Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

I'm afraid I'm not sure, since it seemed to be okay for purchase in Britain. I believe the problem is to do with Amazon's silly geoblocking policy where, even if games are available, not all purchices are. I did see this problem a while ago with games like the vortex and I believe 6 swords, but whether it's fixed now I'm not sure.

Your welcome. I'll do a propper data base page for deep space dice soon. I'm not sure at the moment which alexa games need db pages and which don't, thus far I've been concentrating on those alexa titles which are more game like, although at least some of the trivia stuff (the more complex ones like feel the pressure), might need entries too, though how to determine this I'm not sure.

Just to note updates, brain ninja, daily question, %3 challenge and Urty's two great board game adaptations, and an update to valley of the ivory dragon which has received some nice work and is actually playable now. Oh, and yes star finder and cursed painting will need full scale looks at, but those are going to be major projects I think.I'm not sure at this point what's going to happen as regards the db and amazon games, since obviously some like 6 swords and dungeon adventure really need entries, but trying to add entries for all of them could be difficult. Still, topic with my alexa based thoughts gets some updates, and any theories on how we decide what does or does not need db entries could be helpful.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

Just added another one, The vortex, and its bloody awesome, actually I considered creating a separate topic for it in new releases as its a more major game than a lot of other things on Alexa. You start off in a cryo pod on a spaceship where you are still frozen but can interact with the ship’s systems through a neural link, this includes robots and computers. You do this with voice commands, instructing robots to do things like “Examine the rope”, or “look around the cargo bay” There are however two things that make this really different to your usual interactive fiction/coya game, and not just the sound or the really intelligent use of Alexa voices. Lots of tasks take time, that is real world time. Send a robot to look for supplies it’ll be back in 6 hours, ask a robot to hack the computer? It’ll take four hours, with a notification when they’re done. Some tasks use multijell, that is robot fuel, which you can find by salvaging the ship, you can use multijell to create overdrive batteries and speed matters up, but obviously you have a limited amount. More tasks to get multijell appear every real world 8 hours. So, this is sort of like land of livia in space, with multiple robots instead of one hero, accept for one other thing. Personality. All the robots have slightly different personalities, from poppas Beta to snarky alpha. They also use the default Alexa voices for different English languages, for example Gamma is the Australian female, whilst Beta is the English male. Oddly enough this makes things really atmospheric, and also gives you an amazingly nice sense of the different robots tasks and priorities. I have seen some reviews on Amazon say you can pay to buy multijell rather than grind from daily tasks, but I’ve not seen options for that as yet, which possibly means its not available in the Uk. Either way its a game I suspect I'll be playing for a while, and nice to see a larger more serious project on Alexa.

It'll say something like, and this isn't a real qote but an example, "cars 3, relesaed in 2016, was directed by Aaron from audiogames.net, true or false" and of course it'd be false. When you say false, it'll tell you the actual director. It does the same with actors, but the ones that are tricky are the film tagline ones as I don't know much about taglines.

@Dark the pictorial questions don't really matter because they relie on your knowledge anyway. Yes it says use the Alexa app for clues but they honestly do not take away from the experience. It's nothing like "what's in this picture", it's just asking who's directing or starring in what film, and if you get an answer wrong, it still tells you the actual result, so I'd say this one's pretty playable.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

I got an Echo recently, and recommend some others, here's two trivia ones:Wake word, open pointless, this one's based on the UK tv show and it's surprisingly accurate. In fact this is what inspired me to even start looking for games in the firstplace. Then I remembered your topics Dark.Wake word, open popcorn quiz: this one's a movie quiz, with ranks, double point and triple point rounds, true or false and sometimes it's very amusing if you know the answer is true and gives you a false one. Sometimes it says use app for clues but you honestly don't have to, as it's more about knowledge. This also goes back to movies from the 40's at points, and will suddenly throw out random category rounds at you like weston or mystery or animation movies, and some of them can be really obscure! Be warned, this is very addictive I got stuck in a hour long loop before I was able to pull myself away, this really has that "one more go" feel about it.

Here's a game that I just heard about on the Blind Bargains podcast. It's called Match Game, in it you play the Super Match portion of the Match Game TV show. Super Match has two parts, in the first you are given a phrase like "blank bells" and you have to fill in the blank with the most popular response. To help you out you are given three sample answers, you can use one of those or use one of your own. You earn points based on whether you pick the most, second most, or third most popular answer. The second part is similar except you are going head to head with Alexa. Again you are given a phrase with a word missing and you have to try to guess the same word Alexa thinks up. You are not given any sample answers. The games has the usual sound effects including the music from the TV show. Each week you accumulate points and if you reach 1,000 points within a week you earn a bonus. The weeks start on Saturday. There are more than likely more bonuses beyond the first one but I haven't gotten that far yet. If you miss one or more days, you can play those missed days, but only for fun, no points are offered for them.

@Dark, I'm sure you are right about Jeopardy, consider though that the Double Jeopardy round is rather new here and instead of being a bug, simply hasn't made it yet to the UK, but it's more than likely coming. Also you don't need a skill to ask Alexa to spell a word, you just ask, "Alexa, how do you spell xxx", and she'll tell you. Just as you don't need a calculator skill to ask Alexa a math problem. On missing this years carols, I did pretty much the same thing. I started collecting "A Christmas Miracle" aCDs by the Children's Miracle Network, but missed the fourth year so I don't have volume 4 in my collection. Annoyed with myself for that.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

It actually surprised me when I got into it, though I will say that having a working browser with the alexa ap helped a lot. Trying it through Ios just wasn't good, and I didn't find many skills last year at all. That combined with the fact the music options on it are pretty pathetic made me stick it on a shelf for close to a year, but hay, at least we're catching up now. We did have a lovely time over christmas with my parents playing various trivia games, since with having to speak  you don't need to be computer literate to use it. I'm even thinking of buying some of the Echo buttons so my lady and I can play trivial pursuit and actually buz in. Other none game related functions I find very handy is  skill called Word nurd which can give you the spelling of any word you tell it, also setting reminders is really handy since I tend to forget things (I even set a reminder so that next december the First Alexa will remind me to buy a John rutter carol collection as we missed his carols this christmas ).Apart from the music, the voice perchicing is a little patchy I find, eg, it didn't seem to be able to tell you the price or buy something if it is not actually sold by amazon. I also found that entering the four digit pass code to buy was one of the few areas wheree Nvda seemed to stumble on the page a little, so at the moment I've disabled voice purchasing so that I don't order an elephant by mistake. it's easy enough to buy things on line once you use the correct navigation to cut through all Amazon's adds, and it's likely voice purchasing will improve in the future.Oddly enough I don't have the same problem adding items to a shopping list, which is a function that will prove useful I think, since quite often I'm remembering halfway through the day that we need  a loaf of bread or a bottle of washing up liquid or something else extremely mundane, and then utterly forgetting it when I go shopping . Getting back to games, my lady and I are loving the flash briefings both for the news headlines, and for the word of the day, as well as doing question of the day and jeopardy together.@Orko, btw, I believe the problem with double jeopardy is a uk, or maybe a none us thing, again hopefully it'll be fixed if the developers known about it since it'd be nice to get the full whack as we now have amazon prime.

If you've got double Jeopardy, it means you've got prime I think, but maybe that isn't available in UK fro some reason, I don't know. I love playing it every now and then. And if you have prime, you also can play days you missed in the week you missed them if you don't play every single day. For example if you missed Monday, you can play it on Tuesday-Sunday.

@DarkDouble Jeopardy not working must be isolated to the UK because it works over here. I hope they get it fixed quickly, until they introduced the Double Jeopardy round I was considering disabling the Jeopardy skill, because only six questions per day wasn't enough. When you get around to adding these games to the database, I'd suggest just calling the platform for these games Alexa. The servers the Alexa system runs on are more than likely running some form of Linux.

Btw, updated the list again with another one, the  higher lower game. I'll be back at my flat on Thusday and there are a couple more adventure games I want to try, I also hope we see Dungeon crawler at some point that  people mentioned earlier (again perhaps someone can contact the developer). i'd like to start updating the db with pages, for  Alexa games, since it's such an inherently accessible platform, though  being as Alexa seems available on multiple devices I'm not sure what the os is called for the platform section .

Itried sleep and it didn't work, I also tried  updates, though i didn't try new features. It could be an accent thing, but then again, my echo's default language is set to English uk (one reason my lady is having a little more  trouble making herself understood), so there should be some compensation. I think the speech is just rather buggy, though I'll  give it another try and submit a  bug report if necessary .

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

@dark, I don't have a bit of trouble getting it to understand me at all except for one little bug, and the rest command is sort of a necessity and the News is really important to keeping up with stuff. Do you have your alexxa near anything that produces any ambient noise? or how close are you when you play. I don't use my chess table so I have the device on the corner of that but I'm usually no more than 7-8 feet at the most away when I'm giving commands and I'm facing directly towards it. I can tell you that things can be screwed up on it if you are listening to music or the TV at the same time. You probably speak clearly but maybe I think you said you're British and maybe it doesn't get that voice accent as well? Also maybe try the following for a couple of the commands. Most of them have a few separate words that work.Instead of rest, say "sleep" instead, they have the same effect and even I find that the thing is more responsive to sleep.2. instead of  saying "news" say "updates" or "new features" the effect is the same and then say "more" to scroll through the most recent stuff.3. "buy" does not work to purchase stuff you actually need to say "purchase" when in the shop. "sell" however works."look" and "surroundings" are pretty useful commands.4. say "who" to get into your party information and "about" for your big game stats. Also to Orco, the game "world Detective" really does seem like a Carmen Sandiego-style game.

Well added a few more skills to the list, so people can check them out. Thanks bookrage I'll  bare those tips in mind, though i've not managed to get the rest command to work either, the program  usually assumes I say "west" or something, indeed even though I did get a message about needing to sleep at one stage I sort of assumed this was flavour text  since I couldn't get a rest command to work. Ditto with the  news. I've seen some of the descriptions related to the moe command, though they don't say much, and also some of them seem a little odd in terms of your surroundings. ; I do hope the game's interface at lest gets tightened up a bit since while moving, fighting and the more command are fine, others such as rest and news don't seem to be, and the game could really do with a bit more going on I think, indeed procedural generated content might be a good thing since as I said right now it's difficult to find much I can do but wander around the roads and fight. i'll give things another bash however, though as Mrs. dark and I are at my parents now and  space is a bit more  limited I'll probably have to wait a bit.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

oh, sorry Dark didn't see all of your post. Here's a bit more.I have no idea why the news isn't working for you. It works fine for me. You have to wait until the narrator is done talking before you say anything though.2. I wish there were more descriptions of the monsters too, but being a D buff and most of the monsters  coming from there, I know what they look like.3. There actually is more description  of scenery to a point, but you have to use the 'more command."4. The castle you were in was probably a player castle, that name sounds like one of the random generated names given to adventuring parties.5. don't try the shrines until you have 6 GOOD mercenaries and each one has at least one magic item, either weapon or armor (magic stuff usually has a +# or some special thing to its name.), or you're gonna get stomped, even in the easy ones. You'll want all your guys to have upwards of 8-11 hp at the least and have no low physical stats. Strength, constitution, and Dexterity should all  be 14 at the lowest and the other two ought to be higher if that's the case. If you are going to drop a character to switch them out, strip them of their equipment first in case the new guy you hire has craptacular starting equipment. If you have exceptional non-magical equipment like really good armor  you don't need to follow the magic rule I gave you. You'll want their mental stats "Charisma, Intelligence, and Wisdom," to not bee too bad and at least 2 of those should be 10 or higher. March around the roads from town to town to find some good characters.6. I'm not sure how to examine items myself. I usually scroll through the info in shops and commit the stats such as damage and stuff to memory, guessing at things like the word "flaming." and so on. 7. If you sell those permits, I imagine you could make quite the profit, they certainly cost a lot when I find them at the gypsy camps. I might sell the deeds and permits I have myself come to think of it. They are to help you build castle parts. I have no castle at this point myself and am more interested in getting some nice magic items first.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

there isn't a lot of handholding I'll give you, but I have a couple more tips that some dungeon crawling has given me as I've now cleared two shrines.1. If you are in a dungeon, such as a shrine, temple, cave complex, or abandoned castle, if you come upon a really big batch of monsters and you don't think you can beat them. Fight them and kill a couple. As your heroes begin to fall, retreat to a room you've already cleared or one you know to be empty. Rest until you are full strength again and go back. For example, if you fight 15 orcs, and kill 7 of them before you are forced to retreat,  when you re-enter that room after resting there will only be 8. you suffer no penalties for any of this. The one exception is with some strong undead that can steal your levels off you where of course that can be a more permanent problem (though you can get that fixed by getting healed by a god that likes you for clearing their holy places.) The enemies will not follow you. In temple they will say, "the gods are smiling on you." when you have cleared it. Also, there is a very hefty XP boost for finishing a bounty and reporting back to the fort/outpost/castle you got it from.  I made some enormous jumps in level today in the course of an hour and a half (bringing all but one of my characters to level 2 and 3 of them halfway to level 3) of playtime from the somewhat more challenging monsters in the temples plus the bonuses for the bounties. Plus I'm filthy stinking rich now. Also, with bounties, the cheapest ones are the easiest. I can do a 1000 gold one easy, but a 4000 one is still well beyond my capabilities, so go cheap and play it safe. Also, to be honest, I think Orco is right in saying that it is not quite finished, but that is not a bad thing as I see it. Six Swords is Massively-single player because although you don't interact directly with other mercenary companies, you are able to visit their castles and there are several ways you compete, including building castles, earning badges, and trying to kill every type of monster in the game, explore as many dungeons as possible, go as far as you can from your starting location, visit every town, and many others. The game has a major content update almost every week, such as the divine weapons, new kinds of castle structures to build, and Gypsy caravans (little shops and fortune tellers that move about on the map rather than being in one specific place like towns are.) all in the past 3 weeks. Don't think of it quite like  you would a game that is finished, think of it as more of an mmo game. Also the creator is trying to find ways that things in the game will be procedurially generated rather than deliberately set out as they are now completely written into place. I'm not sure if that has started yet but I epect it is coming. The updating on the game is very rapid and frequent.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

I don't get the  impression that six swords isn't finished, but I do suspect it is one of these games where you have to know how things work in order to get some good out of it. It reminds me in some ways of  the times I've played  old dos rpgs such as Fallthru. With those sorts of games, there is a learning urve that is fairly steep, and usually involves frustration, but said frustration tends to be rewarded eventually when you know  where to go, how to progress etc. Indeed, Fallthru at the beginning really! got on my nurves (especially for it's highly clunky parsing), now it's one of the major games I miss having  access to on my 64 bit system.  So, hopefully Bookrage can shed some light on this. Lol, I was just about to give my thoughts on some of the rpg games I have seen on Amazon, but since I've already done that in the  mini reviews on the list I'll be lazy and just let you have a look at that, though any questions about the games on the list feel free to ask, since I have personally tried all of them.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

Hi Bookrage, thanks for the tips. I gave the game another try today, but progress is moving rather like a tortoise.I did find a shrine, but got my first party all killed within two  rounds  four skeletons (three were still up by the end of the first round, talk about extreme!). Upon trying again I have got a little further The only castle I found has nothing in it at all, just three empty  rooms and nothing to do, the castle wass called castle of the falcons of the stick"  so I wondered if it was another players guild hall or something, but either way there was nothing I could do with it.I did find the bounties list,  the first bounty I checked lead me to another shrine, and after nearly dying again I gave up on that one. Upon my way to the second I ran into 8 orcs who nearly killed me, then 26 huge rats who also nearly killed me, so methinks I'll give up on that one too. I have cleared out a good few cave complexes, but I am getting a little tired of finding nothing in them and also earning experience that goes no where. The only practical good I seem to have done is one fight I got with two orcs which gave me eleven coins anda mark permit, but  since I can't get the game to examine specific items I have no idea what this permit thing is for.I also cannot read the news at all, since though when it starts six swords tells me to say news to find out about the latest updates, it does not recognize the word "news", neither does it recognize "read the news", "latest news", "latest updates", or "read the bloody news you moron!" .I probably wouldn't be as frustrated if the game had a little more text to it, since I find simply  around well described landscapes and examining fascinating monsters can keep my interest even if I am having to grind,  when a game just says "you encounter x amount of single name enemy" it just doesn't give me much of a sense of exploration or progress. Any thoughts? As I said I definitely! think there is an awesome rpg in there somewhere, I just wish I could get to it a little more.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

also forgot another thing about having a active companion. It serves a couple purposes. Your active companion always goes first in a round of battle. 2. active companions are easier to manage their inventories if you try to say "Equip X with Y" and Alexxa doesn't hear the name clearly, she'll just do whatever you were trying to do to your active character. This has proven quite frustrating at times. So here's a little tip I found about inventory management that took me over an hour to figure out.1. If you have a list of inventory items that are similar in name such as "Shortbow" and "+1 Shortbow" Alexxa will only hear "shortbow" even if you add the +1 part at the beginning. If you are trying to give a character a +1 shortbow and you have regular ones  earlier in your inventory list. Give all the extra shortbows to characters that can use them, even doubling up where possible, until all the crappy stuff you don't want is equipped. Then equip the shortbow you do want on who you intended. Then take shortbows from the characters you gave them to that you don't intend to use. In truth, it is probably better you sell things when you no longer need them while you are at stores that will buy them, or unload at gypsy camps which will purchase any item.Oddly, the lack of specificity of paying attention to full names doesn't cross over to equipped items, only into equipping them in the first place. So if a character has a +1 large shield and a +2 large shield and you say "Take +2 large shield." It will get it right.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

1. the monsters don't change based on location on the world map directly, but they do get stronger the farther you get from the road. Monsters are pretty easy if you stay on the roads. 2. Castles, forts, and outposts, don't have bounties quite like you are thinking. You go into them and go into the office portion of them. There you can look at stuff like a bulletin board (I've only been to forts and they tend to have 3 dungeons listed separated by the "more" command.) that tells the location of a dungeon and how much gold you will get for clearing it out. For example, it will say "You will receive 4000 gold for clearing out a dungeon 16 miles to the north and 3 miles to the west) which gives you directions to the dungeon in question. complete the dungeon and go back to the fort, castle, or outpost, which will specifically have those words in their name, just as you can tell a lot about a town depending on whether it is a city, town, village, or hamlet, which tells you the general quality of items you can find in the shops  and how many establishments there'll be in the city, with hamlets usually having 2-3, villages have 6 or so, towns have 10 or so and cities usually have at least one of every type of shop, several temples, often a bardic college which allows you to customize the narration voice, (I'm working with the high-elven female accent.) 3. If you cleared out a monster-infested castle, you will later, with money, be able to claim it as your own, a lot of smart monsters like orcs, goblins, and stuff like that actually carry deeds to different castle structures that dramatically reduce the cost of improving your castles. (note I just know this from listening around taverns, reading the help stuff, and paying attention to the news each time I get on.) Was particularly tickled when I found plans for the Dressing Room on some orcs.4. The game taking a very long time to make progress is definitely a thing I've noticed too. Though I played it a ton yesterday, I  still only have some of my party 1/2 the way to level two and the others aren't to that "milestone" yet. But if you save up for magic items at stores, you'll be fine as that seems to matter a lot. Also, if you're like me, you got a lot of cruddy starting characters when you started the game and even if it holds back your Xp growth a little, you'll want to find better ones at various hiring halls around the world. Despite the fact they are called hiring halls, taking a character from one is free.and for getting money, if the map isn't randomized, head south. I did and there are fire mephitis around. They tend to attack you solo and are easily driven away though they get two attacks per round and hit kind-of-hard. You scare one away, or better yet, kill one and they drop upwards of 100 a piece and they aren't shabby on experience either if you manage to kill it. You can find them on the road.(I'm not sure if you noticed, but a lot of times you can say "more" after a little blippy sound to listen to more info, you can usually do that 3 times at a tavern, the buying drinks is just flavor as far as I know. Also, most shops, particularly in big cities, have more than just 3 things for sale and the cruddier stuff is on later pages, again... "more." and if you keep saying it it will give you the stats to a point and weight as well as name and price. The temples can do special things for you, but only after you do favors for the respective God worshipped there. For example, you can get special bonuses, healing, and recently-added, free magic weapons by going to a temple after you have cleared out a dungeon that is a temple. For example, I know where there is an overgrown Srhine to Jupiter that is a dungeon crawling with Undead. If I were to clear it, I could then go to an active temple in a city dedicated to Jupiter and receive a special prize, though I think the prize is random, though you also get access to the pool after you please a god enough.I hope that answers some of your questions and issues. Also curious to how six Swords kids is different than the normal one.

@Dark, Thanks! One thing about Alexa I find very frustrating and that is that several times a week I'll be in the middle of a game and out of the blue Alexa says, "I'm sorry but I'm having trouble accessing your skills right now." and the game abruptly ends, sometimes you loose all your progress, or if you try again later it says you've already played the day's game and to come back tomorrow.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

In terms of six swords, I'm afraid I'm having trouble finding any rewards at all.I can go and beat up  jackals or horned cats or something, and occasionally I see a cave complex I can   enter however the rewards for defeating them are just xp, no gold, and judging by level costs it takes a hell of a lot of xp to get anywhere. I did find a few gold when i ran into a goblin, but those are few and far between, and most other humanoid monsters I've met I need to runaway from since they're waaay to tough for me to deal with. This also limits the amount of teretory I can explore since too far from the starting location and I run into nasty things I can't do anything about. In the six swords topic in new releases it said something about going to castles for bounties, but the only castle I found had nothing in it. I've been to villages, but villages have either inns with nobody in them (the text said something about listening to rumours or buying drinks but I didn't find anything), empty temples with a healing pool I cannot enter, or shops full of armour, weapons and potions I cannot afford.I am also not sure what exactly the point of having an active companion is, or if there are any tactics at all beyond wait and see if the gods of random numbers are on your side. Most party members have a couple of weapons and use them randomly, and I'm not sure which are best for which stats or even how to tell a party member to prefer one weapon over another.I am sure there is an awesome rpg in there somewhere, but at the moment I'm having  getting into it, and my motivation for trying given I've not seen anything beyond single named monsters probably isn't as high as it could be (I'd love some quests, awesome monster descriptions, interesting stuff to find while exploring  etc).

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

just some info about "Six Swords." I thought I'd share with you guys. I first played it about a month and a half ago. I like games that update frequently and I get a little bummed at dead games. I checked their facebook page routinely over the last month and a half without playing and didn't see anything except that there is a "Six Swords Kids." too. When I tried to play it again today, I found that about for every week I had been gone, there was a major content update, so the game is definitely alive and well. I'm having a lot of trouble clearing dungeons. I have it so most of my characters have low-end magic items and most of them are decent in terms of fighting ability (though they are all still level 1) but even the easiest dungeons (measured by cheapest reward for clearing them." are kicking my but. 8 skeletons is a lot and 19 at once against a party of six is... wrong. But I played the game for hours today, so I couldn't have been that annoyed. I plan to try out a few more dungeons soon enough.

Hmmm, well it turns out that they are £20 not £40 as I thoughtt, that is 26 dollars each which isn't quite so bad, albeit since we have the spoonbill program that can make accessible crosswords in various common file formats from the internet, I'll look around to see what I can find before I go forking over that sort of cash. Just a note, i've been trying more skills and pdating the article,  two different versions of Hunt the wumpus, two battle games and an animal sounds quiz, so keep checking back.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

Thanks Orco we'll have a look at that. She does enjoy trivia games, we often watch the quiz show chase together, or with my dad when we're staying at my parents. I'd love to see a true trivial pursuit style game for Alexa rather the way Trivia crack used to be on Ios before the accessibility went bye bye. she also loves crosswords and has demolished all of the spoonbill ones that aren't cryptic, and is trying to find more  (though sadly there isn't a lot else around unless you want to  fork out 40 quid  a go to Azabat, for eighty crosswords (which is 53 dollars according to Alexa)which  is rather on the steep side. That is one reason I'm checking out word and trivia games as well as my usual interests such as roleplay, but hay then again I'm a relatively omnivorous gamer, the only type of games that I find an active turn off are sports and motor racing, and even those I will at least try out if they're real time (though sports stratogy I find too incomprehensible to really play).Getting back on track however, it now turns out the volley link people who made several of imho the better skills on the list such as world detective, yes sire, jeopardy  and strange halls also make several others that aren't around in the uk including Yes Mr. President (something I would love to try despite not being American), and a song quiz game. Weirdly enough their holiday song quiz is available, but their regular one isn't. Since however I dug their email off the web I've dropped them a line, so we'll see what happens.

I'm afraid having no experience of Google assistant or devices I don't know anything about the correspondence between that and the amazon Alexa, so a separate list there might be a good thing. Eventually I do plan db pages for some, if not all of these, but manifestly there is a lot out there to add and there is only one of me .Btw, I have found two very amusing uses for the Amazon echo now. Firstly, the ability to dungeon crawl and play other games while I do the washing up is pretty cool, and secondly, mrs. Dark is quite a fan of word of the day and Jeopardy.Jeopardy I am less keen on, since I've noticed many of the questions are rather Us centric, eg, out of todays round there was one question about American Advert jingles and one other one about the capital of Texus, still it's a fun thing to do together, and the speech recognition is pretty good. The audio rewards in word of the day are indeed getting rather more amusing .

yeah bookrage I've  noticed that some skills require accounts, and charge eg shadow realm mentioned still either way it's not a reason to lock out people from other countries from playing, to be honest I wonder why Amazon even has the facility, fair enough if games are available in other languages, but even then there are plenty of people in different countries who are fluent in a first language not their own  and could play games in it, (my lady is fluent  in German for example). Either way if perhaps people from the states could give the developers of Dungeon crawl some polite hassling about unlocking their ap it would be appreciated. I'd do this myself accept that I can't get access to the comments or contact pages for the ap without it being on the amazon.co.uk store.@Orco, I'm progressively updating the first post and put in a listing for colossal cave adventure just now, that is one reason I'm using headings, so people can check what is in there more easily.

There is also the Zork unofficial fan version. As for who to blame for the region locking, I'd blame the developers, Alexa is just a service doing what the developers tell them to do.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

actually, the thing that all Alexxa skills are free isn't exactly true. While activating any skill is almost always free, some have stuff on them that you have to pay to unlock via the Alexxa app on your phone before you can use them on your Alexxa Echo device. They are extremely rare but they exist.I don't see though why regional blocking for apps ought to keep American apps out of other countries' acess, especially for other English-speaking countries. Also, another game. World Detective.World Detective is sort of like a version of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. It has different scenarios I think but you will talk to locals and they will tell you hints about where the target, whether it is a missing person or a criminal, has gone and you have to guess the country. The goal is to use the fewest clues you can to get to the end of the game. My record is 11 right now.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

Unfortunately Dungeon crawler doesn't show up in the skills list over here god making this thing region locked is so bloody stupid  when all of the skills are free anyway, though I'm not sure if the blaim for this resides with Amazon or the  developers who forget that places outside their home country actually exist so don't bother enabling their skill for distribution elsewhere.Dungeon crawler sounds very cool, perhaps people in the  states could do a bit of constructive developer pestering? I've  spent a bit more time with Chance starship than chance dungeon, though on that one I've got on fairly well, got  over 85 power cells at one stage but didn't run into anymore before the aliens and space pirates got me . I've had fun with dungeon adventure, though I had to look up  additional tips which you can only find on the facebook site, including all of the actual commands (sort of weird they didn't list those in game), and information like the fact that the game actually has quests. for that info see this post and no you don't need to log in to facebook for that.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

I'll have to say in Dungeon crawler, you get a bit more control over combat, as you can chose to slug it out with the monster or run away. If you flee you still go onto the next room. I don't know how to track my hp in it though.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

found another little something out there.Dungeon Crawler: Exactly what it says, you walk through what seems to be a completely linear dungeon trying to find 10 treasures. I never had to say where I wanted to go but I used the word "continue, a lot." You'll either come across a room with treasure, empty rooms, or a monster. As with the classic XY monstername formats, usually you'll come across a monster with a couple adjectives tacked onto the beginning of its name that gives you some hints as to its nature. My favorite I found was the "dark dark knight." (not a mistake, "dark" was repeated twice.")I'm not sure whether I like that game or chance dungeon more. The first time I played chance dungeon a few minutes ago, I didn't even get to chose anything because I got in a trap that killed me in the second room I went in so it was a "you follow the path to the north." and then after a few stock phrases "you are locked in a cage" game over. But I played it some more anyhow. Best I've done is 9 rooms and 1020 gold, with no monster fights. The one time I had a monster fight I fought an ogre and it beat me to a bloody pulp... literally.I'm hoping both of these games are still alive and well, just wanted to put that one in for you and tell you I love Chance dungeon even though the game is sadistic.

If you are a Star Wars fan, I just discovered "The Jedi Code", it is described as an interactive story. I just enabled it, but haven't tried it yet, so I can't tell you if it is any good or not, but since I'm a huge Star Wars fan I'm always open to anything related to it.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

Thanks Bookrage, actually Mrs. Dark is quite keen on trying Jeopardy. Being as in the Uk Jeopardy is comparatively unknown it is probably not one I would've done, but we'll give it a go. i've edited the first post a little to include more games and will go on as I find them, perhaps eventually turning this into a short article.

Re: List of Audiogames on Alexa

Here's a couple others to add to the list.JeopardyThis game is an abbreviated version of the television show Jeopardy and you get 6 clues that you get to answer each weekday from the categories that will be on that day's episode. If you have Amazon prime, you also get to do the double jeopardy categories as well, at the end of each day you are scored and ranked in what percentile you got in comparison to other players. You also get this at the end of the game on Friday for the entire week. The game responds to the voice very well.Codename Signus: same as audio game for Android and  Ios, but sounds pretty good for the Alexxa. Earplay, which has the rights to  it and promises to release their other titles on Alexxxa as they become available, including hopeful new chapters and missions for codename signus., of which they already have several planned.Vauly trivia showdown, same game in principle and rules as the family one mentioned above except you play live with a real human opponent. Answer 7 true or false questions, each with increasing point values, though the 7th question is high enough in point value to make the others almost meaningless unless one player or another is doing very weel while the other is doing poorly.I'll have to try chance dungeon though for sure and I've tried some of the others too. Also thought escape room was something else, so I might try that too. Thanks for all of this.
