Re: Entombed has too many bugs It's not bug. If you take a bit of notice, it actually works.Fortune teller is one unique class that doesn't deal with overall level, but rather luck. That's why buffing yourself with luck is highly recommended. Read fortune gives you boost in combat if you're fortunate. If you're not, it does the opposite. But you may still be able to draw major arcana cards to hit, though the likelyhood of it hitting for high damage is lower. I never have issues getting the 1.05 version running, as the installer always downloads all components necessary. All I have to do is run the Microsoft SQL Server 3.5 Compact SP2 installers that the setup program downloads and extracts. Then again, I tend to do clean installs of Windows at least once a year, so maybe that has something to do with it. My only suggestions to ensure the game works properly are to ensure all the components are properly installed. This includes Windows Media Player.Does anyone know what the Fortune Teller's predict fortune ability does? It doesn't seem to do anything, but that might be because it's buggy. Re: Entombed has too many bugs When I run dxdiag it shows me the display and sound devices which I can access from device drivers but they along with dxwebsetup.exe tell me I have equivalent or better so that I can't update them. It also let's me know I have directx 12 but dx doesn't show up in the program manager list. And, if I try to remove the drivers I'm warned that the devices will stop functioning and I'm scared to mess up my pc.Is there a specific file that I need to reinstall from directx for 1.05b to work? Re: Entombed has too many bugs I never have trouble being repeatedly hit. Resting is your key man. Torso is the easiest to target, so they land there for the most part. On floor 1, remove your bloody branch and sling as soon as you can. Don't pick anything 6 points of damage or below. And odn't ever use that branch no matter what. Get a weapon before you fight the drake, at least. I manage to run with hands til the drake once...but had to find something shiny to beat it in the end. You may miss a chance to get legendary steel arrows or that healing potion you really, really need.And if you play necro and have no adventurer in your party, have adventurer corpse beside you until you can get locate secret scroll. Sometimes, a quest can be really easy and yield great rewards. Sometimes it can be really difficult and its rewards are crap. Also, beware of things like named imp necromancers or, lower down, things like named harpy assassins or named half-giant brawlers. They can really ruin your day, and they always seem to do crazy damage. Re: Entombed has too many bugs Jayde, actually, I use a slightly different stratigy. I always take all quests, regardless of how dangerous they are. You can always buy overpowered eq from the bazaar and use that to bulldoze your way through the game. I once found a legendary steel maul on the fifth floor, with 27 base damage. That was wild, as was the legendary ax I got from a quest with 32 base damage. Re: Entombed has too many bugs Human fighter-assassin: train up sneak attack and flurry and critical hits. Game over. Also, dual-wield and use those goblin king swords. They're not insane in late game, but should wreck early to mid game.Don't feel obligated to take quests every time you can, and don't settle for the first quests you find. When you're ready to take some quests, save the game right beforehand, load the quests, and if you get stuff you like, keep it; otherwise, reload and try again. You can get some named gear this way eventually, and it'll make your playthrough much easier. This makes sense, as they wouldn't be very useful since you're at the end of the game. The breathe fire ability appears to do more damage the larger the user is. Combine isn't worth learning as it creates a generic creature that has random bits of equipment. It's also very buggy if memory serves, so it's not worth it. The chance depends on the level of the observe skill.If the game says " learned subdivide!", you have it!Be avare that the clones you create this way will be controlled by the AI. Re: Entombed has too many bugs oh I like subdivide! but don't you need to be a dungeon creep to do that one though? lol Being a dungeon creep isn't funny. for my last entombed game I played, as well as that wolf that sticks with you, the trickster I was fighting, decided to charm him. then after he killed the minion who was with me, for I had him as a warrior necromancer, well he joined me on the 2nd floor as a warrior, and I chose necromancer for his 2nd class. and my wolf who was charmed by the trickster killed him, then he got resurrected as a dungeon creep. and it was ok him subdividing, then when the wolf was then finally freed from the trickster, she then killed him! and I must admit I had allot of healing to do, but to be killed in dungeon creep form, that is just not funny whatsoever. when I heard the game over music played I just put my hands over my eyes and just cried for I'd say about 2 minutes or so. oh my subdevide is good but not if you've been charmed. I still hope deep down Jason is working on the new version of the game. He released a new game based on entombed in 2015, and did several betas apparently, and from some people posting on the topic here, he had a private beta testing team as well. Also, wererats have lower stats as far as I know, so this was only a weakness.Fortune-teller is a job I never played much with for some reason.I think my favourite combo is something like a barbarian-brawler. Brawler-monk is also pretty good.On the other end of the spectrum, druid+necro is good, as is druid+mage or necro+mage.Fighter-assassins can straight-up wreck. Re: Entombed has too many bugs yeah, since so much of entombed is based on RNG, saving and loading is your friend. Also I found that the level of the reincarnate scroll you use does matter. I am pretty sure that you can reincarnate as any race you have encountered on or above the floor the scroll level is. For example if you are using a level 2 reincarnate you can reincarnate as a cave bat, goblin, kobold, ratkin or dungeon creep, but if you have a higher level one you might get luckier and reincarnate as a hobgoblin (level 6+) or an imp (level 9+) which is why you'd want the higher level ones, especially for something like your pet, since you can often power your pet way up. And that introduces another cool bug, AI controlled stuff can pick up and use weaoppns and armor they would normally not be able to. So a cool trick for your reincarnated pet is to drop something like a claymore or a great axe on to the ground during combat, and then watch them pick it up (this might take a turn or two but the picking up and wielding stuff chance is pretty high if they're already unarmed, a bit lower if they have one hand free). and then they have that tihng wielded, at least until they lose their hand. Re: Entombed has too many bugs It used to cause them to injure when they transformed from a wearrat into a ratkin. But that was fixed for quite a while I believe, since 1.2. I wish we could pplay as a lich and get all the lich abilities. As well as the stupidly powerful races like ettins and half giants. Seriously those giants are no joke, and I bet a properly raised one could take down an army. There were probably plans for full giants though, as you can find giant made armor.
