I'm going to use federal law since that's mainly where all this copyright danger comes from if the audiogames.net forum admin is actually in the US.The first section we need to look at is section 117 of Title 17 of the United States Code (Limitations on exclusive rights: Computer programs) (it's referenced as 17 U.S.C. 117). It says, and I quote:(a) Making of Additional Copy or Adaptation by Owner of Copy.—Notwithstanding the provisions of section 106, it is not an infringement for the owner of a copy of a computer program to make or authorize the making of another copy or adaptation of that computer program provided:(1) that such a new copy or adaptation is created as an essential step in the utilization of the computer program in conjunction with a machine and that it is used in no other manner, or(2) that such new copy or adaptation is for archival purposes only and that all archival copies are destroyed in the event that continued possession of the computer program should cease to be rightful.(b) Lease, Sale, or Other Transfer of Additional Copy or Adaptation.—Any exact copies prepared in accordance with the provisions of this section may be leased, sold, or otherwise transferred, along with the copy from which such copies were prepared, only as part of the lease, sale, or other transfer of all rights in the program. Adaptations so prepared may be transferred only with the authorization of the copyright owner.(c) Machine Maintenance or Repair.—Notwithstanding the provisions of section 106, it is not an infringement for the owner or lessee of a machine to make or authorize the making of a copy of a computer program if such copy is made solely by virtue of the activation of a machine that lawfully contains an authorized copy of the computer program, for purposes only of maintenance or repair of that machine, if—(1) such new copy is used in no other manner and is destroyed immediately after the maintenance or repair is completed; and(2) with respect to any computer program or part thereof that is not necessary for that machine to be activated, such program or part thereof is not accessed or used other than to make such new copy by virtue of the activation of the machine.(d) Definitions.—For purposes of this section—(1) the "maintenance" of a machine is the servicing of the machine in order to make it work in accordance with its original specifications and any changes to those specifications authorized for that machine; and(2) the "repair" of a machine is the restoring of the machine to the state of working in accordance with its original specifications and any changes to those specifications authorized for that machine.So, to summarize, in English, without all the legalese within:Making of Additional Copy or Adaptation by Owner of Copy: It is not an infringement of U.S. copyright law if the owner of a computer program makes a copy of their own computer program (or authorizes the copying of such a program), or the owner of a program adapts their own program (or authorizes the adaptation of that particular program) provided:that such a copy or adaptation is a required step in the utilization of the computer program in question in conjunction with the use of a machine, and that the copy or adaptation is used for no other purpose, orthat such copies or adaptations of the original computer program are for archival purposes only and that, should the continued possession of them become unlawful or illegal, such copies or adaptations are destroyed immediately.Lease, Sale, or Other Transfer of Additional Copy or Adaptation: The newly made copy or adaptation of a computer program may be leased, sold, or transferred so long as the holder of the copyright (the person authorized to make the copies or adaptations of the original computer program in question) gives up their own rights to the program; and that such a lease, sale, or transfer of the rights of one copyright holder to another must be authorized by the original copyright owner (the creator) of that computer program. Not, unless, of course, your ready to hack the executable and entirely reverse engineer it. But to actual manage to decompile the parser, lexical analyzer, or both, and figure out the list of reserved words, block structure, etc well, that probably requires a master of reverse engineering, decompilation, assembly language and computing and I doubt anyone on this forum even comes close to matching all of that. If there is someone on this forum who is, indeed, said person, or is an expert in one of those fields, I apologize for offense; however, to be able to get so deep into the language itself either shows that Phillip told you about such a blocks existence or you are one of the worlds top reverse engineers ever scene in the last 4 centuries. Hate to break it to you, but that sounds awfully far fetched. In fact, I'd say that that sounds nearly impossible. If you were to disassemble bgt.exe, I doubt you'd "just" somehow find namespaces in there. In fact, I just disassembled it and found no reference to the word 'namespace'. Looking for 'name' and 'space' find me no results either. So I find it really hard to believe that you figured this out by looking inside the BGT executable binary when you didn't even have the debugging symbols as aids. Either you are an incredibly skilled program hacker and you used a disassembler I am unaware of, or you are lying. (And no, I doubt you could discover this feature by decompilation either. I've done that before -- the resulti ng code is an absolute mess and impossible to understand.) Re: Code 7 - A fully-voiced text adventure Well they have a site on ich.io and thats where I got the demo from its also where you can buy the entire game from, not sure what it is now but it is all one game.I got the season pass for 16 bucks when it was on sale.At any rate, what will probably happen is if you brought the game, you get access to the games files for that game.So previously if you get extras and updates to the game those will appear on the games files.You will get a notification from ich unless the game is a different game in which you need to rebuy, however, if its a different version or something for something else but still the same game then its fine.Ich also support steam keys as well as direct internally so the system is sound enough.You can buy steam directly on steam or claim steam through ich if you buy direct from ich so thats not a problem.I buy a lot of my renpy visual books from ich myself and the system is reasonably good. I've made some changes to the display output in recent versions, what screen reader are you using and does your braille display work otherwise with other programs? The braille output in brushtone also isn't enabled by default, you can turn it on and cycle through the different display modes by pressing F6 and it will display pixels on the current row to the right of the cursor.As CAE_Jones mentioned the Sonifier is based on Peter Meijers [The vOICe], and you can use that to help get a better feel for it. It works by converting the whole image into a single sound, or a region if your using the select tool in BrushTone, which is why you only ever hear one sound regardless of where the cursor is. Each pixel in the image is represented by a tone in the sound being played, the pitch of each tone determines the vertical position of each pixel with a higher pitch being hi gher up on the screen, and a lower pitch being lower on the screen. The time it takes to play determines each pixels horizontal position on the screen from left to right, and the volume represents how bright or dark the pixel is. By default Brushtone converts images to greyscale for sonifying, though it does have filters for the red, green, and blue channels of an image. While it can take some getting used to, its one of the few ways of getting a general overall view of an area through sound. Although perhaps I should also look into implementing some similar tutorials and guides for the Sonifier, or providing additional links and information for The vOICe in BrushTone. JAWS is only good with the interface, selecting teams, etc. Once you're ingame you need to have a good knowledge of hockey and the players' name to know if you have the puck or the opposing team is the one carrying it. Also, if you don't play with headphones you can't know if you're on the right or left side of the ice. It's based on the vOICe, which takes loads of getting use to, but the learning edition for Windows does have a couple practice games (tic-tac-toe and a sequence of random shapes). It's easy-ish to get use to big, mostly straight lines, but more complex images take practice to interpret. The Tic-tac-toe game actually helps a little, because it makes you get use to the sound of intersections and circles in gradually more complex configurations.(Come to think of it, I kinda think the vOICe was database material, back before the database got flooded with enough simple games that the filtering had to get pickier.) Tolk, NVDA and cursor keys I'm sending speech requests through Tolk, for common screen readers to vocalize. I'm testing it using NVDA, on Windows 7.The game I'm trying to write is partially real time, in that the player steers a boat using the cursor keys. However, I've found that depressing a cursor key for any length of time interrupts any speech requests. I think it has something to do with the keyboard autorepeat. I've discovered that I can use any other keys without a problem, as long as the keyboard preferences in NVDA are set so it doesn't speak the key pressed or generate a speech interrupt when a key is pressed.I was wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problems, or has experience using Tolk.I also found that the initial Tolk_Load command seemed to inhibit the use of mciSendString when trying to play an audio file, unless an audio file is played before issuing the Tolk_Load command. If an audio file is played before Tolk_Load is c alled then the audio works fine afterwards.I'm using BBC BASIC for Windows, but I'm pretty sure the language isn't the cause of any of these oddities.Thanks for any feedback you can provide. I don't know how you can tell it's a sidescroller. lol It doesn't sound that way to me, but maybe we're just hearing it differently. haha.@nuno69, Lirin already said it, and I mentioned it in the first post right now. These sounds, so far, are placeholders most likely. They don't even know the name of the game yet, so why would they come up with a whole bunch of different sounds this early in the development stage? And even if these sounds do stay, the combat definitely sounds like it has a combo system, special moves, and is generally a lot faster and more fluid this time, and the mix is better than in Shadow Line as well. And there are indeed some new sounds, if you listen. Galaxy Labs has delivered before and I trust they'll deliver again... given that they spent four or five years ironing out Shadow Line to what it is now. Accessible anti virus programs Witch anti virus programs are accessible for blind people? In other words, witch ones are people currently using and do they work with screen readers? I am using Webroot and it has 0 screen reader support. NVDA won't even read the hole screen when pressing capslock b, and none of the menus open with the keyboard or mouse. Someone on this forum said to desable it to get some games or programs installed, and I can't do that because it's not accessible. So, I want to know what people use and if it's better than Webroot so I can try using it. I've tryed the built in Windows Defender, and it's not very good meaning it doesn't really protect the computer from viruses so I got Webroot. However, it never had vocalizer sapi voices.
