Clearly this developer didn't like how you had to set an icon for a dialog.set icon for this dialog if we can...not an easy way to do this that I know of.hIcon is in the WndClass, which means that if we change it for us, we change it for everyone. Which means that we would have to create a superclass that looks like a dialog but has it's own hIcon. Sheesh.2. l Japanese tts was broken.The L speech engine for japanese, goes crazy if you pass a " ", It now takes approx 1 min to come back to life. XP was always going to have a partnering speech synth as shown via inclusion of L and H's tts and speech recognition in the Office suite, but the former Truetalk never made it into the fold. You will also see a lot of similarities between it and At and T Natrual Voices as this does have Bell Laboratories Dna. TRuetalk's lead developer was Fred Richards. IT had 9 voices, though the xp codebase only had 2, or 4 technically if you count the min variants. Narrator only supported English.The unreleased Truetalk voices only supported English. And were quite obvioulsy designed for older soundcards and small footprint, owing to their lower bitrate. The min variants are their equivalent of compact voices, although there's only an _expression_ change. Simon could have actually been quite nice as a daily driver were it part of the public XP builds. We know Microsoft aborted their singing synth efforts, but I do wonder what landed this more or less finished synth on the chopping block. Re: Share your thoughts on the xp leak+interesting finds as much as I liked XP and miss the stability, wonderfully simplistic interface, and low resource utilization, I wouldn't want to go back. XP doesn't support SSDs, USB 3, newer Wi-Fi standards like 802.11N, the improved Narrator, exFAT support, automatic driver detection, etc. Speaking of wireless, I always found it insanely slow! I'm talking 100 to 200 KBps slow. I'm not sure how much of that was due to the operating system, the older computers I was using, the wireless access points we had, or the internet connection in general, but it was horrible! File transfers over USB were also really bad, although I bet most of that has to do with the fact XP doesn't support USB 3 which really does make a substantial difference in transfer speed.
