Re: Virtual machine for Linux well, it's vmware's fault, I tell thy. So, it's something called easy install, or unattended install or something, don't remember the name off the top of my head. So, what it basically does is it automates installation for you, thing which you might not like, for...hmm...understandable reasons. One thing you can do is, when selecting the OS to be installed on the vm, check the radiobutton that says I will install the operating system later. Re: Virtual machine for Linux Vmware should work fine with Orca. I've got 2 vms on my machine currently that I use for various dev stuff, and both have working audio out of the box including at install time. Go into the device settings for your vm and make sure that the audio settings are configured to give it an audio device.Your biggest problem will be latency, but you can fix that by getting a USB audio interface, plugging your headphones into it, and telling VMWare to connect it to the guest. Re: Virtual machine Hi Makenan,In order to use the virtual machine posted in that topic, you must use either VMWare Workstation Player or VMWare Workstation itself on windows, or VMWare fusion on mac. The virtual machine is usable without needing to connect to it, it runs on your hardware and sends audio directly to your own soundcard. Re: Virtual machine, update, or new partition?
Re: Virtual machine, update, or new partition? @7 just a guess, but i think i know what happened. Ok. once you have downloaded a copy of Che mac os installer, open vmware fusion, press create a new vertual machine. Select install from disk or immage, then choose the mac os instaler, and press finish. Assuming you didn't choose to customize the settings, uh... i mean, the custom setting options, the machine will start up once you press finish. If you clicked on custom options, you'll have to press the start up, button yourself. Once the machine starts, up you should be able to turn on voiceover. You'll need to press install a copy of mac os. This will install mac os from the installer you selected. When you have finished setting up and are placed in the desktop, you can shut it down, but you need to install mac os or any os before shutting it down when first creating any vm. I think that's why you got the startup disk error. Just a guess though. Re: Virtual machine, update, or new partition? Nope, it won't run Mac OSX if you don't have enough ram (I'd say 16gb if you're trying to run mac inside of mac, particularly with each new version being a bit less energy-efficient. IF you have a removable hard drive, I suppose you could try running it on that through a Carbon Copy Clner image. Re: Virtual machine It is a good advantage if you've got the extra RAM, though. I recently bought a system with 16GB and it's snappy. As I ssh into my virtual machines quite often, in order to copy and paste more easily, the icon of vmware on my taskbar got quite annoying to me. In addition to the graphical interface, you can use Virtualbox from the command line as well. But yeah, the gui needs some time for getting to know it. Re: Virtual machine I myself use actually Virtualbox quite successfully. Yes, Vmware is much more usable, but Virtualbox has some options I really like, especially the headless mode. As I ssh into my virtual machines quite often, in order to copy and paste more easily, the icon of vmware on my taskbar got quite annoying to me. In addition to the graphical interface, you can use Virtualbox from the command line as well. But yeah, the gui needs some time for getting to know it. If you're using NVDA, object navigation is quite useful.Regards URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=318509#p318509 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: Virtual machine
Re: Virtual machine It's common among laptops to use part of your system memory for video. Even if your laptop has separate memory for video, because 32 bit systems can only access 4 GB of memory, some of it will be set aside so that the video memory can be accessed. To you it will look like you have only 3.5 GB of memory or something similar. Re: Virtual machine Yeah, screw Virtual Box. Its accessibility is a joke. Vmware player is free and does things a hell of a lot better.
