels, after all couldnt the gas just exist like pockets of natural gas do in hollow spaces within the earths crust? I suppose well learn more if Michael and victor end up heading into the zombie tunnels, which seems all the more likely given randys appearence and the fact theyll probably end up going in after Saul.I hope this isnt it for Saul, indeed Ill admit that was quite shocking, though at the same time I can sort of understand Randys thinking on that one given that Randy was i n the same military unit with Saul and Michael.I do hope Saul survives as for Saul to die at this stage would be just plane depressing, leaving poor nickolas an Orphan, but well have to see.I also now do think its likely that the trip into the zombie caves will spell the end of the series somehow, given that the steaks have just got higher and that there are now only two chapters left. Re: Smugglers 5 invasion released I wondered what was going on with s5 invasion, sinse last I heard there were some pretty bad bugs. Well i dont know what has happened with getting mails, but it turns out not only have their been two versions of s5 invasion, but also a couple of new versions of the standard Smugglers 5 (or smugglers 5 cessession as its becoming known).I dont know if because theyve have gone steam they got missed but either way there is lots of good stuff going. For a staart the new abilities system seen in invasion, whereby you get a draw set of abilities at the start of combat has now made it to cessession. This is lots of fun sinse it means no more having to kick back and use the same skills in combat over and over again, though apparently some skills like Duelist are left to invasion.Lots of bug fixes, including some text fixes for blind compatibility mode (the skill tree was much more comprehensible).Also for invasion, the duelist bug I mentioned is definitely fixed.Whether invasion is still as rock hard as it was or whether cessession has got that way I dont know either way its definitely worth a look. Im looking for blind Java programmers who use JAWS for a paid user study.Last year a couple of the grad students in my lab did an eye tracking studywhere they had a bunch of programmers read code and tracked what lines they gazed at the longest. Now we want to replicate the study with blind programmersby tracking the cursor as they read a series of Java code fragments. We won’t need you to go anywhere, we’ll just send you the tracker which is just ajaws script file along with the code fragments and ask you to read them as you normally wood. All you need to do, Thetruegamer, is ban yourself from the game. Tell Dentin to block your IP address from connecting, and youve effectively solved a portion of the problem. Whether your addiction will take the form of other games, I cannot say; but, it might be a step in the right direction. For instance, if Dentin bans your IP, your addiction might transfer, if you will, to Swamp, or some other game. The typing sounds for the PC and the name of the pokémon center that you enter, are just two very notable additions that I have noticed. Everything works smoothly, and the odd glitch when game freezes just after trying to catch pokémon, and the game freezing when fighting the shorts loving trainer on route 3, appear to be fixed! Woot, I am having so much fun with this, thank you. You have remained so faithful to the games, its so wonderful.I have downloaded the current version of the game, and have found 2 things. I am unsure if you have already been told this within regards to the latest version, but depositing pokémon into the PC, ends up with the pokémon lost. When I go to withdraw, it tells me that there are no pokémon in the box. Second is a problem that I am pretty sure Ive seen reported about past versions of the game, but its unclear if you have fixed it. I used the move fury attack, and the game reports that I hit the enemy, but yet their health percentage doesnt go down. This is very intermittent, but with a few different battles I was able to reproduce the issue.Nothing else so far to report. I am enjoying myself, reliving my childhood. Its so amazing what pictures and details come back to you when you pick up a game that you havent touched in years. I cant see hardly at all anymore, but I can picture each event so clearly in my head, I forget Im not playing the original Pokémon RBY games. The voice fades into the background, and its like Im sitting for hours at a time, in front of my TV, battling and playing the games on my Nintendo 64.I cant thank you enough for creating such a wonderful thing. The MacBook Pro 13-inch and the MacBook Air dont have this, unfortunately.Speaking of Macs, I dont know whats going on with my Mac. When I press Command+f5 to launch Voice Over, it asks me to press V to start it, or press space to learn how to use Voiceover. When I press V, it plays this thump sound, and when I press space, nothing happens, so I dont know what the heck is going on. O:-( Has anyone been able to fix this problem? A very epic space battle
A very epic space battle Well that has to qualify as probably the most epic space battle ive been through in a long time. I was in the Westwind system carrying out special forces missions in my small shadow cat corvette, when what should hove into view but a Shark class destroyer piloted by the dread pirate Black Morgan, no thats what he called himself on the scanner. I wasnt really sure whether engaging this massive ship was a good idea, sinse while the bounty was amazingly huge, so was the risk, and taking out larger ships is a very dicey proposition. Nevertheless I thought Id give it a try. unfortunately, as the battle started it seemed that the sun of Westwind was disapproving, sinse repeated solar flares threatened to stun both my ship and black Morgans with an Emp pulse, forcing me to take lots of extra time (ie two extra action points each turn), to calculate correctly to avoid.The battle therefore didnt go well, my particle cannons wer ent scratching Black Morgans hull, and despite all my best maneuvers hed got in some lucky hits and my shields were at %50, and I had to really get lucky to Avoid Morgans big and nasty missiles, one hit from which wouldve destroyed my ship in one go.Then it came to me, to use my skill as a duelist to Suppress Morgans ability to dodge the solar flares, thus resulting in his ship being hit by Emp. This let a couple of my own missiles strike hope, and let me rain in hits with my particle cannons, but Morgans shield was so huge, that the fight seemed to go on forever, even when his shield was registering zero he was able to launche a missile. But with one last lucky shut morgans shield finally collapsed! I have to say that is one of the most awsome rpg battles Ive had for some considderable time, it even sounds like something out of startrek. I was not initially too sure about the s5 invasion combat s ystem, because though the random hand of skills was a good idea, at the same time it seemed nearly impossible to take out a bigger ship than yours, and not infrequently, one the same class as yours as well. Its not as nice as BGTs sound_pool, but its much nicer than most else Ive found.
