I like the sound of having multiple stats.In my opinion it puts more of a purpose to grinding, and fairly limits how much damage you can do with certain weapons running off only 1 attack stat, i.e doing massive damage with a beginner weapon because your attack stat is high. In some games, there is just an attack stat and all your weapons run off of that for damage. I'm now trying to decide wether I should do it that way for damage (attack controls damage, magic controls damage of spells, speed is hit and evasion rate and there are both defenses) or I could do it with more stats meaning something like this, directly taken from the documentation.Power: this is damage you do with large swords, one handed swords and hammers. Magic: this controls the damage and accuracy of magical attacks, and how much MP you get when leveling.Dexterity: this is damage you do with small swords and bows. It also affects when you get a critical hit in battle.Speed: this is your hit and evasion rate, and it also determines if you act first. Slower characters have a lower percentage of acting first in battle, so pay atention to your speed! This also is good to raise if you're using small swords, since it helps with damage and accuracy.Resistance: this helps resist some status affects, and magic damage.Stamina: the higher this is, the more HP you get when you level. It also helps with damage you do with heavy weapons like hammers and large swords, and Step based attacks. Defense and SP. defense: same for both. The more defense you have, the less damage you'll take. However, it's still good to raise HP! Don't just crank defense and ignore HP, because if you do that you're still gunna take a lot of damage from defense ignoring attacks like Clear Burn and 8 6 7 5 3 O 9! Note: SP. Defense is magic defense, Text Game Maker doesn't allow fitting of the words magic defense on one line. Attack: each weapon has it's own base attack. This doesn't add to your power or other damaging stats, and it never changes. It's a way of telling how strong the weapon is. Proficiency: Each weapon has it's own proficiency level. The higher this is, the more accurate you will be with that type of weapon. It also controls damage, but not as much as stats. Proficiency is more important if you want your weapon to hit.So what I mean is, would it be more interesting if each character had a different set of stats to pay attention to or should I just stick with attack, magic, speed and the defenses like The Blank Game 1? Sorry for asking so many questions, I just want this to be a good game when I release it, since I've put so much time into it and won't really be able to change how damage works unless I rewrite the d_item file. Also, just an update on development progress: the main game is complete and I'm working on the extra dungeon and post game content. Also, a lot more of the BGM is in MP3 format now, which means it's higher quality, but some of it is louder than the midi versions. When each of your characters level up, their stats will go up, allowing the player to decide whether they want to grind or just continue the story, grinding isn't a huge thing right now unless you want to 3 or 4 shot boosses. Well, all boosses accept Leefox. His 8 6 7 5 3 O 9 attack still hurts! Since college is starting for me now, expect to see it released befor December. On iPhone I used to use a program called ubidisk or easy push that let you transfer files via bluetooth or wifi if your pc and ios device were connected to the same network, but not sure if it's still around. On android it's as easy as dragging and dropping. I know apple used to be super strict about stuff like that but maybe things changed, or there is a third party solution. In old versions of the game, they went up when your characters leveled up. I'm thinking that's how I'll do it in this version. About characters:Garganchan wasn't doing damage because Text Game Maker has a set way that punches do damage. I think I'll add hammers or something that Garganchan can use. Yeh, Move was way too strong. He's supposed to be that way, but I will make him weaker if I power down the enemies. About boosses.Yes, the Behemoth is weak. I'll increase his damage, and maybe I should make critical hits ignore defense. Bombusect has way, way too much defense. I found that out when testing the game. I'll make it ultra weak to fire and lower it's HP. Tenshaino hits too hard because Earthquake is a magic attack and it's too strong. Actually, I finished the skills and settings and now have just the enemies and the game itself to go. The story? I'll just say it this way. I'm a weird person. I use my immagination too much. And I did say the story was stupid to some people, rite? I'll remove the whole Chris Pine thing at the beginning, but I won't tell who Leefox is. The phone calls and 8 6 7 5 3 O 9 bombs, I'm keeping that in. The game just isn't ment to make sense. It's also been changed from "Pine Attack" to just "The Blank Game2". The only time she took anything else in my game was in the basement. Fix that please. I felt really bored because it was only a matter of time before I killed pretty much everything.Move needs to be powered down. I mean, way powered down. I hit Tensheino once and he died. Same thing with the enemies swarm. Sierra and move just use the skill that translates to deadline when they use it and all enemies die. Power the damn thing down.Garganchan is useless. He takes way too much damage, even with the best armour in the game. Like I said, the basement fight was more difficult because it was 3 on 1, and you don't do a lot of damage to Mondival or the insect. One hit on garganchan and he's dead. Also, consider removing a second bomb from mondival's inventory. It hits for crazy amounts of damage, and there isn't a way to reduce it.Consider lowering cashcash. I love money, but by mysteries of the ancients I had at least 5000 of it, which meant I could by the strongest armor for everyone, which isn't an issue, but I should at least have to work for it. Just my thoughts. I don't think raising the prices is a good idea, simply because those are more trickier to balance out.Add a way to see how long we have till our profficiancy levels go up. Half the time I wondered when would my sword level increase because I was moving through the game too fast.The boss in the electric dungeon (I can't remember it's name, something to do with power) should be buffed in it's damage department. It did 1 damage to Sierra even when he got a crit (I'm assuming that leafox is the message for the crit for the enemy).Make everyone do at least 1 damage. It's really sad when I have to listen to a skill sound only for it to do jack shit.Possibly add in a way to skip skill sounds.Buff Garganchan by a bit... He did 1 damage to quite a large number of bosses, until I picked up the iron bar.Make the enemies grow stronger slightly faster. I was math 8 and a math 11 enemy could only hit me for 1 damage.Make the iron bar a hair less powerful. While it was great to see solid 400 to 700 damage it also broke the game.That's it, and I'm all for re-writing the thing, if only for the amusing story you've started. I've seen it do some weird things, and as a rule I'm not a fan of it, but I have never seen it just remove personal files. All of that being said, this is why I am very, very much a fan of backups. If you know Japanese, you can make games with it. Evrything has to be written in correct Japanese, so you can't just use a translator. The game is supposed to be unresponsive when playing long files, that's just how Text Game Maker works. I've gotten as far as mysteries of the ancients at which point the game dies when interacting with a box. Clever reference to Jenny in 8 6 7 5 3 0 9 song, too. I actually looked up the lyrics to that one. The quizes were, annoying but I am happy to say that they're not trolling the player for the most part. The hardest boss was in the basement, and that's do to the Garganchan promptly screwing off. Garganchan is kind of a one-trip pony. I.e, he hits hard, but also gets hit really hard. Most of the time he's useless, and I manage to pull through with Sierra solo or Move helping out, man his attacks are insane.I do wonder, how did you create the game? If it offers this much customization, I may be willing to learn it, just for kicks.I've also noticed that the game goes unresponsive when playing large files, like any of the telephone calls or the Jenny Ford workout file, do you have those issues, too? Another problem you might be having is that your non-unicode programs aren't set to desplay Japanese correctly. If you fix this, you'll be able to translate and play other Japanese games. To set the non-unicode programs, do the following:1: go to settings and search language. 2: choose language and region.3: make sure you have the Japanese keyboard. If you don't, add that by choosing add language. 4: after adding the keyboard, choose administrative settings and then change system locale to Japanese. 5: once your computer is done restarting, you'll be able to press alt shift to switch between English and Japanese. When you open Pine Attack or The Blank Game, press alt shift. You'll be in Japanese keyboard, and now actual Japanese will be coppyed to the clipboard so you can translate things. You'll continue to be in Japanese keyboard until you press alt shift to switch back to english. Be sure to follow all these steps, and do not! Change the desplay language! If you don't have a way to translate Japanese or don't know it, it's still playable. Almost all the items that should work correctly are in English. All the items that look like skills were supposed to be skills, but they don't work so don't bother with them. You can equip them, but they'll act like hammers because that's how they were in Alternative Magic, wich is a Japanese game. Also, when you enter the sleep places, you might get a private action which is a conversation between the characters. I'm only letting you know of this because only some of them are in english. The following are in english: Milltown, Pamboo, Small Village, Exponents, Math Place. All the others are in Japanese so just skip them, and they don't relate to the game. Also, another thing you'll want to know is about the orbes. Their are orbes in the game that you can attack once and they'll be gone. In Alternative Magic, the orbes were supposed to stop you from progressing until you got the propper spell to destroy them. So, when I make the orbes so you could just attack them, only now did I realize that players could miss a whole bunch of the story. So, here is the list of events ware orbes shouldn't be destroyed until other times. Between Exponents and Math Place: first, you will need to go to the side road between Pamboo and the Small Village, and do math to get light type magic.Math Place: first, go to the ruins, beat the boss, then go to the main street after beating it. You can then destroy the orbe at the entrance of the Math Upgrade Cave. Entrance of Math Upgrade: do not! Destroy it until you've completed the ghost ship! The moonlight tower is in the place with the town houses. I think that's all of them. Just pay attention to the story. It tells you ware you're going next, so search around the towns before leaving! Some of what the people say is also in Japanese, but no one gives you any skills or items, or advances the story, so you don't need to talk to them. Well, accept Trump in Exponents. The addon is in the game's folder, press enter on japanese game fix, found in the folder ware you see the files data1 through 7, play, sound and evrything else. The instructions I gave you in the previous post explain how to lower the BGM. Press and hold f6 from anyware in the game, as long as it's not the main menu, the first one you find with play, load and close. If that doesn't work, go to settings by pressing Windows and I, then search for adjust system volume. Press alt tab until you find volume control, then tab until you hear your screen reader say volume for play or something. Press left to turn it up, or rite to turn it down. I think this just lowers the music. If you want to only lower the midi files and have Cool Soft Vertual Midi Synth, press control alt m from anyware in the game and press and hold down arrow once the adjust volume program opens. I know this lowers just the music. If it's midi files and you have Cool Soft Vertual Midi Synth, press control alt M and down arrow until it's low enough, then press alt f4 to close the program. The volume control works for both MP3 and Midi. To get to the volume control, press Windows I, then type adjust system volume. As of the current version of the game which might be the last, it's very short and will probably take you only 2 or 3 ours to beat so don't expect much. I once had a finished version of the game, if I ever get that again, I'll put it here. I did a windows update, and my entire Downloads folder got deleted, including the source. I do have some of it, but not enough to keep the game going. The most recent backup was right before the Palador Hideout, and I had just finished the game and was ready to test and upload before the Windows update happened. The beta that's on Dropbox is their but unless their's a program that can decompile data from Text Game Maker, the game, after all this time, has stopped development. If I do end up redoing it, does anyone know of a program that can convert .wav to .mp3 that's accessible? The phone calls and some other audio conversations between Leefox and Banyardan were pretty big, so they probably should be converted to save space. If you've played that one before, you won't get much out of the first Blank Game. I wasn't saying that people wer'nt playing this game, I just know that this type of game (japanese or english) isn't played by a lot of people. You will be able to get to White Lance now. As I said, the bug with Trump's puzzle and some attacks have been fixed. The only attack that I can't fix now is Thunder Bolt, witch hits like 7 times. You will get your second character, already added that. When you get that person, you will see a lot more of the story. Look back here on this post at 1 or 2 PM and it should be downloadable. Oh, and it's going to have to be shift enter for the people who don't have the addon because the link for it doesn't work. It's supposed to make a beeping sound and either say something or get you to another menu. Are you talking about the main menu with play, load and close? Press enter on play. It takes some time to start the game, but then you will hear NVDA say the first message. You just have to keep pressing enter to read messages, or up and down arrows to repeat them. If you have a clipboard reader, it will read them automatically witch is much easier. The only thing you'll need the Japanese keyboard for is battle, witch isn't in english yet. To translate weapons, items, shop menus and skills, press NVDA and numpad 5 3 times wen focused on the thing you want in english to copy it to the clipboard then press the translate command on whatever you're using to translate to english. If you mean for story purposes, The Blank Game 1 is almost like Alternative Magic, so if you played Alternative Magic a lot, don't play the Blank Game 1 unless you want to play it. This is only a beta version, of the Blank Game 2, so you won't get that much out of it until I release version 0.2. I'm currently working on what comes before the third dungeon and after the second. And befor you ask, Shadow Rine is a game made by Galaxy Laboratory witch is another company and has nothing to do with me. To math means to make something love math and not be able to be controled. So Aria from Shadow Rine decides to go on an adventure and stop Boy and Girl. More information on the game is in the documentation.
