Cant really say I have an opinion since I have never heard either one of those before. I live in the USA and while I listen to pop music now and then the majority of it is American pop music. J-pop and K-pop dont have much of a following here and I dont know of any radio stations that play it.

well for myself, getting through the dungeons is mostly a numbers game, have i been at this number before? It might help to have the labels of each square, eg, stone path, read by voice over when navigating over that square. This may still be useful in battle arena which is i think mostly what your looking at for sure. Also on the main menu i notice that i cant use gesture controls eg, swipe right or left to navigate to each of the icons so i have to move my finger around the screen or memorize generally where the icons are so it would help to have that functionality but let me know if you have difficulty and i am sure we can provide better support here. Keep up the hard work.

You may remember that, since like no one here spent a ton of time playing the PC version of Mortal Kombat 4, the default controls in most of the games in the Jeqocon Console were kinda weird.I still want to make games with a console-oriented control scheme, preferably with multiplayer as an option, and Id like opinions on how these should be set up by default.Naturally, youd still have the option of changing the controls to something more to your liking, but the less tinkering people have to do, the better.Im thinking primarily of my basic setup: directions, 6 normal buttons, and a start/pause button. Whenever possible, Id try to keep the gameplay in as few buttons as possible, and reserve 1-3 buttons for navigation/information commands.If you know youre not going to have two people playing at the same keyboard (joysticks count as not at the same keyboard), I could imagine the defaults for 6-8-button emulators working (arrow k
 eys, A-S-D / Z-X-C, spacebar/enter).Two at the same keyboard seems like itd default to something kinda like Mortal Kombat X, using the arrow keys and the num pad for player 2, and ASWD GHJ TYU space for player 1.But I could be way off the mark, which is why Im asking you!Thoughts?

I think the emulator scheme works best, especially if youre dealing with buttons with six different actions if you ever plan to make a complex fighting or action game. Combo strings are much easier to do with simple button setups... or even a game controller preferably. MK X had a bit of a weird set up, but it worked once you got used to it... but for me personally, I think rather than going with one general design for all your games, I would go with button design depending on the games themselves. An action game, for example, could be as simple as two buttons if youre going for something simple like final fight. But if you want something more complex with more advanced fighting mechanics, you might want four or five buttons for punches and kicks, or one for each limb tekken style whereas for an rpg, it might be a little different with simply one physical attack, one magical attack and an interact button, plus additional ones for map displays, status readouts, wh
 atever. Im just thinking of what I would put in a game if I was modelling it off a joystick or gamepad.

Hi,Mason I have an idea, how about putting sound that notifies the players if there safety time has been ended, in addition to the message that the screen reader reads about your safety times ending that says you are no longer safe, because I sometimes interrupt the message while playing, so it would be better if this sound is available.

There are probably braille tables out there, but I imagine they use the unicode symbols for braille (which most screen readers cant read, because of course they cant). Has anyone made, say, an NVDA addon that can interpret unicode braille?

Jeremy here:I’m just writing to clarify Aaron’s post a little now that I have had a chance to discuss it with him and Dentin, and can give a clearer explanation of the pros of this system, since people are pointing out cons. Also too, I am not headed out to hay fields.In the following YB = Yellowbonnet and GDG = GuideDog Games in case that wasn’t obvious. Plus Sides for the Player Base:1. Less hassal. If we had marketed YB without GDG we would have had to provide a registration key, which could have been lost, stolen, shared, and otherwise mangled. By using GuideDog we remove that hassal both from us as developers, and from you as players. I know, having read the Audyssey list and forums here, that loss of registration keys is a real hassal, especially for older games that are no longer being actively supported. 2. One of the advantages of using GDG, which you might not be aware of is Dentin’s commitment to the player base. In his developer contract he insists on having access to installers and game files so that if the developer disappears for some reason, current customers will continue to have access to their games. Again, having read about this problem, this was one of the things that convinced us using GDG was a good idea.3. When GDG gets multiplayer or scoreboard or chat functionality, all things that are possibilities that might be on the table down the road, using a centralized service allows us to moderate and mediate disputes and activities of the few players who would take advantage of bugs or situations and use them to artificially pump their score, or in multiplayer environments make the game less enjoyable for others. If we were running such a thing ourselves, we might not have the tools we would need. With Dentin’s years of doing just this on Alter Aeon, we have a resource that gives us a lot of flexibility in terms of player base management.4. Making refunds faster and less problematic. By using GDG and its log files, we can hopefully return money faster for problem issues, and address those issues more quickly than we could on our own service.5. Consistancy of service and quality of service. Dentin’s been running credit card sales through Alter Aeon for years, his interface is extremely accessible, and gives the customer a good experience. Our original system was going to use Paypal, an email system, and a registration key, all three of which could have messed up. Overall, I think the customer experience is not only safer, but more pleasant with GDG.6. Using GDG and the internet connection allows settings to save to multiple computers. This means not only your voice settings but scores, progress in long games, and other features that might eventually be included in our games. Currently we store high scores locally, but we could eventually store that information online.Plus Sides for the Developers:Obviously some of the above make things easier on us as well. However, here’s the main one for us:1.  The game becomes much harder to abuse and/or crack. You cannot run Yellowbonnet on two different systems on the same account at the same time. Because the registration keys are not stored locally they are harder to get at. This provides increased security for our product, and allows us to track player behavior. If someone tells us the game isn’t working for them, but that account logged 24 hours of game play, we can see it. It’s an ugly truth that some people will attempt to get something for nothing, and a smart business person safeguards themselves from that possibility.As the above demonstrates, current functionality, both of Yellowbonnet and of GuideDog do not clearly demonstrate the full potential of either system. YB was a minigame designed to provide a few minutes of fun, not to be a massive multiplayer online game. GDG is still in its infancy. Many of the hurdles that Dentin and we faced were overcome from very close interaction and a lot of nights on Aaron and Dentin’s parts thrashing out complicated code. Rome was not built in a day, and neither will GDG. That said, when it reaches its fruition, the blind community, and those of you who dislike the term can pillary me if you wish, will have a service that not only guides you to games, but allows you to play against others, compete against others on scoreboards, chat to others about your experiences, and share game information etc over the servers. thanks for the announcement. Now I think I wont be going on UltraPower for a while until the issue is resolved. Sam also has had problems with hackers messing with Survive the Wild and changing character stats, like health, energy, and hunger. I suspect this could be the same hacker. Sam has secured his server in the latest updates, making it harder for hackers to carry out attacks. However, I dont think UltraPower is secured the same way, so Mason may need to upgrade it. Ive also noticed that people can be killed in one shot even in the safe zone, though Im not sure if thats a hacking exploit, or weapon damage in the game itself.Im personally getting tired of games being ruined by hackers. Great projects are often discontinued because hackers choose to make the developers job that much more difficult. Aprone made Swamp a paid account to prevent this from happening. The other alternative is to secure servers to make hacking difficult
 , as I noted above. Again, thanks for the announcement.

Obviously I lost my items.That was the only experience of PK that I didnt like, but Ive returned to play... and the game remains as great as ever.About the Spanish translation:Yep, there is a translation to Spanish that I along with some friends have been doing, What we have been completing it during updates of the game. I have to copy much of the messages from the historials of Jaws, but everything has gone very well.And Yes, sometimes I have to arrange words in a way that is very rare so the game take them as translation and can say it well in Spanish, for 
 example: the translation in Spanish for branch is rama, so that for the game can say tied branch in Spanish, I had to put the word rama in spanish, in such a way that the item would be tied_rama. Sorry to be a damper as well.. but I highly doubt this will reach its goal with only a couple of weeks to go. Also, the concept of table top boardgames that blind and sighted can play in concert has been around for a long time... though monopoly and Scrabble are probably the two I see most often. Dominion and Risk would be fun to play as well, but I can only imagine how big a braille Risk map would be! But I hope this project turns out... even though Im slightly skeptical about it reaching its goal.

Thanks @Soundworks  @John. I had tried the wayback machine a long time ago, but unfortunately the ASE website was never archived during its period of life. This is quite sad really, because I would love to create my own soundscapes. Of course, I suppose an easier method of this would be to create my own Sound Scape Engine, but why should I bother when its already been done for me?  Besides, I wouldnt be able to implement context menu support and file association, unless this sort of business is handled within a programs installation. I appreciate the uploading of the files.

OK, so I figured out how you could best give players the coordinate system back. Either put it in the options menu, or have them acquire a map of the different places in the game. They could use the map to figure out where they are and where everything else is in relation to them. Perhaps make the map a gift item as it used to be and players could use space to read the map after they select it, or use enter in the inventory menu.

this is not a troll, this is not a spam, nor a bid for attention though at first it may seem to be so. about an hour ago, ultrapower was hacked by someone, who, using some form of hacking technology was able to gain access to masons ultrapower password. about 10 minutes later his skype account changed its display name to this account has been hacked.shortly after that I logged into twitter to see if that had been got at too.it had.I initiated a dm (direct messaging) conversation with the hacker, in which he asked me if I wanted masons password. I replied yes, just to see what he would do. he said ok, but he had to get them from a brute force hacking sql database. He then proceded to give other excuses before telling me he wanted to destroy the entire blind community.He then quoted the exact name of my computer my computer name before proceding to threaten me with a denial of service attack and retrieval of personally identifiable informati
 on. I am posting this here in the hope that someone can do something, no matter how small, to fight this hacker. I am telling the absolute truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth! nat the gods or beings of which ever religion you choose strike me down if I am lying, which I am not. Materia Magica is a text-based RPG-style game (MUD) that has been active for nearly twenty years now, with the usual questing and fighting to fulfill and grow your character’s potential. The mighty ogre can uproot entire trees to use as weapons and dracons breathe fire on their enemies. On the primary plane of existence, there are four full continents, each with multiple cities, towns and dungeons, and each of these with their own lore and history. Between the relative safety of the cities and towns is the vast areas of The Wilds. Locations in this virtual outdoor map are static, but the dynamic spawn of creatures and items can make even the simple act of exploring exciting.And the exploring...the cities are not small villages as Lasler is, consisting of one or two streets alone! In keeping with this, while in many games when you die you are penalized experience points or gear, Materia Magica instead has a much simpler method. When you die, your body crumbles to dust and your soul is taken to the Ethereal Plane, bound with chains, to wait until the Powers see fit to restore you to your previous living strength. Usually this takes a few minutes, however certain criteria can be met to shorten...or lengthen...your stay as a wandering soul. Materia Magica has a very well built support system for sight impaired and blind players, which is a result of the developers being open to changes for the betterment of ALL players. There are several settings, including “sight-impaired”, to change the information sent to the player from color codes and simple diagrams to text and audio cues. Hi,As wscript.exe is the windows script host, it sounds to me like a script is beeing run without your knowing. I dont know how to kill scripts, but try this:1. Go to run and type the file name, wscript.exe.2. In the Windows Script Host Settings dialog box, check the Stop Script After Specified Number of Seconds:  check box and set the value to 1.3. Hit OK.The script should, then, not be able to run again. Keep in mind, though, that this is a global setting. All scripts will only be able to run for 1 second.

One thing I would like is either an automatic or easy way to read whats happening in battle . While at the beginning I can mostly feel around the bottom of the screen to find out what happened, it doesnt really work when there are multiple enemies with multiple attacks And possible status effects .

Hello,Agreed, the option to be able to flick/swipe left and right to get to elements will also be quite useful. A lot of blind iOS users use that method rather than dragging around the screen, as sometimes icons can be so small its impossible to find them (Im looking at you facebook and your done button on photo comments), which can only be found by flicking.

I am really enjoying this game. I like the sounds the atmesphere everything. One thing that I think is so cool is the way the help files are set up. All you need to do is press F2 and choose one from the list. There are some anime soundtracks I like like dot hack sign, and attack on titan, though they tend to be more of the epic, symphonic or more individualized end (attack on Titan verges on being epic metal), than the standard J pop idle variety, which is pretty much similar to what I do with western stuff as well :d.

Simply saying its been designed for the blind first doesnt really say very much about what it is actually like (indeed at least some products designed for the blind have varied in quality).I am intreagued by the idea of a game that has both cards and a board, sinse thus far apart from monopoly something like that doesnt exist, indeed Ive always myself wanted to play fantasy boardgames like Talisman or the Lord of the rings boardgame or the zombie themed all flesh must be eaten but not been able to. Also, is the game similar to anything offered by 64 oz games? http://www.64ouncegames.com/blog/ they make access packs for cardgames that are played by sighted players such as Dominian, cards against humanity, bonanza and munchkin. So if you could offer a bit more information such as perhaps a basic exert of some of the rules that would be great. Im certainly intreagued but Id very much like to know a little more what Im getting if I buy the game or donate to the project. Btw according to Paypal 10 Danish Kroner is a little more than one English pound, so the estimated Kickstarter funds required are I believe roughly £12, or about $18 of which they currently have about £400 or $600.Ill confess assuming I havent utterly cocked up the maths here, that that is also a fact that worries me, this thing is dam! expensive and as we all know Kickstarter is hardly the most forgiving of circumstances or has a good record when it comes to backing accessible games.Edit: Ah, Dark is a dumb dumb, it already says they need another $178000 to complete the project,  still hurrah for my maths and currency convertion skills .

Not only that, but he probably also needs to update it not to depend on the scoreboard server, and since there are one or two trophies related to that, he has to do something about those. The reason for removing the scoreboard server requirement is that, years from now, that server may no longer exist, and he doesnt want to cripple all copies of that game ever downloaded when that happens.

Ahoy allI have been playing this off and on as college permits,and am really enjoying it. Although using braillemon was much smoother and easyer, however I do understand both of them are different games and it is indeed quite awesome that we can play a original pokemon game or at least read the text that is incomeing, and hence be able to play that way. If the grass and the walk sounds were added, there could be a possibility of adding other sounds too which could solve a few problems.What kind of teams have you guys gotten? where are you guys at? let discuss what we are doing and how we are doing it So far, Ive trained up my starter and even gotten it to evolve, caught a pijy, traded in a belsprout to get a ornix, and now am planning to catch a water pokemon next. with all that, I havent done a gym fight yet.:lol: I

For years, the blind had to settle with a limited option of entertainment. They were stuck with activities that appeal to the ears like listening to some music or sharing experiences with friends. There weren’t a lot of options when it comes to tabletop game for the blind. That was the case until the Imhotep Labyrinth was conjured by known board game creator, Johannes W. Schroder.The Imhotep Labyrinth is the first of its kind. It was developed to level the playing field of the blind and seeing. It is a visionary game that allows all the players to assess the situation and develop their strategies without bias.How the game is playedThere are 64 depressions on the Imhotep Labyrinth board. Four spawns can sit on these depressions. The game includes 36 playing cards and a specially designed dye. At most four players can play together, with levels ranging from the easy to diffficult. The easy round usually lasts for 20 minutes while the difficult round can last for as long as an hour!The game is somewhat like chess, although with small number of movable pieces. The seeing can play the game with sight while the blind can play it with vision. All pieces have distinguishing features that make them easily recognizable by feel. According to Schroder, the game was created to break the gap between the disabled and the not. By sharing one experience, they will be able to communicate more freely. They would learn to understand each other’s circumstances and where each is coming from. Conversations can transition smoothly from the game and on to other things. The Imhotep Labyrinth is definitely one of a kind!
