problem with JAWS and TTS voices. so I've got JAWS 18 installed in my PC, and I downloaded a couple of vocalizer expressive 2 voices from their site and installed 'em. but when I change the synthesizer to vocalizer, nothing happens--that is, it is the eloquence that says "vocalizer(factory default)", and in the "voice person" box, I get eloquence varients like reed and glen and sandy and so on. also, when I try to adjust the sapi5 synthesizer to set-up a voice profile of ESpeak in my local language, half the things are still spoken by the default synth--MS Anna though everything is set correctly. I imagine the same thing'd happen even if I installed other sapi5 synths like Ivona. so does anyone know what's wrong? and what do I need to do to fix it? my sapi5 seems to be broken. please help! whenever I open the speech properties in the control panel, it shows the error "Windows Shell Common Dll has stopped working". I can't change the system voice, or find any installed voices in the speech properties list. however, the sapi voices work alright when used with JAWS or NVDA. by the way, I'm using win7 32 bit. so, how do I fix this? updating a windows PC: help please? hae guys. so I was trying to update a PC running win7 with service pack 1, but what came up was this message "Code 800B0101 Windows Update encountered an unknown error." so I manually downloaded the file (windows6.1-KB976932-X86) from the microsoft website and ran it. But it also didn't work, as it gave the following error:Installation was not successful. A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed file.So, what may be the problem? and how can I resolve it? (note that the time, timezone etc of the system are correct). help please? Open GL? so I was installing a program and it said it needed Open gl 3.0 to instal properly. I've been googling, downloading stuff, and trying all possible stuff to findout my Open GL version and/or instal/update it to 3.0. and all for not! so, how do I find out what version of Open GL I have, and how do I possibly update it? Hae all! so I've been looking for a speech recognition software that can give me the full control of the system using my voice, and the most prefered option that I came across was Dragon. however, I wanted to know if it's possible with it to type? that is, to speake into the mic and get the words typed out? or is there another better option for that kind of thing? WiFi, android, and infernal troubles? so, I was trying to use my laptop as a virtual router to connect my android(running 4.4.2) to the internet. it found the connection, but as soon as I tapped connect, it showed obtaining IP address and was stuck there. I took to google, and found that this was a common enough problem, and that setting my phone's IP setting to static should solve it. I did the same, and Hurray! the phone got connected. but it was not the end of it. as soon as I tried to brows, it told me that there was no indication of a network whatsoever. mind you, in principal, I was well-connected. I again whent googling. and found that setting the IP back to DHCP after establishing the connection might solve the problem. I did that, and there it was! the same old error! now, I tried changing the IP setting back to static, but as soon as I do that, the save butten grays out. and Talkback says it is disabled. so, any sollutions? how can I get connected? and by the way, my phone can connect alright to an open network. so, anyway by which I can establish an open network. without those WPA and all that security measures? Re: What do people believe when it comes to religion and or spirituality? am I the first one who has experience with Hinduism to post around here? well, theoritically, Im a Hindu, through and through. and about God, I certainly believe that theres some higher power that regulates/maintains the overall function of the universe. and that power is called the Virat or the Purusha in the Vedas. and as a Hindu, the religion also offers me a rational explanation for the question:why are their multiple Gods and Goddesses?. the single power, for the sake of the proper functioning of the universe, derived from itself all the forms. and yes, the religion lets us see these as forms of energy, with a living form attached to the energy. I have, in my experience, found that this imagery helps me consentrate better during meditation. and as for hell and heaven, the Hindu scriptures present these as mere concepts, and not as actual places. Re: a few complaints about the blind comunity to begin with, I do agree that this so called entitlement atitude does prevail among blind, at least in my place. they want free rides in public transport, reservation in jobs, and all the rest of it, just because theyre blind. not just that, somere not even ready to produce the required proof(Ive seen blind people arguing with bus conductors because they asked them to show theirblind pass)but, equal opportunities? Ive to agree with the popular sentiment. EG:I dont know if it had been mensioned before(I havent read the whole discussion yet) you have these TVs that all can see plainly. but if youre blind and need a lil audio feedback, youve to pay at least thrice the normal price.(computers and screenreaders are a similar case) how should one go about tolerating this? EG, before 3/4 years, the average blind would have adviced his fello highly against changing to a touch device. and tell you what, the IPhone was almost as accessible then as now. and anyway, how and why is 1 supposed to improve the accessibility of a new technology if theres no user? so, esencially, the accessibility gets improved when we, as a community demand it.
