Re: can I stream audio files useing py team talk by Carter Temm Also. Here's another way people have music streaming bots. They run a media service, then use Virtual Audio Cable, or something similar, to stream through a TT Client. There's a spotify bot that searches for the media and then will play it through the cable. IDK where to get it but I know it exists somewhere.Hope this helps URL: https://forum.audiogames.net/post/619222/#p619222 -- Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: The program for playing audio files by the key I can't really tell about libaudioverse, it worked on small games I made to test it, but on something bigger...I wouldn't be surprised though, its node system must be quite expensive to computation. From my tests, Bass is library with the best performance, even Fmod is quite laggy compared to it.The good thing about serializing dictionaries is, that their data structure is always the same. Thus you don't need to worry about breaking things, even in long term and with binary serializers, like pickle. Using it on whole classes should be considered carefully, but on dictionaries, it should work just fine.@16: I don't know about that, but there are:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet … mework-4.8andhttps://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet … mework-4.8The problem with ini files is, that they don't support nested structures, just basic settings. So you would be able to either serialize just simple homogeous dictionaries, for example composed of strings, or you'd need a serialize method for special objects, which would turn them into a deserializable string, which you could save into the ini file. Both can be achieved easily using LINQ, you don't need a serializer to do that.Best regardsRastislav URL: https://forum.audiogames.net/post/494400/#p494400 -- Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: The program for playing audio files by the key
Re: The program for playing audio files by the key @14, whatever it does is right but inefficient. FMOD and BASS do that a lot better IMO.As for serialization with PICKLE, I wouldn't do that if you want to be able to keep the code the same for the long term. Pickle is well known for breaking backwards compatibility when it likes. Re: The program for playing audio files by the key
Re: The program for playing audio files by the key Libaudioverse is, at least when I tried it out last, very inperformant and can get laggy and mess things up as soon as you play more than one sound at a time, even on higher end machines. It is also rather large in size (something larger than 1 MB, compared to BASS which is like 100 KB in size). But since you don't want to output too many things at once and don't need the HRTF capabilities of libaudioverse, it should still work for your purpose. Just go with the library you like best and feel comfortable with. Re: The program for playing audio files by the key @1: regarding sound I can send you my wrapper for libaudioverse, which turns its node based system into bgt style Sound object, so you can use basically the same methods as you would in BGT, like play, play_wait, play_looped, stop, etc. on Sound objects. It's asynchronous, it has support for selection of sound devices (although I have no idea, if you can list them as well) and it can play multiple sounds at once, though I didn't try if to multiple outputs at once as well.Of course it isn't really important which library you choose, i think most of the famous do equally well. You can go for bass in C#, there is a complete and nicely documented wrapper there. As for saving to ini files, why to bother with it? Just collect your keys in a dictionary, and then serialize it using pickle, or any other serialization library, if you want the output in yaml, json or xml.The same goes for C#, which has native xml as well as binary serializers. As for gui, I still like WxPython more than PyQt, but for such simple app, I think it doesn't really matter. Go with whichever syntax and tutorials you like more. Again, the same goes for C#, Winforms and WPF will both give you infact equal functionality, when it's primarily about catching keys. And like others pointed out already, you don't need to bother with multithreading either, your audio library should do it for you. And if you ever needed it for some reason, Python has built-in modules which... let say allow you to run two things at once, that should be enough. Until you keep your eye on ownership of individual threads and make sure that they have what they work with just for themselves, there is really nothing to worry about. Real problems appear, when two or more threads need to access the same memory, but you shouldn't really need that in this project.Best regardsRastislav URL: https://forum.audiogames.net/post/494303/#p494303 -- Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: The program for playing audio files by the key
Re: The program for playing audio files by the key @9, actually the termonology is correct. At the system level, there are two types of "tasks" that an operating system has: if the OS does not implement multithreading/concurrency, you have just "processes". If, on the other hand, you have multithreading/concurrency, you have "threads". A procss is pretty much a "thread". There's not much of a difference. The only major one is that a "thread" is usually started within a process, whereas a "process" is usually started from code stored in external storage. However, its trivial for the kernel to launch a process that does not follow this philosophy. Re: The program for playing audio files by the key
Re: The program for playing audio files by the key Well, the only problem with it is calling it threading, actually. Its nice to have blocking operations run simultaneously, although its technically just one thread, but it allows a bit flexibility if operations tike quite a long time before completing and you don't want to waste the time idling around. But thats already it. Re: The program for playing audio files by the key
Re: The program for playing audio files by the key @7, ah, I didn't know that. And yes, QT does support native threading (I've used it before in C++, its actually pretty badass) but entirely unnecessary. If youneed it, you should probably read a book on it or get someone to teach you it. Improperly threading an application canbe disastrous. And Python's threading is... just... yeah. Gross. Re: The program for playing audio files by the key
Re: The program for playing audio files by the key BASS supports it for sure, even to multiple devices at the same time. I however don't know if sound_lib does. Bass4Py does though.Threading in Python is... yeah, not impossible, but yeah. Since Asyncio exists now for Python 3, it got a bit better, but well... as Ethin said, threading is rather complicated and you should keep your hands away from it. Although Qt, should you decide to stick with it, supports native threading and also supports all required lock/mutex mechanisms to secure thread-safety, even in Python, and thats even pretty easy to achieve. Its however unnecessary when building such an easy application like yours. Re: The program for playing audio files by the key
Re: The program for playing audio files by the key Do not use threading for this. Just... no. Not sure where you thought that was a good idea, but it will be a waste of CPU cycles, CPU time and system resources. Audio playback (inn any good audio library and in any good OS-level audio subsystem) is asynchronous. As such, creating a thread here would be pointless. Furthermore, introducing threading to something like this will require you to *actually* learn how multithreading works and how to use it properly. That is difficult to grasp properly in a language like Python where semaphores, mutexes andsuch don't exist. Plus, multithreading is difficult either way; even expert programmers get it wrong. No one willget itright the first time, and it brings a ton of complexity and extra debugging time to the table. If you really do need it, use it, but I'd either use Cython or not use Python at all.I significantly doubt BASS supports playback to multiple devices. I know FMOD does (though you'll wantdifferent systems for each device). Re: The program for playing audio files by the key Its fine in most cases. It even supports additional attributes like accessible name and accessible descriptions, which will be recognized by screen readers to give additional information about controls and stuff. Qt has the ability to even set up nice-looking GUIs without you needing to give any information about the actual size and position. All you need to decide upon is the layout you want to have (vertical or horizontal, grid-based etc) and it will place the controls for you. Re: The program for playing audio files by the key Python should be just fine here. I'd however recommend using PyQt5 instead of wxPython, there are several in-depth tutorials out there and wxPython still got its problems at the time. If it comes to playing stuff to multiple devices, BASS should be your easiest option. Most people tend to use sound_lib here, although that one is rather outdated, but it seems to work. I don't know if sound_lib supports output to multiple devices however. You can also take a look into Bass4Py, but this one doesn't yet have a good documentation (its still in the works and currently being developed all new from scatch).Configuring via ini file... hm, Python supports multiple configuration possibilities, like ini files, json, pickling, whatever is best for your use case and with what you feel comfortable with. The program for playing audio files by the key Hello. My friend asked me to develop an application for his work. I decided that this is a very good idea, because I can use this as a portfolio. The tasks of the program are very simple. There is a main window. In this window I can get into the program settings through the menu. There I can choose a playback device.Further, in the program, I can press CTRL + any key. The audio file selection dialog opens. There, I should select an audio file.Further, when I press this key without CTRL, this file will be played on the device that is selected in the settings.I plan to do this through an ini file. It is correct? In addition, I would like to create a double thread. Output to the device selected in the program settings, and output to the playback device by default.I would like to create this in Python. What libraries should I use?And in any case, which libraries should I use with C#?Thanks in advance! Re: how can I convert audio files to vidio files for youtube HiI myself use a service which I found much better than tunestotube as I've tried both. It's audioship.io. There's no file size limit, but it's a paid service so you have to buy upload hours. They aren't expensive and that's why I'm so comfortable with it. Tunestotube does have a file size limit even in premium which I find so ridiculous imho.PS: audioship.io gives you a free 1 hour so you can try how good is this service. Re: how can I convert audio files to vidio files for youtube
Re: how can I convert audio files to vidio files for youtube Just thought I'd toss one more little valuable nugget in here. If you are converting with Reaper, use MKV. Leave everything else at defaults once you have selected the Video (ffmpeg/libav encoder.) and the MKV format. .WebM downsamples the audio, at least it did for me. I couldn't play the file so just uploaded it to Youtube and played it from there, thus noticed it so deleted and reuploaded as MKV. Re: how can I convert audio files to vidio files for youtube
Re: how can I convert audio files to vidio files for youtube If you use OBS to do live streams, no image is required. Youtube will process the stream once finished and make it available as an archived video soon after you finish your stream. As for TunesToTube, it does provide a watermark but this is in edition to the image that you have to upload along with the mp3 file if I understand it right. I think you could crop the image once it's uploaded to tunesToTube but as for doing it other ways, one would use PhotoShop or similar to crop as necessary then put the photo into the Video file with video editing software. You would have to have sighted assistance for sizing etc. There's no way around it. What kind of image you would embed would depend on the content of the video, obviously. Re: how can I convert audio files to vidio files for youtube
Re: how can I convert audio files to vidio files for youtube TunesToTube requires you to upload an MP3 file that is restricted to 50 MB and an image file. You could always go grab an image from Google Image Search and use that, but you could alternatively use Reaper as others have suggested. Open Reaper and choose the File menu then choose Batch File/Item Converter or press CTRL+shift+F. Then Choose the Add button and select the MP3 file you want to convert. You can set the output format either before or after you select your file or files. For this, you'll want to set the Output format to Video (ffmpeg/libav encoder.) Then set the format to AVI, MKV, WEBM or QT/MP4, which actually creates a .MOV file. For reference: YouTube supports the following video formats for upload: 3GPP, AVI, FLV, MOV, MPEG4, MPEGPS, WebM and WMV.Once you've set everything the way you want it, press the convert all button. Re: how can I convert audio files to vidio files for youtube
Re: how can I convert audio files to vidio files for youtube That's good to know about Tunes to Tube. For some reason, I thought I remembered hearing that it gives you a logo or something which just says that it was converted by them or something, but I could be wrong. I would be curious to know what kind of image one would embed into a video though, and how, if you don't have enough vision to select the image yourself, you'd go about making sure it's cropped and sized properly and all that. I definitely would want it to look presentable. Also, while this is a bit unrelated, what happens if one uses something like Obs to do live streams? Do those have to have an image attached as well? The only three video formats I see are .Webm, .LCF and .GIF. I have tried converting to all three of these formats and .LCF and .GIF take a very short time, so I'm going to make the educated guess that the one I need to let finish then try to upload to Youtube is the .Webm one. Re: How can I reduce the quality of audio files?
Re: How can I reduce the quality of audio files? For the technically inclined, you could use the command line Lame mp3 encoder with a batch file. There is also a free audio editor called Audacity that should be able to convert, but I"m not sure if it supports batch conversions. You could try other editors such as Gold Wave, but those are not free. Its demo will probably let you batch convert though, just be sure you use a sampling rate of 22050 HZ if you're going down to 64 kbps, as that will probably sound best. Gold Wave might want to use a sampling rate of 44100 which will make it sound worse at that low rate, that's why I explicitly say use 22050.If you want a specialized converter, try looking up free audio converters. There are many of these, so finding one that is easy to use that can batch convert shouldn't be hard. Just make sure it's legit. If it lists the formats it can support, then it is probably legit, but if it's just "easy wav2mp3" or something, I'd be careful. Re: How can I reduce the quality of audio files?
Re: How can I reduce the quality of audio files? I hate to be the bringer of overwhelming news... but most of the explanations in this topic are misleading. I will attempt to clear stuff up since I used to deal with this a ton when I was younger and didn't have 9 TB of storage space. aaron wrote:@tjt: if they are flac, try converting them to mp3 or ogg. For wav though you might want to preserve the quality. This does not apply to the op, but I'll elaborate here nonetheless because somebody is bound to read it and get false impressions about what Flac does.Basically, a wav file stores data as is. Imagine you are looking at a staircase with 50 steps. The wav file equivalent would be to store each step separately in its own section of the file.Flac is what we call a lossless format, which means that it by design is supposed to retain e verything the wav file had. So, you will never lose quality by compressing to Flac. Yet, Flac files are somehow smaller than wavs. This is because while wav just stores data on the fly, flac takes advantage of scientific algorithms such as linear predictive coding (Lpc) among other things. What these algorithms do is essentially predict what will come next. If the prediction is right, then it can just send an instruction to use rule X to get result Y. Thus, things that repeat or follow logical patterns can be compressed a lot, since you only have to store the pattern once, and any repetitions are predicted after that. If the predictions are wrong, however, then the process gets more complicated. What makes a format like Flac lossless is that the predictions are always checked against the original, and if any differences are found, they are precisely cataloged in the flac file. So, in our staircase example, assuming all the steps are of equal size and distance from each other, compre ssing that hypothetical setting to a flac file would be very efficient. The Flac encoder would be able to reliably predict the steps since they are uniform. If some steps are slightly longer than others, the prediction will fail, but as was mentioned previously the predictions are always being checked, so the errors will be caught and adjustments will be made. If the steps change lengths at regular consistent intervals, the predictions will adjust. This all ultimately leads to that imaginary staircase being represented in a much smaller size. If you convert it back to wav, the full staircase will be recovered down to the byte. The catch that pushes us back to reality is that real world audio is rarely a uniform staircase, especially when we get into the realm of recording. Electronic instruments can produce predictable patterns that Flac and other lossless formats can grab onto, but the waveforms produced by acoustic sounds are rarely if ever uniform enough to predict reliably . Thus, a fair bit of what goes into most Flac files is not the predictions, but the correction and compensation needed to continuously fix prediction errors. Still, a decent prediction algorithm will save a fair amount of space in all but the most random of sounds. So to conclude on this point, if you want to reduce the size of wav files, first try Flac, which will on average save half the original wav's space. From there, compressing to mp3 could be done for portable use while still keeping the flacs around on a larger HD. The only thing stopping you from compressing flac to mp3 directly would be if your converter cannot decompress flac files, and most respectable free converters or well-made audio editors can do that easily so that is not an issue.Phil wrote:Anything you do to an mp3 to make it smaller will reduce the quality of the sound.I have done that with Gold Wave, changing a stereo mp3 to mono or reducing the BPS from 44.1 to 22 k.You are getting sampling rate and bit rate confused. In lossless files like flac, and in uncompressed files such as wav, using a sampling rate of 44100 or 22050 or whatever you elect to use can make a fair bit of difference. But in formats like mp3, sampling rate is a lesser concern. While it has some importance, the number you should be looking at is the kbps rate or bit rate. Wav files have a bit rate too, but they frequently go into the megabits (mbps). In mp3 and other formats like it, their bit rates are much lower. Common bit rates are 128, 192, 256, and 320,. But there are many others. The lower the bit rate, the lower the quality, and the smaller the size.If you use lower bit rates, it is generally more efficient to use a lower sampling rate, since lower sampling rates force the mp3 format to analyze the data differently or to even use different algorithms. There are practical as well as technical reasons for this, but I won't go into them here because I don't want to overwhelm you guys as well as myself, as I try to figure out how to explain it with my limited technical knowledge. For now, I'll just leave it at this: Only look at the sampling rate when working
Re: How can I reduce the quality of audio files? hiIf I'm thinking write, you want to reduce the quality of your audio files. If so, just use an audio editing program. Many of them support batch processing, which will make your job easy. I've done it with sound forge. Audacity has it too. Keep in mind that the more you lower the size, the more you'll lose quality. How can I reduce the quality of audio files? I have some audio files that are of a very high audio quality; they are taking up a lot of space. Is there a convenient way of reducing the quality of these many files so that they take up less space? Re: audio files Hi SamI have a simple question hoping it to be answered: I noticed that most of your audio clips environment while in a room or similar is realistic, which is very awesome, but I know that its not a recording, theyre an audio files you put these effects on it to make it suitable with the general atmosphere, so which program did you use to make all of these ambiences? is it a vst or something? or just a certain program? if so, what is its name? Thank you.Have a nice day.
