Sure, but my point is: We have seen a few games which no one thought would be playable, but they are playable anyway. Resident evil 7 for example.

The server don't totally crash. But it crash in a way which makes one of the game modes hang. So I don't think it's possible to make a script which checks for that.

For those who remember the old sega genesis, the gameplay reminds me of a game called space harrier. In that game you're also constantly moving forward, blasting things out of your way.Oh and in space harrier you could also fly.It was one of those games that was ahead of its time. With this one, obviously, bob can't fly.I must admit, it is a rather addictive little game to kill time.If apple weren't so uptight with their restrictions, I could easily see myself playing this on my phone.

Hi,@assault_freak, fare enough. for you android does a better job, for me ios is way better than android is, a matter of opinion is all. but like I said in my previous post, I have stated all that I can in another topic so lets not turn this into another android vs IOS topics. and I for one can't think of a single reason to consider an android phone over a Iphone right now, well I own one anyway, which just sits collecting dust.Speaking of the new ITunes, honestly I haven't tried it so far,but like crashmaster says, its a advantage in 1 way and not so much in another. You either have a bloated ITunes that does everything but makes you want to punch your pc,hard.or  a unbloated ITunes that makes things slightly difficult anyway by not taking proper backups of phones? that is all the apps and the like. or that is what I have gathered from reading on here...At the person speaking on the watch, its not the type of thing everyone needs, but
for the ones that do, its fantastic, specially the new celular watch.and err, why would you need to lift the watch to your ear? it has a jack I believe for headphones or a speaker loud enough for you to here shite Grryf

Re: Madden Accessibility Update

I don't have a TV, so I would need to get one, then a console. Oh god the pain, which one to choose, I hate xbox 360 because its nothing but an ad campaign always slamming pics and vids on the side you don't care anything about, the interface is clunky and weird, and I doubt the xbox 1 is any better in that regard, but its got narrator, so probably has more blind players. Now, the pS4, My brother has one and when I was rooming with him, I played a lot of games on it, and I love it. Not only does it beat out the xbox 1 on paper, but the interface is nice compared to xbox, well 360, I can't compare to xbox 1 because I have never so much as seen one. However, ps4 has the limited text to speech, which, let's face it is probably just to satisfy US FCC regulations. The ps4 is going to have less players. I don't have the money for all this right now, but madden 18 is definitely on the list if its getting accessibility stuff done to it.Xbox, ps4, xbox,
ps4, xbox, ps4... urgh. My heart says PS4 all the way. Because there are other games besides Madden I'd want to play with peeps from this community, like MKX, Injustice 2, Killer instinct, etc. The good news is for a TV, I can get one fairly cheaply, because I don't need a 50 inch screen that supports 4K when my vision sucks, and is only in one eye. So its just paying for the console.

Swamp would be interesting, the grind of it holds no interest for me, but RPing there might. I'd have to configure my keys to use the arrows on the keyboard for turning, as I don't have a mouse anymore, only a laptop track pad, and that's just crazy. You don't want that autobuild if you're trying to save space / resources because it installs a bunch of stuff you don't need including 3 or do desktops. I have gotten it to run flawlessly in a VM though.  You do not want the new KDE whatever they're calling it, plasma or whatever, because it has 3D compiz stuff in it that basically composes a 3D desktop and will make the situation so much worse.Honestly though, if you can't even get mate working reasonably well, its time for a new system.

Re: DT in BGT

2017-09-14 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : JLove via Audiogames-reflector

Re: DT in BGT

Any way to use a handle to reference the correct theta?  I tried something like:void move(theta@ T)but the compiler wasn't pleased.  The only global variables I have for the purposes of this test are in the main test script, vectest.bgt:#include "sound_pool.bgt"#include "voice.bgt"#include "math.bgt"#include "ball.bgt"#include "clock.bgt"#include "player.bgt"#include "logger.bgt"#include "snapshot.bgt"Voice speaker;sound_pool env;ball B;player user;player opponent;logger test;bool testing;clock C(150);void main(){show_game_window("");init(); //This is simply to return DT correctly.B.pos.z = 500;  ..Giving the ball enough height for testing.while(true){move(2.5);//Just different key checks for testing purposes, to
  make sure values are correct.if(key_pressed(KEY_D))speaker.speak(drag.x + ", " + drag.y + ", " + drag.z + ".");if(key_pressed(KEY_P))speaker.speak(B.pos.x + ", " + B.pos.y + ", " + B.pos.z + ".");if(key_pressed(KEY_V))speaker.speak(vel.x + ", " + vel.y + ", " + vel.z + ".");if(key_pressed(KEY_F))speaker.speak(C.frame);}}void move(double theta){B.moving = true;test.write("test.log", true);B.pos += vel*DT;test.add_entry(C.frame);if(B.pos.z <= 0){env.destroy_all();B.moving = false;testing = false;exit();}if(C.frame == 5){B.slot = env.play_2d("sounds/ball.ogg", user.x, user.y, B.pos.x, B.pos.y, false);C.frame = 0;}C.tick();C.update();env.update_sound_2d(B.slot, B.pos.x, B.pos.y);}
As you can see, no theta.  in ball.bgt:class ball{float x, y, z;vector pos(0, 0, 0);int slot;//These booleans will be adjusted given the new vector implementation, but for now, they can remain.bool tossing = false;bool moving = false;bool rising = false;bool choosing = false;ball(){x = 0;y = 0;z = 0;}ball(float x, float y, float z, int slot){this.x = x;this.y = y;this.z = z;this.slot = slot;}Again, no declaration of theta.In math.bgt:double CT = 1.2;double DT;double theta;double deg;float M2 = 0.057;float x, y, z;float d;float roh = 1.151;float A = 0.0033;float CD = 0.507;float FL;float DX = (CD*roh*A)*power((vel.x/2),2);float DY = (CD*roh*A)*power((vel.y/2),2);float DZ = (CD*roh*A)*power((vel.z/2),2);const double pi = 3.14159265358979;
As you can see, this is the only theta.  And since math.bgt is not a class, these variables should be treated as global, just as they are in the main vectest.bgt script.  If I change theta in math.bgt, it does change in main.  However, if I pass theta to ball, it does not change in main, which means the theta in math.bgt is not being updated correctly.  I'm not sure how there is a scope issue, since any variable in math.bgt is global. I'm wearing my air necklace too, but with usually depending on the location I'm wearing, soft pants, slip-on shoes, a camo shirt sunglasses and a hat of some kind, usually the cowboy hat. lolAnyway I have to say the heat is damn tough to beat at times even with ice from the mountain, its even worse if I'm trying to fight something kinda dangerous. Especially when they come outta nowhere. rofl Nearly got malled by a bear on the mainland. I read up later that they can spawn by the clay area, but that seems kinda crazy to have running about as newbies are totally unprepared for such a challenge.Clearly with the amount of cash I've spent on STW already I'm enjoying the game, but it'd be nice to have the temperature balanced a bit better. Just my two cents of course. Also a big thanks to Smoke J and the guys at BSG for all the help with the super useful audio
tutorials.I'll have to drop some payPal thanks on y'all just as soon as I can

I just don't think audiogames are the right medium for two huge huge reasons1. The community is too small honestly.2. (I ran into this) People don't  tend to follow rules and have hissy fits in some siuations. Now about my RP...yeah, I write, I...freaking...WRITE, talking 5-10k word posts when I'm on my game. So, yeah, I don't think Swamp or STW are the right games, MUD maybe, but I'd still argue in favor of a forum sine it's a lot easier and reaches out to sighted players as well to get more to interact with than a few people.MUD arewell it depends who is running the show honestly, though that's the same anywhere, thoughI'd say if you wanna do this, do a forum, make it awesome, original and put it up on RPG-Directory, and you should get people, hell I know quitethere.Lastly, I personally stick to one specific theme and run with it. I can fire over a sample for ya to peruse ifs ya want
Oh, one more thing.I think by limiting yourself to this site you're doing yourself a disservice honestly...it's a shame, the world needs more talented writersOkay, bout that sample, sonofaben tryina find that mail for five years, I NOW find it. I'm hoarding this.. take. Then again, I cut my teeth on a brutal game where RP was only part of it, but I managed to amusingly enough lead two factions on it, TWICE, and honestly still know more about several players than they know. Admittedly.yeah, said game was drama filled and not worth it past a certain point so I left, plus it fawken HATED screenreaders, and suchbut I will say I did meet some good people on  a few blind people on RPG-D who turn their noses up at audiogames as beneath them and their creative side, I can get where they are coming from. The secret to RP isand this is gonna be obvious..a good crowd of people. , that all can give and take and have f

Hello guys!I have 2 questions:1: Sometimes, when I create a project in visual studio 2015 and other areas of it, the program crashes completely, being necessary that I close by the task manager.
What can I do? My notebook has quad core with 1.6 ghz, 4 gb of memory ran and windows 10.2: If I use jaws, when I'm browsing the code it changes the voice by using the voice schemas, and sounds, or speaking normally like NVDA? They say that the emaxspeak has this feature, change of voice, and so I ask if there to the jaws also.

Re: EBook reading type devices

@CW, I think you mean Easy Reader from Dolphin. It is free, very promising, but it's still in its imfancy. As regards Seeing Eye, I think it too is in its in imfancy as the only source of getting images is through your photo library or by taking a picture. It may have a very good OCR engine, but say, I scan a page with my scanner and upload the file to dropbox, there is no way I could precisely get the image converted to text, as Seeing eye cannot recognise that it is an image with text, but it is recognised as a scene. What do I mean by "scene" is; the Seeing Eye divides the types of images into channels, that stand as a recognition section of images which portray a document, a short text, a person, or a scene. Depending on what you want to photograph, you have to select one of the afore mentioned sections for a satisfactory recognition. Many people could praise Seeing Eye as the best program for recognising images, but my favourite still remains TapTapSe
e which sometimes gives incredibly accurate descriptions.

Roleplay Request Thread

2017-09-14 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : Swagtastic via Audiogames-reflector

Roleplay Request Thread

Howdy there everybody. You'll find a current character list at the bottom of this post as they're submitted and approved.    I'm feeling that familiar roleplay craving, and I was wondering if anyone here on the forum might be interested in some roleplaying on either Survive the Wild, Swamp, or any other audio game of that sort. I have a starting point and an idea for both of the games I mentioned, and I've been thinking about the right way of starting out for a few weeks. Now that I have enough background together, I figured i'd throw my ideas out here on the forum to see if I could gather anyone's interest. Also, if you aren't very interested in roleplaying through the medium of audio games, (i'm new to it myself) I'm also completely open to roleplaying on MUDs, though they aren't usually the type of games that I play. I don't have much exposure to them. However, if you can be patient with a new player,
I can absolutely assure you that my writing skills are up to the challenge.Don't know what Roleplay is? Read this: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=22648Le' Rules:1) Be respectful OOC. It's one thing to have an argument between characters IC, it's another completely to get rude and nasty OOC because of IC antics. In-fighting and troublemaking will not be tolerated. If all you want to do is ruin other people's experience, this isn't the place for you.2) It isn't all about you. A roleplay revolves around a CAST of characters. In the user's eye, their player is the hero. But one thing to keep in mind is that.. We're all heroes. We're all protagonists. Do everything you can, do everything you want to, just don't infringe upon another player's right to have fun. They're just as entitled to it as you are.3) Don
39;t meta-game, please. Meta-gaming is taking OOC information that your character wouldn't know, and acting as though your character has that information when it would normally be impossible for them to do so. Here's an example.    Ok, so Player A and Player B are at war. Player A doesn't know where Player B is in character, but is trying to search for him. Player B says something in the OOC chat that he's in the desert. Player A sees this message, and though his character doesn't actually know that his target is in the desert in character, he goes to the desert anyway and kills him, even though his character would have no knowledge of that character's location. That's just.. Not cool. It's one thing to discover someone or something organically, and make it make sense with your character. For example, if Player A knew that Player B spent a majority of his time in the desert previously, he could logically assume that would be w
here to find him. It's another thing completely to just use meta-information to give yourself an edge over the other players. Long story short, just don't do this. It ruins the fun for everybody.4) In most instances, player death is permanant. Death is permanent in reality, so it is in roleplay as well. Glitches and bugs excluded, for obvious reasons. If your character dies, you can still make another character and keep going in the roleplay. But if a character dies, they're dead. No respawns. Adds more flavor to the whole experience, and makes death actually feel impactful and meaningful.5) Be as creative as possible. If you have an idea-- let me and the others in the group know! It might just be the best idea we've had for the game up to that point. Creative ideas are literally what keep an RP going.6) Commitment is ideal. Real life obviously takes priority over a game, but you should do your best to be in it for the long haul. You can leav
e at any time, that's no problem-- I just like long-term games.7) DM (me) holds the final say on disputes. If nobody can logically decide how to resolve a situation, I'll figure it out myself. If I can't decide, outcome will be decided via roll of a twenty-sided dye, a coin flip, or some other similar method dependent on situation.8) Rules will be updated as I see fit.    IdeasThey're actually pretty straightforward. I want to really get in character with these games. First things first, Survive the Wild. STW has this huge, expansive world to explore, quests to complete, resources to gather and items to craft. The mechanics of the game really speak for themselves, and provide the players the perfect avenue for roleplaying within it. With that being said, my idea is to simply create a character with a basic backstory, and take the roles of newly shipwrecked survivors who are trying to make their way through a tough
an inhospitable world. We'll treat the game as reality-- speak only in character (when possible, obviously) and do our best to form a survival plan that will benefit the group as a whole. Building shelter, hunting, fishing, crafting-- our whole goal is the goal of the game, survival. However, as we go on, we'll collaboratively create new objectives for our little tribe to overcome.

Re: EBook reading type devices

I thought that the price of voice dream reader has went up to $15 or so. I could be wrong though. To me, voice dreamer is the app I like. It seems like there might be a another app out there that does something like voice dream reader, but I can not remember the name. All I recall is that voice dreamer has just the cost for the app it self and no monthly charges for the different voices like the other app I thought I heard about. Anyway, voice dream reader has the different voices you can get if you are willing to buy them within the app. Not only that, the selection of file types is nice. For example: TXT, HTMl, EPUB, PDF, MP3, and ETC. The fact that I can have the app can get the books from dropbox. In short, I preference is to to read my bookshare books with this app instead of my victor reader stream. Yes, my stream does get use for books from NLS, but it is voice dream reader  for stuff that requires TTS. I also have been known to use Openbook to scan stuff into the PC.
I also have the KNFB app on my phone plus there is the seeing AI thing that MS has for IOS which is an app that I need to try out. Anyway, I yes, I agree that IBooks is a good start. I, myself, would love to see a good braille EReader. It is funny that there is a stand alone EBook reader for the sighted while we move over to the phone and PC. As far as I know, the kindle makes a good EBook device for the sighted because of the EInk display. To bad that the Bard app does not always remember the my spot. Of course the bard app does not always handle the focus being taken away by phone calls and the like all that well either. That is basicly why I still use the stream for NLS. Plus it is a little quicker getting the NLS books on to the stream.

I wouldn't say slightly accessible... this just sounds like a game where you can't play on your own, period.

Now that I have enough background together, I figured i'd throw my ideas out here on the forum to see if I could gather anyone's interest.Don't know what Roleplay is? Read this: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=22648Le' Rules:1) Be respectful OOC. It's one thing to have an argument between characters IC, it's another completely to get rude and nasty O
OC because of IC antics. They're just as entitled to it as you are.3) Don't meta-game, please. Meta-gaming is taking OOC information that your character wouldn't know, and acting as though your character has that information when it would normally be impossible for them to do so. Here's an example.    Ok, so Player A and Player B are at war. Player A doesn't know where Player B is in character, but is trying to search for him. Player B says som
ething in the OOC chat that he's in the desert. Player A sees this message, and though his character doesn't actually know that his target is in the desert in character, he goes to the desert anyway and kills him, even though his character would have no knowledge of that character's location. That's just.. Not cool. It's one thing to discover someone or something organically, and make it make sense with your character. For example, if Player A knew that Player B spent a majority of his time in the desert previously, he could logically assume that would be where to find him. If your character dies, you can still
make another character and keep going in the roleplay. You can leave at any time, that's no problem-- I just like long-term games.7) DM (me) holds the final say on disputes.
With that being said, my idea is to simply create a character with a basic backstory, and take the roles of newly shipwrecked survivors who are trying to make their way through a tough an inhospitable world. Perhaps one o f the characters contracts some sort of illness, and we have to venture toward the hospital in search of life-saving antibiotics. Maybe one of the characters gets sick of all of us and ventures off on their own, and the rest of the tribe takes up the task of tracking them down and convincing them that there's strength in numbers. As long as we're creative, the

2017-09-14 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : Swagtastic via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Diablo 3 accessibility

I can say from personal experience that this game isn't playable solo-- you'll need sighted assistance for navigation. However, as previously stated in this thread, you have a few options for that.1) Play online with a sighted friend who can kind of shepard you through the dungeon. They can also help with your skill loadout.2) Play split-screen with a friend in person, and your character will follow theirs as they move around. That friend can also help you with your inventory and skill load out as needed.     Visual barrier aside, it's a really fun game. You can lock on to enemies by holding down the left trigger (on Xbox 1) so that takes a lot of the guess-work out of the equation in regard to aiming.     Aside from that, I don't really know a good way of navigating the dungeons. It's not something that you can exactly put a guide together for, either. There are static areas that always stay the same, but fo
r the most part, the dungeons are randomly generated as you walk on to the floor. So, to use one in-game example, your Catacombs won't be the same thing as my catacombs-- my dungeon might have two branching passages, while yours is just one giant straight-shot room.    Therefore, my final verdict on this is.. Slightly accessible? The combat and teamwork is great, the story is fantastic, and the character classes are really fun to play around with. However, you absolutely need sighted assistance to play this game. There's no way around that. And really, it's only playable to the extent i'm talking about on console versions as far as i'm aware. The PC version is more of a  point-and-click sort of affair.

Re: DT in BGT

2017-09-14 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : JLove via Audiogames-reflector

Re: DT in BGT

Ok, I think I discovered the issue.I wanted to track when theta was changing value, so I did the following:I added the following lines to main():test.write("test.log", true);test.add_entry("Theta in main is " + theta + ".");In ball:test.write("test.log", true);test.add_entry("Theta in move is " + theta + ", T1 is " + T1 + ", and T2 is " + T2 + ".");And in math, I had to create a function, since it seems that for some reason you can only write to a log file within a function:void debug(){test.write("test.log", true);test.add_entry("Theta in math is " + theta + ".");}This is what the log shows:Theta in main is 0.Theta in move is 4.5, T1 is 1, and T2 is 0.Absolutely nothing, not even 0, in math.  Math is not listed at all in the log, and it should be.  What this loo
ks like to me is that the original theta, the one in math, which is the only one I declared, isn't changing at all.  Evidence of this is in the values of 1 and 0 respectively for T1 and T2.  Keep in mind that if theta were truly 4.5, then T1 and T2 would be much different, since T1 = cosine(theta), and T2 = sine(theta).  If I were to go into math and change double theta; to double theta = 4.5, then theta is now changed in main, in move it remains 4.5, and now T1 and T2 are:Theta in main is 4.5.Theta in move is 4.5, T1 is -0.21079579943078, and T2 is -0.977530117665097.What that seems to mean is that somehow, a new theta is being declared in void move(double theta)or the value for theta isn't updating correctly.  The thing is, I never declare another theta other than in math:  double theta; In move, I do not declare theta:void move(double theta){B.moving = true;test.write("test.log", tru
e);test.add_entry("Theta in move is " + theta + ", T1 is " + T1 + ", and T2 is " + T2 + ".");B.pos += vel*DT;test.add_entry("Ball is now at " + B.pos.x + ", " + B.pos.y + ", " + B.pos.z + ".");env.update_sound_2d(B.slot, B.pos.x, B.pos.y);... //more code related to frames and such.It almost looks like the line void move(double theta) is somehow creating a separate variable named theta.  I've never had that happen before.  I thought that it was legal to say:  void function(data type variable), and it would simply pass the original declared variable value, not create a new one.  Which means that when I say:move(2.6)the original theta that I declared in math should become 2.6.  This is how it has always worked for me in the past.  If I passed a variable, i.e., void move(int direction), or void shot(int ShotType), it always up
dated correctly.  This should be no different.  And besides, now that I think about it, theoretically, if it is creating another instance of theta, then wouldn't I get a compiler error based on name conflict?  I think it's something like:  "'theta' is already declared."This issue makes no damn sense to me.

Re: Ding! Our Real-time anonymous chat service is here!

Okay so I'm slightly confused here. Is this something you have to install, or just something you can use in your browser? Only because in the original post that you linked us to in your very first post, it seemed like something you could just make work from the browser. Now however, it looks like something you have to install. So... yeah. Just curious.

Re: Alter Aeon September 2017 Update

Okay, here's my really basic rundown on necro minions. The big ones, I mean, not the skeletons/tanks.Zombie: almost completely useless IMHO. Decent tanks, but they're slower than dirt.Ghouls: killing machines. I use them often.Mummies: Never used them much, but they do like using curses and they have decent resists I think.Vampires: use harm and chill touch and intimidate, and they'll respawn if they die. Probably the overall strongest, but cost a lot to control.

I just hope, they didn't screw up the accessibility of ITunes for Windows with their new Version. I don't use it that often. Only to buy TV-Shows and movies in the US-Store. That's actually something I like about Apple. You can download your purchases onto your Computer. As for the new products, well, there was not much, that wasn't known before. I am not really interested in the IPhone anymore, since they removed the headphone jack. I watched it because of the AppleTV. And there was nothing ground breaking either. I mean, if you want 4k Support, you can get a FireTV. And they are much cheaper than the AppleTV. By the way. Does anyone know, how having a phone call with the AppleWatch is supposed to wor`k? You wear it on your wrist, ok. But in my opinion, it is sort of uncofortable, having to lift your wrist up to your ear. And imagine, how that Looks...

2017-09-14 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : coltonhill01 via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Tips and tricks on using the command line.

have both cmd and bash tricks for you people.Windows trick:the cd command is limited to the current drive. Type the drive letter and a colon to switch to another drive, note that your current directory is drive specific! Which is sweet btw...In windows 10, you can now press control v to paste into cmd, although putty doesn't like this. Control c still sends it's char because it kinda has to!pushd and popd are useful, especially for working with UNC paths.Unix style paths work on windows, for example "cd /" changes to the root of your current drive, I always find myself using / instead of backslash, which makes some programs have a fit...if you use the dir command to list a directory and you don't like all the extra output, add a /b switch and it'll list it like ls, just the filenames and foldernames in it.if you wish to remove a directory, use rmdir, or rd. If the directory is not empty it will yell at you,
uot;rd /s" fixes that. Also del has a /s switch, which does recursive deletion, here's a practical example.cd %userprofile%\documents\sfxdel /s *.sfkdel /s *.sfldel /s *.reapeaksyou will get spammed with output, you could try using > nul, maybe? But it will delete all those stupid files audio editors generate.bash:A particular command I use if I wish to run a game server compiled for windows on linux, that doesn't terminate when I kill the ssh session, looks like this. Note that you need no additional packages except of course wine.nohup wine server.exe &the nohup makes it not receive a hang up signal, which will make it less likely to die when you close your ssh, and won't make it run in your console. The '&' on the end there is something strange that makes it run completely background, meaning you can log off and it'll keep going! To make it die, use pkill wine, or I believe pkill s
erver.exe also works.if you're making windows batch files, @echo off is a very common line to use, to make the command shell not log your commands but only the output.Another command used in batch files is "setlocal enableextensions" which makes all environment variable changes local so you can store temp stuff that stays temp, and enableextensions does something that I don't really know much about.A nice command in batch files if you wish to prompt the user for some input instead of making them specify it as an argument to the batch file, so they can press enter on it, is the following.set /p inp="enter some text here"rem just throw it back at themecho %inp%That could be used for a youtube-dl batch file... Hehe!Windows has three different copy commands for different things. Copy, xcopy and robocopy. Use their corresponding /? switches, and make sure you redirect to a file because the output of those comma
nds is several pages long and your cmd will flat wrap.If you wanna shut down your computer, and be cool and/or quick about it, use"shutdown.exe /s /t 00 /f"you could also use /r instead of /s to make it reboot. If you want to add a filetype, such as .py, .pl etc to your execution path so you can click on them from explorer and they will just run, once you've configured to open them with their interpreter obviously, open an admin command prompt and use this one.set pathext="%pathext%;.stuff"You'll have to log out and back in for that to work.I'm still struggling with the exact syntax for the ftype and assoc commands, but they're fun to use, because they're a quick and painless way to register a file extension to be opened by a program without the windows explorer dialog crap. I actually used it once to associate all the dependency files for rhythm rage levels with notepad, because you can have more
than one extension associated with the same type! You have to use multiple assoc commands though.Again for batch file people, who  don't use it and you want to run a program that does it's own thing from a batch file, use the start command so it doesn't hang up your batch file.the title command is useful btw, changes the title of your prompt so it can cram it's path up it's binary ass.if you are doing batch files and you want the user to press a key before something happens, pause. It freezes your batch file until they hit a key, prompting them with "press any key to continue..."And for people who are programming and want cmd to do something, cmd itself has two switches. /c and /k. /c executes a command and closes, /k executes a command and leaves it open, useful for examining output but unfortunately also reprompting the user with the do stuff prompt... Maybe try either using > to output stuff to a temp file or if i
t's possible grab it's stdout/stderr directly.Sorry for the spam, just thought of all that shit on the fly in bursts. Enjoy!

Re: youtube-MP3 is no more

I don't like you people who are downloading a youtube video as mp3. Because you're transcoding lossy to lossy, something that always! Breaks, especially when you encode to the most lossy format of all lossy formats. This is the command line I use to just grab youtube playlists, this is the command line I used to download this one entire channel and organize into playlists etc, and remove the video ID from the filename, also keeping in native audio stream.youtube-dl -x -o "%(uploader)s/%(playlist_name)s/%(title)s.%(ext)s" URLalso make sure you have ffmpeg and ffprobe, can be found here, in either the same directory as youtube-dl or in your path. I actually put youtube-dl in my path too, so yeah! And if you want to transcode, use --audio-format format after the -x, where most of the formats are their file types except ogg, which is called vorbis. That's because it's using the vorbis codec. The
majority of youtube video/audio streams I see are opus and aac, though I see quite a bit of vorbis too. Youtube does not use mp3, so transcoding to mp3 will be nothing but a loss of quality. If you want to do it, download everything formatted as wav and use lame.exe, setting it to something like 192KBPS vbr, that will give you awesome quality. For size, use 160/192KBPS vorbis. But don't encode the vorbis data to vorbis!

Re: Let's talk about apple and what they came out with yesterday.

@11, the reason they don't compare to apple products is because the OS itself is less performing, plus the wide variety of devices it's manufactured for and the lack of an absolute sandbox model makes it impossible to deal with performance as much as iOS does. I'm still pissed off to hell and back about the tones thing, because now that that's gone, I actually have no way to get any tones to my phone, since I'm 16 and parents wouldn't waste a cent on the iTunes store. Plus, I take actual songs I have, and make my own ringtones, which loop perfectly, get just the right amount of the song, and some of them aren't available on the store in the first place! And let's say somebody wants a super mario noise for their notification tone. Nobody, and I mean nobody, has a high quality version of that effect that would release it to something like that, because the only people that have the actual effect, are people who rip the roms and emulate them! I
want some super mario noise? No problem, just go to super mario 1, 2, vs.nsf, find the track I want, export it to wav, and do trimming and editing as I like. Straight from the chip!

Re: Jaws eloquence crash strings

Hi, @CAE_Jones the purpose of all these elements lists, as I see it is that you can for example open links list on a website with a lot of links and use first letter navigation to find the one you want. As I said I don't use them so there might be more use cases, but this is how I see most people using it. @Rory I've never used a mac and only tried browsing with IPhone, and while rotor is cool on there I don't know why would you need it on a PC. There is an NVDA addon that provides something similar and it's called OBJ pad. It was originally created to make object navigation easier, but when you press NVDA+ctrl+tab there is a Web mode. In there you press right and left arrows to navigate between elements, and up and down arrows to choose the tipe of element you want. Still as I said, much easier on a PC to just press h for heading, k for link and so on.

Re: Survive the Wild!

I came on here to make some observations about temperature, and found out about the mountain medallion! Climbing the mountain is a bit scary to me though, as I've only been playing since the weekend. Also, sitting in the water cools you down? Is that where I've been going wrong? I would always run to water when I got hot but moving around in it wasn't really helping. Not even ducking under the deeper water was cooling me off. Also, I feel that fanning yourself when you're over, say 40%wet should cool you down faster, since being wet makes any breeze feel cold. And snow doesn't work anywhere near as fast as the paper fan at the best of times. To be fair, though, sometimes I've gone from "slightly but not uncomfortably cold" to "nice warm breeze" while fanning myself. Maybe there should be an option to pour some of your stored water on your head to help cool you down? Also, I want deer in this game. Someone
suggested monkeys and lions but I don't think those are quite appropriate. Deer, now, would be like bigger rabbits and you could use deerskin to make things. Also, the freshwater places need some water birds. Swans, ducks and geese are edible and will also fight you so that adds challenge.
