Re: Pfizer or Oxford?

@19 there is a fundamental flaw in your message which is that it is  binary. It is not binary whether you are infected or not because of the degree of infection and transmission. Different vaccines cause cells to act differently because of the tech they use, and when those cells fight the virus, it decreases the viral load in the body. The question is, of course, by how much. People with low viral loads might still have the virus but show no symptoms. People with even lower viral loads have a lower chance of transmitting it to other people. People with higher viral loads are more likely to be hospitalized than those with lower viral loads, and people with higher viral loads are more likely to have severe illness or die than those with lower ones. Vaccines can drastically lower the chance of severe illness, hospitalization, and death even though they may not completely eradicate the virus. WIthout the idea of being inefceted as a binary, none of your other points about not being afraid of the virus , or that it's just a flu, really work.

1. Make sure the synth track is armed by pressing f7 when focused on it.2. Press the applications key on the track in reaper, go down to input: midi, make sure virtual midi keyboard is set to all channels, then you should be able to use alt+b to enter midi in.3. make sure the output device is set to whatever audio output you have

Re: Transfering to GoldWave from Audacity, any Tips?

I like audacity's multitrack interface for simple projects better than Reaper's because Reaper is so busy. Items, track folders and fx chains add a lot of unnecessary clutter for a simpler project. But for the really complex projects like editing together long cut scenes, reaper is definitely the superior option. So I have all three programs installed and use them in different situation.

2021-02-15 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : keyIsFull via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Transfering to GoldWave from Audacity, any Tips?

pros of goldWaveGoldWave is overall simpler than audacity because GoldWave doesn't have any multitracking capabilities. I do have it installed because  I like its auto preview feature better than the reaper media explorer, mainly because reaper takes forever to open up because  I haven't bought it so I  have to wait to cancel the nag screen. There's a section intthe GoldWave manual about accessibility, and there's also an NVDA addon that gives you a few extra convenience commands. Check out the manual at https://goldwave.com/help/mobile/Access … rview.htmlGoldWave also has a different effects pallet than Audacity. Of particular note is the directX effect support which gives you access to dx chorus, flanger, phaser and a few other cool things; time warp, which has some of the better time stretching algorithms I've seen, and pan, which lets you move a sound in the stereo field. Which brings me to another thing that's cool about goldWave, accessible envelopes. This is pretty much a way to draw a parametric line. For example, for pan, you might say that at 2 seconds I want it to be totally center, then at 4 seconds I want it to start moving to the right and thne at 7 seconds it should be 20% right, and you can do this by entering 3 points on the envelope and then goldwave will do the necessary calculations. Pretty neat. It's another reason why I have goldWave available, as I have sometimes really benefited from envelope effect work.ConsSingle track editing. Though it makes the interface simpler, single track editing feels a lot like training wheels on a bike. It makes it easier to learn in the beginning but there's a whole lot that single tracking won't let you do, and then you'll have to work a bit to unlearn the single tracking habits. Also, when you edit in GoldWave, you are doing what's called destructive editing. If you save the file, you don't have a copy of the file before being saved. Contrast this with Audacity, who's multitracking forces Audacity to make what are called audacity projects for each job. These project files preserve the original material, and you then run an encoder once you have finished all your work to output the finished edits as a  standard audio file instead of an audacity project. I can't stress the power of multitracking. If you haven't done it before and you start now, you will never want to single track again.Audacity's effects pallet is different from GoldWaves. Some of the effects where it has a huge advatnage are the equaliezr, which has 30 bands, all of which are accessible, so it's really easy to cut out that one annoying frequency or frequency range. I also far prefer its noise removal, reverb, compressor, and high/lowpass filters to GoldWave's versions.

THis is an interesting take on courses and I haven't seen a company that specializes specifically in this one area. I am assuming that course creators and other non-internal hires would be independent contractors and have to worry about their own tax forms and withholdings. Also, have you thought about allowing for course-specific supplementary materials? For example, for GGF's prospective braille music course, GGF might want to emboss and send off some sheets of Braille music along with the audio files so that a user of the course could follow along with the course. THis example might be a bit weaker, sincemost blind people have a Braille display or access to an embosser, but there might be other tools that aren't as easi to acquire.

I have never done audio synthesis though, besides with the bgt tone synth object, so I would have to figure out how to do all that stuff. I was thinking of doing it through web audio so that the user's browser could handle it. Is there any tutorial about audio synthesis with web audio that I could check out? I would recommend just recording it as normal, and then using the gain function afterward. Just hit shift-g while you're focused on the track with the class's audio in the track table, and enter a number for the number of db to raise the track volume up by. 12 will crank it up a really large amount, so something less than that is usually fine. You'll of course want to make sure the microphone is as close to the teacher as possible so that you get less of the background noise of the room and more of the teacher. Then file/export.

most annoying part of this new skype, chatwise, is that I can't use the end key to jump to the latest message. THere's sometimes a jump to last message button, but that is unreliable. Also, for multi line messages, it just doesn't read them as well. It instead just strips out the new line characters, which often causes words to run together or punctuation marks to run into new words, making the reading sound rushed. Also, the lack of sound scheme customization is another big turnoff. But I guess it could be way worse. I would encourage people using skype to just migrate to discord for large skype groups. Screen reader and keyboard accessibility is no worse on discord than it is on skype, and you could even make a persuasive argument that it's better.

Perhaps, but I think we need more info before we just jump right to even the possibility of ADHD> It might be that his classwork isn't accessible, it might be that he's unmotivated, that he's distracting himself, that he has an unstable family situation. I also think that people rush to diagnose any case of a little bit of out of focus behavior as ADHD, and then feel like putting the person on medication is like the silver bullet fix to attention problems.

well, most tapes are 30 minutes to a side. There are a few low density tapes that are 15 minutes to a side, but you just need to split the file into groups of 15 minutes or 30 minutes.

Re: Introducing simuTapes, a media player simulating a tape player

some ideas:the repair of the tape player can be randomized, and if the tape player is in bad repair the file's pitch will randomly slide up and down. More if the repair is really bad to simulate a warbly sound.if you pause a tape, the pitch of the tape should decrease by a lot just before pausing, just like how a rea player sounds.if you hit the rewind button by itself the tape is silent but holding down the rewind andd the play button makes the tape play backward at a very very high pitch (probably not quite possible since the bgt pitch functions only let you go about 400% of normal pitch before thee sound card gets mad)

That's how restricted users are only allowed to post in the introduction topic until you unrestrict them. WHich is just changing their membership from restricted to member. It owuld work exactly the same. I'm not sure if setting up forum restrictions for user gruops requires richard/sander though.

Re: I'm leaving for now

WELL the community failure clause is supposed to stop people from gaming the system like that, but the mods are of course super leary about using that. I think they have  maybe one time. And if they do invoke it more, you know a lot of people like Ironcross are going to complain. As jade said before, the mods just can't win. Maybe they just need thicker skins. Often the worst reactions are knee jerk ones which, after the complainer cools off2 or 3 days later, they realize oh hey, this really isn't so bad. Banning these kids who cockily say, I don't care if I get banned followed by something that blatantly disobeys the rules, would probably do the forum a favor, because it's only kids who are saying it and when you don't do anything besides warn them, it tells other kids that they can get away with doing similar things. If you need evidence, just look at this topic. To reiterate the idea of the kids room, because I feel like it is worth repeating, there is a moderate sollution between letting them get away with it, and outright banning. add another group, that you move these troublemakers to call it kids or something of that sort. People in this group are only allowed to post in the kids room. similar to how restricted users can only post in the restricted users, introduce yourself to gain access. room. See, it makes life good for everyone. We don't have to read their imaturity unless we want to, and they're still allowed to do it in a sandbox environment where they can see that it's pretty much self destructive behavior. Win win.#FreeTheKids

So let's look at what they really mean. What they said around this time last year: Oh man, dark is evil, he believed this psychopath who told him a bunch of lies, down with dark down with dark! Up with Aprone, AProne was right, aprone was right all along, up with nocturnus we like nocturnus! Oh crap they both left, new make a new web site this one sucks! Ah well, I don't have any hosting besides jc hosting, I guess we'll stay here. new moderation team full of people we like, new moderation team full of people we like! What they meant: Yes, let's jump on the bandwagon because dark is evil, he let this horrible thing happen, he caused walter to be banned from the forum and he has to go! Because a ban from the forum is the worst thing that can happen to blind gamers...What they said later: Yeah this forum sucks right now! It will implode on itself! We need new moderators! Don't let dark pick any new moderators because he's obviously evil. Uh-oh, jade is one of those he picked, it is just evil, down with jade, down with jade! And now, after about 9 months of life under Jade ...They are saying, there was never so much warnings and stuff going on here back when those old moderators were around. And now the new ones, they're just banning people, warning people, closing topics, threatening people with warnings etc. We want the old way back. The old way back was much better! What they mean: I actually liked that old time better, when I could do what I want. Damn these stupid moderators stopping me from disobeying the rules! I really want to disobey the rules but they're actually stopping me now ugh! What does this sound an awful lot like, the following scenario: A kid lives with a fairly permissive parent that lets him do a lot of stuff, kind of admonishes him when he does something really bad like stealing money or being arrested by the cops or something. But the parent realizes that the kid is out of control, and knows that forcing the kid back to control is a monumental task because the kid has the parent wrapped around his thumb, so they ship the kid off to the other more strict parent. Well obviously the kid wants that permissive one back. The opponents will say, but dark has been doing this way longer, he has more experience, and we like him. Nope, you didn't like him when he made that mistake, and yeah he was partially at fault for not examining all the evidence, and probably unconsciously being biased in favor of the female because it was partially a sexual allogation she brought up, but she also lied to him and tampered with evidence. So it's not totally his fault. He really did try his best. And people do seem to give him more credit now. The kids are only giving him credit because he mostly tried to calm things down with words rather than outright bans, except for when they blatantly didn't follow the rules, such as discussion of cracks. Obviously, they want to be able to do what they want to do.I will again go back to my refrain when discussing this. If you agree with it, I would encourage you to click the thumbs up button to show your support.#FreeTheKids

Yeah, Simon Vance also reads Fire and Blood, the Targarian history book, and does a really good job. That neutral tone he used is very good for that kind of stuff. Also, Harry lloyd, the guy who plays Joffri in the TV series, is a very good narrator for a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which have the 3 current Dunk and Egg tales. I can still heear him saying, 'Dunk the lunk, stiff as a castle wall", even though I read it a year and a half ago lol.

I really liked the NLS Narrator Roy Avers. He reads the first 3 ASOIAF books as wella s books 4-13 of the wheel of time, and does a great job. Really gets the emotion of the books down, though his character voices aren't super great, but they're still better than nothing. Heather O'neil's Book of the Ancestor is also really nice sounding to me, and I didn't know there was another choice.

Just curious, but what is the cause of the bottleneck that is causing you to have a huge backlog of uploads? Like, can't you just sart an upload queue and have it running overnight, and have the database automatically add file names? You probably don't have to enter the show names by hand. Right?

Bulk rename utility ( https://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Download.php )  is by far the best file renamer I've found. It has loads and loads of different options, but for you, the desired option would be the regular _expression_ group of options. There are a ton of different regular _expression_ guides online, and you can experiment by watching how the names look in the second column of the list view with the folder's files in it. You can use \1, \2, \3 etc for captureed matches as well.

Re: When do you truly lose it all?

Religion is powerful. And you realize just how much it matters to you when everything that distracted you from it goes away. Your testimony is really powerful. I hope that you find a peaceful place in which to live and I hope that you and your family continues to live into the plan set up for you. It may not be completely safe, but it will be good, and it will bring you even closer to the things you love.

Re: windows 10... where to start?

You shouldn't have to reinstall everything if you upgrade from windows 7 to 10. And if you do, it will let you know.I'd probably start with learning the start menu. Hit windows key. And tab around. You'll be able to open up your programs and stuff, but also you'll see the cortana interface. Go talk to your computer. There's a new settings app. You can find it on the start menu screen. It has just about all the essential settings that matter. Some more obscurish settings hide in the old control panel, but you have to type control panel into the start search box to find it.As for books, I recommend reading Windows 10: The Missing Manual. I doubt you have a Bookshare membership because you live in Canada, but if you can, that book is phenomenal, and the author wields a lively pen that will keep you chuckling.

Re: We present to you: The Global Developer Network!

Sounds like another blindy social platform, if anything. Except you have to talk, and actually use a phone, both of which excludes tons and tons more people. This is like 8 times more exclusive than something like Klango because of the phone requirement and the fact that you will probably have to pay international charges if you're not in the US,  and it looks like you have to actually talk to people. Which can be hard for non-english speakers to do, a lot more so than typing in English. If you want to talk to your friends, use skype. Use tt. I don't really know about the upkeep costs for this thing for Ethin and his friends but it doesn't seem like it would cost a lot. My advice: create a channel on the tt public server, password protect it, and invite your friends there. You get stereo output if you want, high quality audio, and you don't pay a cent.

argument about the phone somewhat. I still believe the audio quality would be garbage because it's still going through phone lines and they transmit at 8 kHZ. So any pc-based voice chat software is still vastly better.

Burak's right, but saving the file as mp3 just a few times shouldn't degrade the quality to such an extent as though it sounds like it's 8 kHz. I guess it depends on what effects you're using in there and what format options you have set up.

I removed that myself, because it was making it spell item descriptions in Alter aeon like absorb_magic as A B S O R B M A G I C which I didn't want to hear.

Re: Quick Windows Sequencer Questions

Oh, I'm using sf2 soundfonts that aren't complete gm I think. In fact, if I set coolSoft's instrument list to to the gm instrument list that microsoft wavetable uses, and select an instrument, it won't play anything at all. Before I tried this I had tried manually changing the program on each track to see if I could get at other instruments, and weirdly, program 3 always worked to play this trumpet sound I'd loaded, and changing to any other program broke everything and nothing would even be heard so I had to start qws over. The higher quality soundfont I'd loaded always  played, no matter what order I'd put the soundfonts in in the list. Is there any way to like analyze a .sf2 file to see what programs activate the instruments on the font? These fonts are usually like a single instrument on one program, not a full gm set, though I am downloading the sonatina symphonic orchestra font now, and I know that has multiple instruments on multiple
 programs.

3.5 mm headphones, how to make them last longer?

3.5 mm headphones, how to make them last longer?

Hi, having a problem with 3.5mm headphones. It seems like within 2 weeks to a month of using them, the connection between the headphone cord and the place where they go into the headphone jack gets weaker and weaker. Usually this is accomponied by the loss of sound in one of the ears, or being forced to turn the connection in the jack a certain way to get both channels. I'm not sure what causes this problem, but no one else in my family seems to be having it, even with the cheap $1 headphones because they are able to last them for several months or more before  losing audio. I can tell when this is in danger of happening by the cord slowly leaving the place where you insert it into the jack. I want to know either why this is happening or how to prevent it. I was thinking about maybe taping the two together with duct or packing tape while they were working but not sure if that would affect the audio or even help secure the connection.

Re: good and easy sound editor

Try wave pad. The free version does everything you want and it costs like $40 or $50 to gain some advanced features and remove the nag screens. Its created by NCH software. Forgot the URL.
