translated from a persian website by google translate, with some edits from yours trewly.Who told me this story swears that it is real.He explained that one night, when he was returning from his father's house somewhere between Gilan and Ardabil, (2 of iran's cities) he remembered his father's words that the old road is more beautiful and that it's passing through the middle of the forest! so Instead of moving to the main road, he turned his way to the old, forested road!He himself described it like so."I ... believed my father's words and turned off to the dirt road. I was twenty kilometers away from the main road when suddenly my car shut off and nothing I did would not turn it back on. In the middle of the forest, it's getting dark, and it's raining. I came out and phitteled with the engin a little; but soon I saw that not only I was getting wet, I don't know sh*t about car engines!so I took the dirt road walking, and continued on my way thru the middle of the forest. It was raining hard. I was exhausted from walking when a voice, startled me. I wipd around and what I saw was, a very quiet car. slowly moving next to me.I promptly jumped in. I was so wet and tired I didn't even think to look in the car. When I sat down in the back seat, I raised my head to thank the driver, but I saw that no one is behind the weal or the front seat!I was very scared. I was coming to myself when suddenly the car started moving quietly down the rode again.I hadn't gathered myself yet when I saw a sharp turn ahead in the flash of lightning! My whole body was frozen in fear. I couldn't even scream! The car was going towards the clyf continually. I was waiting for death when I saw my dead grandfather beside me. he reached into the car and turned the weall to the rode just in time!I didn't understand how long it took for me to come to my senses. But every time the car went to the clyf or the mountain, a hand would come and turn the weal.I saw a light from a distance and did not hesitate for a second. I opened the door and threw myself out. I was running so fast that I was short of breath. I ran to the village where the light was coming from. I went to the coffee shop and promptly fell to the ground unconscious. when I came too, I told the story to the people there. When it was over, all was silent for a few seconds. at this time, the door opened and too men came in, dripping wet.One of them shouted: Muhammad, look! This is that dot dot dot guy who jumped in to our car when we were pushing it!

Re: urban legends

There is a common legend told to children in Mexico. It's called La Llorona. The story tells of a married woman whose husband fell out of love with her. The two, the woman and her husband, had two children. There are some variations, but the common one is that her husband cheated on her, leading her to drown their children out of spite. She then proceeds to drown herself. She is said to roam rivers in Mexico, in search of her children. There is also an interesting one that comes from the city in which I grew up in Texas. It is said that a train ran into a school bus one evening, killing about 10 children. Some drivers tell of experiences in which they find themselves on the train tracks in which the accident took place, and if they would turn off their vehicle for a moment, the drivers would feel forces pushing against their vehicle, seemingly away from the train tracks. When the drivers examine their vehicles some time later, they tell of hand prints being seen, presumably from the ghostly children that roam the tracks.Edit:Oh, and another one I forgot to mention is an account told to me by one of my family members, who lives in Mexico. Keep in mind, I'm generally skeptical about some of these things, but that doesn't mean they're not fun to listen to. Anyway, my family member was traveling down a desolate road one night, when all of a sudden, he encountered a young woman. This young woman was in the most unlikely of places. My family member stopped to ask if she was lost and needed help. The young woman replied she did, and that she was trying to get home.My family member gave her a ride to her supposed home and dropped her off without getting out of his vehicle. He went home for the night, good deed in hand for the day. He got the idea the next day to return to the young woman's home to make sure she arrived safely. My family member arrived at her house, and came face-to-face with her father. My family member asked her father if the young woman, his daughter, was fine. The father told him that his daughter had died a year ago, and that she never made it home.

Re: urban legends

Hi.Well I have something more light hearted, I don't know if this actually happened, but if not, it's still considered an urban legend. For the engineers among us who understand that the obvious is not always the solution, and that the facts, no matter how implausible, are still the facts ... A complaint was received by the Pontiac Division of General Motors: "This is the second time I have written you, and I don't blame youfor not answering me, because I kind of sounded crazy, but it is a fact that we have a tradition in our family of ice cream for dessert after dinner each night. But the kind of ice cream varies so, every night, after we've eaten, the whole family votes on which kind of ice cream we should have and I drive down to the store to get it. It's also a fact that I recently purchased a new Pontiac and since then my trips to the store have created a problem. You see, every time I buy vanilla ice cream, when I start back from the store my car won't start. If I get any other kind of ice cream, the car starts just fine. I want you to know I'm serious about this question, no matter how silly it sounds: 'What is there about a Pontiac that makes it not start when I get vanilla ice cream, and easy to start whenever I get any other kind?'" The Pontiac President was understandably sceptical about the letter, but sent an engineer to check it out anyway. The latter was surprised to be greeted by a successful, obviously well-educated man in a fine neighbourhood. He had arranged to meet the man just after dinner time, so the two hopped into the car and drove to the ice cream store. It was vanilla ice cream that night and, sure enough, after they came back to the car, it wouldn't start. The engineer returned for three more nights. The first night, the man got chocolate. The car started. The second night, he got strawberry. The car started. The third night he ordered vanilla. The car failed to start. Now the engineer, being a logical man, refused to believe that this man's car was allergic to vanilla ice cream. He arranged, therefore, to continue his visits for as long as it took to solve the problem. And toward this end he began to take notes: he jotted down all sorts of data, time of day, type of gas used, time to drive back and forth, etc. In a short time, he had a clue: the man took less time to buy vanilla than any other flavour. Why? The answer was in the layout of the store. Vanilla, being the most popular flavour, was in a separate case at the front of the store for quick pickup. All the other flavours were kept in the back of the store at a different counter where it took considerably longer to find the flavour and get checked out. Now the question for the engineer was why the car wouldn't start when it took less time. Once time became the problem -- not the vanilla ice cream -- the engineer quickly came up with the answer: vapour lock. It was happening every night, but the extra time taken to get the other flavours allowed the engine to cool down sufficiently to start. When the man got vanilla, the engine was still too hot for the vapour lock to dissipate. Moral of the story: even insane-looking problems are sometimes real. Greetings Moritz.

OK then.so in 1981, a mysterious arcade game was discovered in Portland, Oregon. the game, called polybius, was very adictive, but also came with some psicological, but not necisarily life threatening side affects: night terrors among the most common. some say it was part of a social experiment by the US government and was linked to Project MK ultra. I still believe that legend to this day, my brother sited it last year in Astoria Oregon, where it was sould to a collector. needless to say the arcade where it was sited closed some months later. so there, nobody died from the game (at least not directly), worst case senario you lose your job.

Here's another one. This is about a dream. If you fall in the dream, you will die in real life. You are in some kind of village. Your initial feelings that this is any normal village quickly change as you see the ground is covered with corpses. After a while, a group of girls run up to you. They explain that in this village, if you fall, you die. They begin to walk away, but one of the girls trips and falls, basically dying instantly. Most people who have the dream report nothing unusual, fortunately.

Re: urban legends

ok, I don't know any, but lemme try come up with oneSo there was this one game machine at the arcade in 1980. It was a small machine, and it had a very strange game on it. No one ever knew what the game was, because most people were too afraid to play it. It had a bloody picture of a ghost in the side, and the government, for some reason, refused to have it taken away. There was one eager gamer that did play it though. He heard a strange noise, and then both him and the machine vanished. So it was said that he's now going through eternal tourment, facing death if he fails to complete even one challenge. But that idn't make any sense to anyone. What happened to him when he reached level 257?

Re: urban legends

An example, one of the most popular ones is a poem that, if read aloud, is supposed to cause a lot of nasty stuff to happen to the reader. Other "cursed" stories usually involve dreams you'll get stuck with after reading them.

Re: urban legends

Here is one from Japan.Once, a girl decided she wanted to have her ears pierced because all the other girls were doing it. She begged her parents to let her, but they said no. Finally, because they knew children tended to disobey their parents, they gave in. They gave her money to get her ears pierced at the mall. This girl thought she could save some money and get a friend to do the job for free. They were very careful, and it seemed to work. The girl showed off her ear rings to everyone she met. One day, while in class, she noticed the area around the ear ring was itching a lot. She went to the restroom to check it out. The area around the ear ring was red, and she could see a white string hanging out from behind the ear ring. She tried to pull the string out, but it just kept getting longer. Finally, she grabbed a pair of scissors from her bag and cut the string. Everything went black. Later the girl went to the doctor. The doctor told her she was now blind. You see, that was no string she cut. It was her optic nerve.

Re: urban legends

The one that I know of is drekavac, it's this screaming child thing that lives on the edge of the forest and lures children in with its screams I guess? There are also a few vampire stories, but I can't really remember how any of them went exactly.
