The thing is this, which I had a huge problem with and which actually made me write a reply which as ironcross32 as has become a trend like I stated before so disgustingly pointed out, that is not post, just read and stay away, mostly. Unless I have a strong reaction to something and write anyway, even though the result isn't gonna be worth the few seconds of me putting in the time to write it in the first place. Brad has had the history of doing this before, yes. Many others, alongside him have had the same history, and yes, it does add a bit to the pile of negativity this forum has become, but it's more to do with people like ironcross32 and others who insult, demean and generally be a bunch of rude fill in the blank of your choice here, anyone and everyone left and right given a chance. They aren't usually wrong, as you and the rest aren't in this topic, but just because the entire internet or take what you will isn't a nice place to be, doesn't mean this forum has to go down the same root, it is up to us in the end what we make of it, after all. So instead of punishing brad, for something as small as posting a topic saying I am leaving because this is draining, the others ought to have been dealt with in whichever way the mods see best, instead. Again, not stating that brad was the one blameless or a saint here, no, of course he wasn't, but I don't think he is the type to post things, just to sit back with popcorn's and see the wagon go down burning. The Atention part of his post I see him as trying to defend himself from the usual comment of atention seaker that tend to be posted here, how ever ironic that was. So by banning brad under the community failure claws, That brad has done this 3 times knowingly that it creates drama, what the forum says is, anything that tends to get our users a bit insulting/ trolling and or heated/ causes drama, will lead to you getting banned not the people doing the heckling instead. Example, Screenreader topics, android topics, Iphone/ IOS topics etc etc, as these tend to get people fired up, and in the environment of this forum as it now exists leading people to make harsh/ insulting comments towards you or one another or generally heats up defending the product of their choice. Re: This site is draining me so I'm leaving. If one desires to leave the forum, then there need not be a thread devoted to saying so. It serves no purpose other then to draw attention to oneself. However, I also understand that this is what some folks want, attention. If you really want to leave, then, as others have said here, just do it. Bringing up the drama that made you decide to do so is not going to help because the ones causing it will continue to do so whether you're still here or not. The only other course of action is to just ignore threads where you know you're likely to find the sort of drama you dislike. Believe me, it's very easy to do, and I've grown quite accustomed to doing so as of late. It is because of drama, and I'm not saying that these kinds of things are always the cause of it, that if I created a similar forum there would be no threads concerning politics, KOVID-19, or any of that. It would be devoted to games, and other tech-related stuff. Some off-topic things would, of course, be permitted, but things that could easily cause trouble such as those I just mentioned would be strictly forbidden just to avoid the drama that would come with it. If I knew how to start a forum like that, I would gladly do it. However, I have no idea how to go about it. Likely, someone would still find some way to cause unnecessary drama even without the topics I mentioned being allowed, so you can't really totally escape this. What you're failing to address is the other side of the coin, which is that Brad has already done this three times, and every single time it's everyone else's fault. It is my view that if you see a topic from someone that says i'm leaving, you don't have to post on it. But these people are choosing to, thus causing or contributing to drama. Brad just created this topic to say that he was leaving, and I have seen posts on this topic that contribute nothing but to cause drama. If you don't like the topic, don't post on it. I think the mods should act on this one and do it quickly, particularly as it pertains to repeat offenders, because this kind of behavior really does need squashed, as it really serves no productive purpose. I see an "I'm leaving" topic at least once every two months if not more often, and more often than not the people who claim they're leaving don't actually leave. IN all reality, it's almost like they think they can get away with threatening/bribing everyone to conform to their ways or else I'm leaving bla bla bla. Since there's no consequence, it's like they litterally give the whole comunity a finger. Har har har, I got you all stirred up for nothing. Putting a break on this here and now will serve at least three important purposes, which I will carefully outline below.1. If the person is honest about leaving, it will ensure they do so in an honest fashion, especially if they have a repeat history in this particular area.2. If they're not honest about leaving and are just posting "I'm leaving" topics because they're getting mad and doing what a lot of mudders refer to as "ragequitting" because they saw some post that thoroughly infuriated them then they regreted their making the topic later and came back, this will show them exactly what it is they're leaving. By banning them for at least two or three months you force them to evaluate their own shortcomings rather than just saying "You guys and your drama are to fault, not me." In short, we've all heard the old saying that you don't realize what you have until it's gone; this is more or less the same thing. Even if they choose not to accept their own shortcomings and embark upon a journey of self-denial, they, and we, will all know flat out when they return after their two/three month ban what their true colors really are.3. Here's the big one though; you're not feeding the trolls. Thankfully, this particular topic, though it could obviously get worse, still hasn't gotten into the kind of maddness it otherwise could be. I've seen topicvs where people are split into two camps; the one claims we should leave such people alone because depression and you don't know what it's like and he/she can't help his or herself, and maybe that's true. ON the other hand, you have people who just flat out don't care. Taking care of this issue preemptively tackles both sides of the discussion. If you don't give them the right to repeatedly posts "I'm leaving" topics they can't get themselves trolled. I know that sounds super psychotically dictatorial and like free speech sensoring, so I'll take the jab when it comes because even to my own self it sounds that way, but I do believe there are times when you have to act for the good of the community, in an atempt to preserve its integrity. If you do it this way, you can honestly say this is truly the middle ground.Remember that above I mentioned repeat offenders. There are some. Let it stop here. This kind of topic really serves no purpose other than to antagonize and fuel flames and overall negative discourse.
