The OP didn't even offer any points of discussion, just dropped it there and dipped out. That's the part that I have a problem with, because that post has done a lot of harm to the community.Back when it happened, I was thrilled. Some people seem to harbor the opinion that this was of my doing, or at least, that I was involved in it in some way. This isn't true, but as I say, I was thrilled at the time. I felt and still to some degree do feel that my first ban was a little unfair, and I was reveling in the savage delight that someone finally took these mother fuckers to their knees. I loved the chaos, and it brought me an immense amount of joy to see them scrambling.When Jayde stepped into his role as a moderator, I was not at all sure of him. That turned to outright certainty after only a few of his moderation actions. Not only was I now unsure that he was unqualified, I was damn sure he wasn't. I quickly grew to hate him to the point where reading one of his posts sent me to the point where I was almost about to break something.I felt a warmth spread from my core out to all my extremities and I just wanted to break the nearest object to me. I wanted to punch, kic, flay, burn, just about anything. I was convinced that he was an authoritarian who got his rocks off by powertripping hard on people. From then until now though, my attitude towards him has calmed quite considerably. I still don't like some of the things he does, and I don't necessarily agree with every moderation he performs. I also don't agree with him politically, and hold to my disagreement with certain mod actions even when politics aren't involved. But the point is, I got over my initial hatred of him. Style is a preference, it's something that makes us gel with someone or not. All in all though, he's a pretty good moderator.So many users are still holding onto their feelings a little too harshly. I do not wish to attempt to speak for others, but let's just say anything raging from more than a mild dislike to all out hatred for how those initial few scenarios were handled isn't helping things in the present. Sometimes, the staff can take the liberty to listen to the community, other times they can't or won't, depending on the situation. When we as a whole are still holding onto strong feelings, it makes our opinions heavily weighted, and thus, unreliable. Not only that, but there is no order to be found when something comes up. The loud ones scream and throw fire, and we never know what the quiet ones want because we're so busy listening to the loud ones that we skip over, or skim the quiet ones' posts.Here's where we're at now. The ones who hold onto their prejudice are causing harm to the community at large. They do so, willingly or not, because their vocal posts tends to bring things into question a little too much. Even if they don't admit it publicly, I'm sure they have caused some of the staff to question their decisions. I can think of certain staff members who are more or less susceptible to this. But when it happens all the time, it thickens their armor to such things.This is bad because it means that you've overused your power. It also may very well mean that staffers are less likely to take community input into consideration into account depending on their disposition. Don't get me wrong, I still do believe in questioning questionable decisions, but there is a way in which to do so that carries a modicum of respect with it, while still conveying that you're not quite sure what happened was for the best. If you find yourself in the position where you feel this is something you want to do, you might take into consideration whether or not it's really worth it. I've seen quite a lot of this behavior, and it really does more harm than good. Not only that, but you're really cutting down on your effectiveness if you challenge every decision made and not save it for others that matter more. Back when I joined, somewhere in 2014, my English was a piece of crap. Nowadays I have improved, which does not mean that my spelling is perfect. If someone tells me hey man, this is really funny, you don't spell it like this but instead like that, I would not take any offense to that. But if someone is like, ha, ha, you wrote this incorrectly, that is honestly stupid and doesn't give anybody a chance to improve. You know what? I myself like making fun of words which are spelled incorrectly or weird grammar structures. There's one difference though, I do it with a group of friends for who I know won't be offended by this or mind it at all, and where we do it to each other all the time. In fact just recently I went through my old posts on this forum and made fun of them, saying god, how did people understand me and tried to help me. If you want to mention something incorrect in English, at least mention how it should be done as well to help the poster improve. I mean if you guys really want me to I could put this topic to the rest of the staff and then we all decide what to do, but I also don't see it as a big deal as this was resolved years back. Dark's now a staff writer, we've got the very active Jayde, we did unfortunatley lose Nocturnus and Aprone as moderators and possibly in the case of Aprone I think he's left the forum. But we do still work as a team, I'd say even more so now, and as you've seen we're hoping to get some new staff/mods which will mean more teamwork as well.
