Re: Sequence Storm Rhythm Racing Game

@602That's probably the wall. The edges of the track make humming sort of noises, or at least they should. The track is very narrow though and difficult to stay in the center, so there is a steer assist feature in access settings but it doesn't work very well. This was probably intentional so people couldn't just turn on steer assist and make the steering mechanic irrelevant. The barriers make a flangey weird sound and you have to steer around them. The barrier is smart and will always hit you if you don't actively try to avoid it so there's no getting lucky. Just steer away from it. Don't worry if you brush a wall, at least you didn't lose half your health.Hyperdrift and boosting are very different. Boosting removes the notes from the track and is faster, but it disables automatic steering, and steering around corners slows you a lot especially if you hit the wall. Hyperdrift does not remove the notes, but each hit note speeds you up and heals you a decent amount. Hyperdrift also removes all speed loss while going around corners. The logical thing, then, would be to boost on a straight-away or when there are a lot of hard notes coming up, and hyperdrift when your health is low or you're on a twisty part of a track.

I agree. So far this kid hasn't shown any signs of changing his ways, and whenever he's on here it's usually to cause trouble. I mean, clearly he doesn't like to work for things. He not only ruins pretty much any social gathering he's a part of, but he also says he's proud of it. Oh yeah, and let's not forget his support for games with stolen source code, as evidenced by not only the topic I linked above, but his signature as well. I just linked to 3 different topics where he's being a nuisance, and that's only the topics he's made. That's not even counting his posts, and the topics I may have missed. Wouldn't this be grounds for the community failure clause? Why do we still let him browse this forum, despite the trouble he's caused?

Re: Sale on VGStorm Titles!

My point is, whether you have a sound test within the game that gets unlocked, but is still accessed via menus in the game, vs. someone listening to the tracks simply as they come up, the recording would be basically the same either way. I am not suggesting that an external sound track would make sense. I'm essentially talking about a repository within the game, accessed through the game, to access music. The game is already providing music in such a way that the player can trigger most of it voluntarily, so I'm still not sure what the issue is.Either it's not a problem, and a music-test dealy would be no issue within the game, or it's already a problem, and the game should pause its music while paused to make recording tracks much, much harder. That still wouldn't solve the issue, as there are still dozens of tracks that could be recorded with no background noise, but it works toward reasonable effort.

Re: Sale on VGStorm Titles!

I think the general consensus established by most reasonably/respectable providers is that no one and nothing can expect to prevent the analog hole from being taken advantage of. Typically it's a matter of if content becomes available through no fault of your own then so be it, and while they could probably go after the person who exploits/uses the content if they made it big, they wouldn't o after VG Storm for getting one of their tracks recorded, especially since the sounds are all encrypted so attempts were at least made to thwart copying of the music. Do they work? WEll not all the time, but then again when has it ever. There are screen-recorders that apparently record individual audio chanels (I didn't found this out in an attempt to dub content, but if you've ever had a screen recording split up into parts that's probably why. How it taps into the advanced audio handling without a custom driver is another matter altogether though.

If what you're threatening is just plain jerkish and not illegal, and the action itself is going to be off the forum, there's only so much we can and will do, but we wanted to take a fairly firm stance on this after the Christian gloating debacle.

Re: Scriptable smart locks?

I'm using openHAB2 on a Raspi 4 right now, works great. openHAB allows you to combine several smart home systems of different brands together and combine rules for them, e.g. I do have a weather station from one brand running and am controlling my smart thermostats by the weather information given by it, although they are not designed to work together. You can write scripts in Java (Python support is in the works though), and its pretty strong in doing so. I'm using Zwave as well for most of the things, or local wi-fi-based devices like the ones from Shelly and am trying to not use cloud-based solutions where possible, but thanks to such systems you are almost free to choose whatever brand you feel most comfortable with. Just make sure your Pi can get access to it by connecting it to your local network, or plug a Zwave controller in, get a ZigBee device or some 3rd party hub like Philips Hue to control your ZigBee network and thats just the basics of it. Right now I do have smart plugs here to control my devices and save power consumption, smart thermostats for my rooms, a weather station, smart lights (to make sure that my lights turn off automatically if i'm at home alone and when I go to bed, but my sighted girlfriend can still use them when she is at home or visitors want to see something). You can also detect PCs in your network via network bindings to create rules based on their state (Online or offline), get access to iCloud (if you got an iPhone) to detect your presence at home and way, way more. openHAB itself is for free, only the Raspi will cost some money, but its not that much. The smart home accessories however are a different problem, they are usually quite expensive. Shelly is one exception though, but my smart thermostats cost about $80 each, which can get quite expensive if you want to equip a few rooms with it.

I totally get why an external sound track can't be provided, but apart from code, what reason is there for not being able to listen to certain tracks at will within the game once they've been unlocked? One would have to carefully review the terms of use for Audio Network and other royalty free music suppliers to determine whether or not this falls under acceptable use. I doubt it does for any of them. Most of the music in the game can be triggered easily enough. Worst case scenario is that you need to have a few save files at different points.

Re: can I have a crazy party save?

It's especially harder on laptop keyboards, which are becoming less and less robust as time goes by, unless you've got really good kit. most of us don't. To put this in perspective, my current laptop has gone in for two separate keyboard replacements, and if I'd kept using it, we'd have had two or three more by now. But when the up and down arrows broke again, after less than two months of everyday use, I decided to hell with it, and now I use an external. I know that my experience is not the norm, but I really don't want to play -any games that really make you hammer a lot of keys in a short amount of time anymore. CP isn't brutal for this sometimes, but there are dozens of games that require a lot more key-presses than you might otherwise be bothering with.People are free to not share their saves, obviously. And see, I'd agree with the sentiment if CP had a story, or if exploration was an honest-to-goodness thing. But it's really kind of not. To me at least, unlocking games feels like busywork, and I hate having to play games I dislike just to get to games that I end up liking. Sometimes that can be cool, but oftentimes (and in this game in particular for me) it's not.

That fanfare three-minute interlude thing pisses me off every time I see it. Nice music, annoying as hell cutscene. Like I'm on Ogma's tail. I don't want to stop and smell the roses. it murders all the dramatic tension the prior scene built. Also? Uh, there's a really easy way to record tracks...well, not really easy, but it's doable. Music still plays when the game is paused. No ambiance, no distracting background noises, no key presses. Music can also be recorded during cutscenes if you're patient. Just wait for a song to end, start recording before it loops, and don't hit any button that'd make the cutscene continue. There are a couple of tracks (that fanfare, for instance) where this absolutely would -not work. But for like 98% of the tracks in the game, if Aaron isn't supposed to provide a way to record the tracks without background noise, he's already badly broken that part of the warranty or contract.

Here I was thinking that the music was custom cooked anyway, but then again royalty music with words does exist (I'm not talking an ambient choir, but actual words), so anything's possible.@Jayde:The reason why AAC had this and none of his other games do is because all the music of that game were creative commons, and although they aren't as easily obtainable due to the 8bit collective site going down, there is a best of collection that I pulled down years ago. Were someone to dub those tracks, that would actually be completely and totally fine, because cc allows for distribution in whichever way possible. I don't know if 8bit collective's stuff is under a commercial license or non-commercial share-alike, but either one would technically allow someone to download, dub or otherwise obtain the content in whichever way they please, as long as both parties credit the original material should they end up reusing it.In a game like Manamon 2 for example, Aaron could not legally provide a way for someone to straight-up play/capture the music in its original, unmodified form. Now, there are areas in the game with no ambiance and just music, and people could just as easily dub those. But it's not easy. It isn't like they can hit a play button after hitting record, and without a direct way to play the content it's generally expected that people aren't actualy going to be thinking about capturing the music during gameplay. This is true for if the license for the content says that the content needs to be distributed within a definitive work. Once there is a direct way to listen to the music in its unmodified form, you have voided that clause of the license. The thing that would make 0 sense to me would of course be if a license of stock, off-the-shelf media stated that the identity of the track needs to be kept under wraps. After all, if people ask where it came from, chances are they want to buy it and use it, which means more exposure for the creator. But if it's custom cooked/special arrangement then that I could understand, since it's obviously meant for that game and that game only. Aaron could definitely sell the Requiem theme as a single if he wanted to, but that would be totally up to him. Speaking of which, I actually think that song would have had better placement if it were to play after you destroyed Requia/before you land back in Mersilla's house. It is, after all, about Requiem, and it would make sense for it to be placed there. By that same token, the fanfare track itself is really good, and if it was custom-cooked then props to whoever made it. However if he meant it to be unskippable, there could have been a monologue of timed speech events from your character as it plays. The way I see it, you're fleeing after a guy in a super-computer, but your character must have been taken aback by all the overly perfect scenery, thus stopping to take everything in save for a drawn out interlude. So if your character actually does stop to take everything in, it would make sense to hear what your character is thinking, otherwise the interlude makes 0 sense from a storyline point of view.

Re: Sale on VGStorm Titles!

2020-01-21 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : jack via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Sale on VGStorm Titles!

@Trajectory: Makes sense. I thought I remembered you saying you didn't know what the track was as well, either way if the license doesn't allow a reveal then that's that.

Re: can I have a crazy party save?

I couldn't agree more. While I probably have been a bit harsher than I should be at times when it comes to people asking for saves, with Crazy Party in particular, I can't help but have the same reaction. It doesn't make sense to me how someone wouldn't want to experience all that the game has to offer. If you don't care enough to develop your own strategies, or feel compelled to play the games in order to get good at them, then, frankly, why the hell are you playing? For me, personally, getting someone else's save would ruin the game entirely for me. I will take what some others have said into account, though, and try not to be so hard on those who ask for saves in the future, though I do strongly disagree with it, and most likely always will. Also, I agree that CP is no more or less harmful to keyboards than some of the older audio game titles. I would not see handing someone my save file as saving the keyboards, if you will. To me, that concept is silly, and I make no apologies for my stance.

Re: Sale on VGStorm Titles!

I confess, I draw the line at RL cash. The game already costs forty dollars American and has too many issues to even justify that price tag. Aaron asking for even more money would, in my own view at least, crush what remains of his reputation with me. This is, in point of fact, why I respect the move to cut prices on some of his older games. I think this needed to happen for awhile now, so I'm glad that time has come.

That's why I don't understand why in-game music-test sort of things can't exist. If a person wants to, they can already record this stuff with no background ambiance easily enough. I totally get why an external sound track can't be provided, but apart from code, what reason is there for not being able to listen to certain tracks at will within the game once they've been unlocked?

Re: Scriptable smart locks?

@3 I hardily recommend the Home Assistant/Hass.io combo. Aside from some overheating issues caused by me overloading my Pi, and aside from standard HA configuration updates that you're dealing with regardless, it's been a mostly fire-and-forget setup. A Hass.io addon even nailed Wireguard configuration, which I somehow managed to screw up when I tried by hand. Now I have always-on Wireguard VPNing into my home network, using Pihole for DNS/ad-blocking, and always in reach of my HA setup for monitoring/location-tracking.Not sure I'd formulate an ML model for thermostat management unless you just have way too much time on your hands. AppDaemon makes it pretty easy to perform time-based automations once you get its event and callback model. There's a callback for sunrise and sunset events, which adjust for altitude/location/time-of-year. It's also trivial to offset an event from a callback, so I can run code 45 minutes before sunset or 10 minutes after I leave home. Right now I've coded my thermostat to run my home cooler at night in the summer, on the theory that I enjoy a cooler apartment during the summer and it's cheaper to do that at night. Should be pretty easy to read research about how temperature affects sleep patterns, code that up in a script, then git push your way to better sleep.

@2, good points. I've read up on HA but haven't heard about ZWave or AppDaemon. When I move into my own home that'll definitely be something I'll look into. I've always thought of a nice thermostat that adjusts the temperature of (say) a garage based on outdoor temperature while simultaneously adjusting indoor temperature (bedrooms and such) automatically based on the time of day; i.e.: you tell it your "sleepig schedule" that you'd like to maintain and it figures out a good temperature to set at night for ensuring you have the best sleeping cycle possible. As the night draws to a close it could begin adjusting the temperature to slowly bring you to wakefulness. I'm not sure if Ishould get ML/AI involved in that or not or rely on more "traditional" methods.

Re: can I have a crazy party save?

Thing is, keyboards are created to be used. You don't need to hammer the keys in CP minigames, only to press them fast, which should not be harmful in any way. Again, my theory is not proven either, and it is totally possible that people did break their keyboards while playing games, however that never happened to me and I am just sharing my experience. I understand people who don't want to do it though, it does not even have to be for this reason, there are people  who simply have difficulties pressing keys fast.

Re: Malazan book of the fallen impresions

Robert Jordan levels of insanity doesn't mean much. I have read Wheel of Time five or six times now. I'm not a straight-up expert by any means, but generally I had no trouble keeping the plot and the characters straight. If you like your fantasy lean and mean, Jordan and Ericson won't be good. If you like it sprawling and complicated and messy and layered, both of these authors do a good job at that. Sanderson, too, for that matter.

Oh yeah, good point Jayde. Adventure at C had this. I suppose Aaron realizes it makes it super easy for people to just record tracks though, so that's probably why he abandoned it. Otherwise a lot of the code is probably there and it would not be terribly hard to implement in other games.

If I did it would still not be my place to reveal it, but I'm being honest when I say I have no idea.If I had to guess, I would say it probably came from Audio Network, as a large amount of Manamon music did. Legally it could not be redistributed.Again I'm speaking in an unofficial capacity, but if a soundtrack ever did come out it could only include the custom tracks.AHC has a totally original soundtrack, hence why it can be sold as such. The downside of that is that there are significantly fewer tracks due to the higher cost involved in producing them.

Far be it from me to question your moderation skills, but you're warning me about a message I made in a completely different topic and siting a rule which doesn't pertain to the website or subject. Mailbait is a perfectly valid service for testing the viability of email filters, and the site clearly states that your IP and info will be included in all generated materials. Nor is mailbait involved in the distribution of any illegal material -- it only distributes emails which, if I recall, are still legal. No torrents or downloads are advertised on the site. The rule you're quoting prohibits the sharing and distribution of illegal content, torrents, downloads, etc, none of which I've participated in. I'll accept the warning, but I'd like to see a more accurate rule to the situation.Kai

I like Manamon 2 over Manamon 1 for sound tracks, but I've found tracks in Paladin and both Manamon games that I really quite like, and wish I could just play for fun sometime. My favourite of all time is the scene with two deaths in Manamon 2 (not trying to spoil here). It's slow, it's in E Major, it's got a violin and a piano and I think maybe a harp or something, and it's just heartbreaking. I really, really want to know what this song is called. It is a pity there is no way to have an in-game music-test unlock somehow, vs. an external OST purchase. I'd pay gold (like 100-200k) to unlock music in the game (overall, not that much per track, lol).

Re: can I have a crazy party save?

I used to use the keyboards built into the laptops I had. Replacing those is a pain in the ass. My current keyboard is a cheapo USB model that's still going pretty strong after nearly a year and a half of heavy use, and I'm happy with it. Still don't feel like pounding it to death playing minigames. For me, if I ever ask for a CP save, it's because I want to experience the game for fun but don't really care about going all hardcore and stuff. These games, for me, are not precisely what I'm after, so while I'd like to mess around with them, I don't want to put in hours of frustration and keyboard punishment just to muddle around. If someone wanted to let me have a save, cool. If not, I'm not too bothered. At this point, I'm pretty sure Christian's reputation is trashed, so I am hoping, for the time being at least, that people do not help him. It will just encourage him to keep doing what he's doing.

No clue where this idea comes from that CP games destroy keyboards. I have heard people say it, and you really need to have a low quality keyboard for that to happen. I think this is just an impression, not  a proven fact or anything. I have played CP on the exact same keyboard actively ever since it was released, and it is not any gaming keyboard or anything, an internal laptop keyboard. Regarding saves though, please Google something like GTA 5 save and you will find it in 30 seconds. No need to say please, to explain your reasons or to justify your actions in 10 pages. I have no idea why is this not normal in the audio gaming community, at least on here. It is not illegal, it is not stealing and should not concern you at all. If someone wants to cheat, they do not need a save file to do that. Whether they have one or not does not make them any less or more likely to cheat. There was this time during which I could not complete AAC no matter what. I found a save file and used it just because I was curious how does it look like when a game is complete. Later on I beat the game myself of course, but that's one way of looking at it.

Re: Scriptable smart locks?

2020-01-21 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : nolan via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Scriptable smart locks?

Having been a software engineer for a couple decades, I'm skeptical of *my own* ability to design a smart lock. You've focused lots on security, which is admirable. What about reliability? How will you communicate with your lock? If wifi, how will that communication work when your power dies? Speaking of power, how will you power it? Direct to mains is going to require some beefy surge protection. Battery, and you'll need some low-voltage detection and alerting. I'm sure my terminology isn't spot on, precisely because this is such a multi-dimensional problem. Essentially, you've got a torrent of power directed at a very small problem (unlocking a door.) You're going to need some pretty strong resistance, which probably means heat and a heatsink, or some sort of battery system. Speaking of battery systems, how much power will your system use? Sighted folks can use benchtop power sources that can measure the load of a circuit, which you can then use to calculate how big of a battery bank to plan for. If you have some way of accessibly using one of these, please do let me know--I've had a doorbell circuit sitting on my desk for about a year now that I'd love to spec out a battery bank for, or even program intelligently to take power draw into account. Then, how are your hardware design skills? Will you build the lock from scratch, or engineer some sort of gripper system to turn a deadbolt? If the former, prepare to learn about lockpicking. I have a neighbor whose skills we regularly rely on to break into people's apartments when they're locked out, so I'm under no delusions that my non-smart lock is terribly secure, but I also know not to design my own. If the latter, how will you guarantee that your system will stay in place? Will it survive a few hard pounds on the door without falling off and locking you out? What about temperature changes? If held up with some sort of adhesive, can you guarantee that said adhesive will remain in place through 20 or so degrees of temperature variance, and remain fixed enough that you can count on the system being positioned precisely enough to thro the deadbolt? And that's just me spending a few minutes poking holes in the idea not because I like shitting on creativity. But you're right--locks should be secure, both from tampering and damage by wear and tear. Please don't put yourself at personal risk by hacking together a smart lock, unless it's for an interior door that doesn't need to remain terribly secure.Having said that, you *do* have options. Have you looked into Home Assistant? It's a little automation server that runs on systems as small as Raspberry Pis. Has bunches and bunches of hardware integrations. I booted up a Vizio soundbar on my network last week thinking nothing of it, and it popped up as being controllable via HA. You can build your own IoT devices if you like using systems like ESPHome, and there may even be a smart lock guide in there somewhere. Automation and scripting is unfortunately YAML-based, but a secondary project called AppDaemon lets you write automations and scripts in Python. I can literally git push program changes to my thermostat with this setup. With a Home Assistant/AppDaemon setup, I'd recommend solving your smart lock problem with the Z-Wave platform. Z-Wave is a separate network. It meshes smart appliances so they don't all need to be in range of your router. I haven't looked extensively into its security, but since it is designed specifically for home automation, I have more faith in it than I do . Z-Wave locks are programmable with a series of unlock codes. It looks like HA lets you set and delete codes in individual slots. If I understand the integration correctly, you could write a Python script to permanently assign codes to slots 1-3, put a random daily-rotating code in slot 4, have a single-use random daily rotating code in slot 5 for mail deliverys and such, etc. Get as creative as you like. Your lock isn't communicating with the cloud or other such nonsense, just with the Pi in your living room. Granted, that Pi has to stay up, or you'll need a backup key, but that's true of any technology.I've actually been thinking of setting this up myself. I'm paranoid about forgetting to lock my door, but HA plus its Android app could fairly easily lock the door once I'm 50 or so meters away if I've forgotten to do it. It already adjusts my thermostat and turns off some appliances for me, so tossing together another AppDaemon script would be fairly easy. And Z-Wave locks aren't terribly expensive, either.

Re: can I have a crazy party save?

Coming in a bit late here, but I figured I'd chime in. And while I read the mess that went on today concerning Liam's stream, I'm leaving that completely out of my thoughts in this post.First and foremost, I'm not exactly sure why the op wants a CP save, and I'm not about to pretend I know him or his motives. I'm only speculating. It's certainly possible that he doesn't want to wreck his keyboard, finds many games too difficult, or doesn't want to do hard grinding again. I personally believe though that it's just a case of wanting it for the sake of having it. I'll mention that later, but will entertain the earlier mentioned points first, especially now that a minigames tournament is upcoming.I'll admit CP is hard on keyboards. I grew up with key mashing games though so perhaps that's why I don't have a problem with that. I've become better in recent years at turning key mashing into relaxed key presses which I can retain without as much fatigue. I've had to, after hurting my wrists when I was a kid by playing too much troopanum and Blast Chamber. Those were the good old days hahaha. I don't quite understand how someone could wreck a keyboard playing CP though, to the point of justifying handing out a save to keep a new keyboard from being wrecked. Trust me, about half the key mashing games aren't that bad.As an example, the games where you have to tap the four arrows in sequence can be much more of a breeze if you reposition yourself physically at the keyboard. For me, what works is left hand index finger on up arrow, then in the right hand, ring finger on right arrow, middle on down arrow and index on left arrow. Then lightly but quickly press up with left hand, then roll your right hand fingers to go rightdownleft, like a horse gallop. And just do that over and over, alternating between left hand on up, and right hand on the rightdownleft motion. Iirc there's another game where the sequence is up down right left or something like that, which is harder, but the jist is to just find a pattern you can do quickly and without any fatigue/pain. Of course there are those games which require you to hit a single key quickly, but using enter instead of f helps considerably in those situations, and while it's not exactly comfortable, I can cope if I hit enter with both hands. Sure, key mashing might not be for everyone in principal, and some people just aren't good at it, so I'm not trying to say it's this cool underrated mechanic or anything. I just think it gets a bad wrap because a lot of people focus on mashing more than safety and comfort. They can coexist.I also will admit that CP has brutally difficult games which rely on accurate volume/pan/pitch separation. For someone with autism, the intellectual world can be a freeking nightmare. For the numerically challenged, the math games are equally so. ?For those who aren't pitch conscious, colored flowers, making a key, musical doors etc. may be a struggle. For those with hearing loss, everything is up in the air. If an intellectual game comes up, I'm among the lowest three places in score most of the time, and those who score lower than me in the intellectual games are often poor players in general, so I feel a little stupid to be among those. But if a math game comes up, I'm the last surviving which makes me kind of uncomfortable, , and with musical flowers especially, I am always winning competition unless I get distracted. I've been accused of cheating at these types of games more than once, though I do know people better than me, so that gives me comfort. CP is just riddled with things people can and cannot do, and it's unfortunately easy to cheat in a fair number of the games. But if you like to be pushed in many different directions, CP is great, though not without balancing flaws.I can see if someone wanted an unlocked save just to experience everything; I have a friend who can't do any of the action games because he simply doesn't have the reflexes to cope with them, but I'd love to show him the games in the play room world since he just might enjoy those. I'd send him my save for that purpose if he asked for it. I also can totally see the point of sending a save to someone who lost their old save which had months worth of hard work put into it. I have absolutely no experience with battle mode, but I'll take yall's word for it that getting cards is a bitch, and I know how it feels to loose hard work after losing saves in BK2 and BK3 multiple times and just flat out asking a friend of mine for a completely unlocked save which he made.I have a feeling, though, that this thread was not made for the purpose of discussing whether CP is hard enough to justify handing a save over to people who ask. Rather it is to post with an unrestrained display of a complete lack of effort.christian wrote:I know this has been posted plenty of times, but can I have a cp save file with everything or almost everything unlocked? and

Re: can I have a crazy party save?

Coming in a bit late here, but I figured I'd chime in. And while I read the mess that went on today concerning Liam's stream, I'm leaving that completely out of my thoughts in this post.First and foremost, I'm not exactly sure why the op wants a CP save, and I'm not trying to incuicate anything in this post. I'm only speculating. It's certainly possible that he doesn't want to wreck his keyboard, finds many games too difficult, or doesn't want to do hard grinding again. I personally believe though that it's just a case of wanting it for the sake of having it. I'll mention that later, but will entertain the earlier mentioned points first since they're good to discuss, especially now that a minigames tournament is coming upcoming.I'll admit CP is hard on keyboards. And just do that over and over, alternatingt between left hand on up, and right hand on the rightdownleft motion. I didn't actually do it. hell I wasn't even around for about 57.222343222 percent of the stream anyways. so anyways, when I got back from doing what I was doing, I tuned in just to here them talking about the racial names, when liam wanted to try to do another minny game party, I was about to do just set my name as fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck and just play online with them. but before I could do it, he had already shut down the server. I was actually talking to a friend on skype about this stuff, when I just had the bright idea to just say I did it on here, and my reasoning? well, it's pretty simple, noone cares about what I have to say, and my reputation is already fucked up so why not? and that's how the topic was created, so long story short, it was just another attention grabbers.

Re: Sale on VGStorm Titles!

@AnIdiot: Aaron can speak for himself on whether he wants to sell the soundtrack or not. However, I will say that Creative Common music is already linked to in the manual, so even if there were a soundtrack release, the creative commons licensed music would not even need to be included in the first place.A Manamon 2 soundtrack would be bad-ass, but but that would be up to the creators of the music tracks whether or not he'd be allowed to sell the music (this game did have a pretty prolific music team for this game). That song from the Barren Byron fight would be great to have. Seriously, Aaron must know a Slipknot impersonator. Lol!Considering that Jordan (@Trajectory) was hesitant to reveal what the name of the song was, I don't suppose a soundtrack would be as easy as Aaron deciding, hey, let's compile this music and throw it on Bandcamp/Distrokid. And before everyone goes, well A H C had a soundtrack... Yeah. Pretty easy when you, a, have one dedicated music producer, and two, co-create part of the music as well. For the record, having one or 15 music producers is not a bad thing, both games have a damn good musical score.

Scriptable smart locks?

2020-01-21 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : Rastislav Kiss via Audiogames-reflector

Scriptable smart locks?

Hi folks,I have again spent some time with thinking, how to improve everyday activities, to make them faster, more comfortable etc.And I've been thinking about smart door locks. After some little research on Google, I was quickly able to identify the biggest problem of these.Almost every kind of smartlock seems to be preloaded with tons of functionality, such as bluetooth unlocking, unlocking through app, cloud unlocking, integration with Google assistant etc. But when I think about it, I don't want most of them to even exist in the lock.Who is supposed to use it? Me or Google? When remote access is enabled, what guarantee do I have, that someone can't launch an mitm attack and get in?Just about a year ago if I remember right, a Google programmer decided to check out smart locking system, that they were using in the work, and found critical vulnerabilities, which could be misused very easily. thus it seems to me, that I'm not just paranoic, but rather that this is quite real scenario.Of course, even with mistakes like these, smart locks are still much harder to hack than traditional locks, as you need at least some technical skill, which usually normal thieves don't have I guess. But still, when I consider, that the mistakes are totally pointless, because I don't need the problematic functions at all...What makes me think, isn't there some scriptable lock? I don't want any default behavior, just basic bluetooth / wifi hardware, connection through USB (from inside of course), with ready Python interpreter, or whatever programming language, it doesn't really matter. And the rest would be made completely by me. I would use nfc, make an app for my phone, smart watch, etc. and unlock the door by wireless communication between device and the lock. My own protocol, my own tokens, my own verification system. There wouldn't be any cloud functionality, but I could fully guarantee, that only way to get through without my app would be with battering ram.Because I'm onlyone who uses the system, I have much bigger variability in verification algorithms, and I think that with the system I have currently in my mind, even the best hackers in the world wouldn't be able to pass it without hacking my phone or stealing verification source codes. Both of those are quite hard to do to technically experienced person, so at least until NSA doesn't send a hacking team after me, I should be okay. But from quick looks on Google, I feel, that I'm onlione who got this idea. Btw, does anyone know, how do insurance companies deal with smart locks? From what I understood in descriptions of some common models, they are used to unlock the main door lock, but this alone isn't considered enough protection in case that someone breaks in. You need at least the middle bar like lock, I don't know if I'm describing it right. It's that horizontal bar, which you can either widen or narrow by rotating the key. Thus it isn't a predefined number of cycles to lock or unlock, but you rather turn it until you're finished.I'm not sure, if those smart locks, which you just attach from inside can deal with these mechanisms.Best regardsRastislav

Haha, you just need to get better at it. Noughts and crosses is a simple game, once you get how it works you'll realize that the bots are so hard because there is only one way to play the game, essentially allowing the one who played first to win the game. Mile by mile probably has the best designed bots, I've looked at the code and that's exactly what the human player mostly would do, I suppose that shows it's a simple game.

Re: tone generation with panning and pitch change in python

2020-01-21 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : magurp244 via Audiogames-reflector

Re: tone generation with panning and pitch change in python

Yes, as amerikranian put it the sound moves along the x axis to simulate a panning effect from left to right. Each sound is represented in 3D space, so the position argument takes an X, Y, and Z coordinate. How you hear the sound is determined by its relative position to the listener in 3D space, so if you put it at position [-200,0,0] with the listener at [0,0,0] and facing forward, it will sound as though its coming from the left, and if you put it at [200,0,0], it will sound as though its on the right. The size of the distances in the examples are rather arbitrary, but partially a result of the Roll Off Factor, which is how much the volume drops depending on how far away the sound is from the listener. Since Pyglet uses OpenAL for its positional audio and other effects, this should also hold true for it. I actually have other scripts around that expands pyglets functionailty to also handle EFX filters and effects around, though the PyLite wrapper is much easier to setup and run with.A note of caution, the pitch shifting is a bit janky, and has a way of making the sound play longer when at lower pitches, and faster at higher pitches. There was suppost to be a pitch shift filter in its EFX pack that would preserve the lengthof the sample, but that doesn't seem to quite work. If you'd ilke any tips or examples on generating your own tones, feel free to ask.
