Fantastic! I've had some trouble with disappearing feeds in 3.4, so hopefully they'll be staying now Glad to see that you're still working on it though, it's a great piece of software and very useful for sure. The random strings for file names is a bit frustrating at times, but I don't mind taking the time to manually rename the files, it gives me a chance to reorganise them in a way I lik too, lol.Thank you for making this, as people have said before, it's nice with an alternative to QCast.

The Six Disappearances of Ella McCray is pretty interesting. Two seasons out so far and I'm certainly looking forward to the third. The Magnus Archives just got back from their first of two hiatuses during the fifth and final season with episode 177 last week.Rose Drive is another pretty well produced show, although there's a really sudden twist at one point that I did not expect. A fun one though, but I was very confused for an episode or two.

Re: Horror Podcast Recommendation: The Magnus Archives

SlightPotentialspoilersAheadAll good theories/thoughts. And yeah, after the end of S2, the first one seems pretty likely. That coffin is a weird one. When we learnt it had a staircase inside I was extremely confused. Notbecause it makes no physical sense, which, well, it doesn't, obviously, but more because I had a hard time figuring out which entity it belonged to. Coffin suggest The End, but it's also made of yellow wood and is warm to the touch like the doors of The Distortion. That's one thing I really enjoy about the show. You get a lot of tiny pieces that you can then start to put together over time when you get the blanks filled in better. Although the balance between horror and mystery is a difficult one, and some of the horror definitely goes away later in the show when you know more of what's happening. At least the sort of horror that makes you wonder what's happening and how things work/fit together. I guess it's still full of potential horror from you knowing some of the answers though. You hear a story about a weird book that reeks of ozone and gives you vertigo and a man with a lightning scar throwing himself off a tower. Well, that's odd. YOu learn a bit more and suddenly he shows up years later, watching someone from across the street. And then things just go down hill, or should I say ladder, from there, and you know good old mister Crew probably caused it, but you don't know why. You just know that him showing up is probably going to be bad for someone's general health. I like that evolution, even if the way the stories unsettle me has changed.

Re: Horror Podcast Recommendation: The Magnus Archives

SlightspoileryspoilersAh, that makes sense. Even in your first post you managed to use a lot of words that are used for their names, which I found kind of interesting. Not sure if you had looked them up at that point or if you were just lucky Though I guess slaughter, flesh and corruption aren't particularly unusual words.I remember having a lot of fun trying to piece together the different fears around halfway through season 2. Old Passages was pretty helpful in that regard since we get to hear about a lot of them through their respective hallways. The Distortion has an absolutely fantastic voice actor, and that laugh. I love it.I Elias is a slimy bastard, but I really like his character. Depending on where you are in the podcast by now, you'll know a bit more about him.And you'll definitely learn more about the rest of them as well. Many characters from the early episodes will be mentioned later on, like the Anglerfish victim Sarah Baldwin showing up in episode 28 or Michael Crew showing up like four times in the first two seasons. That guy always fascinated me, probably because Ex Altiora was the spooky Vast book that got me hooked, even if he was only briefly mentioned in that fourth episode. Also fun fact, if you didn't listen to the credits, but Leitner and Gertrude are voiced by Jonny's parents which is pretty cool if you ask me.Another fun fact. There was a contest on the Magnus subreddit where people voted for the best episodes amongst the first 100. First place was 81, A Guest for Mr Spider, second place was episode 2, Do Not Open, and third place was episode 85, Upon the Stair.81 was extremely creepy to me based on the descriptions in it, and has inspired a whole lot of fan art, though most episodes have by this point.Do you have any predictions for the future plot/character arcs?

@Jayde:SpoilersUp untilEpisode 80Did you look up the names for the Entities or are you just really good at guessing? Personally my favourites are probably Stranger, Spiral and Eye. Episode 47, A New Door, when we meet Michael for the first time has always been a favourite of mine, not to mention the writing in episode 74, Fatigue. And yes, shit definitely got real. That's one thing I like about the finales. Everything just gets worse.Flesh is a weird fear, but you'll learn more about that one later on.I personally didn't care much for the Buried for a very long time, but there's an episode or two in the fourth season that changed my view quite a lot. Maybe it's because I've always kind of liked small spaces, though being trapped without nough room to breathe definitely does not sound like a good time.Have you given episode 35, Old Passages, a relisten yet? I like that one for the subtle lore dump. Also, do you have a favourite/least favourite character? Anyone you're looking forward to learning more about?

They did address episode 5 in one of the latest Q's. But a lot of the weirdness that's going on early in the show is kind of a mix of them trying to find the tone/their footing and throwing out bits and pieces to hook the plot into later. A lot was planned out from the beginning, but other things definitely came later/got clarified a bit more.I think episode 2 actually managed to win second or third place when the subreddit voted for the best episodes amongst the first 100 about two years ago. Re: What languages do you want to learn?

Currently brushing up on my German with Duolingo and have looked into Icelandic for about a year. Tried my hands at Welsh a good while back, but never got too far, but it would be fun to know as well. Latin might also be useful...And of course, knowing Danish, I ought to have a decent chance at Norwegian and Swedish. Gods know I need to look more into those - I understand practically nothing of them when spoken. At some point I'll probably also try to get back into Spanish. For constructed languages, Esperanto and Toki Pona could be fun. Esperanto because, well, it's the conlang that seems to be actually used the most, and Toki Pona because I like the way it works, based on what I've read and what a friend told me about it when he was looking into it.

Re: 10 Thousand topics

2020-02-09 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : AlexN94 via Audiogames-reflector

Re: 10 Thousand topics

I created my profile over ten years ago and it's been quite a fun decade I guess. I remember posting a lot back then, but I've been pretty quiet for a few years now as I don't really play many audio games anymore.I have to say though, my best memory was definitely Rastley. I enjoyed that topic a lot, which should also be obvious from my posts in it The nearly daily posting in the old Swamp topic was quite something too. I remember first trying out Swamp right in the beginning when all there was were two sheds, Aprone, a chair and a bunch of zombies. I found it pretty cool, but not worth much of my time, so I didn't try it again until version 1.8, when the sewers were still part of the factory. I played that game all the time with one of my friends and it was always a blast. Then missions came and things got even more interesting. After hardcore mode was introduced and clans started being a thing I began to lose interest though, and I haven't really touched the game in probably five years if not more. Sadly. I loved it so much when it was just about killing zombies and gathering supplies. I was never a big fan of trying to go hardcore, but from what I understand, you don't really have to do that now anyway with items giving you points to spend on titles. I should probably try to get into it again someday if it's still around.I greatly enjoyed the option to script campaigns though, and Cae_Jones' map creator just made that so much more fun. I remember thinking that a creator like that would work really well for creating drawings, and then BrushTone showed up years later and was basically such a tool. Pixl art is difficult, but BrushTone is amazing, especially since it's very easy to convert Braille drawings to pixel art and still have them look decent.Ah, and of course there was TopSpeed! I played that a lot too and made several tracks and vehicles. Pretty sure most of them weren't properly balanced, but I had fun with it which is more important. This site wasn't my first experience with audio games though. For that we need to go back to like 2004 when I got introduced to Shades of Doom at a computer camp thing for blind kids from all over Denmark. It was the demo version of course, but playing through that first level and hearing that pitched up robot voice giving details about the surroundings... Great time!A while after that I also tried out Grizzly Gulch but never figured out how to really play it until years later as my English was practically non-existent. I loved shooting the bank robbers though.Oddly enough I did manage to get through The Last Crusade, without understanding a word of what was said. I remember playing that the first time on my dad's computer one of the times I visited him. I'm pretty sure I also installed it on my own when I came home. That was also around the time I found this site, though for the longest time I just used it to scroll through the database to find games that sounded interesting to me, purely based on the titles and my limited understanding of English. Mud Splat, Descent Into Madness, Private Detective School, Time Adventure, The Great Toy Robbery, Egg Hunt and Super Egg Hunt. The two Code Factory games weren't ones I ever got far in, again because I didn't really understand a word of what was going on, but I enjoyed playing them just the same. Most of my gaming has taken place on Alter Aeon for the last seven years or so. Talon introduced me to it back in 2012, and I guess I've stayed evr since. That and several games from textadventures.co.uk helped me improve my English a lot, so I owe a lot to text based games I guess. Also this post became longer than I'd expected, and probably much more all over the place than if I'd actually planned it out from the beginning, but I'm not about to go back and edit it to flow better. Just a little bit of stream of consciousness from my end about my experiences with accessible games and this forum.

Re: Has anybody tried home brewing?

Basically I followed a super simple recipe I'd been given where you use a bottle and a balloon with a hole poked in it with a needle for an airlock. That all worked out well until I removed the airlock and put on a cap. I'd let out pressure every few hours or so, but managed to forget about it for a few days, so the bottle exploded all over the place.

Because there's a thing such as Google where people can easily find blogs and articles from people that will happily explain and answer questions. It's not your job to educate others. Besides, plenty of questions most likely get asked a lot. Eventually you grow tired of explaining the same thing over and over.

I fully agree that having a token character is bad, but OP's post, to me, feels more like someone coming across something new and unknown and thinking it's getting pushed in for no good reason. The lawyer might be into women, but is it truly being focused on as much as you think, or is are you just focusing more on it when it comes up because it's strange to you?Flip it on the head and try to pay attention to how often a straight character's sexual orientation comes up, then try comparing the two.If the lesbian lawyer's only character trade is that she's part of the LGBTQ+ community, then yes, that's a bad character. But, without having watched the show in question, I'm sure that's not all she is. How does she handle clients? Her work? Her colleagues and friends? What does she do in the show when she isn't working? It's easy to get hung up on one little detail that sticks out to you and forget to look at the rest, or to examine what you're used to consuming in the same light.I'm reminded of a quote, I forget the source, but it goes like this: "When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression."https://quoteinvestigator.com/2016/10/24/privilege/I feel like that's worth keeping in mind, whether you agree with the statement or not. Re: How do I get user carma too?

@Dark: That's fair. I remember something like that being the reason for the removal of down votes too. This forum might be different as it obviously depends on the users, but in my experience with Reddit, it ends up getting balanced fairly well, assuming people are actually good at handing out karma instead of just doing it here and there or jumping on the bandwagon when they see someone has -58 points. And considering Reddit can be way more toxic than this place has probably ever been, well. Then again, Reddit has thousands of different subreddits with vastly different people frequenting them, so it doesn't really say much I suppose.I guess it boils down to the user base in the end and how they treat the voting system.

Although you literally did with your first post: "I am now a voice actor. And you did do a pretty decent work.Proper feedback time though. I'd probably suggest you work some on portraying emotions. You had a fair range in the demo, but I didn't really hear the emotions coming through that much.I hope you get the chance to go back there, it sounds like a really fun time. I was more referring to finding an old piece of equipment in working order for a not too ridiculous amount of money, as I have seen a fair bunch going for $500 and the like. And no, fortunately I don't have any tapes in need of being recorded digitally. I already have two tape players that I could use for that regardless, one with a built-in microphone, but far as I can tell, no way to connect an external one, which, as you guessed, is what I'm aiming for. Thanks a lot about all that info though, especially about the belts. Re: Two questions regarding recording

Honestly, I'm less concerned about the audio quality than just being able to record to tape. Assuming that's the quality you were talking about. Of course there's also the physical quality of the equipment after decades to be taken into consideration, which is a very good point. And getting something that's still in good shape by this point is probably not cheap.I don't really know if deck just refers to all tape recorders, or if it's a specific kind. People always referred to the one I had as a dictaphone, for what that's worth, but surprise surprise, if you try googling that, all you get are digital recorders today.

The problem is, I'm not exactly looking for a tapedeck, I reckon those are somewhat easier to find. Unless I'm misunderstanding the definition of tapedeck of course. I'm not thinking of the big bricks that can record on four tapes at once, I'm thinking of something just big enough to hold one. I guess Ebay is an option, never used that site and I'll admit I'm a tad reluctant to, but you're probably right about sellers there actually caring about their rep.Good to know blank tapes can still be bought, if nothing else they'll be useful for foley footsteps on grass I guess. Thanks a lot for your answer though, it was very helpful.

Two questions regarding recording

So, instead of creating two topics, I'll just create one...First of all, I have an Olympus LS-100, but no kind of accessories like a tripod or wind shield. Anyone who knows where to buy these for a decent price? I suppose I could always try to craft a wind screen myself, but if I can buy a proper one I'd rather do so.Second question is a tad more niche but something I've looked for for a couple years now. Many years ago I had a handheld tape recorder, as in the size of a walkman. Does anyone know if those can still be bought somewhere without me having to go on Craig's List or the like to get an ancient one that Steve spilled coffee into in 1998 but it still has most of the buttons? Preferrably one with a microphone jack so I'd be able to, well, connect a microphone.Bonus points if I can also buy blank cassettes, lol.

I guess I might be the only one thinking that if someone requests a ban for their own well being, the least mods could do would at least be to reach out to them and set one up that would suit their needs. If they know they would benefit from a ban and also know they can't just go and scramble their password, then decide to request help with it... Why not help them instead of just telling them to either stay or just get better? I know bans have been given on Alter Aeon for similar reasons, at least in the past, and whilst it does seem a tad unusual, I reckon the idea is good.

Speaking directly to us. HERASo here's a story. Once upon a time, there lived a broken little girl. She was born with clouded eyes, and a weak heart, not destined to beat through an entire lifetime. But instead of being wretched or afraid, the little girl decided to be clever. She got very, very good at fixing things. First she fixed toys, and clocks, and old machines that no one thought would ever run again. Then, she fixed bigger things. She fixed the cold and drafty orphanage where she grew up; when she went to school, she fixed equations to make them more useful; everything around her, she made better... and sharper... and stronger. She had no friends, of course, except for the ones she made. The little girl had a talent for making dolls - beautiful, wonderful mechanical dolls - and she thought they were better friends than anyone in the world. They could be whatever she wanted them to be - and as real as she wanted them to be - and they never left her behind... and they never talked back... and they were never afraid of her. Except when she wanted them to be. But if there was one thing the girl never felt like she could fix, it was herself. Until... one day a strange thing happened. The broken girl met an old man - older than anyone she had ever met, but still tricky and clever, almost as clever as the girl. And he said - MR. CUTTER"Hello, little girl. I want you to make a doll for me." Whoops, did we say Hera? We actually meant - PRYCE"And it must be your very best doll. It must look like a real person, and sound like a real person, and be a real person. Can you do this for me?" MR. CUTTERThe girl thought for a moment. Then she said, "And if I can?" PRYCEThe old man replied, "Then you and I will fix the world. I will be young and you will be whole and the world will finally be everything it could be. Everything it should be." MR. Re: Bad ass science fiction and space podcastS!

I'll just post the whole, honestly horrible, bit I'm talking about in regards to Wolf 359 calling disabled people broken and less than whole people. It's really not a question of being offended by everything here, it's a question of being a decent person. If you feel like it's remotely okay to imply that someone isn't a real person just because they have a disability, I really don't know what to tell you. Especially if you yourself are disabled. You really should be ashamed of yourself though...But yeah, have the bit here, so, eh, spoiler warning for the opening bit for the final episode of Wolf 359. Re: Woman

I suppose that's one way to look at it, but that really isn't how it comes across to me. Point taken though.
