I know that the point of this game is breeding and that it makes sense that we lost the monster when we do this, but I use to become fond of my monsters. I coul be good if we can have something like a gallery in our house where we can see the monsters that died or we used for fussion.I dont know if it is possible, but I personally enjoy a lot seeing the battles. maybe we could record them and save them? in an optional way, of course. Something like the manamon battle recorder.Also a competition that convine the battle moves with the contest where you can use the moves to give a show, like the pokemon contest of the 3 generation. Just as reading the Bible turns many people away from religion while watching others cling desperately to it, this literature is the same way. It may not be as long, and it might be a bit more straightforward, but a lot of what's in it never sat right with me. I've heard that when people go to the NFB training centers, they're required to read Walking Alone And Marching Together. I don't know what happens if you don't, of course, but that's actually worse than going to church and being expected to read the Bible. Like, if it's an actual requirement for graduating from the centers that you read that book, that's seriously not cool. At least no one's going to throw you out of your congregation or punish you in any meaningful way if you don't read the scripture. I've always been taught to use a cane that comes up to around the collarbone and I can't imagine using anything longer. I can't imagine a situation where that would be an advantage no matter where you're going.Also, what's the logic behind banning folding canes? Where are you supposed to put the thing. If you're in a car, are you supposed to just leave it awkwardly lying across the entire car where it'd be annoying for everyone else? With sleep shades, I get the logic, I just think it's dumb to expect people with stable vision to do it. It doesn't matter if 15 people have different levels of sight, you just work assuming the lowest level, and if people with more sight develop their own ways of doing the same task on top of what you're teaching them, then why are you discouraging them. I'm not a fan of dogma of any kind, and would prefer that people back themselves up with logic and results and all the rest, wherever possible.That said, just because you insist on a few specific techniques, that alone doesn't mean you're guilty of dogma, or that you're a bad person/a bad organization. Now, if this was the only thing being suggested, ever, for anyone? Then yeah, okay, that's not great. I don't like the "one true religion" vibe that gives. But I think if it is floated as a viable option, but not the -only viable option, I think that is definitely important.Most people I know who have either been associated with NFB or have gone to a center are very open to other ways of doing things. They can acknowledge the strengths and the weaknesses of the training centers, structured discovery, sleep shades, the whole lot. They'll be quick to tell you that they hated their sleep shades for the first week and a half, then got used to them when they realized that not being able to use their eyes meant they were paying more attention to the specific things they were being taught. They'll be equally quick to tell you that there are diehards in every organization, people who are NFB for the sake of NFB and not much else below the surface. I don't think that represents the whole of the program or the organization, though, just as the really obnoxious SJWs don't necessarily represent the majority of feminism and the like. A person who is newly blind, or losing their vision, is in an extremely vulnerable position, just as, let's say, a homeless alcoholic who has hit rock bottom who happens to stumble into a church one day and hears a sermon that really resonates with him is in a vulnerable position. yes, if that man cleans up his act, and if the blind person has a better quality of life as a result of going to that training center, that can be counted as a victory. But dogmatism has its dark side, and the NFB engages in it just as much as any backwoods preacher. I don't think it's OK to train people to believe that there is only one path to walk if you want to be remembered as a good person. If you have a class of fifteen people, and they're all at different vision levels, and they all have varying ability to use that vision, then that means you have to cater to fifteen individual cases, where you may not be able to meet the specific needs of everyone.If you put sleep shades on everyone with usable vision, however, you're levelling them off to the same denominator, so to speak. It's not punishment. They are specifically trying to teach you how to use your sense of touch and hearing and whatever else. The things they teach do not need vision, and can be counted on if and when your vision goes away. It might be upsetting, especially at first, but the idea here is to get the most amount of progress, and on that level I think, it probably works more than it doesn't.To analogize again, let's say that at your college, which you signed up to willingly, you quickly realized that some classes allowed for open-book multiple-choice exams, while other classes demanded that you study and have no aids at all. What you're doing, in my estimation at least, is getting upset that the NFB training centers are telling you that you can't bring in outside aids. Nobody can. I'll grant you that, if someone is seeking out a training center, that person is most likely suffering ill effects caused by vision loss, but that doesn't have to be the case. A person could have low vision all their life, and have a stable diagnosis, but be interested in becoming more efficient with the use of a cane or Braille or what have you. If their vision is unlikely to change, then I feel that using the blindfold is a form of punishment. At the center I went to, no one was required to wear them. However, there was a student there who had a fairly high level of vision, but it was deteriorating. It was clear that she didn't want to be there, so she would do things like sneak peeks at the Braille alphabet when she was supposed to be learning to read with her fingers when she thought the teacher wasn't looking, then cheer loudly and dramatically about how smart she was and how fast she was learning. The teacher, who was no fool, and who wasn't somebody you wanted to cross, made her put a blindfold on after that. So yeah, it was definitely a punishment, and a well-deserved one, because that woman was in her 40's and acted more juvenile than my 5-year-old niece, so watching her get taken down a few notches was extremely satisfying. The point is, if you reserve things like that for fringe cases, then I can see how they can be useful, but forcing everyone to wear them or no training for you? That's not right at all. The reason there aren't a lot of really awful reviews...maybe that's because there aren't a lot of really awful experiences? I don't honestly know, it's a thought. I agree with you, however, that info is scanty and should be more easily available. I won't speculate as to why that is, but I like unbiased information, and it's one among many reasons that I didn't pursue this.2. Sleep shades. Actually, the reason they call them sleep shades is because this is exactly what they are. Some people who have trouble sleeping during the day, or where there is a surfeit of natural light, wear these in order to block out light, thus the name. Functionally they're blindfolds, yes. And do you know why they use them? It's because a lot of people who have some vision, however slight it is, are using it, or misusing it. And a lot of those people do not have stable vision; it will desert them one day (maybe in a year, maybe twenty). There is no sense trying to teach students how to get around when half of them might be trying to eek out their own way using the vision they've got, especially if that vision is something they can't one day rely on. The sleep shades are for anyone with any usable vision, to put everyone on the same footing. Now, I'm not saying I agree with this 100% - I don't, actually - but this is their rationale, and I can at least -sort of understand it. Some people have stable low vision, and I feel they should be encouraged to use what they have; this might be harder to accomplish, however, vs. teaching a whole pile of people who are essentially learning a given skillset all the same way.3. I actually have far more issue with the long cane than I do with the sleep shades. I have a right to walk as slowly or as quickly as I want to, safety first of course. If my slightly shorter cane means my stride length is shorter, but I still get everywhere I'm going on time, who is anyone to take that from me? A long cane just feels like it would undo like twenty-odd years of training with a standard cane...and this, again, is another reason why I wouldn't attend a center. I would feel doubly bad about this if I had a guide dog. But again, these are things people can and do look up and know ahead of time. The big things (sleep shades, long cane, guide dog unavailability)...well, if you don't know those facts goin in, you didn't do your homework. In regards to structured discovery, the reason it outrages me as much as it does is that, while it's true that no one is ever forced to go to a training center, they are beneficial for a lot of folks. I have written many posts of significant length throughout my time on this forum which go into more detail about all of my issues with the scarcity of solid information about training centers. I can find and link to some of those posts if you like, but the gist of what I've been saying for more than 10 years is that, in most cases, there just is not a lot of information to be had before someone enrolls in one of these places. A lot of times, it's just testimonials on the website and a brief overview of what the training will entail, but very little, if anything, on methodology/balanced experiences, i.e. folks who didn't have a good experience, or just middle of the road accounts. It may be true that structured discovery works for many people. I don't know why or how, but it clearly does, so that's fine. What is not fine is how, in the 21st century, there is literally almost nothing on the internet about the way these places work from an insider's perspective. You can find blind people who are more than willing to discuss their pornographic use/odd fetishes with anybody who will listen, but you can't find a single one who can give a thoughtful, balanced account of their time at a training center without sounding like they're quoting a brochure. Actually, I take that back, I know of one who is on this forum, but the point is, if former students won't talk, and the websites themselves are of little help, your sushi analogy falls flat, I'm afraid. You can't give informed consent to participate in such a program with such little information. No one would dream of going to a college without taking a tour of the campus, talking to students and staff, browsing the site for information, and generally learning all they could, right? Since these centers are, for all intents and purposes, educational institutions, the same amount of exploration should be necessary. Except, of course, that it just isn't possible to get that level of familiarity with a training center the same way you might with a college.I'll close by linking to one post in particular in which I talk about this a lot more, and how I wish things were different. If anyone else wants to jump in, do so.1. After you have entered your login details and press CTRL+S to login, the client tells you to wait a few minutes for the configuration to finish. You get no indication you have to wait and try in a while. Would be nice if the client could inform you that it has finished the setup and you can now press CTRL+S to login.2. I and I think others, would like to know more what's happening in the game.For example, it says two folded before you. However, since I only got my LLB last year, and my LPC this year (the lpc is the thing that lets you be a solicitor in the UK), no company has entered me onto a database since my contract doesn't start until September. The only way I could give any proof of my qualifications is to send a scanned copy of the physical certificate, which I wouldn't be comfortable doing with all of the PII present on that page. Moving to America is something I see in my near future (blind guy moves across the atlantic without family, this will be fun!) so that's why I have such an interest in American law. Announcing Expanding Known Space from Valiant Galaxy Associates Valiant Galaxy Associates is proud to announce the release of Expanding Known Space, the third title in our flagship line of science fiction games. The year is 2850 and the freedom-loving frontier planets of the interstellar Union are about to launch a pre-emptive strike against the encroachments of the authoritarian Solarian Federation. The First Interstellar Wars are beginning, and it is up to you to win the war quickly and with as little loss of life as possible. Expanding Known Space is self-voicing and uses recorded human speech. The game, like many of our other titles, features both map and menu modes. The map is 20 by 20 and features 40 planets and 40 static hazards. The map is different for each game. Over 50 hot keys have been added to aid in navigation and information gathering. However, most players use about a dozen regularly. The game features five difficulty modes, four victory conditions which can be customized, five AI modes, and allows for manual or automatic selection of the player’s initial planets. Besides these options, nine missions have been included which change starting conditions or victory conditions during the game. Re: What is wrong with the NFB? I do not like the NFB. I went to an NFB camp when I was 7 and the most excited thing we did was go to some cabin for an overnight trip. It not being an actual camp aside here's what was wrong with it. First day getting breakfast they wouldn't let my mom pour the milk for me. I said I was going to spill if I did it because this was something I was still working on at home. "Well then we'll clean it up." I was told. So I spill and I have to clean up. There was no we as I was told. So first day impression of me to other campers goes down the drain. I'm starving and wet. No direction on how to pour the milk properly either. If my mom didn't pour it for me after I'd probably wouldn't have had breakfast or just kept making messes I had to clean up. I went out 1 on 1 for mobility and the guy was blind. If you have good skills and you're out with a blind friend who's showing you things that's different. When you’re 7 and probably more likely to walk into traffic not a good idea! The mobility teacher should be able to see. So for some reason this guy thought it was a good idea to walk backwards in front of me. Why? So he could talk to me. He did not use his cane in a bad ark behind him instead he used his cane in front of him claiming he'd feel the curb with his heels. I was worried until we got back to the NFB center. Oh they also had me use 1 of those danger hazard canes that would break in 10 seconds if bent the wrong way. Funny enough that cane did end up snapping in half and my school got me a lovely folding cane. Worst camp ever. The NFB thinks that is their way or nothing and that's not right. Sure they get laws and stuff but the way they go about it is bull shit. There was an article about these NFB people complaining because a McDonald’s new touch screen system didn't work. It was the first of their kind I don't know why they thought it be blind friendly right away. Things rarely are. They could of asked for help but that would of went against their we're not disabled belief and even when the employers helped them they were ungrateful. I'm not saying the NFB hasn't done good things but their approach is shit. I remember the NFB wanted to remove the bricks at the end of train platforms because other countries didn’t have them. Great idea! Let’s get rid of the ones where there are no curbs to and kill off all the blind people! Its shit like that that makes me think WTF NFB…Now as for blind people owning guns they shouldn't. I don't think anyone should own a gun but people do. If you'll blind and wanna blow your head off who am I to stop you? Blind people probably shouldn’t sit near an airplane exit but I’d bet if it’s Smokey and no one else can see either they’d probably be best for the job then. A good thing that I learned is typing this into your command line or power shell. python script.py>output.txt This will capture any text your program outputs into a file called output.txt which will be located in the directory of your script. This is good because some tracebacks are silent, and you need to know how to review the screen to see them. That command eliminates the need.
