Re: suggestions for new powerful laptop
Re: suggestions for new powerful laptop Im surprised why dont you consider dell computers. My close friend has had a del laptop for 6 years and no technical problem yet. Also one of my relatives has a dell desktop which has been in existence for more than seven or eight years. At the time it was extremely expensive and he states that he hardly ever needed to go to any service for any problem. Re: suggestions for new powerful laptop
Re: suggestions for new powerful laptop IIRC, the XPS 13 is more of an ultrabook than a laptop. This makes a difference for you because its designed to look badass and light, I think it also has a touchscreen, but its also using the lower-end intel CPUs designed for low power usage. For gaming, youll want to look at things that have at least a Core I7 and more importantly discreet graphics. While the integrated intel HD graphics are getting better they still arent on the level of an actual graphics card. And Id also second the suggestion to have an SSD. Something else to consider, if youre not planning to move a lot and will be using this laptop as your primary system in one location, you will most likely be able to get a gaming desktop with much better specifications for the same price and probably wont have to deal with overheating issues... Re: suggestions for new powerful laptop Since this is the audiogames.net forum afterall, I didnt consider that it would be used for mainstream games. Re: suggestions for new powerful laptop
Re: suggestions for new powerful laptop I have to agree with several others here by asking, Why not Dell?In 2006, my employer issued to me a Dell Latitude D830 laptop as my primary work computer. While at the office, Id plug it into a docking station that connected a full size monitor, mouse, and keyboard to the laptop as well as connecting it to the companys network. I was so impressed with the laptop, that when I decided to switch from a desktop to a laptop for my personal system, I bought the very same make and model. It still works as well now as it did when I first bought it eight years ago and has never given me any trouble.Plus theres Alienware, they are well known for their high performance desktops and laptops designed for gaming. Alienware is a part of Dell. Re: suggestions for new powerful laptop
Re: suggestions for new powerful laptop Im highly amused that Smooth Gunner specifically mentioned he didnt want a Dell, and, sure enough, the two suggestions that follow contain Dells. My girlfriend has a Toshiba Satellite that seems pretty powerful and durable. Whatever you do though, and assuming you have the budget for it, get a laptop with an SSD. Its less heat, fewer moving parts, and lower power consumption.Sonys are pretty good, but theyre so expensive for the configuration. What I would actually do is go on Amazon or Newegg, plug in the features you want in their filtering system, then look at any models that interest you, checking on reviews and such.If you want it for gaming, I wouldnt get a smaller laptop either. Physics would suggest that a smaller laptop has less room for heat distribution, so stick with a 15.4 inch screen or larger. Im sure you would be fine with a 13 inch laptop, but for longevitys sake with respect to gaming, bigger mig ht be better.Kai URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=220816#p220816 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: suggestions for new powerful laptop
Re: suggestions for new powerful laptop Widely enough, Laptops are not a good suggestion for games. That has been suggested for years. I dont really have a specific suggestion, but Id recommend laptops which are produced by these three companies, certainly HP, Acer and Dell. Samsung is rather good.Anyway whichever laptop you buy, good luck with it. Re: suggestions for new powerful laptop
Re: suggestions for new powerful laptop Look at laptop reviews from technology sites. One that ive heard very good things about is the XPS 13. Its light, but has outstanding performance and battery life.
