There are Chinese letters everywhere, so your screen reader isn't reading it.So when you hear a number, like 2? 7? so on and so forth, you hit f12 to copy that text. Then, alt tab to another window and hit ctrl comma. this, will transl ate what's on your clipboard and clip reader will read that translated text out to you.Be sure though, that you have switched windows. q-translate, will not work, while you're in the game window itself. So you need to alt tab.also, make sure you hit f12 first, before switching windows, to be sure that you've copied the text you wish to translate.Hope this helps. It runs, but not properly since you don't have audio.2. As soon as you run it, it just errors out and hangs up and does absolutely nothing.3. You can't just hit enter on it, like you would do a normal exe file, if you do it all goes strange and wonky and in most likelihood not work very well for you.If it's option 2, where it just errors out and hangs up doing nothing then... my best guess is restart your pc and try again. That's really rare.if it's option three, where it takes its sweet time to load, then errors out, then again it's something with your pc or locale.emulator. you should take a look at that. Also, if it's creating dmp files in that folder, you may have extracted/unzipped something you shouldn't have. See note below.If it's poor connection, you just have to exit the client and try again. It might be that the server is experiencing problems, or something is wrong with your net.Hope this helps.Oh one other note.In the city survival folder, there is another .rar folder.It's filled with a bun ch of question marks and such.Do not, and I repeat do not, extract/unzip/do anything with that folder. That folder is not meant to be touched. Leave it alone. If you did extract it by mistake, then... I'd recommend you start with a fresh copy. that will make the game go all weird and strange.Anyways, hope this rambling post helped at least a little. Re: Urban Survival: a life sim from china Oh [[wow]]!!!Okay so a lot of these questions I can't answer, because you guys are a lot further along than I am.but I can answer a few.1. Think of the map like a grid. When you use the arrow keys, (slowly) because it will move you from one building to the next, you'll hear a number. Like 2? or 7? Something like that. When you do, that menas you're at a location. Once you translate, if you wish to explore that a bit more, hit enter. Once you do that, you'll be taken to another menu.At the top of the menu, you'll hear a bunch of question marks and a number. That just shows you how many npcs are at a given place. If you arrow down from there, and translate, you can view each npc in turn.Quick note, when you arrow down you hear nothing. So you have to take it on good faith that you're arrowing down. The menus do not wrap, so if you keep translating the same thing after you've arrowed down, that means you've r eached the end. if you then want to view the npcs information, simply hit enter on it.You'll be taken to a menu that is numbered 1 through 5. You can translate those in turn, and click enter on the one you wish.Another note, when you're taken to a thing where it says "read only, muti-line" that can be translated. All you need to do is do ctrl A to select all, then ctrl c to copy it to clipboard. Then you can proceed to do ctrl comma to translate it.2. Yes, the q-translate does not work in the game window. Yoyuu unfortunately have to alt tab out, do a ctrl comma, then alt tab back over and so on and so forth.Also, for you English speakers, be sure, when you've started q-translate, go in to your system, click on the icon there, and change the language to English. Mine, for some really odd reason, is set to Polish by default. Be sure to do this each time you start q-translate. The change does not hold.3. the person who posted after me.. I can't quote your post here, you were having difficulty getting the game running.could you be more detailed in what you installed, did you install clip copy addon to NVDA?Also, did you set up the locale emulator, so that it will do it in Chinese rather than Japanese?Thirdly, when you run the game, you must go in to the context menu, click on the emulator submenu, then click on run with application profile. If you simply hit enter on it, things will go wonky, and probably try an do things in Japanese, which isn't good for anyone.Thirdly, did you put in the q-translate patch?Please let me know, and I will try an help.Sorry for the extremely long post, but I hope this helps someone.Oh one last thing, where pray tell is this dood I'm supposed to find out the specials for?Is it Moses? There is an .exe file in the game's folder. however when i try to run it with the chinese profile it lands on some dialog with a cancel button and crshes a short time after that. I then found a rar file and extracted it. in there is an exe file. it is some kind of installer and i installed the program. after installing this new program i noticed a "skill.exe" file. I opened it and now i am in a sort of window with three buttons and a changelog. Does anyone know what i need to do here?sorry for this lenghty post but i wanted to describe in detail what i did here. The game is in fact, strictly Chinese.However, it is playable. It's a bit tricky, you have to go through a couple steps to make it work, but it is playable. I myself am going through the tutorial type thing, where I'm meant to find different things in the city. I'm not well-versed in the game, but if any one has any beginner level questions, I will do my best to answer them. It is a pretty cool game though, as far as I've seen, I'd encourage people to give it a try. Even if you have to jump through a couple hoops. Re: life sim? So I stumbled on this thread, not sure if anyone's looking at it anymore. When I came across it, I was hoping more for like a game, rather than anything browser based. Most browser based stuff is either just too graphic, and even if it is 100 percent accessible, only go so far. I too, was hoping for something like the sims games. Second life, yeah I tried the client, but I never could figure out how to start or how to work any of it. However, hearing the replies, I take it, even with the client, it isn't all that accessible. Which is a true pity. I would have been open to giving it another try with some guideance. I checked their forumsand some people were a bit rude about the matter, one person even said something like 'its just how life is, deal with it everyone has somedisadvantage.' Re: life sim? from what I know, radegast's problem is that it doesn't really give you the experience of a life sim like you'd get if you actually played sl normally. in terms of completely accessible the only thing I can think of is alter ego, which is a text based gamebook like simmulation where you click on different buttons to receive scinarios which you need to respond to. As you age, your responsibilities will grow and you'll unlock special icons such as work, children, or marage. However it is a text based game, and thus has its limit. So after about two playthroughs you've basically seen everything the game has to offer. Desafio mortal would kinda come close to a life sim, but since that game is down and we have no idea whether it'll come back up, its on the back burner for now. Inform 7 can't easily handle arrays on objects/etc, the closest you can get to linking things together is via relationships. You can make many to many relationships, but it'd probably end up horribly labyrinthine and confusing. Coding A Life Sim In Inform 7
Coding A Life Sim In Inform 7 So I got the admin rights issue fixed, and now I'd like to wet my feet in programming. It seems ambitious, but I'd like to make a life sim, similar to the mainstream game virtual families, but with some unique features of my own. I've chosen inform 7, because of the natural language feature, but I don't know how to get started. I don't see anything in the manuals about creating a game of this design. Are there any inform 7 users out there that can help? Particularly in the choosing your character part of the game, as well as stats to keep up with whether you're married or single, how many children you have and what their ages are, and things like that.
