Re: apple device owners this topic is for you.

My memory expansion lament comes from that my iPhone only has 16 GB and I need at least 32 GB to store my music collection and other files on it. Unfortunately, I got the phone as part of a promotion, so there was no memory size option, otherwise I would have gotten at least the 32 GB model. The lament about the battery is because my battery is dieing, if owners could replace the battery themselves, iPhone battery prices wouldn't be so high.

Re: apple device owners this topic is for you.

Oh, damn, I'm sorry to hear about your storage situation. You're right, that sucks donkey balls. From my personal experience of the 128 GB model I can honestly say I'm very happy. If they did ever add an SD slot I'd only be truly happy with it if it maintained the form factor of the phone as it is now, and if all the phone's apps could handle arbitrary filesystem objects. And, painful as it is to admit it, I've well and truly settled in to the monocultural sync-based iTunes approach, so it seems unlikely that I'd benefit at all. You, on the other hand, probably would, assuming the phone had a working file system. Maybe later, when iCloud finally becomes useful for more apps.Of course, Apple is in the hardware business, so we shouldn't really be surprised that they have found a way to make it attractive to buy from them, at high prices. It is a shame their greed knows no bound.

As it is now, with not enough memory and a dieing battery, I'm considering upgrading to an iPhone 6s next month when my contract on the iPhone 5s expires.I'll probably go with 64 GB, which is about twice what I minimaly need. If I can get a deal on it, I'd go with the 128 GB model just to be sure, but I'm not willing to pay more of Apple's extravagant prices than I have to.

Nah, not really. The battery is very high quality, and external flash is slower than internal. Maybe as a substitute for a cloud file system, but definitely not for operating system use. I'm surprised it isn't on the newly-released iPad Pro, but on a phone? 128 GB is more than enough for when you're mobile, and the only thing I hate about it is the bloody price which is extortion, plain and simple.

I've got an iPhone 5, but I plan to upgrade to the new shiny once it comes out. I'm not a tech freak out for the latest and greatest, but camera quality is always improving, and I'd love to be able to scan my mail with better accuracy. I'm using a combo of Prismo and a free app called Voice. Still waiting on that KNFB reader free demo!I love Audible, and I use Ariadne as my primary GPS. My local newspaper has an app. I'm always using my calendar for work reminders. MudRammer has some annoying qualities about it. I use Dropbox fairly often. There's also a fairly local app called Liquor Limo, an alcohol delivery app. (Don't you judge me!)It'll be cool to have the fingerprint scanner, to play with Apple Pay, and with the new force touch feedback if that really happens.

Re: apple device owners this topic is for you.

I bought an Iphone 5 in 2012. I looked at getting the 6 series, but honestly there werent enough improvements to warrent me spending that sort of money on another device, Ill rethink things likely when the 7 series comes around. I really like how Vo works, both with all the default functions like the phone, clock, settings etc, and with all the many, many games from adventure to fate to pappasangre, to king of dragon pass. What I find interesting is that though i bought an Iphone primarily for games I now use it for other things, Im a big fan of blindsquare for example. The only thing I dont like about vo is the drag and drop functionsinse trying to put icons into folders is always a pain. I really wish you could just get a folder list and have a copy or cut button, and you really have! to use folders if you want to organize things and know where they are at all. I will say i like how easy it is to access things like the
time display, battery life, notifications etc, but I do wish there were at least a few functions that came with controls such as that one. I also dont find net browsing with Ios ideal either, for a start, for some reason buttons dont seem to click correctly. I will say though I dont know how much of this is the screen size, and one thing I do plan for my next model of Ios device is a bigger screen to make the controls and icons I need to find on screen more distinct.I do like Siri, and use it a lot to speed things up, which helps, especially with dictation when I dont have my bluetooth keyboard handy (which unfortunately is most of the time). The only thing I really! dont like is itunes. I like organizing my audiobooks, audiodramas and music my own way, and Itunes on the pc is just a pest. I wish I could just usb stuff across but annoyingly I cant, also I will not buy any music or books for a system that I can only use on one dev
ice. I tried with Itunes for two years, creating playlists etc, but it was just a pain, and when the sidebar headings went in Itunes 12 that was the last straw so I bought a victor stream as an mp3 player and its been so much easier! Id say there is a great deal I like about Ios, I love the in built screen reader and how well it works with the touch screen, for all I do wish some of the layout organization was easier, I love the portability, and I love! the huge amount of useful aps and games available. I do wish Apple were a little less controlling with the hole music business, and let me have propper access to the files, but its like anything else, you need to take the good with the bad, and fortunately there is a lot of good in Ios, indeed I have to confess that those Priests of Apple who think every decision Apple make is Godly and always right sort of worry me a bit :d. Still, Id always recommend Ios, just for the amount of
stuff available if nothing else. Btw, as to Android, Ill confess i never even considered! android as a platform or had any interest in trying it because of all the stuff available for Ios. This isnt to say I have anything against Android, Ive not tried it so I dont particularly know, although there are a few facts such as the need to get exactly! the right operating system and the fact you could get a phone with inaccessible default functions and need to basically redesign your os that rather worries me. If more games etc turn up for Android exclusively in the future I might look at Android more closely then, but currently Ill probably be sticking just with Ios.

I havent tried knfb reader yet.My favourite iOS gamesare all of the somethin else games, Nightjar and Papa 2 are good story driven while Audio Defence is just a fun zombie battle fest. However, I really, really also like the games from Choice of Games.Lets move to Voiceover in general. Pretty fun, although when using the Facebook app it sometimes loses focus, but seriously, I love the way that this screen reader works, and the growing amount of apps that support it. I like how TapTapSee auto reads, and I really liked the way that VoiceOver worked in the game called A Dark Room.

@DarkStay on iOS for some other days. Android is advancing on improving accessibility, but yet it leaves some things to be desired. Another screen reader which is being developed these days is surpassing the native screen reader called Talkback. and that is something good to hear, although it makes me turn my eyes to google and ask them, what are you doing mates? Re: apple device owners this topic is for you.

@Afrim, My comment on Android was just because it was mentioned earlier. To be honest while I have nothing against Android at all, and do hope that more access fixes happen in the future as well as more ports of games, (it is a great shame that Android users cant get access to Kodp), I have no interest in Android personally. If a hole bunch of really awesome games that did not have Ios versions, or some amazingly unique features not replicated on Ios came to Android then! I would look into the platform, but that isnt the case currently. @Aaron, I do agree about vo support in aps. One thing I love about Ios is that when a partly accessible game turns up you can just say to a developer enable voiceover and then the dev can see for himself/herself just what needs tdoing access wise. Of course there is the annoying canvasting and the like, as well as arsy developers who dont give a monkeys about access, but it has so much potential, look at Kodp, a
dark room and adventure to fate not to mention the Choice script games as you said. Which one is tap tap see? is that the one that reads barcodes or the one where someone will identify something for you. I liked that idea, though I thought the idea of trying to take photos with your phone could be a bit problematic. I will say I love! blind square and really ought to investigate some other satnav aps especially sinse it looks like Ill be trecking down to London quite a bit this year.

Re: apple device owners this topic is for you.

Well, audio ducking has been a major mes on Android at least... Depends on the app in question. Some apps will just stop the audio of an app, such as tune in if a radio station is playing. Though, that I suspect is a Talkback specific issue.Since web views on Android have been decouppled from the apps themselves with 5.0 and later, things are a bit better, but only if your Android device gets 5.0 or later, or if not, ya gotta root it.Audio editing app, such as BossJock, will never come to Android. And although Wavepad does work as an audio editor I guess, way! too many unlabeled buttons. The only screen readers that can export labels, are Shine Plus, and Galaxy Talkback, (which seems to now be called Voice Assistant) so not to have confusion with the official Talkback. IOS has had labeling support since 6.0 I think, and although I aint sure if you can export them, you really dont need them to be exported, do
to how well their apps are designed, and how well the devs take care in making them VoiceOver-friendly to blind users.

Re: apple device owners this topic is for you.

Has the html thing been fixed with talkback? I do recall a while ago someone posting an article that stated Talkback had issues with your bog standard html pages, which is why adding access on Android to lots of things was problematic, indeed Ive heard people complain about the Cog/hg titles on android and sinse those are just standard html I do wonder on this one. Equally however that article was from some time ago and matters might have changed, and of course Ive not tried Android myself as I said.Getting back to Ios, speaking of audio dediting, one thing which has been problematic with some Ios versions but Im pleased to say seems %100 fixed now and is a great feature is the ability vo has to automatically volume down the actual playing sound or music while it is doing the speaking. This is wonderful for games like Audio defense and King of dragon pass, and now seems to be working even in games like Lost cities. I dont know how much of this
is a function developers need to add specifically to their programs or whether it is an automatic part of vo, (adventure to fate seemed fine without any special programming regarding the background music volume), but its a little feature I do rather appreciate.

Re: apple device owners this topic is for you.

The other problem with Android apps, besides the deal with labeling buttons, is more and more of them apps require at least Android 4.4 and later to work functionally well with Talkback and/or Shine Plus, another screen reader which seems to work a bit better than TB in many app.sWith that being said, Talkback 4.30 will be in the playstore as a beta once Android 6 comes out.One thing that iOS does extremely well, even though I myself do not have a device yet from Apple, is audio editing. That, is something Android truly lacks as of now, in the accessibility department.
