I would either contribute to that, ask them to stop in a rather firm fashion, or just ignore it because I am about to finish whatever it is and would be able to contribute. I use my brother's noise-cancelling headphones and we don't have enough money to buy more expensive ones at the current time. Beats setting the volume super high so you can hear stuff properly.But as others have mentioned, this really is something teachers should be dealing with, and I'm sorry to hear they aren't. Perhaps you could try bringing it up to them, pointing out that if your classmates are so loud, then nobody can even listen to the them and learn anything, so it's a waste of class time.But definitely don't listen to those telling you to be an asshole. People saying that are pretty much always the types that would never be brave enough to do that themselves, but find it funny to give terrible advice to others. Because, unsurprisingly, being an asshole is going to make people hate you. But, if you are taking only text based notes on your laptop, may be you don't need speach output, may be you don't need sound at all. I often just keep earphones plugged in to the laptop, but the buds just lye on the table or my lap. I only use them when i have to navigate the interface or do some weird editing.Your muscle memory can help you with typing without any sound. It just needs a bit of practice. I even go on typing in Excel when my cost accounting teacher is dictating some stupid particulars very fast. Computers are very predictible, and if you have set it the proper way, that is no popups and things come up while you are typing, this will 100% work. The range of just what headphones can block out starts at nothing and ends at jet engines, so if you put the money in you can definitely do better.If you aren't using Espeak or Eloquence try those. how to deal with noise at school? this has been a pretty pressing concern for me in the past few weeks because, well I just don't have the mental capacity to deal with it. I've tried noise cancelling headphones, but still it's too loud, and going out of the classroom can work for until it's possible to find an alternative. Seriously, it doesn't help that I'm blind, do I really need to leave the friggin classroom?I feel like it's not the other student's fault though and it's mine for not being able to deal with it, but keeping on "turning up the volume" is gonna get damaging pretty fast.Any strategies which helped you guys to cope with loud noise in school/work environments?
