Re: Games which are quite good in your opinion but got less attention.

I am baffled as to why more people don't talk about the YuGiOh MUD on the forums.I get that it is a trading card game and everyone is not into that, but it is very extensive, it has decent sound packs for both mush and VIP.  On top of all that it gets updated frequently to the extent where we get access to the same content as the mainstream players at almost the same time they do.  This game has a steep learning curve, but it really pays off to learn it.New players are always welcom,  allinaccess.com 1234. Grab the mushclient Soundpack at https://github.com/Timtam/yugioh-soundpackJust in case anyone reading this does not know what YuGiOh is, its a card game that has a popular anime based on it.  gameplay involves building decks of cards with monsters, spells and traps.  You then use your deck to battle against an opponent.  Imagine crazy party battle mode but a lot more complicated and with thousands of different cards.

As for audio game jam games, it's subjective but, avoidance, the forest that lost it's voice, that crazy stairs game, and free falling, are all decent as well. The rest for as far as I can remember have problems that make them annoying to play even if they aren't bad.  Either way you could always check out Liam's playthroughs on his channel just to hear what they sound like, as some of them were kinda cool even if gameplay was buggy.

Wow, I hadn't heard of Escape Beat, but I'm really enjoying it. The Audio Game Jam stuff was on my list of games to check out, but I never got around to doing so for one reason or another, but now that I have I'm quite impressed. If it had been expanded a little more, I really think it would have made a much bigger splash in this community. Given that these games are basically prototypes, I can see why it wasn't, but I think it still would have gotten a lot more appreciation if it had been a fully developed game.

One game I thought always got sadly neglected was Zero sight by Shard workshop and its addon, extended operations. Want a detailed flight sim with random weather, lots of missions to do, including random tasks, the  chance to completely customize your plane as well as take on enemies in genuinely challenging combat? its even got a random mission mode too. Maybe its because the games are genuinely challenging, indeed you'll crash at take off and landing a good few times before getting everything right, though that just increases the satisfaction when you do see your enemies go boom!I played both Zero sight and its addon quite a bit back in 2012, but for some reason the games just fell off the map and everyone forgets about them, which is odd as they're still available, indeed I should install them on my Pc and give them another go. they are available here Enjoy!

for those who was wondering the name of the tetris game I was speaking of, defender said it, its called magic blocks. man I love that game. it is a puzzle game that you have to stack different types of blocks onto one another, it gets very challenging as you destroy more and more rows of blocks. see if you can make the leader board, I think I should still be up there somewhere

Re: Games which are quite good in your opinion but got less attention.

Actually audio game hub didn't get enough attention. I'm talking about the version that works on all windows versions. It has a game that I found really to my interest. The one that you have to pare boxes that contain animals. Audio archery and hunt were also cool. These are all in audio game hub the old versions. I like rhythm rage too and it's still downloadable from oriol's website just like his other titles. Audio rally racing might also be something interesting, Oh and cycle path. It was so popular when it got released but now I'm rarely hearing about it. It's so cool. Super mario brothers is also cool if you are into platforming games. The blood rain can also keep you amused for a while and is still downloadable from ch-games.ruIf you haven't tried altar aeon, Then do it. Even if you are not into MUDS this one is different. I remember I spent a lot of my time playing altar aeon and have cool memories of it. Since the game is so old and is under active development, so The activities you have, and the game world is extreamly huge. C A E Jones's red sword can also be cool if you are again into platforming and some action.

Great idea for a topic Pool! There's Escape Beat, which was an entry in Audio Game Jam two.  It's a solid game with a fun little story and and amusing narrator, which innovates in how it plays where as frankly, most of our own gameplay mechanics are getting pretty stale.Liam's Playthroughhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCt-bEmTaWQDownload Linkhttps://gamejolt.com/games/EscapeBeat/291088There is also Villains From Beyond which got some interest for a short time but never really got the attention it deserved in my opinion.I really think it's one of our better arcade titles, and holds it's own with genre mainstays like troopinum 2, Judgement Day, dark destroyer, and world of war, , but brings a lesser used play style and some more complicated mechanisms to the table.I think the 8bit atmosphere, and the somewhat steep learning curve (lots of things to remember and a complex soundscape) really through people off with this game, but once you get it, it all makes sense, and their is another (excellent) soundpack if you don't like the retro style. It's got some seriously fast paced, think on your feet action, and it's a real challenge as compared to many similar games. In my opinion, Sonic Invaders, which can be found on the archive right here is still worth playing even now.Not only does it have a unique setting, but it takes the overused space shooter genre and does some interesting things with it that we don't really see as much now, such as ships that can only be heard intermittently, or those that are very quiet and fast,.  It has all the more advanced ships we see now as well, shooters, warpers, diagonals, shield equipped ETC as well, but since it uses a system that was only really seen in one other short lived game that I know of, using almost the entire bottom row of keys for aiming rather than left and right arrows, it results in more of a challenge.  It also has a player activated shield system which really keeps you on your toes with blocking and countering, especially at higher levels.I just love the darkness of the story, the haunting violin music, how nearly every level is significantly different from the last, the creepy voiced lady who does the announcements, and that awesome shield sound.  Brings back memories of playing that game with my dad on big stereo speakers in the mid 2000s.And I second the suggestion for marina break by Nyanchen AKA Yukio.  It's got tons of modes, a good tutorial, and a physics system that's never been seen in an audio game before.  Just a fun little game in general and I'm surprised so many people forget about it.Same goes for preludimals, which was also mentioned.  It's a seriously top notch puzzle game with high quality sounds and allot of levels, but the concept is simple and the controls are good, so beginners can pick it up quite easily.  Plus, it's made by Aprone.Night of parasite Found Here on the audio games archive is an oldy but a goody, similar to treasure hunt with lots of fast paced action but some exploration as well, with an equipment system and a bit of a story.  It also comes with a well written guide, which really helps. My copy of Legacy can be found at this link and includes a cheat sheet, the PG13 Playthrough, and the radio drama. It's a somewhat clunky, mostly story driven puzzler and exploration game that won't be for everyone, but it's not bad over all and the sounds are pretty great; no wonder considering the BBC made it...river raiders by what used to be X-sight interactive, a not fully finished but still quite good little arcade game is worth mentioning as well.  You can find it over here.I'd also suggest trying out  the road of life, and dog who hates toast, and obsessive compulsive, but those aren't for everyone.imminent death, battle zone remake, parolis hearts, and bloodshed release the pain are all guilty pleasures of mine.Games that I personally want to get into more are dark defender (not the same thing as dark destroyer) Slenderman lost vision (kinda surprised that any audio isn't full of jumpscare recordings from that) audio strike, Jungle, danger on the wheel, magicblocks, and GMA Lander.

There's Escape Beat, which was an entry in Audio Game Jam two.  It's a solid game with a fun little story and and amusing narrator, which innovates in how it plays where as frankly, most of our own gameplay mechanics are getting pretty stale.Liam's Playthroughhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCt-bEmTaWQDownload Linkhttps://gamejolt.com/games/EscapeBeat/291088There is also Villains From Beyond which got some interest for a short time but never really got the attention it deserved in my opinion.I really think it's one of our better arcade titles, and holds it's own with genre mainstays like troopinum 2, Judgement Day, world of war, and superdeekout, but brings a lesser used play style and some more complicated mechanisms to the table.I think the 8bit atmosphere, and the somewhat complecated learning curve (lots of things to remember and a complicated soundscape) really through people off with this game, but once you get it, it all makes sense, and their is another (excellent) soundpack if you don't like the retro style. It has all the more advanced ships we see now as well, shooters, warpers, diagonals, shield equipped ETC as well, but since it uses a system that was only really seen in one other short lived game that I know of, using almost the entire bottom row of keys for aiming rather than left and right arrows which is more of a challenge.  It also has a player activated shield system which really keeps you on your toes with blocking and countering, especially at higher levels.I just love the darkness of the story, the haunting violin music, how nearly every level is significantly different from the last, the creepy voiced lady who does the announcements, and that awesome shield sound.  Brings back memories of playing that game with my dad on big stereo speakers in the mid 2010s.And I second the suggestion for marina break by Nyanchen AKA Yukio.  It's got tons of modes, a good tutorial, and a physics system that's never been seen in an audio game before.  Just a fun little game in general and I'm surprised so many people forget about it.Same goes for preludimals, which was also mentioned.  It's a seriously top notch puzzle game with great sounds and allot of levels, but the concept is simple and the controls are good, so beginners can pick it up quite easily.  Plus, it's made by Aprone.Night of parasite Found Here on the audio games archive is an oldy but a goody, similar to treasure hunt with lots of fast paced action but also some exploration, with an equipment system and a bit of a story.  It also comes with a well written guide, which really helps. My copy of Legacy can be found at this link and includes a cheat sheet, the PG13 Playthrough, and the radio drama. It's a somewhat clunky, mostly story driven puzzler and exploration game that woon't be for everyone, but it's not bad and the sounds are pretty great; no wonder considering the BBC made it...river raiders by what used to be X-sight interactive, a not fully finished but still quite good little arcade game is worth mentioning as well.

I play Pokemon showdown (http://play.pokemonshowdown.com ). Really deep strategy in that one but the learning curve is a bit steep, you'll want to go to www.smogon.com to read articles about how to best use various pokemons.

Re: Games which are quite good in your opinion but got less attention.

found this comment from defender on a topic similar to this one, hope it helps, look belowDefenderI like villins from beyond, Beatstar, the blind swordsman, A blind legend for IOS or Android (it's not free on PC) BK3 (you can play it with the JGT add-on for NVDA if you can't pay the 5 bucks for translations or get someone else to) crazy party, judgement day as mentioned by Orko, Escape Beat, Three D velocity AKA TDV2, World of War, Marina Break, Screaming Strike, Night of Parasite, Park Boss, Preludeamals, River raiders, Rode to Rage AKA RTR, Run for your life, Shadow Line again with the JGT add-on (no translations available sadly) Super deekout, Tactical Battle (their are both smaller and larger maps to choose from) Top Speed 3, Star Trek Final Conflict, Sonic invaders, The road of life, technoshock (if you can find a good sound mod for it) adventure at c:, Scrolling Battles, Your World (as long as the server is up and stable) Jungle, The great cheese robbery, Palace punchup (allot more fun over the local network with a friend) Troopinum 2 (if you can find the cracker, cracking it is allowed according to the site rules since it's abandoned) Pipe 2 (same deal, abandoned) Super Liam, Acefire, Super egg hunt Plus (the demo lets you play the old modes with no restrictions) The Perilous Hearts Concept Demo (obviously unfinished and never will be at this point but still cool) The Zombpocolyps Concetp Demo (same deal, probably will never be finished) Dragon Pong (more fun online) Survive the wild (you'll be at a disadvantage with a free account but you can still enjoy the game for the most part) operation Blacksquare, Legacy (if you can get someone to give you a copy) Dog who hates toast, Blinded Guide, Rhythm rage, Aprone's towers of war, Pontes Sound Puzzle, Kringle Crash, Sound RTS (the crazymod version is only really good online now) The great toy robbery, Mock1, Kerkerkruip (using the Wingit interpreter and the Automatic speech output for interactive fiction interpreters NVDA add-on by Nick Stockton) and MUDS with Mushclient like Alteraeon, Godwars II, and Miriani.Winget will also help you play other games, like Pogoman GO, Hunger Demon, and more. With the Win Frotz interpreter (not the same as Wingit) and that NVDA interactive fiction add-on you can play all sorts of other free interactive fiction games as well, like gourmet, Anchorhead, Dangerous Curves, Curses, The dreamhold, a bear's night out, Winter wonderland, A day for soft food, ETC, which you can find on the ifarchive for download.Their are also some browser games you might like, such as Improbable Island, but I don't play those much so you'd be better off talking to someone else about them.Gamebooks exist too, like those from chooseyourstory, the fighting fantasy project, the Arborell gamebook archive, ETC.Some of these games are pretty hard, the road of life, the blind swordsman, Kerkerkruip, Operation Blacksquare, Rhythm Rage (not nearly as hard if you know a bit about music) Villins from beyond, ETC, but still fun enough to be worth it.Some are pretty old/simplistic and or have crappy sounds, technoshock, Aprones Towers of war, Mock1, Blinded Guide, super Liam, Kringle Crash, all the interactive fiction games obviously, ETC, but their still worth trying for humor or historical purposes.
