I have a couple computers that do this, and this will be really useful. Thanks sam.

Re: quietstream and mousecat, maybe at least one person's solution?

I think both. On the plus side though, most decent laptops have mouse detection to stop the pad. Investigate yours first and see if you can't disable it via a shortcut first because if so, that's the better way.

Re: quietstream and mousecat, maybe at least one person's solution?

I'm definitely going to bookmark that link, because disabling a touchpad can be a pain depending on the laptop in question, and this will be another useful thing to try.Ironcross, instead of uninstalling the driver for your mouse, try updating it to something else, such as a hid compatible mouse instead of a ps/2 mouse. This will require you to reboot every time you want to enable or disable it, but at least on my current system, does a very good job shutting it off.

Re: quietstream and mousecat, maybe at least one person's solution?

Yep, Carter wrote just what I was about to. Input lock has a bit of a bug where it does lock the touchpad, however let's say after about a minute, the first gesture will always work, but then it remains locked. For example, you do nothing with it for a minute, and touch it, that slight touch is registered but then it remains locked properly. Additionally, you can allow clicks to remain enabled. Bluetooth audio works great, and is better honestly because I don't want the standby feature completely disabled, however I do want a longer duration before it kicks in and you can customize it from it's settings.

Re: quietstream and mousecat, maybe at least one person's solution?

There's already both input lock and bluetooth audio that do what you're wanting. Might be a good idea to give them a look before writing another add-on.

Re: quietstream and mousecat, maybe at least one person's solution?

having a hotkey would be a plus for times when you need it, like if it disables all mouse event, that probably breaks Golden Cursor or just NVDA's normal route and click stuff. OK I'll get off my ass and test it.EDIT: Partial success. It blocks mouse events, but not the gestures. I didn't expect it to and hopefully I can uninstall Asus Smart Gesture and it will not come back lol.

Re: quietstream and mousecat, maybe at least one person's solution?

@ironcross please lmk if it doesn't work for you and I can try to fix it. I may release an update soon to force it to keep rehooking if the hook gets broken. I think relying on 1 hook staying hooked is a bad idea, so right now it may intermittently break and cause issues. I'll post here if I update it. And yeah I had the same general issue, I like, can not disable it lol. I tried killing the driver but that doesn't work, also tried looking up how to do it with my model and couldn't figure it out lol. I'm sure there is a way but it was just easier to use this thing, it certainly does the job. However if you find a way to actually disable your pad, you may want to do that because this will block all mouse events, which could cause some issues ocasionally. Maybe I can add a hotkey you can press to disable/reenable it, or maybe I will rewrite it as an NVDA addon you can install, as well as the quietstream thing.

Re: quietstream and mousecat, maybe at least one person's solution?

My second laptop I've been fighting to disable the touchpad for ages. It pisses me off. Some say Fn + F9 should do it but it doesn't. I've tried disabling it in device manager, the option isn't there, deleting it and all associated things, it just registers as a PS/2 mouse and continues working. In windows 10, under settings > devices > touchpad, on my new laptop I can disable it, on the older one, that option is missing. So I'll have to test that out on it.

Re: quietstream and mousecat, maybe at least one person's solution?

Those are some strange issues. I've never experienced the audio problem before on a laptop, but I have ran into similar problems when using bluetooth. The problem was related to the headphones  themselves though. As far s the touchpad goes, I have mine disabled through the device manager as well. (along with the touch screen since I've done some annoying things by accident with it) Glad you found a solution though.

It's different for each computer model for both of those though. I tried disabling the driver and it didn't do a thing. Not sure if that function key will do that on my laptop, I think that is actually mute here.
