Yup, Dropbox is a really bad idea for hosting stuff that's supposed to be permanent. Either Dropbox disables the link for generating too much traffic, or the developer/host gets bored/needs more space/stops using Dropbox altogether. If you don't believe me, just take a look at the number of topics where someone has announced something, provides a Dropbox link, then eventually someone else tries to grab it only to find it's gone.

I figured that out by accident. It seems the Read me is still from version 1.0, at least if you use the auto updater. Is there a way to move the fire once you've placed it, or are you stuck with that location forever if you don't want to totally wipe everything out?

@100: No. This game is coded in BGT, and BGT games tend to be detected as false positives. There is absolutely nothing the developer of this game can do, short of completely rewriting the game in another language, which would be a massive undertaking.

There's a slight bug there. I noticed it last night when I wondered why my flask wasn't working even though I knew there was water in it. You can't drink from the flask if either of your coordinates is 100. In other words, if you're anywhere at the top edge of the map or the right edge of the map, the flask will not work. Obviously if you're at the top right corner, you drink directly from the spring.

For those wondering how to get meat from dead animals:When you kill an animal, you automatically start carrying it, or at least its raw meat, effectively. To cook the meat so you can eat it, you must have the cooking fire crafted. In version 1.1 or below, go to 0, -10, the bottom left corner of the safe zone, where you hear the fire crackling. Hit left alt to bring up the cooking menu, and select an animal to cook. Do this until you've cooked everything or you hit Escape to exit. Now you have cooked meat which you can eat.Hope this helps.

I have a few suggestions for the future.1. I haven't crafted the binoculars yet, but that's the only item I don't have. Unless I'm missing something, once I craft them, there's no further use for any of the resources I still have. To avoid this situation where you have no motivation to gather resources, possibly have a system where every time an item is used, there's a small chance it will break. The chance of breakage is higher if the item has been around for a while or is heavily used. When something breaks, you lose the item entirely, possibly salvaging some of the resources that were used to craft it. At that point, you no longer have the item, but can craft it again if you have the necessary resources.2. Someone mentioned a storage shed for keeping food across deaths. I think that's a great idea. But everything has its price. First, of course you need resources to craft it. Also, every once in a while, especially if you're near or in your shed, there's a chance that animals will attack the shed. If they do, they may steal some or all of the food you have stored there, and in severe cases they might destroy the shed entirely. Also, if the shed is near the cooking fire, there's a small chance a stray spark from the fire could hit the shed, setting it on fire, damaging or destroying it. If the shed is destroyed, you lose everything stored there, and again, you might be able to salvage some of the resources. You can craft another one if you have enough resources.

Server appears to be down. When launching the game, there's a long delay, then a message of the day that's completely blank, then when you hit Enter another long delay, then a fatal error. Looking at the error log, it seems the server is actively refusing connections.Imho this game should handle server failures more gracefully, allowing us to at least play offline, even if we can't post our scores, while the server is down.

Is this game still being worked on or updated? If so, I have some ideas for things I'd love to see added or changed.1. When you start a game and the weird guy is going "One! Two! Three!" the game goes "not responding" according to Windows.2. I'd love to see some additional items E.G. one to make a bunch of items spawn, one to make a bunch of hazards spawn, one to temporarily make bombs spawn more frequently, etc.3. Cheats! I'd love, love, love to see some cheat codes added to do all sorts of cool things E.G. tons of warp boxes, invincibility, etc. Naturally, any games played with cheats wouldn't be eligible for posting on the scoreboard.

As far as I know, there are no achievements. As of a few weeks ago, the game is now Windows only.You use the r key to throw a rock, and you have to throw rocks at walls to smash them, jumping will get you killed as you found out. You seem to have an infinite supply of rocks to be thrown at rocks and boulders.

Just as another thing, with this latest version I'm still occasionally getting silent walls. I'm just walking around and out of the blue I hit a wall and die. This is sometimes happening in the first game of a session, so it's definitely not an unsmashed wall left over from a prior game.

There are a few bugs in this version which were also in the last version.First, at least for me, scoreboard posting doesn't work, I get the traceback posted at the end of this message.Second, sometimes, especially if I've played several games in a session, there will be some hazards that don't make any sound except the footstep boundry/alarm sounds as I approach. Since they don't make the electric/fire/chasm noise, I'm not expecting them so many times I don't jump in time, fall in, and die. There's a second quest that probably becomes available when you become a trader, though I'm not sure. Just off the Traders' Guild is another room where there's a guy you can talk to. He gives you a quest involving a planet called Graveyard wishing to join the Traders' Guild. It seems Graveyard wants to open a trading exchange, selling products for far less than the price any other exchange would charge. Naturally, the guild are suspicious that something is not quite right with this planet, and have sent someone to investigate, only to have them disappear without a trace.

The game was originally called Mafia. Then in 1997 Andrew Plotkin AKA Zarf, the interactive fiction author, modified it to be about werewolves, and this is the version that seems to have stuck.It is a lot of fun to play, especially with a large number of humans. I've never played it in person, don't really know how that would work for blind people because the nighttime activities involve pointing, etc. But I learned it on ifMUD where there's a bot named Floyd who at least at one time could let people play it.

I just saw something happen which seems an outright bug.So there I was, playing my little heart out, when I became possessed. Ah cool, I get to sit back and relax for ten seconds while the AI goes off and does good stuff for me! Well, not quite.A cactus spawned. I could also hear that a troll had spawned. So my possessed self walks up to the cactus and…CHOP! Bye bye, cactus. Nice to see ya, wouldn't wanna be ya!You can see where this quickly lead. Game over! The troll was no doubt very happy with the actions of my AI self, since it sealed my doom. Even if I'd somehow been able to rest control of my character from the bumbling idiot currently in the driver's seat, I could have done nothing to save myself.

One thing I've noticed is that if you have something like a friendly bot or are possessed, a lot of times it'll cut down any cacti that spawn. Normally this is all well and good, but it's very likely to be fatal if that cactus spawned because a troll also spawned. You would think the goal of any AI would be, at the very least, not to get itself killed. Of course there's a problem here, since the AI probably doesn't take into account that if its actions get you killed, it's going to effectively die as well, since when you die, it's game over, and the entire field—and everything and everyone on it—is destroyed.

I've noticed that a lot of times the powerup you get isn't being read. I'm using JAWS, and I'm pretty sure the problem is that if you're not extremely careful about just tapping arrow keys when near a powerup, if you have a key held down, speech is interrupted so you never get to hear what it said.

I've noticed weirdness about the save too. I tell it to skip the intro, and sometimes it only honors this after I quit and restart the game. For what it's worth, I loved it. In fact, I immediately downloaded Twine, found it to be less than accessible in some areas, and found out about Twee2, a command line Twine compiler, and I've been playing with it ever since.And if you want the source code, I have a little story for you. I downloaded the game, which in reality is just a single .html file, used Twee2 to decompile it (that feature doesn't work on Windows for some reason) and then recompiled it and…apparently I don't have the complete source code after all!

I downloaded my copy of this ad in August of 2004. For a spoiler about a later game, read below!I've uploaded the original ad to my server. Wow that minigame is cool! Still haven't quite figured out exactly what triggers it.There should probably be a sound played when your regular game is interrupted, if you're holding down an arrow key while using a screen reader the minigame message could get silenced, which might throw people off when everything just stops for no apparent reason.

I know it's probably a bit late for this, but one thing I'd love to see is a way to have several different loop sounds, one of which is randomly chosen for each instance of that object at time of creation. My use case for this would be, for instance, an annoying musical Christmas decoration/toy/animal/ornament/etc. where the different loop sounds are different tunes it can play. When each one is spawned, one of the random loop sounds is chosen to be its loop sound, for as long as that object exists.

Lol I just had a crazy idea. One of the objects should be a trash can! At time of creation, it's set up to have a random amount of stuff in it. When you flip it over, all the stuff comes flying out, so depending on how full it was, it could create a few or possibly several dozen pieces of debris!

What's probably happened is that your ISP's DNS server has a copy of the old records in its cache, and when that times out it'll start working. Unfortunately there's no way for you to ask your ISP to clear their DNS cache. Each entry in DNS has what is called a Time to Live (TTL) value. This tells servers along the line how long to keep that record. That way your local ISP can see if it has a valid record and give that to your computer, rather than having to go look it up from somewhere else. When a DNS server does such a lookup, it looks at the TTL of the record it finds, and if it has expired, it discards it and gets a fresh copy. At least I hope I'm explaining this right!

DNS records are kind of like a phone book for the Internet. Your computer asks for, let's say Google.com, and the DNS tells it the IP address, a set of numbers which will let it connect to that site. What has happened is that those numbers have changed for the SBYW site, but the DNS records that tell your computer the new address haven't made their way around the net yet. It will take maybe a day or so at the most, but it will eventually work.

Now that I think about it, the scoreboard-related trophy really isn't as big of a deal as I thought. If you get that trophy, then you can at some point get one other trophy you couldn't without it, probably the Extra Credit trophy. If scoreboards became forever broken, that would leave you with a maximum of 38 trophies, and I think that's where the last movie in the LWorks Theater is unlocked so you're not really missing out on anything other than two trophy announcements.

As to finding things in cabins, you'll have to search all the cabins every time you play. With every new game, the locations of all items found in the cabins is randomized, which means nobody can tell you where to find things in cabins, because it's different with every game.

Lol I have so many ideas for this game! One would be to have lots of items you can throw in the trash. Which one you get for each shot is random. Each item has a name, as well as its own sounds for various types of hits and misses. Some items could have special properties, such as losing points if you miss a shot with something made of glass, and it hits the floor and shatters, with appropriate sound effects of course!Another idea would be a two-player mode where you play against the computer. You start near the left edge of the grid and your opponent starts near the right edge. Whenever a player makes a shot, the trash can moves in the direction of his opponent's end of the field. E.G. if you make a shot, the trash can moves to the right, if your opponent makes a shot, it moves to the left. The first person to move the trash can to his opponent's end of the field wins!

Uh, yeah, you could say cheaters have taken over. Suggestions:1. Wipe all the negative scores, that's just silly.2. Wipe lower duplicate scores from a person, in other words, only keep any given user's highest score.3. If you can't stop em, track em! Require people to register for a username and password in order to post scores. Registration requires a valid Email address, verified at time of registration. That way if someone cheats and then posts their inflated score, you at least have an Email address to blame for it!

Did you remember to tell AGT to send output to the BIOS? I think theres a /b switch you need to give to the executable to get it to do that. Otherwise it writes directly to screen memory, which in my experience never worked 100% with screen readers, and was mostly silent without setting up monitored windows.

Ive noticed a few bugs, as follows:1. When James drops a bomb, if you kill him before it goes off, its still there when the next level starts, and if you dont get to the safe zone, youll most likely die, havent tested this though. Any bomb should probably be cleared when you kill James.2. The game time doesnt reset when you start a new game. So if you play two or more games, the time will show the time for all the games during this execution of the program.

I have one suggestion. While playing, any time you hit a cut scene E.G. you win or you die, you should have to press a specific key, say Esc or Enter, to bypass that scene and return to the menu. Several times, Ive been banging on the space bar like theres no tomorrow, only to have the game unexpectedly terminate. I assume I either won or died, no way to know which, then immediately selected Exit from the menu.

Its been a while since I played, but if I remember correctly, there is a pattern to what you can do.SpoilersHave you noticed that his shield changes colors? Each different color means you can hit him with a different type of attack (dice, knife, dragon strike scroll). Unfortunately, I have forgotten which color represents which attack type, but Im pretty sure it goes in a cycle.

I can confirm that the arrow keys dont work under Jaws, thats probably why hes going to add letter key equivalents, since PureBasic probably has no equivalent to the BGT Install_Keyhook() function, since PureBasic is a general purpose language.

At this point, viruses will start appearing off to your right, and walking toward you. You need to kill all the viruses that appear during this segment. If even one virus gets past you and gets to a certain place, you will have failed this bit, and youll get the You let me down! speech.

I also agree that there should be some possibility of attractions breaking down in repairable ways. Lets say youve got this huge ride that you put tons of money into building. Now every now and then there are going to be little problems with it, and your maintenance staff will fix those, thats part of what theyre there for. And of course, some times the ride might break so badly that the only thing to do is to tear it down and start over. But there could also be situations where your mega-expensive ride breaks down in a way where itll cost you quite a bit to get it fixed, but it would cost more to replace it. Then, a decision comes into play. Do you make the investment to fix the ride so it can run again, or do you tear it down and put something else there?

Heres an even worse example of what can go wrong if you load and save to the same database. Lets say you or one of your admins has just made a stupid typo and wiped out a whole ton of work, and the only way to get it back is to restore from a DB. Now lets also say nobody notices this until one or more DB dumps have already occurred, or someone uses @shutdown or shutdown() to kill it, which is *not* the proper way to shut down a broken MOO in a situation like this. If you save to a different file, at the very least, youll have the original database from which you loaded to fall back on. Sure, everything done since the last restart will be lost, but maybe you can find a way to get some of it back. If you start from and save to the same file, youre totally screwed. Even the DB from which you last started is useless, since it now has the messed up stuff. This, of course, assumes you havent been making nightly or more often! backups of the current da
 tabase, which is always a good idea when you have an active game.

I noticed a few odd things about the game.1. I have purchased some more land, and it seems the marching band never goes past the 10 square, so if youre at 10, 12, its like they might come to 10, 10, but never 10, 11 or 10, 12.Also, when you go bankrupt, time keeps ticking away while you review the final park stats. You can even do things like check Email, check bank balance, etc. and I think events can even happen once youre bankrupt. If youre walking the park when you go bankrupt, you still hear the park noises. What Id suggest is something like, you go bankrupt, all timed events stop dead in their tracks, time stops moving, you get taken away from where you are and put in a quiet environment to review the final stats, and the function keys stop working, so you cant check Email any more.

Oh, you mean the guy who keeps saying Go away! After your guy *finally* manages to ask him what he thinks of the park, he says something like, Well, the staff are a little pushy. In case you still dont get the meaning, what that means is, the staff dont like taking No for an answer, and will keep asking something even if youve told them to go away. As far as I know, theres nothing you, as the boss, can do about that. Some guests are just rude like that.

I think there should be a few things...First, maybe when SAPI is talking or something else is happening where you are listening, and need to continue listening before you can react in any meaningful way, time slows down to account for time lost while listening to something. In real life, the boss can just give an Email a glance, think to himself, Oh, those stupid entertainers again! and go on with life. But since this is a game, and more specifically, a game for blind people, we have to spend time listening to the same Email.Also I think there should be a way to speed up the passage of time, when youre just waiting for a new week to begin, or you just want to let a few weeks go by without doing anything, to see how things are going, or especially if you need just a little more cash to do that big expansion.Imho, attractions should take some amount of time to build, and they should have a chance of breaking down in a way where they can be repa
 ired, but again, it takes some amount of time to repair them, and during this time, theyre closed to visitors.As for custom attractions, this would present a fairness problem. What if somebody built a custom attraction that was really boring. A theme park classic! Sit in a chair while absolutely nothing happens around you! and gave it a draw factor of 5000?

You can always go back and change the number of each type of employee you have. If youre planning for the future, you may want to hire more than you need right now, but keep in mind, youll still have to pay them, even if theyre standing around doing nothing, which is a waste of money you could put to a better use. Ive also found that, one time when I had a few too many maintenance workers hired, a few of them would walk out on me from time to time. Keep in mind that, if you dont have enough operators and maintenance staff to work all attractions, the most recently built attractions will be closed due to lack of staff to operate and maintain them. If this happens, you arent getting your moneys worth, so hire more workers to solve the problem. To see if any attractions were closed, look at your park status. Also keep in mind that the park status is only updated at the beginning/end of the week, so youll need to wait until a new week st
 arts to get fresh information.

I just wanted to say, I did the under construction area last night, and theres one thing about it which, once I got used to it, I really liked.SpoilersTo enter this area, you must have all thirty-six galactic dusts, which means you cant enter until youve finished the main game and gotten either ending.What I came to like is the fast movement. Maybe there could be special potions sprinkled throughout the various areas, or available at shops, to allow fast movement like this for a limited time? I really liked that aspect of the area, especially when backtracking after doing what I came to do.

I think there are nine floors of the Infinite Matrix. I think this is my least favorite part of the game, made so because its required if you want to finish the story, whereas killing all those shadows of death on the second floor of the Tower of Fear will net you a few cool rewards, but you dont have to do it if you dont want to.

What I think would be good is some way to walk fast or run. Holding down various arrow keys and walking at standard speed through vast, boring, empty areas youve already explored, just to get back to some entrance/exit so you can get on with the story, is very dull.

I finished it! I finished it! I finished it!First let me say: I did not get the all treasures ending, nor did I collect all the galactic dusts. This will require another playthrough. I have a few questions, though. This post contains major end of game spoilers, so stop reading now if you havent finished the game!MajorSpoilersAheadI got the big long end scene, then the credits. Then, apparently, all the flaming bits and pieces of the Paladin decided to stop flaming, and put themselves back together in the right order. Also, Simons escape pod un-exploded. The reason I say all this is, I found myself back in my cabin. So, is there anything else to do, given that I didnt collect all treasures, nor all the dusts?And now, a suggestion or opinion. I think it would be nice if those of us with wins under our belts could have access to some so
 rt of cheat code or option, where we could skip dull, repetitive parts of the game. For example, while the second floor of the Tower of Fear was such an area, the rewards are well worth the trouble. However, I cannot personally say the same for the Infinite Matrix. I dont ever want to play that thing again! And yet, I know Ill have to if I want an alternate ending. This is my opinion.

Ive created the beginnings of a possibly very useful utility for PotS players. Its a Dragon Strike latency and reaction time test tool. Right now, it does two tests. In the first one, you respond to a known stimulus. After that, the program produces twenty-five randomly-spaced beeps, and measures your reaction time, then provides minimum, average, and maximum times, in milliseconds.At this point, Ive only included the BGT source code, if anyone wants to modify it, feel free! I cannot really do this tool justice without some internal information about the Dragon Strike algorithm, such as exactly how long you have to react, whether the timer starts ticking when the beep starts or when it finishes, and whether theres a short window of time *before* the beep starts in which

If youre building your own stage, yes, you can use corrupt sector edges to mark the edges of nothingness pits, but you have to do it manually.

Im just curious, what is the maximum time allowed to react to a beep? Also, is anticipatory early reaction permitted, or do you have to hit the key no earlier than when the beep starts?
