Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

@103 Ah, totally didn't get that and it makes a lot more sense. I do completely agree that the other volumes were far louder than they needed to be with the other sounds quieter. I dropped collision, fragment and explosion sounds to compensate, but if I need to drop them more then I will. I do think they're important since they give clues to where you might get a few lucky distant hits in, so I really don't want to remove them entirely from the distant soundscape. But if you're on some insanely high wave then I can easily see how they become the thing that is overwhelming. With any luck, you won't get to such a high wave now. And if you do, I'd rather drop the volume a bit more and see if that helps. But, realistically, this isn't the kind of game you should have 2-3 hour runs on unless you're just an absolute pro, so I think this is more a balance issue and less that this mechanic should go. But we'll see--I'm open to being convinced. Thanks for the feedback--very appreciated!

This looks great and I'm looking forward to trying the new version. To clarify one thing, I wasn't referring to the collision alarm, I was referring to the bang when two asteroids bump into each other. The collision alarm is fine as is.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

This is the biggest post-release patch yet, so I'm posting the changelog here. If you haven't downloaded updates in a while, now might be a good time to do so. I'm not going to edit the Markdown, so apologies if this forum makes a mess of it.Release notes for version 21.01.14.1821Changes:* Fragmented asteroids sometimes got a speed of 0 and never moved. This is now fixed. Asteroid fragments should all move, rather than sitting around waiting to be picked off.* _Silence distant asteroids_ is now enabled by default. If there are no complaints, the setting will vanish in the next release. Note that if you've previously disabled this setting, you'll have to re-enable it to use the feature.* Various sound levels were tweaked to account for the fact that the game is now quieter with _Silence distant asteroids_ defaulted to on.* Asteroids now move slightly faster in subsequent waves. Hopefully this causes a shift in strategy over time. Initially, it is generally safe to pick asteroids off only when they're close, but on higher levels, you have less and less time to react and need to rely on hunting or focus modes.* The tutorial was updated to mention the new silent asteroids default. Documentation updates to come soon, assuming this new default sticks.* Restarting the tutorial from the pause menu should now actually, well, restart the tutorial. Previously, it behaved like resuming.* Previously, tutorial asteroids all started from the same positions. Now, positions are randomized where it makes sense (I.e. the later tutorial stages.)To follow up on previous discussions here:* I decided not to make collision alerts obey the _Silence distant asteroids_ setting just yet because the a) speed boost and b) bug I fixed where fragments had 0 speed might substantially change the balance. As such, I didn't want to risk either taking away a valuable tool, or making a change that won't really matter until players reach waves that previously were easy but now aren't. I'm willing to reconsider, but let's let this batch of changes settle before continuing to shake things up.* I'm willing to introduce saucer steering and potentially remove the speed boost if it's too much of a challenge, but that's some fairly complex code to write and debug. Massive multi-hour games are meant to be the exception, not the norm, and shooting saucers also changes balance. The fact that they aren't smart enough to survive long also exposes another strategy--pick off enough asteroids so that saucers are more likely to survive, wait for them to spawn, and hunt them to mine points. I want to see what these changes cause before writing complex AI steering code.Enjoy.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

That could work, but I'm not sure how effective it would be. On the later waves the environment was so saturated that almost anything that wasn't right next to me got bumped off course by another asteroid before it became a real danger. What I think would make things more interesting would be to make saucers spawn more frequently and be better at dodging/surviving asteroids. I think during my game more saucers spawned only to immediately hit an asteroid than I actually killed.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Fair, but easy access to lots of targets also means easy access to lots of points and extra lives. I think cutting the asteroid audible range down is definitely the right move, and your point about the collisions themselves becoming overwhelming is valid. But I think I also need to add a counter-balancing element so games don't go on infinitely.Previously, asteroids moved faster as waves increased, though the speed ramp-up had a wide range and seemed less predictable than it was. I may introduce a slightly higher speed per wave, so even if targets in the immediate area are less overwhelming, you have less and less time to react to them as the wave increases. Thoughts?

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Once you get 80 targets on a level, the collision sounds drown out anything else except the alarm. At that point it doesn't really add to the difficulty, it just becomes headache inducing. I think at that point there would be plenty of collisions from the asteroids in range for difficulty purposes.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Thanks for the feedback. I'll give making colliding asteroids obey the setting some thought. Right now colliding and focused asteroids are zoomed (I.e. have their audio unpaused and their volumes amplified.) To some extent, high waves being overwhelming is part of what makes the game a bit more difficult, because otherwise, what would make wave 25 harder than wave 5? But I'm open to perspectives, so convince me. And congrats on the high score! A 3-hour run is amazing!

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

So I just finished a nearly three hour game with a final score of 624730. The biggest issue I noticed was that the asteroid collisions need to obey the hide distant asteroids setting. Once the waves get into the mid 20s, the early part of the wave is just a wall of collision sounds. I'd also like to see the different asteroid sizes have different pitches. I suggest pitching the small asteroids up slightly, and the large ones down. Otherwise, it's a really fun game. Good work.

Cool, be sure to check out the "Silence distant asteroids" setting, first in the settings menu. I'll probably switch that on by default next week, then do away with it entirely in another week or so if no one complains. SO in all likelihood, that'll be how the game behaves going forward.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

I'm honestly not sure I'll keep going with Godot. It gets us 95% or so to where we want to be, but that remaining 5% is something sighted gamers don't miss but we as blind gamers do.I.e. right now I'm hitting issues where a) controllers sometimes don't work on Android b) the controller button mappings are weird and c) some keycodes on Android are off. I imagine most sighted developers just want a game running on mobile period. They don't care if the keybindings don't map up because no one is using keyboards on mobile. But if we as blind players want control schemes more complex than A Blind Legend, we're probably going to need controller or keyboard support on Android and iOS. And I'm not super keen to dive into the engine sources to investigate and finish that off.Fortunately, I'm eyeing a Rust engine with Android/iOS/desktop support that should give me all the flexibility I'll need, and will soon have an editor so I can potentially work with developers/designers needing a graphical editor environment. If Godot gets its act together re: mobile keyboard/controller support then I might invest more effort in it. And I think it's a good tool to have in the box regardless, but my next title won't use it.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Hey folks,I wanted to give everyone a heads-up that I've been reading your feedback and watching streams when I can. To that end, I know Onslaught is loud and overwhelming, particularly as you level up. To some extent, there isn't much I can do about this, but I'm trying. To that end, version 21.01.04.1738 has an experimental setting to silence asteroids more than roughly a quarter screen away. This doesn't change focus modes, nor does it silence asteroids that are colliding with you. This can't completely eliminate overwhelmingness, but I played a few rounds on wave 12, and had moments with 30 asteroids active but none audible because they were all jammed up near the edge of the field.I also reduced bullets' base speed by 25%. This means that they cover less distance, but because a bullet's speed is their base plus the ship's speed, moving makes them travel further. Hopefully this incentivizes hunting, and makes it a bit more difficult to stay in one place. You can certainly still spray-and-pray, but that strategy has risks too, like fragmenting asteroids that are close by when you don't intend to.Please try out the new setting. If it is an improvement, I want to remove it, make it the default, and work it into the docs and tutorial. Thanks everyone!

Probably not, sorry. I generally push updates pretty often once I'm happy with a fix, and anything that adds friction to that process lessens the likelihood that I'll cut a release. Besides, my hands are already pretty full with the 3-4 projects I maintain just for Onslaught, to say nothing of the Rust crates I'm creating for my next game.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Just for Onslaught. I have a ton of automation running behind the scenes. I make a devlog post on Itch and it gets blasted out to Discord/the mailing list. Also, Itch supports Markdown and this forum doesn't, so there's a time cost to translating my release notes to BBCode. I'll still post new projects here, but I'd rather redirect interested readers to my own communities/resources for updates.

@nolan just out of curiosity, why might it be the last release announcement you're posting to the forum, are ou just referring to onslaught or are you referring to other games as well? If Onslaught, that kind of makes sense because as you've said, there's a devlog, so I could see why you might not just keep posting here for little fixes.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Just pushed a new version with the following changelog:Changes in this version:Speech on Android now works. For best results, disable your screen reader. Note that you'll need a keyboard or controller to play on mobile.Hopefully fix lockups when spawning higher waves.Saucers are now larger. Large saucers are now 45 pixels in diameter (previously 30), while small saucers are 22 (previously 15.)In the tutorial, mention that targets can be outside of weapon range, so you may need to approach even if they're centered.Added some defensive code to lessen, or hopefully eliminate, infinite snapping to given directions. I'm having a hard time reliably duplicating this, so fixing it is tough.Known issues:On Android, the "Please turn off your screen reader to continue" message may not be spoken, or may be cut off. This will be fixed if the Android version proves viable.Barring any egregious bugs, this is likely the last release of the year. Also, this is probably the last release announcement I'll post to the forum. See the devlog, mailing list, or Discord for the latest. If you'd like help keeping the game updated, check out the Itch app which does this automatically. That last bit is particularly important. If you're streaming or reviewing, please make sure you have the latest copy, as I've pushed several fixes already and have been responsive to feedback. Thanks, and happy holidays!

My mistake, I was thinking of a different game called Star Destroyer. Though I can't seem to find any mention of it on the web, save for one entry that doesn't provide a description. I might be misremembering the title. You flew a space ship in a top down POV. You could fly in 8 different directions, and had to shoot at these base looking things that had pods or something around them. occasionally you had to shoot down patrol ships or something that came in to view. Every time I search for star destroyer a bunch of starwars stuff comes up, so IDK.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

I just had my wife check both the arcade and Atari 2600 versions of the game. In the arcade version, they move diagonally in both directions. As you shoot them, they get smaller, and some of them can go off at another angle, the smaller pieces that is. She says the Atari versions move straight up and down and when they get to the bottom or top of the screen, they shift over to the left, getting closer to you. They too break up into smaller asteroids. She said at least the Atari player was pretty much sitting still and turning and shooting. I think the arcade player moved to chase the saucer.I literally sent her videos of both games so she didn't have to rely on old memories of play, but she said that yes they move, and she didn't need videos to tell me that. But like I said, I had her verify, just to be absolutely sure. So yes, this really is a pretty faithful clone of asteroids. That's awesome because I used to play it without being able to know what was going on, I've never seen anything. So it's pretty cool to have a working version. I for one would dig more old school video game clones. IMO there is nothing wrong with a simple straightforward game. If you want games with powerups and twelve kinds of teleportation, you have other options.

In the old game, im pretty certain it moves. In fact, when an asteroid goes off screen, it loops around to come at you from the other direction. When you destroy an asteroid, it becomes split into smaller asteroids, so you have to be careful to not surround yourself with debris. I guess it is possible to clear a wave without destroying an asteroid also, but I never managed it.

It's a fun experience for the first couple times through. I got to wave 12 with  a score of 47430. However, I found that flying around is pretty hazardous, and stuck to one corner of the map, since the asteroids and enemies seem to not be able to get at you there very often. It might be a bit nicer if there were power ups scattered around the map that let you fire faster, or let you fire multi directional bullets. There's not much point to flying around except to evade enemies, and even then, you're more likely to smash into an asteroid than anything when there are so many on the field.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

I got to wave 12. 64 thousand and something, still haven't figured out how to copy the score dialogue at the end. Here's my strategy, for what it's worth.I generally stay in one place, unless I feel like I need to move to get closer to an asteroid, e.g. a small one toward the end of a wave. I try to focus on segments of the field with a lot of activity and turn within them as little as possible, think lining up the single asteroid in the tutorial. Then if the field changes, I turn to a new more active segment. This is opposed to just constantly turning in a circle, which was what I was trying before when the field got really crowded.I usually have snipe mode on. If you're getting a collision alarm, try to center the alarm, that usually takes care of that asteroid. That's hard to do on higher waves, in the final wave I literally had it happen where I get a single beep of the alarm before immediately getting hit, there were a lot of asteroids flying around. If I have a lot of small ones at the end of the wave, I'll sometimes try brawl mode, but I still haven't figured out if that makes them easier to hit or not.Hey, is there a way to buy the game for another person? I guess you could just buy it again and send them the download link, but I notice it fills your email in, at least it did mine, probably because I used Pay Pal. So it would be tied to my email again, not whomever I'm buying it for, I think anyway.

OK, so sounds like the spawner may be getting stuck on higher waves, vs. a speech queuing or some other issue. I've actually never gotten to wave 11, though I haven't played game after game after game--I usually stop to fix a few things between runs and get distracted. Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Do you remember which wave? Asteroids spawn around borders, and try to insert enough space between each other so they don't appear inside one another. If it was a higher wave, it's possible that the spawner got stuck in a loop and couldn't spawn every asteroid for the wave without one colliding. I'll spend some time optimizing that code just in case. It shouldn't fail outright, but maybe it got stuck.

@sightless Thanks for the feedback. The next version tweaks the sizes of the saucers. Hopefully that should help a bit. I'm going to try fixing the Android speech issues, and cut a new release on Monday. To those of you experiencing game freezes:What operating system are you running? If on Windows, what speech system is being used? Your screen reader, or the system voice? Is there anything common to the freezes? Are they at the start of a wave, or just random? There are a few possibilities I'm thinking of, but I need to narrow things down a bit.Has anyone had the game fail to speak on macOS? I have one report of it not working. You know who you are, and you don't need to report here. But it works for me, and no one else has reported it, so I'm at a loss as to what's happening.@44 I appreciate and respect your caution. I probably won't do demos for my next few releases just because of the complexity they add to my process. Hopefully one day you'll have confidence in what I'm doing with Lights Out Games, and I know a few streamers already planning to do their own demos, so you'll have more Onslaught content soon.@42 The Start button pauses. I didn't mention it in the docs because I figured folks would just try it out. IME that's how most mainstream games do it, and in general I tried to make the control scheme mimic those. The game should be fully playable with only a controller, since if I launch on mobile, controller or keyboard will be the only schemes I can support.

@zargonbr:1. They're improving the combat system in that game.2. What would you expect in a demo of this game? The tutorial? 1 wave?Honestly, due to the infinite level nature of this game a demo would pretty much reveal all the game would have to offer. Five bucks is a complete steal.

Is there a way to pause from the controller? I didn't see one in the controls reference. That would be really handy. You'd be surprised how easy it is to get pulled into one input source. My wife started talking to me and I had to think a minute before I was like, oh yeah I can put the controller down and hit escape!

@1Amazing work, really enjoying this as a sort of pick up and play game.  I've got to around wave 11 with 71360 as my highest score so far.My strategy is also relatively spray and pray, but that's partially because the smaller sorcers are so hard to hit.  Were they easier to connect with and didn't fire their bullets with such deadly precision that you can literally be spawn trapped into taking 3 in a row (source: had that happen to me earlier today) it wouldn't be as much of a problem.  Other than that the difficult seems good as is, so just a few tweaks should be all that's needed.

I've seen you and others bring this up in a few threads, and I haven't really dug into Steam because it's an accessibility PITA, and I can only imagine it's worse as a publisher.Which country are you in? Itch lets me use other payment gateways than PayPal, it just forces me to manage the taxes and such myself. I've done these types of taxes before, so that may be less of a PITA than is figuring out Steam. I just need to do the research into gateway support as it relates to your country. I know Itch supports Stripe, so if that works there then maybe I can switch to that. But I'll probably wait a month or two as to not complicate my current tax situation by adding 2020 self-employment tax to the pile this year has been already. Just a thing regarding steam.Steam has a gift card system. The gift cards are sold anywhere in the world, in the shopping malls, airports, phone/laptop stores, online digital stores and on the steam website itself.Because of this,  almost anyone can grab a gift card and charge their steam account and buy games with it.If i'm not mistaking though developers have to pay for their games to be listed on steam, i can be wrong about this, so this might not be  beneficial for you

@37 If you mean hyperjump, it does have that feature.I'd be interested in talking more with folks who can or have played Asteroids or good clones. I'm trying to recreate that experience in audio, warts and all. Not bug for bug, but if the original limits your strategic choices and is luck-based, then this version will be too. Onslaught was partly about creating a fun game, and partly about creating processes to use in future games. To that end, I don't want to sink a whole lot more time into adding new features or changing it much. The way to get a game with lots of strategic depth and complexity is to start from some premise other than Asteroids.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

I'm happy to tweak the difficulty if needed, but let's sit here for a while and see what consensus is.I want this to be an audio game for gamers, not an easy walk in the park. But I also don't want it to be so hard that no one can play it. Spray-and-pray should be a viable strategy, but not the only one, and there should be a reward for pursuing something with a bit more risk. Maybe I figure out how to detect it and spawn in more saucers so you have to move, we'll see.I'll probably do future titles as paid early access, so we can tweak difficulty before the full release. Balance is hard. Thanks for the feedback.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Am I the only one who finds this game super easy and partly luck based? If I move around, I die in 10 seconds, usually. So what I end up doing is staying in one spot, spraying and praying with no focus modes active. This works 99% of the time, and the only other thing I have to do besides turning and shooting is jumping away if a collision beep gets too close for comfort. That's a matter of luck since you can end up in a situation that's just as bad. After a few waves, that was the only way I was losing lives, jumping into bad spots. IMO, Dark Defender has a bit more challenge than this game. In DD, you can't mindlessly turn and shoot but as the waves carry on in this one, that's all you'll be doing. I like the concept though. Scoreboards in particular would be nice for this thing.

To folks reporting the broken speaker test:A fix is incoming. Should be live in a few, and if you've got the Itch app, it should automatically download. To those with snapping issues:I've experienced this as well, but I can't reliably replicate it. I have all sorts of defensive code to prevent it from happening, but apparently that isn't enough. I'll keep chipping away at it here.To those of you asking for a scoreboard:I'm open to it, but need to figure out a way to pull it off that doesn't have me hosting something. Right now my website is static via Netlify, and the game is on Itch. This may be a good use case for a Netlify Function, but I'd need to set it up in a way that couldn't be gamed (I.e. someone hits it with curl and posts a ridiculous high score.)@30 No demo, sorry.@27 What controller do you have? Under Windows, I can use my D-pad on an Xbox wireless controller to navigate the menus. A local high score sounds good, I'll pencil that in.@25 Any chance you could get a logcat? It speaks for me, but again, alpha. I need to figure out if anyone has integrated some sort of crash monitoring service with Godot.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Just tried it, and I really want to get into this. At first It hought it was going to be like Dark Defender or Villians from Beyond, both of which I'm okay at. Not great, but I can usually get to average levels in both games. But I'm having trouble getting the hang of this one.First a few weird things I've noticed:The speaker test sounds like it's playing in the left speaker, and instead of going to the right, it goes to center. Not a big deal but still. When turning, the degrees seem to be going in a really weird direction. East is 0 degrees, south is 270 degrees, west is 180 and north is 90. It's a bit confusing for me. I'm guessing east is 0 degrees, then all the measurements from that point are to the left of that i.e. if you're facing north, you're 90 degrees left of east. It throws me off, but now that I've thought about it as I wrote this, I imagine it makes sense, I just have to figure out how to think of it. Am I on the right track?Snapping to a direction doesn't seem to put you on a straight coarse sometimes. Maybe this is intentional though. On the second or third tutorial stage, the game warns me that an asteroid is on a collision course with me, but it doesn't seem to hit me unless I drive into its trajectory. Not sure if I was stupidly misled or what.I'm having trouble dealing with 2 or 3 targets on screen at a time. I guess I'm not used to essentially hearing the whole field, though the filtering on distant sounds is a nice touch. I haven't quite gotten the hang of the different focus modes. I did get pretty successful at the tutorial though by standing in one place and pivoting and shooting the asteroids down. Not sure if that's a good strategy or not, but it seemed to work.I don't even want to get into saucer land. At present they sound like their bullets in particular move way too fast for me to avoid, not until I get better anyway.I'm not criticizing. Just having a bit of trouble working out the rhythm of this one. If anyone has tips, I'd greatly appreciate them!

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Just bought this, really fun game! I got a controller for another game and it's really cool to have a space shooter to use with one. A couple quick suggestions:1. A way to move through the menus with the controller? Maybe there is one and I'm just missing it. I got plunged right into the game because I didn't realize the tutorial was another option in a menu, so I just hit 'A' on my controller and started. I think it would be nice to be able to do everything right from the controller, instead of having to go over to the keyboard.2. A local high score? I have no idea what my score was, and it would be nice to be able to look it up. I don't really care about other people's scores or anything, or even a list of scores. Just whatever the high score is, or possibly last game's score and over all high score. This is a really nice old school video game. I'm going to have a lot of fun with it. Thanks for the excellent work.

Ashley I think it only works with an external keyboard or controller so far, that's probably the issue.A scoreboard would be neat yeah.  The easiest way seems to be just submitting the scores to a database connected to a webpage and having people view that instead of making a scoreboard UI in game.Maybe something about those .dll files for older systems should be added to a note on the itch page.

@17 Crap, sorry. I use whatever video drivers Godot supports as a baseline. If that isn't whatever you're using, I'm sorry. Please feel free to ask Itch to refund your purchase and I won't dispute it. Sorry, as a blind audio gamer myself, I'm familiar with game engine requirements driving innovation. But if you want to help out, here are some things that you could do:I've been unable to run my game in a VM without a valid openg32.dll. Here is where I've found one:https://fdossena.com/?p=mesa/index.frag Note that I'm only building Onslaught for 64-bit, so 32-bit isn't supported.I've recently switched to Windows as my primary development platform, but I think I've previously run in a VM with the DLLs from the above link. I'd be very happy if you're willing to help me debug this. I don't necessarily want to ship the Mesa DLLs in the binary since that might degrade performance on newer systems,

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

If it genuinely solves a problem for folks if I uploaded to Steam, then I'll certainly look into it. I just went with Itch because from a user's perspective it is accessible, and from a developer's, they've made publishing games stupid easy. I just published an Onslaught patch based on some Discord feedback in a few minutes, actually.

oh! I am really sorry, I thought you are a sighted developer that hears about steam being inaccessible and choose to host the game somewhere, my bad, oops, should've pay more atention. never mine about steam then, I'll see what I can do with my paypal account.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

@12 This is made with Godot.@13 OK, so what you're saying is that you can pay with Paypal, and since Steam supports Paypal, that's why you'd like me to use it? I'll look into what it'd take to add Steam publishing to my processes, though it may be next year before I get to it. FWIW, I do have Steam set up here, but still find it inaccessible in a lot of ways. It works well enough for installing and running games, but I still can't figure out what gods I have to sacrifice to in order to tweak my general Steam settings on my PC. I can do it through Android, sort of. But as a blind developer, if you give me the choice of a mostly accessible platform, vs. one that is hit-or-miss, I'm going to pick the mostly accessible platform every time. I'll see how hard it is as a blind developer to publish games to Steam.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

not really sure about payment gateway honestly. I do have a paypal account though, yes, and I think it has been verified. the difficult part is more into the process of adding balance there. on my country, to have a credit card you need to work somewhere with stable income. there is an alternative to adding paypal balance though, but it requires me to setup virtual wallet thingy, transfer some money there, and find a merchant that can exchange the balance on that virtual wallet to paypal balance. also let's not talk about the fee and taxs to do that.as for steam, seriously, someone should stop sharing that thing isn't accessible, haha, yes, ok you need to set things up at first, but other than that it's all fine. as why I would fine steam is easyer is that because my phone provider has a feature that allows me to exchange phone balance to steam wallet.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Oh, and Tab announces the stats of whatever asteroid is in your crosshairs. I added it on a whim, but you don't normally know that an asteroid is targeted unless you shoot it, in which case you're not pressing Tab. So it ended up having very little utility, but I left it in anyway. Happy to repurpose it, or to flesh it out if folks can think of a way to make that mechanic useful. Otherwise it'll just hang around.

Actually, on a rerun of the game, it seems to be perfectly fine now on both accounts. I have no idea what could've caused either issue, though.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

@7 No, it's my attempt at an audio Asteroids clone, which was from a time before achievements and such. Just trying to keep it simple. Future titles will be more complex, but releasing an audio game on 3 platforms, with 3 more possibly to come, is pretty tough as a solo developer.@8 Sounds like a bug. You may be spinning infinitely. Is your computer older? Does that always happen for you? Having an older/slower computer is the only circumstance I can think of where that might happen, but I'll see if I can force it to trigger and come up with a fix.

Re: Onslaught, Audio Asteroids, released for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Actually... a couple small things. What's the tab key supposed to do? It doesn't seem to actually achieve anything at the moment. Also, when you use the snapp keys, what seems to result is a never ending flood of the direction you just turned to from the screen reader, though thankfully if you press left or right, it stops. I'm using NVDA, if that matters.
