The concept for Barnyard is something that is certainly unique, and I find it very fun.The developer has already said that he will be updating Racer, so you can expect more things. Well, after fifteen months with no update, we really should be expecting a big update.If you find that the games are too verbose, you can always turn on the "less talk and sound effects" option in the Settings screen.

@Turtlepower, I'm not sure what the apple problem is, unless it's something to do with the server as Aprone said. You can however get more food by planting crops, you just need a stone hoe to till the ground, and a seed (I started with a couple of seeds in my inventory, I'm not sure if you do on single player).Corn and potatoes can both be planted, harvested and  then cooked and eaten with firewood, which is a good way of going until you get other production methods up and running, though as you need to buy things like extra seeds and eggs to start those I'm not sure how you get them in single player. If your really desperate for food you can try spear fishing with one stick, but chances of getting a fish out of it are only one in five.As to money, you make it by selling things to the kingdom, this you can do when you've built a store on your land, even without selling to the online shop, however you can't really start s
 elling until you've got some ore such as iron, silver or gold smelted which takes time. Doubtless these are things Aprone will fix when he balances the single player a bit more.I'm really looking forward to the next build actually. One thing I slightly miss from castaways 1 was the personal bit of having yourself in the game and having other people turn up to help, it was sort of amusing to have a clone of dark appear in other people's settlements to lend a hand .I also rather miss having actual genders for your population, just because it was always sort of amusing to imagine your women (or men with the right perk), getting pregnant and having families, indeed I do slightly miss your workers being a bit more personal with names and was hoping for something with personalities or a bit of individuality, but hay you can't have everything and 
 I definitely can see the advantages to the way castaways 2 works, especially with all the stuff you can build and the complex crafting that goes into the game.Looking at the game, especially with some of the complexity that comes with later builds I do actually wonder if the foundations for that more complex castaways with cities and civilizations is there? Maybe it is just a question of more building, but we'll see what comes, I can say I'm hooked and look forward to seeing where things go.

Feedback on voiced Visual Novel "SOON"

Hi! I've recently adapted my time travel visual novel SOON to be more enjoyable to those using the self voicing feature, and was told you guys might be able to offer feedback. Self voicing is enabled by pressing "v". The download includes a Twine version I wrote before self voicing became an option. Note that I have not yet added any extra support to my other available game, the demo for Northanger Abbey, although I definitely intend to. I'd also love to hear any general preferences audio gamers have for this kind of visual novel that I can put into practice for future games. Feedback on the Twine game would also be welcome, though I have less enthusiasm for writing more Twine games. The main options I have with the Ren'py framework I'm using for visual novels are adding alt text to buttons and so on, and adding extra lines that only show up when self voicing is enabled. I only added a few extra descripti
 ons, for example if the dialogue says they're in a park I didn't add any extra description of what the park looks like, because I felt it would throw off the momentum of the story. Would people prefer more detailed descriptions? I intend on putting more effort into making them an organic part of the narrative for upcoming games, the problem with SOON is that I added them afterwards and only have limited energy for further editing and testing.Playing the game with voicing enabled and my eyes closed it seemed to me that navigation was fairly straightforward asides from the occasional confusing pauses for animations, I'm not sure how to deal with that. Also some onomatopoeia confused the voice reader, as did ellipses. I feel like the weird noises and silent pauses that resulted convey roughly the same effect as the intended dialogue, but would people rather I replaced the relevant lines for the voiced version? Actual words that confuse the reader I consider a more
  serious problem, I caught a few but am sure some remain.Finally: I'm currently working on a Picross/nonogram style game. I added alt tags so the voicing can tell if a square is unclicked, unfilled or filled, but it seems like it would not be a very fun game to play through audio. Am I wrong? Are there any simple things I could do to make a nonogram style puzzle game more accessible and fun for audio players? If you're not familiar with nonograms, the wikipedia page is a good description, I had a link but the forum software complained! Sorry for all the questions! I'm disabled myself, so accessibility is very important to me, and it's been really frustrating knowing my games are probably not as accessible as they could be but not having anyone to ask for relevant advice. Thanks for anything you can suggest, and sorry if I've said anything horribly clueless!

I believe I found a *possible* (and I emphesyse on possible) cause of the memory leak: malfunctioning addons. I had the instant translate add on on my NVDA which doesn't do anything when I pres insertShiftT and or any other instant translate keystrokes, so I removed it yesterday hoping it would help. I don't know whether its just my imagination or its for real but my computer doesn't seem to stop responding that much. NVDA also seem to become more responsive, but since I only tried this for a day...EDIT: OK this is not making sense... The first time I maximised on the forum window using the system menu as Sam suggested, it didn't work. After I posted this post though it worked fine to display the audiogames date and karma thing, and restoring still shows that information...hmm...Well...it seems NVDA has kind of a temper. Right after I said that restoring thing still shows karma and date, when I went back to the forum it doesn't show it anymore

Hi guys, it's true that the public beta ended on Saturday night, so there is no more server for your clients to connect to.  Single player will still work, but not multiplayer.Most of the reported bugs or issues with single player are just the result of single player not really being what the test was about.  Instead of it being an actual single player experience (at this stage in development), single player was really just multiplayer without the multiplayer.  So the core game mechanics were in place, but no goals and no code to use whenever it would normally rely on a server to make decisions for it.  That's why getting new plots didn't work, and why many other things seemed to be missing or broken.  I do plan to work on single player mode, but this public beta was just meant to stress test the server.I may do another public beta, but one isn't planned yet.  I will use at least this next week to go through the colle
 cted data from this past week's test, and make the necessary code changes.  I'm also waiting to get more voice work done, and Kai continues to work his magic on game sounds.

Well, I'm not usually into strategy games, but I have to say that this one has me hooked.I've only tried the offline mode so far, but I have a quick suggestion/bug report,since I'm not sure if what I'm encountering is an actual bug or not.I saw in the jobs menu that apples are supposed to regenerate every 5 minutes, but I always have to wait for a half hour or more before I can get any. My energy is just about depleted now, and I have no other source of food. Is that supposed to happen?Also, what things can be traded when you're playing offline? I could really use some more coins to get more food if I'm going to survive, and it seems like you should be able to interact with your items in the inventory menu, but at the moment you can't, unless I'm missing something. Is that going to be added later, or can you only trade stuff if you're playing online?

I believe you can hear mission objectives with q, or by looking at the history, sinse they're given at the start of each mission. Mission 1 as I remember is indeed to build a ship, which takes lots of everything so you need to get your production going and beat back the goblins until your stocked (remember to have lots of peasants and also to make knights sinse the goblins can be nasty if you don't keep them in check).In mission 2 you need to build a war tent and defeat the yetti. in mission 3 it's build lots of catapults while enduring attacks from your opponents. Each one gets harder and introduces  more jobs ad  things to play with. Btw, one important thing to remember when planning your stratogy is the secondary job of each person as it affects who does what.So for example, unless your very stuck for wood you don't really need a dedicated lumberjack all the time, sinse your carpenter will go and chop down trees if there 
 aren't any logs to saw, in the same way, a butcher is good early on because when not butchering animals for their hydes (which can be woven into yarn and then spun into cloth), she/he will go and do more hunting, providing more meat for your people. on the other hand, a full time doctor is a bad idea, because when not doctoring the doctor works as a tailer, and tailering isn't mostly needed that much, so I'd only recommend assigning a doctor when you actually have injured people to treat. The major thing to remember in castaways is always to keep swapping jobs around. Buildings get build quicker with more builders working on them, if you need more stone assign another mason, always check what your people are doing and if any are idle, sinse you can always use more peasants (without peasants your doomed!). Hth.

Hi, the reason people like this game, is because they had some obsession with up. I thought it was a good game, at least while it lasted. But now, up is dead, and clones of it are just stupid. Now like I said, I am going to give this game a chance, providing the developers do what they said they would and completely use up as a small, small templet. With that said, I don't expect to see a release of this game for a while now. Writing code is not a walk in the park. If is something I will play, it will take more than a few days or even weeks

From the time I spent playing this game, it's like others said, very similar to ultrapower. the only diference are sounds and maps, but other ultrapowers at least had many maps, this one has just one, and that one is so ful of mines that unless you play all the time and pick all the items and maybe even cheat, it's imposible to have any sorte of fair game. It also crashes twice as often as all other ultrapower clones. it's interesting how many people seem to love it though. To each their own, I guess, but I really hope this game doesn't ever get paied, because this is just stealing of code.

I think GG xrd handled it perfectly, other than the fact that there are no fights in that game's story mode... otherwise, that's exactly the type I want. A mix of graphic novel and animated scenes, decent action scenes, and the story is condensed nicely. I too love good stories and deep characters, it's just the blazblue universe in particular doesn't seem to hold a lot of interest to me, at least not yet. Street Fighter v's cinematic story mode in June though... that I'm looking forward to!

With the forum thing not desplaying user carma or dates, go into the system menu and click maximize, it could help a little. That worked for me for a while before I finily had to completely delete firefox's config.

the recaps are in the story mode, press r1 and there it is. it's called anthology if i'm not wrong.orin, the extend stories are in the same menu. up and down selects chapters, left and right changes stories.steam definitely has all the needed games. continuum shift extend and chronophantasma extend.@assault, na, you're far from being a capcom fanboy, i also like the mechanics in the sf series, more tan the blazblue ones.about story preferences and pressentation, that's subjective, if you prefer a more direct aproach in games, that's perfectly fine. i love to stay there listenning for ours if necessary, learning every single bit of info i can about the characters, and i also love the graphic novel pressentation with dialogues A S W uses for these series. but it's a personal preference.can't wait for centralfiction's story mode

@Sean-Terry01 and [ a-t ] pokebossWE will put out a date for the next one prob wednesday or so, we did one last friday but due to last min scheduling issues it was un announced. the clips for that one will be uploaded tuesday and i'll post it here.also you can go to twitch.tv/audio_games and listen to the full past broadcasted live streams. twitch.tv runs on flash player, so you need to have flash installed. it actually broadcasts as video, but i just transmit a low quality video with 320 bit audio. then something allot of people aren't realizing is, if you are listening in mozilla you need to open up your sound volume mixer and adjust the flash player volume to make the stream louder. adjusting the mozilla volume won't change the stream's volume. if you have any other questions let me know and i'l do my best to answer. hopefully soon i can get away from this dropbox hosting and host these on sam's site, that will make it eas
 ier for everyone involved.

Now there are 2 topics, in completely different forums. Because a public beta is released, I don't see the point of this topic. and now for anyone who is wondering, the game is free. So, if you ever decide to make the game paid, I am in favor of a demo. The public beta is out, but how about after that? Are you still thinking about making the game paid? And, this game needs a lot more updating. Right now, it doesn't take a genius to tell you are using the up code. This game has good potential, as long as you stay with it, and take a totally different approach than a lot of the other developers. Playing it for now, yes. From what I've seen, you are a pretty new dev. Because of that, you have to build reputation in the community if you really want to make a game paid. I've not payed blindfold barnyard yet. I've  been going through the blindfold games adding them to the database, but that's not one I've got to as yet, the principle sounded sort of nutty, but I'll give it a try.My favourite thus far have been breakout and Hopper. Pong was good for movement but disappointing in that there was no other opponents, and while I enjoy hearts as a game, I'm sorry some of the basic rules like passing cards before each hand aren't included (plus unless the computer players are on very good they don't seem to do well). Racer was the first I tried, but still seems a bit buggy, in that sometimes the car moves fine, sometimes no matter how much I twist the phone, it just stops responding, similarly sometimes the car just  crawls along.I also confess, I find the instructions a wee bit too aimed at kids for my liking in that game, and unlike in Hopper the settings screen is less usable  
 and I don't think there is a way to turn them off.

Thanks for the information Mata, and no worries Connor, I won't mind it.The week long test went very well, and we had 74 players who joined in.  I'm only able to count the ones who participated in the multiplayer portion (since those are the only ones I have records of).  I expect to be busy going over all this data for a while, but in the mean time here are the top 10 players we saw for the week (based on final score).  For the future I'll likely work out everyone's place, and provide the actual score amounts, but for this public beta I'm only going to list the top 10 to save myself some time.#1, Hannibal#2, Badger#3, Breaker#4, Mastry#5, Trevor#6, Leigh#7, Lucas#8, Buzz#9, Parnooson#10, LoriOut of 74 players, these 10 were the quickest to figure out how the game worked so they could amass more points than the rest.  Well done, and thanks again to all.I,

Just a modded version of UP as always, sounds are a bit different, the code is modified a bit for what concerns the name of the game, as well as changing ultradollars to points, some really basic changes that anyone who  doesn't know BGT can do, unbalanced play due to the mines, no chance for anyone, especially newbies, to survive more then 3 seconds. As a conclusion, mods, put it along with the other UP clones and let it be forgotten! A code which wasn't meant to be yours can't be yours, that's my point, and you won't see me on these trillions of UP mods done by children. And now to the main point, if it'll have to be paid, which is something that can't happen unless it's a completely other game, if it'd be so then I won't consider buying it since a person making a paid game must be in my view:1- Over 18.2- The paid game shouldn't be his first game, unless it's a company like somethingElse or TiconBlue i

Yes, sound is definitely improved in this game. Steam version of extend also has stereo panning. Such a weird design choice... GG XRD didn't even get much of an audio overhaul after so many years and Blazblue gets a reworking on the third game. GG could use one... since it skipped the last generation of consoles entirely. lol

The sound design appears to be a lot better and more distinguishable in this game am I right ?  I'm hoping the story recaps will make more sense than what I played before, because the calamity  trigger   one took so long in the previous game, that it was rather hard to follow.  How about the other game modes besides story? How playable are those?  Also, if anyone could shed some light on how to find characters on the select screen, that would be fantastic.  .  .
