I liked sc4. although I still haven't finished that damn tower of lost souls yet. Still stuck on that second last floor. The only thing I found a bit strange with sc4 was the star wars guest characters. I guess they were kind of a neat idea but it just felt... unnatural.

Re: Any Soul Calibour II players out there?

In 3 we had talking cutscene for the first time, the main campaign had multiple paths, secret boss fights and endings for each character, and a second lengthy campaign you could play with your created character that played like a semi rts, and I beat it all with little help. There was even a simulated tournament mode to make up for the lack of online. Namco went way out of their way with this one, which is why I think everything between 3 and 6 felt underwhelming to me, with 5 being my least favorite and 4 being up there with 1 and 2, andvthe PSP game being between 5 and the first two and four. We haven't seen the likes of this type of offline content since, although 6 definitely comes close.

3 was pretty good. A little slower than 2, and there were more than a couple of overpowered moves and characters. But it was still quite enjoyable for sure. I thik the only game I haven't honestly enjoyed much was SC 4.

Re: Any Soul Calibour II players out there?

Used to play SC2 all the time. Was actually pretty dangerous with Talim, Ivy and Kilik, and had a really, really cheesy combo with Rafael involving forward+triangle (on PS2). I was never going to win any tournaments or anything, but I wasn't bad. Good enough, anyway, that I could beat most of my sighted friends. Always wanted to get good with Voldo, as he plays at angles that are really tricky to predict (falls to the ground and attacks from there, crouches and hunches and presents a weird target). Playing against a really good Voldo character is extremely annoying.

Re: Any Soul Calibour II players out there?

Hi,@Dark, thanks for that, I actually found this FAQ already and it's realy helpfull.Regarding maps and dungeons, I pretty much try out which directions work when I unlock a new stage on the map, and when highliting a stage, OCR actually tells me where I am, so that's no problem. And in dungeons, I just follow the path and try out every direction after I won a fight. Fortunately, the dungeon maps are not that complicated. The only problem is when I find the boss before I tried every other path, but in that case I just let the boss beat me and try the other directions.

There is a really good gamefaqs faq on Sc2, which even describes the characters, stages and loading screens and gives pretty complete information, it let me  pretty much finish the entire game, though I confess that the weapon master and dungeon maps would be difficult without being able to see the menu highlighting.Anyway you can Find it here hth.

I love the openings to sc2 and 3.  Impossible not to get hyped to play every single time.  I'm playing the gamecube version though, as actually being able to play as Link is just too fun to pass up.  Plus his remixed theme is fantastic.  Mostly though I play nightmare, Raphael while dabbling with a few others.  2, 3 and 6 are absolute blasts to play.  Each character is so different so playing always feels fresh.  Just like killer instinct.

Hi,yeah, I actually thought about Sonifight being able to help there, but the emulator makes it slightly more difficult it seems. But for now I found out which charakter is which by the method suggested here. But if you get Sonifight to work with emulators some day, this would be a cool game to make a config for, actually. At least, I really like the game.

Re: Any Soul Calibour II players out there?

Kelik and song mina play similarly but not quite the same, but they are my favorite when it comes to well rounded with decent speed and reach. If it's pure power I want, then I take nightmare. Talem is my favorite new characters because of her swiftness and combo possibilities. Suffice it to say that although vertical, horizontal, kick and guard buttons are the same across the roster, the fighting style for each character is very different.

It makes very little difference whitch character you play as, because the controls are the same for their moves regardless of witch character you have.  It all comes down to whose voice you like to hear.

Re: Any Soul Calibour II players out there?

Tikki, this is something SoniFight could help with. The selected character could likely be identified by their numerical value just like in Street Fighter 4. Like maybe Kilik would be 0, Taki would be 1, Raphael would be 2 etc.I don't know the character indices, but it's do-able.The problem, however, is with a constantly changing emulator version where memory offsets may change - which is why I haven't written configs for emulators yet. I really want to find a solid mechanism to identify the start of the emulated system memory so I can offset from that, rather than the emulator base address from which the system memory address will vary (if that makes sense).

I can't help with the others, but character selection can be figured out. Simply select two characters in vs mode and beat one of them to figure out who you are playing with. Actually, this works for both as you will be told who you are fighting, along with who wins.
