@jade heck yeah. Its great fun. I'M not sure whats the stunt called, but I did a stunt which you have the airplane flat in the air, then you pull back on the nose up a bit, while maintaining the plane flat. You then make the plane off balance by tilting the left or right wing; depending on your choosing; causing the aircraft to not be flat as before; this followed by cutting power to the engine so that its just idling, and at the same time, pushing the nose of the aircraft down, causing the plane to enter a spiral descent. Basically, you cause the Aircraft to stall do to losing suspension. It was a heck of a lot of fun for sure lol

Re: What profession would you have pursued if you could see?

As it happens, I have flown planes before. Three or four times. I was allowed to steer and control airspeed and whatnot once we got up in the air. I absolutely loved it. Learned how to do a vertical loop, which, for the uninitiated, will actually flood the engine of a small plane (like the one I was in) and cause it to very briefly stall. Great, great fun.

Re: What profession would you have pursued if you could see?

I just have to say I know a blind guy who works for the FBI, is often armed, and if the grapevine tells me the truth has come back from assignments with real injuries. I understand the point of this post, and Dark's obviously right about there being finite limitations but I can't help thinking we often sell ourselves short with these "what might have been" exercises. Still, what the hell, I'll play.1. Astronaut: While I actually think this one might be doable without sight soon, probably more than an airline pilot or front line combat soldier, the tech isn't quite here yet and I always wanted to do this growing up. Still, many kids dream about going into space and obviously only a few ever have so it's ok.2. eSports: I'm actually a little bitter about this one and I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet. I'd love to play StarCraft or Call of duty for money, come on. Don't we all have some video game or other we'd love to be good enough at to play professionally?

Well, despite my mother telling me repeatedly that I would be quite different if I had sight, I insist that personality wise, I still would have been same, just little bit more outgoing, rather than a reclusive guy I am currently now.As for what I would like to do? that is a loaded question. there are many things I would have liked to do if I had eyes. for one, become a physicist, you know the guys who get to appear on the programs of Discovery and explain the workings of the universe? I would have loved to be one of them.Perhaps a scientist? I always liked things about science, (Even if I did not payed any attention to my school class of science, since it was quite boring and not exciting at all.)Perhaps a full fledged game developer, since I wouldn't have the limitation of graphics on me anymore. not that I can't program now, considering I am learning to do it currently, but it would have been more easier.Maybe, I would have pursued a career in sports, mainly Cricket or Chess. And why not, since I have already build such a list, might as well throw professional wrestling there as well.Of course, since I do think there are multiverses, I do think that one version of me or another most likely is currently living in the professions which I just described.

@jade, well... 3 is still a possibility if you know someone who is a pilot and he / she lets you have control of said aircraft while in flight so that you can feel what its like. I've done it, although I recognice not everyone has those opportunities. If you ever get the chance though; take it. I mean, its like driving. I've been curious about how its like to drive a car before, if I ask someone, and if the place is safe, that is, not many cars; if at all; I can do it. Its the same with flying, I mean, nothing wrong with having curiosity about things like this.Btw, when i've said i've flone before, only with pilots that have their own aircrafts. If that's the case jade, and your curious, and you have a close friend or know someone who owns their own aircraft; it doesn't hurt to ask.

It's hard to say, but here are a few of mine:1. A teacher. Oh, I could've taught as a blind person, and still enjoy the act of doing so in a smaller setting, but it would definitely have been easier if I could've taught a class with working eyes. Probably middle to high school, or even college level. Not quite so interested in teaching young children.2. A police officer. If I'd been sighted and also stayed in good shape, I could've seen myself enjoying this job immensely, dangerous though it undoubtedly can be.3. A pilot. I actually did want to be a pilot as a child, but even then I knew it wasn't likely without working eyes.4. An astronaut. Seriously, space is cool, guys.

Perhaps some rides might not be suited to ahve on-board audio though.  Yeah, heavily themed attractions are usually the ones to get on—board/in-queue audio,  but I’ve heard of it being used on a few more traditional style attractions as well (i.e  Hollywood rip ride rocket and Hollywood dream at Universal Parks, blue fire at Europa park,  and  most of the rides at Thorpe Park and Alton Towers).   The latter two ( Thorpe Park and Alton Towers)  are actually pretty close to your description of a park with audio for all the rides (as far as I know, all the major ones have audio).  Definitely agree that it gives the rides a unique identity (in the case of Thorpe Park and Alton Towers, they can make even the more typical/mundane attractions pretty exciting).  Would love to see (or should I say here) more parks follow their lead.      Getting back on topic,  my answer isn’t all that exciting.    In the grand scheme of things,   I’m not sure if  work would be all that different  with full site.  I might be in a different field, but would probably still be working some kind of office job,  though.

I'd be bat man!And no, I don't mean I'd go into acting to play Bat Man... whether it means I would want to join the FBI, CIA or some other secret forces group so that I actually carried out my operations on a legal level, that's what I'd do.  I"ve always enjoyed meticulously planning, trying to get myself out of tight situations, helping others out of tight situations, and as I see it, super psycho hardcore law enforcement would be the most legal way to do it.  Maybe it's Army, Navy, Airforce, not entirely certain, but that's where I"d be.  Maybe it's just acquiring as much of all of that training as I can and... I dunno, figuring out how to use it in starting a private organization that ends up being contracted by law enforcement to do specific tasks... I haven't gotten that far.

Without reading any of the posts in here:Generally, i can't comment on what I would become if I could see, how my personality would be, or this kind of questions because a lot of things are different when someone like me who has no vision at all is able to see. But here's what at least I'd like to be if I could see:video game developer, piano player, climber and generally going into the nature and wondering around. I think being a football player would sound fun though, at my current state I just prefer friendly football playing not those official matches.Even though i can't see I'm proud to claim that I'm at least in a middle level on some of these such as piano playing, game developing(audio games though, ), and I have climbed mountains before with the aid of relatives, and have a bit of experience with goalball(Well not that much similar to football, but it still has the ball so that kinda counts ).

I can't say exactly. Though you specifically asked for this not to be depressing, I can't help but think that my life would have taken an entirely different path, perhaps better or worse, had I been able to grind XP so to speak, by working in the standard jobs everyone starts in. You know, retail, fast food, those types of things. I wish I'd had those building blocks. But as for completely unrealistic things? Maybe a pilot, even a long-haul truck driver. Something that wouldn't allow me to stay in place for too long of a time. I know those are distinctly non female-centric jobs, but I think that, even if I'd been born with sight, my personality wouldn't allow for me to achieve contentedness for a long period of time, that I'd need the thrill of the new just as surely as a junkie needs their next fix. So, in other words, I'd be the complete opposite of what I am now.

My dreams are quite simple actually. If I had sight I would move to New York City and become a Lyft/Uber driver. Given the extremely large population I'd probably have thousands of dollars coming in every month, and I would never have to get a regular old 9-5 ever again unless something stopped me from driving. Unfortunately, something is stopping me from driving. I don't think they'd give a drivers licence to someone who can't see a car until it's a couple inches away from his face.

Okay, no beating around the bush, there are some vocations, that is actual paid jobs, that a blind person simply  cannot do due to lack of eyeballs, in the same way a paraplegic person cannot be a premier league footballer, or a totally deaf person cannot be a piano tuner.this is not about jobs that you would do if some git would give you the chance, or could do with some adaptations, or might do with some technological alterations, this is simply a "what if" topic meant for a little harmless speculation.Neither is it intended to make anyone depressed about what they're doing now, since as anyone knows, despite all the things persons of reduced visibility cannot! do, there are innumerable things one can! do, or find a way to do. Be as wild as you like, formula one racing driver, Astronaut,   calligrapher, this is not about what could be, but what you might  have wanted to do in some alternative reality assuming working optics and decisions worked out correctly. Myself, I have always loved the idea of being a paramedic. I'm from a very medical family, , and from an early age have had a keen interested in biology, especially biochemistry. I also love the idea of a job which is absolutely different everywhere and where you need to make instant decisions and adapt to situations, where each day you could be dealing with anything from a burn victim, to a premature baby, to a heart attack, and need to think on your feet and know what skills to put into play. it'd be a high pressure job undoubtedly, and one which would require me to deal with people, but it's one I've  liked the idea of.. Interestingly enough, both Mrs. Dark and my mum could see me as a higher level microsurgeon, perhaps an ocular or brain surgeon, since it requires fine motor control, incredible knowledge, and an aptitude with technology, particularly these days where the manipulators and virtual interfaces of surgical systems are almost like controls of aeroplanes.I like the idea, though I do confess I have always had a bit of an adrenaline thing, it's one reason I love stage performing so much, so whether I'd prefer surgery or emergency medicine I'm not sure exactly.
