Greetings guys.Reviving the topic to say that today there was an update for Unspoken that lets you quickly toggle it with Ctrl shift U, though this gesture can of course be changed from NVDA's input gestures dialog. When it's off, of course you get no sounds and control names are announced as before. The useful thing here is that this works with configuration profiles, so by combining this you can make Unspoken not work in certain applications. Re: Does anyone have a good audio theme for nvda? I've been using NVDA without sounds as soon as they switched to Python 3 and unspoken stopped working, and it's certainly not a problem. It's something that if I can have working properly, I'll enjoy, but if not, not a big deal. I'm also on the alpha and can't say I am experiencing many issues with the build of Unspoken I posted. The sounds aren't really necessary for me though, I've been using NVDA for 11 years without them, so, it's not that much of a loss. Though this is not necessarily unexpected since I am on the alpha snapshots. You can change the active theme by going to NVDA>Preferences>Settings>Audio Themes and selecting from the combobox. Just click add, locate the theme, and click it to add it to the combobox. It's worked on a Windows 7 machine with just 8GB of RAM, I think that's just the minimum required for not even AAA gaming. Granted, Unspoken works marginally faster on my machine, though that gap will probably increase as machine specs start to lower. Oh, and I'm pretty sure you could replace the sounds if you *really* wanted, by just editing the files in the add-on directory. Unspoken and anything else works perfectly fine with no stuttering under 4 Gb of ram. If it's an NVDA addon, it should either follow NVDA's own requirements, or it should list anything specific people should keep in mind when running it. I know only that Unspoken does not lag, but as for why people use this, if it's efficient, it is much faster hearing a quick sound than button, checkbox, link and so on. You hear it at the same time as speech, so while it's reading a control, you already know what it is. In fact, in familiar contexts and situations, you can accomplish a lot even without listening to speech and just based on the sounds.
