Re: reinstalling windows 8

I know this doesnt address your issue but if you can when you buy in the future try to get home premium instead of home basic, home premium is essentially the standard home version. Home basic is something MS has put out only in certain regions to try and make Windows more affordable but given your experience it obviously isnt particularly helpful for someone who has an idea of what theyre doing. If you have to remove bloatware I can also highly recommend CCleaner from Piriform, it has a pretty good registry cleaner which combines well with the usual deletion of the folder the bloatware was installed in. In fact CCleaner is excellent for just plain tidying up crap on your hard drive, and the same companys Defraggler program is an excellent defrag alternative and both are available for free for personal use.

Re: reinstalling windows 8

Shuteye, this could potentially be a crack even though the site says that this is for evaluation only.Several websites put it as a vvirus and that it can crash or install other trogens on the system.I understand your reasons having been in that position back in 2000.Thanks to opensource technology I have managed to distance myself from most commercial software bar games that is.As a rule its only free or opensource or shareware that is good enough.Ians, I think you may need your wireless driver from Toshiba, realtech gb efi ethane family and hd audio codecs are on realtech.com in downloads.synaptics.com should have a big install for your mouse drivers.amd driver update if you search on google and get the auto detecter should fix your display.intel driver update should handle your cpu, and other intel stuff.Even so there will be customised intel interfaces that you may or may not find on the updater, there will also be a
bsp; few things I havnt needed to get, your realtech wireless and usb card reader are somewhere but I was never needing to get those. There will be drivers generic for hdd protection and other censors but your webcam may not work and a few other Toshiba things.Have you rung Toshiba support and asked for drivers for 8.1 for your unit and suggestions for that.I am sorry to be a killjoy but you really should have what your system came with because that is usually the best.even if its home basic. On that note I have not seen anyone using home basic at all.I have always had pro oses never used home not for years anyway.

Re: reinstalling windows 8

Hi eans.Ok, this may sound stupid, but when you boot your system up, with sight hold down 0.That is press and hold 0 then turn on your computer. There should be a recovery program.Reguardless of what you have you should restore back to the factory defaults of that program.Drivers wise.the only issue you may have is getting the realtech customised model of their wireless wlan ae 8223aen drivers because the model does not exist on realtech site so I assume its either discontinued or only made for that system or for Toshiba.Your network drivers that being the realtech gb efi family, realtech ad audio driver those you can get.If you search for intel driver update and amd driver update you should be able to get compatable versions of hd audio display and cpu drivers.windows update may have extra stuff to but please concidsder running whatever your recovery partition has on it and staying with it.even if you have to remove a lot
of bloatware, because you will get access to everything. If your system came with win8 or could run 8 check your box or search round you may or may have an update disk which will update your recovery partition as well.saying that I thought you could refresh windows 8 installs.Myself Id just reformat and use windows7.

hi,I will not switch back to the home basic version of win 7 I payed for win 8 and I prefer it to the crappy home basic win7anyway I deleted the recovery partition since I dont need all that useless stuff taking up space on my hard drivewould using driver packs be a good ideathere is a program called driver pack solution that contains drivers for tens of thousands of devices and detects and installs the appropriate versions for your osor I could always manually hunt for drivers like chipset, sound wireless bluetooth etc

Re: reinstalling windows 8

The nice thing about Windows 8 is that in most cases once an internet connection is established, it will automatically fetch any needed drivers and install them without fuss. This probably wont work with some older hardware, but you should at least have sound and be able to google around for anything that wasnt installed automatically. Also just a side note, most drivers that say they are for Windows 7 should work on 8, be aware though that the same is not true for, say, XP drivers on Windows 7. If something doesnt install, with an error that the Windows version is unknown or some such, try playing with the program compatibility page in the file properties. There was a trick to get the Windows 8.1 iso using the setup installer and youre Windows 8 product key, however Im no longer sure of the steps youd need to take or if it even works anymore; knowing Microsoft theyve probably patched it. All the patching is pretty ridiculous, but ah well.
If you want to free up some space afterwords, at an admin command prompt typedism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup /resetbaseand when thats done, delete everything in the c:\windows\software distribution folder.HTH
