some questions

hi all.I was playing some audio games and got some questions about audiogame developement and some other things.1. to audiogame developers, where do you find required sounds for an audiogame? And what program do you use to edit sounds? I'm asking this because I played many audio games and some of them have really cool sounds and I want to know how to make cool sounds.2. to audiogame developers who use python for developement. How do you compile python programs in secure way? Pyinstaller doesn't work for me due to pefile issues , so please tell me a different ways to do this? thanks

When I try to play the Mac version, I get an error that reads Check with the developer to make sure Cyclepath works with this version of macOS. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and macOS. Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple.. I guess I'll have to play the web version for now. I'm curious how the game stores user data? Is it located in cookies?

Hi,So first off, you don't simply lose saves, not as far as I know. The menus don't reflect the state of the setting and get set to a default value for now, I will change this later. Don't be alarmed that the settings menu doesn't reflect the settings you've put in, they do save. If they wouldn't, neither would your name and statistics. If you do lose saves please try to get it to happen again. Simply quitting out of a game doesn't save your stuff, but nothing should break or corrupt the data. Should. I could be wrong after all. But this has never happened to me.It could happen if you play the web version and you have cookies and local storage disabled, but as long as it's able to load your name and stats, you're fine.Jonny, you jump cars by unlocking ramps, which happens a bit into the game.Thank you all for

So before I begin my bug report, I'm just going to say I love this game.  It is extremely addicting.   . Anyway, prepare for an incoming bucket full of bugs (well, like 4.)Settings don't appear to be saving for me either.  I'm using the web version.If you're hit by a car at the beginning of the game before hitting space, your bike's engine shuts off, you can't do anything but press q.I haven't tried to reproduce this bug because I don't want to lose my save, but if you press space while a map is loading, the map stops loading and the game stops responding.  Only way to get it to run again is by reopening the page, but when you do that, your save disappears, or at least mine did.

Score is based on a lot of things, but the main factor is how closely you pass cars.The closer you pass cars, so the narrower you avoid your namesake, the more points you get. Notice how the pass car sound pitches? The higher the pitch, the more points. So you want to try to pass them as closely as possible without crashing.Also, clipping cars gives a looot of points. Try doing that as much as you can. Live dangerously and you shall be rewarded!Oh, and unlock ramps. Jumping over cars gives bonus points, too!

About the 3rd item on your list, you can actually use that to your advantage. Always swipe around in the center of your screen. If you want to jump down 4 or 5 production slots in a production building which can be great for getting to the add new production slot button, tap the bottom of the screen, and it will jump you down about 4 slots. Same for the top of the screen, it will jump you up about 4 slots.

I imagine one way to supplement the removal of visual design would be sculpting the soundscape of the environment instead. For example, when a sim walks across the room you can hear their footsteps as they move, but what do those steps sound like, are they walking on tiled lenolium or soft carpet for example. What are the sounds of the various kitchen appliances? Microwaves, blenders, the humm of the fridge when its open or perhaps artic sounds depending on the model. The creak or sounds of stairs, etc. Wallpaper could even effect audio occlusion and reverb properties of a given room. There are many possibilities of adding unique sounds and acoustics to objects that could be just as satisfying to arrange as decorating colored wall paper and designer sofa's.

Yup. As I recall, there are four of them. One steals caron, two explode and hurt you very badly, and the fourth is full of sleeping gas and can be opened multiple times. I've actually used that chest to get out of the temple basement a few times. So yeah, don't know what the deal is.

Hi folks,@zakc93. thanks for the change log. At first I was wondering what it meant by the change of "Quest line added to find treasure chests on the world map." but now I know in a very strange way. My last set of quests was full with 8 quests. yet when I was done and was going thru to verify I had done all I wanted to do before resetting, here was a new quest. it was to open 15 chest for a 5% increase in chest booty. and it too was completed. nice surprise. I will take it.@keyIsFull. Nice bug you found there. Sure saves time having to enter that area to expand storage like 30 times. In fact my last time I had to get 750 million in the bank. After I got that done I spent over 500 million using that bug to take my storage from what it was to over 14000. In fact while writing this I took my storage from 7000 to 9000 in a matter of seconds. so sure saved me a lot of time thereAnother change with this last update was "Bug Fix: Boost Quests cor
 rectly count all watched boosts, not just those watched since quest start." I wonder if this is why with this last reset I got a quest to use 2500 boosts yet it just showed up and is already completed.    Here are some other noteworthy items I wanted to mention. Now I think these might be indicative  of just me since no one else has reported them. I am using a iPhone 6 with the latest operating system. I have reset my game 3 times since last update. Some of these issues have gotten better but still problematic. Most just happen and are not recreatable other than just playing the game.1. I still get periodic intermittent lag issues. Swiping up and down and making the highlighted item switch is many times longer than should be. Also switching between screens takes much longer than usual. The frequency this lag happens varies. But I did notice that when it happens my phone's backside is pretty warm. Doesn't seem to happen as mmuch if its cool
 .2. Couple issues noticed with chest. The rate at which chests drops has doubled or more. I get many more doubles. I also get many times I just open a chest and another pops right in where the last one was almost immediately. Also the length they stay on the map seems to be halved. much shorter time. The drop rate and length in previous version was just about right in my opinion. Also my issue is with how the map shifts when a chest is entering or leaving. I have been swiping right or left to go from one area to another. hear the production area I want, only just microseconds before I double tap on it a chest will appear, or leave and I will end up double tapping on the item to the left or right of the one I want.3.  the highlighted item is jumping around again. I can be in the castle and just come out of selecting a boost and be half way down the list of quests. I can be swiping down a list of production slots and it will jump multiple rows. like from 5 to
  10 and such Or be in the city selling items and after selecting the item I will swipe right to get to sell all and when it says sell all it will jump down multiple items and be on sell 1.4. I recently had over 1  silver ore in the city to sell. When voice over read that amount it was single digits. I have not had any other item over 1 to verify if others do same.5. Still an issue with the princess keeping time. I knew I had a gift available but when I went into that area she said I still had about an hour and a half left. I closed the game and reopened it and the gift was available.If anyone else is experiencing any of these problems chime up and say something. This way the developers know its not a single instance of an issue. Or it just proves I really am going mad. mad I say. mwah ha ha!Shermanator

@roelvdwalThat isn't necessarily true. As I said, JAWS 15.0 works okay with VB, although the virtual toolbox is a bit slow at best and laggy at worst.

Now that's a bold assumption isn't it?I've been talking about a new lane splitter type game I've been working on, and while playing this morning I thought I'm just going to push it out here since I was having quite a lot of fun already.In this thing you unlock stuff, buy stuff, and most importantly race a bike, jump over cars using ramps, and a lot more! And if your computer supports it, you can play with effects and binaural audio!Before I dig myself deeper into a writers block with this whole thing...This is still pretty early software, there will be bugs. The game also talks about gamepad, but that doesn't actually work yet. The rest does, and as soon as I get the web version uploaded, it will probably also work on iOS and Android. The audio likes to crackle on mobile every now and then, and you might have to turn effects or binaural audio off.To try this, simply go to here and find the download for your OS, Mac, Linux and Windows are supported right now. Let's fix some bugs!Notes: To play, turn browse mode on if you're using NVDA, press NVDA Space. If you're using JFW, turn virtual cursor off with JFW Y. I don't see how vulnerabilities in a specific language have any major effect on an audiogame. Sure, if you are writing an app that becomes popular mainstream you might want to reconsidder, but when audiogames are coded in it who would take the time to develop an exploit for a specific audiogame, and then get past a router firewall and everything? Old languages might be a bit easier to reverse engineer, but many newer programming languages can be too. Python, for example was not even made for hiding your code so it is doable to get sourcecode out of a compiled program. I am not speaking from experience here, but you probably have to write in something extremely low-level to make reverse-engineering much more difficult. That said, I really can't understand why people would go with vb6 now, since apparently you need some ancient version of Jaws to even work with it and almost noone uses it, which will make getting help from other programmers on stackoverflow etc that much h
 arder. That said, It will probably work fine once you've learned it, but a 13 year unmaintained language might not be the sollution if you can't figure out a more modern language.

about the soundblaster advanced mb drivers, these were official sb emulation drivers made by creative themselves. unfortunately they are pretty hard to find, and I hardly doubt creative sells them anymore. a lot of dell service centers tend to install them during repairs as a fallback driver in case the regular sound card drivers are busted. it's soundfont support is more complete then basmidi going so far as to acuratly emulate the dsp, which basmidi falls short on.

You know? When I heard that Heartbleed was a code injection via overflow, I was surprised, on the grounds that I'd heard about this style of vulnerability since I'd started programming classes, and assumed that this meant that of course the big companies knew about this sort out vulnerability and accounted for it. Turns out they did not, or at least, not enough. Were my teachers unusually aware of this sort of thing (possibly by secretly having spent over a decade working on heartbleed), or did this stand for years, known but unpatched?

Kyleman, I think you've put a bit more faith in modern languages than they deserve.  There is always some new genius exploit someone could hypothetically come up with, if they are skilled enough and determined enough.  New languages are targeted constantly, and even as we sit here people all over the world are searching for new ways to break whatever is popular.Just because a language is still receiving updates do not mean you are in any way safer using it.  All it means is that you're more likely to have someone find a new vulnerability (since loads of people are looking), have more people use newly discovered exploit (these discoveries get spread around very quickly), and then yes eventually you get a patch to correct it.It's a lot like the old commercials in the early 2000s that talked about how Macs didn't get viruses but Windows machines do.  Windows dominated the marked by such a wide margin that people targeted it. 
  A terrorist doesn't blow up a single guy driving down a lonely country road when he could use the same device to blow up a bus full of people.  You go after the product being used by the most people.The list of VB6 vulnerabilities (and other old languages as well) are not exactly growing these days.  Even though everything has more exploits that could theoretically be found, the world isn't looking anymore.Really all of this is a little pointless since the exploits and vulnerabilities you're referring to are the sorts of things you get when websites and web services are involved.  Things like PHP injection where people can inject their own SQL commands due to issues with how the php language handles user input.  Those are exploits that you need to worry about because they are interacting with outsiders.  If you have a game on your own computer, it could have 500 holes in it and it isn't going to matter.

Yes exactly. And even after 2020, you can bet your life that people will be working diligently to keep it alive just as they have XP. And of course if your hardware can run Win8.1 and you're not averse to the little bit of extra effort to tweak it required, there's that to get you another 3 years, to 2023.But unfortunately I don't believe the collective resistance of a few nerds will be enough to push back. It's not like Windows 8 where the OS just clearly wasn't suitable for the use cases desktop users had for it. For a substantial number of users, Windows 10 really is the modern upgrade they're looking for, and they can relate to it far better from their experience of smartphones and tablets. It's hard not to be a bit disillusioned.

aprone I was not saying i had VB6 or BGT exploits hiding up my sleeves. the likely hood however of bugs and/or vulnerabilities for said languages are pretty high. the problem is people neither disclose them properly, or if they do, they are never patched. i kind of think of it as if you are living in schrodinger's termite infested house. you actively ignore or are oblivious or don't care that there are termites that may or may not be eating away at the supports of your house. until you go look (find bugs or vulnerabilities) or wait until your house collapses around you, you think nothing is wrong. as this topic titles says, you think its not broke but you can't actually verify that. you are vertually sitting in your house with blinders on thinking your house is structurally sound while the time clock is ticking away on a impending crash. if you care at all, even a tiny bit, then stop using old deprecated languages that will never get updates. if you don't

Hi.I have just tried the latest version, and here are my opservations:1. Voiceover don't read what title of the game you are pressing play on. It just reads "Play" so you don't know what title you are choosing. I don't remember seeing this issue previously.2. When I have to speak the very first command in Path, the game crashes. Voiceover don't even read the buttons on the screen, but jumps to the status line at the top. That means I can't play the game, and I'm forced to close the app by the app switcher.It would be very nice to make the choices directly on the screen instead of being forced to use the voice commands. I look very much forward to see what's coming in the future.

Somehow I was able to kill renfield the zomby on hard difficulty. Here are some advices for anyone interested in this topic. First, an important note. Remember, you can beat this boss only while one live lasts. Whenever you start a new live, monster's health restores to full as well. Seriously all over the map.I'd love one of the resident game experts to put together a checklist, because I thought I got everything that run (well, everything you can do on easy, anyway). Wheel of Spacetime, all the little caves and ruins on the main map, all the items you get by going back into dungeon boss rooms, the Potsihitsu 1000-point score, the treasure chest game, plus the various purchasable items in the volcano village and forest village after you do their temple. Only thing I didn't do was buy every single possible charm of recovery, but I'm pretty sure that's not necessary (I bought three of them, only ended up actually using one of them, so that was a waste). But yeah. Pretty sure there aren't three items in the extra dungeon, so I'd just love to know where I went wrong.

I like how some people are able to describe things that much detailed.I haven't thought much about how to make all that accessible, but it might be possible, but also very overwhelming. I think you need to pause the game to review all that information, or have a quick way to get the information you need. But that might take the fun out of the game. The description reminds me about Castaways.

I think like Minecraft, a large part of the Sims games come down to creativity in how things are laid out and how they are decorated.  When sight is removed, it also removes most of those parts of the games.  Someone could pretty easily put together an accessible sims type game that focused only on the non decoration side of the game, but it might not be all that fun.  It's almost like having a job where part of it is fun and part of it is work, and someone says they're reshaping your job so the fun part was removed.  Putting in the effort to manage your sims was work, but it was worth it because it enabled you to do the graphical decoration parts, in a work/reward trade off.

OK, so I used to play this, I've played Sims 2, 3, and 4 because I had enough vision to read the stuff on the screen, if only barely. A couple aspects of it could be made accessible, I feel, but other would be much more of a challenge. The text when you interact with something that gives you the choices on what you want to do in circles radiating outward with your Sim at the center, those I could see being made to work with a screen reader. A lot of the game is pointing and clicking though, like, say you choose to go from your house to somewhere in the town like a bar. You'll get there and you'll be on the street. You'd have to click somewhere on the inside of the bar, and then click walk or move or whatever. How would that be made accessible, as its a 3D environment. Also, you have to do things like click on people in order to do actions like start conversations, flirt, invite them to your house, stuff like that. How would that work. I mean, for people I could
  kind of see it, like, you could arrow through a list of named and hit enter to see the choices, then pick one, but the rest, I mean, same for objects, but that's so hmm, I don't know, but it takes the fun out of it in my opinion. The cool thing about being able to click somewhere and move there is you can stand anywhere, I don't like things where you have to be in a preset location, or select a preset thing. This is why I got out of second life. Because, while some aspects were accessible, I couldn't do enough on my own to justify my continued use of it.I think it would get pretty overwhelming to say, throw a party at your house. You'll get Sims at your house and you'll need to entertain them. Keep in mind also that you need to manage your own needs. There's a pane at the bottom of the screen that has a few sections, left is like a status screen, it shows a little avatar of your face, your money, controls to pause, resume, and change the sp
 eed, controls to cut the walls out so you can see in your house, and to move to the upper floor and so on. It also has icons to switch to the other tabs, which when you do that completely changes the middle pane. But needs. You have needs, and there are consequences for not keeping them fulfilled. If you have the game on um... hmm, there is an option for this, its a slider if I remember called autonomy. What happens is, on the higher settings, the AI will have your sim do stuff, like make his own food if he's hungry, use the bathroom, shower and all that stuff, in which you're a sort of guide. The way it works is that you can queue up things that you want him to do, and that shows up in the top left of the screen, and they disappear when those things are done. On the extreme opposite is no autonomy. Here, you literally have to do that stuff, or suffer the consequences, he'll pee in his pants, get depressed and start crying, and all sorts of stuff. Needs include hunger
 , hygiene social, fun, bladder, probably others I'm forgetting. You would have to manage that.Also, there are these clouds that pop up over your Sim's head on occasion to let you know what he's thinking or wanting. Like, a cloud with small z's that get bigger and bigger let you know he's ready for bed. You see stuff like a slice of pizza show up there, and you'll need to be able to have access to those clouds in order to try to fulfill them.One area that's probably completely out is house building, but that's my favorite part of the game, so that kind of stinks. I had hours and hours of fun just building houses. Also, in that same regard, placing furniture and stuff will probably be hard too, I mean, to make it look OK.Anyway, yeah I could go on and on about this stuff, so best to wrap it up here.
