Re: is there a way for us to configure bios without cited help If somehow accessibility could be added to Bios, it would be greatly useful to blind peeps, including me.I remember that time when I deleted some wrong registry entry, and my laptop went all nuts and after a while, even refused to boot in to windows. Then while reinstalling Windows, I got to know that my hard drive is encrypted with bitlocker, which I was totally ignorant of until that point. With the help of a girl staying next door, I messed with Bios for 3 hours, but it was a very bad experience. Thankfully my bitlocker keys were stored in my microsoft account, so there was no data loss.I learnt a very important lesson that day, always check for bitlocker and whether it's on or off after you get a new laptop, and always store your bitlocker keys somewhere safe. Honestly, it shouldn't be on when it comes from the manufacturer and I believe that is indeed the general case. As far as I know, it's CLI-based, which I feel should probably make it a bit easier on the sighted help front since you could just look up valid commands and all the helper would be responsible for is reading console output. BIOS has become somewhat of a more general term we attribute to the part of a computer that handles things like boot order, hardware interfacing, etc. BIOS is a specific iteration of this general boot system. UEFI (if I understand correctly) is the next-gen iteration of BIOS, targeting a more universal approach to hardware interfacing regardless of what OS sits on top of it. This motherboard came with some quite inaccessible software, where you could change a lot of the Bios settings in Windows, and then restart the computer to change the settings.20 years ago, I heard about some motherboards which had a talking chip which speaks out any error statuses on the motherboard, but I haven't seen those in action.One of the good things about having switched to Mac computers is that I never have to care about the bios, because there is no bios at all. All settings can be changed either from the operating system, or from the recovery system. That's a big priority for me since I live alone, and have very limited access to sighted assistance. is there a way for us to configure bios without cited help hello.a few days ago, I came across something that brawt the old problem of not being able to configure bios our self to my attention, again.it seems that HP motherboards have a program that you can get the bios configurations to a text file with it, open that text file and change the options however you want, for exampleblinking light when sleeping.off.*on.or this.remote wakeup.*hard drive.local network.and you would be able to set the text file as the new configuration, restart the system and your changes would take effect.now I'm wandering, is there a similar way of configuration for other bios models?thank you!
