Re: Facebook and Twitter Windows clients
Re: Facebook and Twitter Windows clients Sadly, @17, every app that I know of nowadays meant for communication is going the way of the web interface. How long a piece of software like Miranda ng will continue to work for us is arguable, but I do believe the clock's ticking. Re: Facebook and Twitter Windows clients
Re: Facebook and Twitter Windows clients The reason why I use Miranda and not the site is because I don't want to keep the browser open all the time just to stay online. that's annoying. Re: Facebook and Twitter Windows clients
Re: Facebook and Twitter Windows clients 8, thanks, I completely forgot about that one.But to be fair, I think that one was someone's attempt at maintaining Qwitter when the developer decided to call it quits.@12, m.facebook.com is the same site you would get if you were to log on with a touch screen device, so any threads get updated in real time, which doesn't happen with the m.basic.site.I use a combination of both, depending on what I want to do.It's easier to poke someone with the basic mobile site for instance than using the touch site.Reading nested comments is also easier on the touch site, because it just adds it to the thread, where as on the basic site, they're on a separate page.Messaging is also easier on the touch site, because they get updated when messages come in, you don't get sound however. If you want sound, messenger.com is probably what you would use, but I can't seem to figure out how to start a conversation on that site, replying to an existing conversation isn't a problem because it's almost like chatting on those old messenger clients. Re: Facebook and Twitter Windows clients
Re: Facebook and Twitter Windows clients And that is why I shye away from social media nowadays. In all reality, it's not like I haven't seen this story play out enough times. Remember myspace? No? Everyone has myspace. that was all the hype from when I was growing up. And then there was, WELCOME! YOU'VE GOT MAIL! AOL chatrooms! IM! Messageboards! Profiles! How about SixDegrees.com? AmIHotorNot.com? Friendster? LinkedIn? Tumblr? Google Plus? See what I'm getting at here? It's all interchangeable! You go where the flow goes and that's the end of the story, if the numbers are what you're after rather than the relationships! It's all about the hype! What happened? They called it Meerkat, an app which spawned a copycat called Periscope! It revolutionized how we began seeing things and the standard was set for instant send and received. Livestreaming became the new normal, and here we are. Re: Facebook and Twitter Windows clients
Re: Facebook and Twitter Windows clients Twitter has all but disabled their API, that's why everyone stopped caring. For users that's less of a blow than it is for developers: what seems like slightly worse features takes a lot of work. Overall I wouldn't stay too attached to Twitter as a platform because I fully expect they're going to sunset the rest of it one of these days. Re: Facebook and Twitter Windows clients You've missed TheQube. At least for me I don't know, but since I get errors when logging to twitter that's a shame. Maybe development is stagnant for now I guess? Re: Facebook and Twitter Windows clients
Re: Facebook and Twitter Windows clients @manamon_player, Haha. No, no it's not. Sighted people would most likely disagree, isn't it a tad outdated in features? And the fact you can get errors in authenticating would give people reason to stay away as it doesn't seem to be very actively developed. Re: Facebook and Twitter Windows clients Until the next best thing comes along.First there was McTwit, then we had Qwitter, then Chicken Nugget, and now TW Blue.Oh and somewhere in between there was the Klango Twitter client.Any others I'm missing? You really don't need a facebook client for windows, unless you're, realy, really lazy. The m basic dot twitter dot com site should meet most of your needs.
