@gamer95440 You get past that barrier by turning around with shift left, then turning back with shift right and firing some more , and keep doing that until you destroy it.@drums61999the little platform on 8-1 is a little trickier to explain. You need jump shoes. You get these by flying past the landing zone on one of the levels of stage 6 until you get to the end and the plane turns itself around, I think it might be 6-3. You then need to put on the shoes and jump on those stones in order from left to right, but you have to get them all one after another without stopping. But in my opinion, the pay off is not worth the hassle.

@Farhad Ali BhattiI'll try again to explain it to you because neither of those two DLLs is missing.The program complaining about missing DLLs when I try to run DMPA using NVDA is called Themedia. Themedia is a DRM system used by Code Factory to protect and license its Eloquence for Windows product which I use to provide text to speech services for programs that use SAPI and for NVDA by configuring it to use SAPI as well.The problem is that all other programs that use Eloquence for Windows work without a problem so I seriously doubt that there are any DLLs missing at all.Maybe I wouldn't have this problem if I had Eloquence as an add on for NVDA but I'm not going to spend $70 to buy yet another copy of Eloquence that can only be used with NVDA just to run a game.

I found a midi to mp3 program a long time ago. I think I found it just by googling midi to MP3 or some such. It used the ms wavetable, but I wasn't using other soundfonts at the time, so I don't know if that's because it only uses the default device or what. I keep getting this weird feeling that Audacity can import midis, but perhaps I'm slightly mad.

Hello! So this is my first playthrough of this game, and so far I'm really enjoying it. I do have a question though about 8.1Possibel spoilerSo on stage 8.1, you're going left. You get through the first phase, and you're crossing the river. You see this lonely little platform so you grapple up to it. Apparently there's something here that you need to give chaos nuts to, but I don't think it's translated yet so I'm not sure what to do. I have just made it to stage 9, so maybe I'll need to come back later?

I would use something like GoldWave or Audacity to record the MIDI sound coming through your sound card if you want to record Microsoft's GM. You would have to make sure anything else that might send sounds (skype, etc) was turned off while you record though. Not sure about using a MIDI keyboard.

In the end I did pay for Captcha be Gone, because it's the only solution out there that still works that isn't shady as hell. Well, Rumola isn't shady either, but I decided to give Captcha Be Gone a chance. It works. Sometimes. It's encountered captchas it couldn't solve a fair bit for me. And whatever you do, don't disable the playing of sounds in Firefox. The extension stops working if you do that.

I've asked someone to correct this part of my guide, since people seem to be having trouble with it.I actually suggest that you push the box onto the switch to make the teleporter appear, then leave the room, re-enter and save. The box will be in its original position (before you pushed it onto the switch) but you'll still have a teleporter. From here, it should be easier to trace a path between the box and the teleporter. The general idea will be to shove it left just a bit, then straight up into the teleporter I believe. I don't know exactly how many spaces, but trial and error should do it.I haven't restarted a game in awhile, and I intensely dislike that part of the game due to the silly scaling mechanics present for the bosses in that area. QWS is a midi player/sequencer, it cannot create sound on its own.I don't think there is such a thing as a midi converter you are asking about, but I could be wrong. All the ones I've tried only allow you to use Microsoft Wavetable or sound fonts. If you want to use a hardware synth, you'll probably have to play the midi with the synth, either through QWS or some other program, and record the output with a patch chord or similar.

Unfortunately, the message is coming from Themedia and not any program you've written and doesn't tell me the name of the supposedly missing DLL or anything else useful, except to reinstall the program.For completeness, I've reinstalled Eloquence for Windows, and DMPA and even NVDA.I still get the missing DLL message when I try to run DMPA with NVDA, any other configuration just results in DMPA locking up after the intro sound.I suspect that something DMPA is doing is unintentially interfering with Themedia's dynamic loading of it's DLLs.Don't you just love DRM?

@Pragma:  Nice to see you posting here again.  Please see my posts in the crazy party thread.  In re this issue, please refer to my above posts where I point out that I disabled the RNG aspect of my code for purposes of testing this.  That was my first test.  Issue still persists even when RNG is not applicable.@CAE_JONES:  Yes, I did do this.  However, because the tests were some time ago, I am going to run tests again, then post a copy of the current log files that will show all values sent, received, and the changes that occur with each iteration, as soon as I can get access to a second PC for testing.

Great thing about this is that teams are usually just pure text that you can import into Showdown and play. The first time I tried it DMPA still locked up after playing the intro sound, and the last time I tried I got a message from Themedia saying that a DLL was missing. I tried reinstalling the Eloquence for Windows from Code Factory, the only thing that I know of that I have that uses Themedia, but the missing DLL message still pops up.Let's see, due to people not bothering to read all of the messages I've posted, this is the third time I've had to explain all of this.If you can't take the time to read my entire message, why should I take the time to respond?

The final part is that in moo you will have to hunt down exits and quests in room descriptions for LP and Moo based muds. to they are all the ame is like saying that manamon and Sruvive the wild are the same kind of game because they both use audio and you do stuff in them. so if you think you don't need to know, that's fine. If that's the case however, how about just ignoring that part of someone's post instead of telling them to stop posting that information? Some of us actually can tell the differences and would like to know that information without having to hunt it down elsewhere. It does look like talkback messes with both text to speech and speech to text. Is it possible to play with talkback disabled? We may be moving away from text to speech and using sound files (human narrator), and if we do that, it might work better with talkback.

About Mud code bases

I keep seeing people act as if people are foolish or posting what kind of code base a mud is. If it's something hat you don't feel like you need to know, that's your thing. However to say it is pointless, or to tell people to not add that information because it's useless is simply not the case. The logic seems to be that 'Wellit's a text based and it's a game so it's a mud' By that logic then every game on this site shouldn't bother having a genre added to it. I've been playing muds with my screen reader long before I even discovered audiogames.net and I can assure you , knowing the codebase will tell you more about the kind of game it is than folks on here apparently think. there's a reason that sites devoted to muds have an option to search for them by the codebases themselves. For example, diku muds tend t have he multi-classing type system of Alter Aeon and your skills and things are tied to your character directly, t
 he way prompts are handled on these muds are different than the way they are on other codebases and often have a particular cadence to them. LP muds, in my experience, tend to be the most likely to have screen reader friendly options built in, such as the ability to turn off your hp reporting and things like that in battle, as well as sortening combat text. The skils in these LP muds tend to not be tied to one's characters and instead will generally use a guild system that will often be more in depth  or detailed than the classes in something like a diku mud. The difference between guilds and classes in something like Alter Aeon (diku derived) and 3 kingdoms (Lp derived) are as clear as night and day. the you have Moo , which tends to always be more roleplay intensive and will often focus more on objects having increased functionality and will have a different method for navigating the world than say a diku. In Alteraeon you mostly just walk the direction you want to go as
 ide from entering the instances. In a moo you're going to have to hunt down the exists in the room descriptions and use a command like

New app for picture and document recognisation, seeing AI by Microsoft

Hey everyone.Today, Microsoft released their app to assist blind and visually impaired people to the US appstore.The app combines different features from a multitude of apps already available, such as recognizing long and short documents, barcode scanner and reader, person recognition, face regocnition and scene describtion.It's using the cognitive projects algorythm to for example telling someone how old a person is, what facial recognition he or she has and much more.The barcode reader with an beeping system to tell the user where he has to point there camera. I haven't tried out the document reading part, but the short text channel, good for describtions of anvilopes, bottles, kans of food works really great. I personally find that it's far better than comparable apps out there, like tap tap see, Camfind and so on.You can find the app in the US appstore for free, if you have an US Store account, you can also download it when you are

Sure, I continue playing this fantastic game with some friends.And as Luceus said, the game recently changed various layout things.  Like apply more ARIA to their views, making the game more blind friendly than in the past. The change are simply awesome.

Hello, as many know, I'm nearly deaf, which can make my understanding of audio tricky. Previously we discussed mainly using audio cues in Madden:http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=21391I decided to try to approach Madden from the perspective of "what if I wanted to play without looking"? Assuming that if someone was deaf-blind could play, someone who is blind probably could play as well.One thing that both the deaf and the blind can generally use is rumble. The only consistent rumble feature across platforms is length of rumble and strength of rumble - not all platforms allow setting side of rumble.So, back to Madden's passing mechanic. There are up to 5 buttons that can show up at any time. Let's say we give them an order and assume an Xbox controller, generally moving left to the right on the gamepad: X, A, Y, B, RB.In the passing mechanic
 , and of these buttons can show up over a player's head to indicate a player is open to pass.Now let's consider morse code, which is shorts and longs, and treat rumble as these shorts and longs. To make this brief I will use the following letter symbols, S = Short , L = long.Let's say no buttons are available, the sequence would be S S S S SLet's say only the A button is visible, the sequence would be S L S S SLet's say X, Y and B are all visible, the sequence would be L S L L STo reduce the time to provide feedback, rumble strength might be used in place of length.This could could continuously occur, with short pauses between each rumble, and slightly longer pauses between each sequence.Assuming no other rumble occurs simultaneously, overlapping this sequence, I think this would work for any game that has recommended button presses.Does anyone have feedback/suggestions on this idea?Standard discla

@sljI never said that you did, and like you I also have NVDA installed but not as a secondary screen reader, I'll use it only when I conclude that there is no way to get JAWS to work in some particular situation.I apologize for the misunderstanding, I was sure that somebody in this thread told me that JAWS was crap and said I should switch to NVDA and I thought it was you. I was wrong.As far as I know the only program I have on my system that uses Themedia is Code Factory's Eloquence for Windows and I reinstalled it as the missing DLL message suggested. Since the error message about the missing DLL didn't name the DLL or it's location that's really all I can do. I know the message came from Themedia because that was what was in the title bar of the dialog with the missing DLL message.This program is the only program I'm having a problem with.I've tried everything that's been suggested. I myself put JAWS int
 o suspend mode to resolve the problem before reporting a problem here because in most cases, that's usually all that's needed. I also tried unloading JAWS and not having any screen reader running.Then I finally tried using NVDA while running the game and got the missing DLL message for the first time.Every other program I have that uses SAPI works fine and even DMPA doesn't produce that missing DLL message unless I'm running NVDA.Anyway, at this point seeing all the other problems other players are having, I've decided to pass on this game for now so Danny can focus on all those other problems.I might come back to this game in a couple of months or more. Maybe by then I'll have a little more success tith it.

Instead of going through all this jumping through hoops, just use CAPTCHA Be Gone, For just under $4 per month or about $35 per year, you get a CAPTCHA solver that works for both IE and FF and you never have to worry about how many CAPTCHAs you encounter. And, it works!

Aprone makes a good point. One thing we've suffered through in the development process is "mission creep"—things just kept getting bigger and bigger, and we kept putting more and more on our plates. Ian has had to remind me on several occasions that we have to keep our limitations in mind and start small. And even with those reminders, we've now been working on this game for something like four years. So in addition to Aprone's point, all I can say is, stay dedicated, keep your focus on the end goal, and always remember that everything is going to take longer and be harder than you expect.Also, take advantage of the resources available to you on this forum. Lots of wonderful, intelligent, generous people. It's really an amazing community.

As for the Windows version, I am looking forward to seeing it in the future; during the course of the next few months, I will be probably too busy anyway, so please do take your time, no matter how long it will take you! The ideas you shared with us are just awesome; maybe you can also add bicycles as well. But I can understand how much effort it takes to actually transfer all the ideas into real code, so I am not going to push you to get things done right away.

That's the goal. We don't want A Hero's Call to be the pinnacle—we want it to be the stepping stone.Just a quick note on price: we haven't set anything officially yet, but in our conversations we've come to the conclusion that it probably wouldn't be wise to stray outside the $15–$20 range, simply because anything higher than this is almost unheard of for an indie game. Games specifically for the blind can get away with charging $35–$40 or more because there's such a hungry market—and they also need to charge more since their market is sos mall. Since we plan on marketing the final full-graphics release to the indie marketplace as large, we want to keep our price point as close to the standard for that market as possible. So you can all thank the indie market for the low price you'll be paying.

Thanks for that, Pitch-shifting is what I thought, but wasn't sure.Anyhow, I kept getting this error message. The product ID cannot be found, or something like Error  dialog  There was an error with your product ID. The game cannot continue. The product ID does not exist. Ok.And I even set it up so it would run with Windows XP settings.

Some extreme pitch-shifting was used to record that voice, I'm sure. And you don't launch keygen.exe to generate your product id. You have to at first go as if you're ordering the game and press ctrl+g when in the game. That's where you type the name. If you hit ok and don't get an error there, then launch keygen.exe and it will generate your registration code.

Hello,nvda plugin is great idea, it have potential to link our minds with modern ides, so there would be less work and better results. Hovever I can not create nvda plugin yet, I looked into documentation few times and it seems there are many things to study for creating something like modified navigation in text field, so I am programming now something like ide from scratch in c++ to see how my ideas works in practice. I will post when i will have something usable, there will be two weeks pause because I will not be at home, but after it I will continue and try to done some basic text editor with improved navigation functionality as I descrybed in post 1. Then I will see if developing nvda plugin makes sense or not.Best regardsRastislav

Didn't think about this game the last eight years or so. I think I remember liking the puzzles very much but unfortunately, the Horror aspect was a bit destroyed because I had to laugh all the time since the narator wanted to be scary. Either he had a very sore throat or he had it after recording this  [[wow]], nostalgia strikes.
