I had already built a habit of using the run dialog and escape trick because of the older version of whatsap, so I didn't know it existed, or if I did, I simply just brought back focus to the stream window and didn't think twice about it. So since Jayde didn't know about the desktop workaround, he chose to use file explorer. He could have used the start menu or the run dialog or even asked cortana to launch the program, but that was his first thought. There are more than 2 ways to launnch a program.@37 understandable. But at least I gave the clarification and did extensive testing to help the rest of you instead of ending with, well it works for me and I told you guys steps that work, so figure it out on your own. I did what I could, with the info I had, and as it changed, I changed with it. Once I figured out that opening a game should be done using file explorer, that clinched it. You acknowledged that your own instructions lacked clarity, but it would not be kind of me to say, "Thank you for finally editing your instructions into a form that other people can parse without reading your mind or making non-intuitive leaps".At this point, I am very happy that there's a workaround that does what I originally asked for, so thank you very much for the attention to detail and the willingness to test and retest to ensure viability. It will then place you into the desktop. Also a bonus trick, you can switch to different folders in the window you are streaming without it breaking. So if you start streaming in your documents folder, you can still move to the nvda folder in that window and the stream won't break. Re: Discord Streaming Fun Okay, so I was doing other things for a large part of the day and didn't have a chance to try the updated version of this trick, but I have since confirmed that if you do exactly what Zarvox says, this should work. I successfully had NVDA and manamon running. The problem I was running into before is that I was using the desktop and the manamon shortcut there, and that would screw with the stream. This time, I navigated to VG Storm's folder, and then the manamon folder, via the file tree in file explorer. Takes a little longer, but it also means the stream doesn't break. Re: Discord Streaming Fun This is the rewritten version of post 23. My friend and I have done extensive testing on the pause issue, and here are the results. Spoiler, it is the same results for the older version of whatsap, they have since fixed it.Once you start streaming, you must bring focus back to the explorer window immediately for your stream to work for the first time. Now, your stream will only go on pause if you access the desktop. You can open other apps, use the start menu, and pretty much do everything else without needing to focus on the explorer window ever again. It doesn't matter how many windows are open between discord and the explorer window, or the explorer window and the current application. Order isn't an issue. So if you do go to the desktop, you will have to refocus your explorer window to unpause the stream. However, there is a workaround to escape this desktop error. Again, it works with the older version of whatsap as well. Hitting windows r to go to the run dialog then pressing escape will put you into the desktop without pissing anything off. So just do that every time you want to visit the desktop, and you're good!Hopefully there will be no more issues for people. Re: Discord Streaming Fun oh and also you need to keep this in mind. If you are streamign manamon, of course you're going to be focused on the manamon window the whole time, or the majority. But if you are using this method, you're thought process is to stream the window and not look at it ever again. Well that's a problem, because discord wants you to be focused on it. So to make it work, without being paused, limit the amount of windows you have open on your computer, and make sure the window you are streaming is only 1 or 2 applications away from the currently focused app. You can't just setup the streaming window and ignore it. Perhaps check your nvda sound output device. Make sure it is on microsoft soundmapper, I think that is what you should use. Restarting it from the nvda dialog, the desktop shortcut, or any other way does not work because all of those methods run nvda slave.exe instead of nvda.exe, so it isn't a full restart. So easiest way is right click on nvda desktop icon and select show in folder. Then launch nvda.exe, not the slave. You can do this before or after you start streaming, it doesn't matter. Your nvda speech will go through until you restart nvda any other way. Both are playable, but to me, SAPI is far inferior for just this reason. I want to click when I'm ready, skip what I wish and blast through the game at my own speed. Moving around is fine, but menus are slower, and most of manamon is menuing to one degree or another. Tupperbot is a bot dedicated to replacing user messages to emulate having multiple accounts.This bot has its multiple uses, including the most obvious being for role-playing. In the server I'm in, we like to RP as characters from games she's played on her channel (mostly visual novels). I only knew it out of context cause I used Better Discord.The documentation doesn't say anything about the console or dev but you can enable it under appearance. Apparently you ave a 0.1% change or something like that of it just playing on start when in a voice call. I didn't know enough to predict it, but I'm not surprised that broke.Case insensitive paths are a feature of NTFS only. On other platforms, or even other filesystems on Windows, the case has to match or else. Keybase does weird filesystem things, in some cases even setting up a fake filesystem of its own.I wouldn't get into trying to write non-recursive versions of functions. There's nothing wrong with recursion and the non-recursive version is usually more complicated. Often, the non-recursive version even uses the same amount of memory and time, as well. I made the lowercase only occur in the if statement like shown in post 12 and it now plays.@11 thanks for the suggestion. Didn't think lowercase would matter. I also reinserted os.path.join() in the search_system function just to be safe.Now that this issue is solved, I have another less concerning matter. The current function I use to search for files only supports 1 layer of subdirectories. How would I modify this function to search every single subdirectory with multiple layers from the starting path? And is there a way to make this function non recursive? I noticed that you do a lot of str.lower, which could cause issues. To verify your path exists, you can do os.path.isfile to ensure that you're giving the function correct filename.
