I'm not a serious book reader and I just read for fun. Finished the audio book last night and I had only one problem with it, too many pop culture references. I liked the story in general and the ending as well

Re: who all read ready player two?

I just finished the book and I have to give it a 3/5 like most others here. I particularly found the ending fascinating and will be thinking about that for a very very long time. My only gripe was the virtue signalling. That crap is extremely annoying and unnecessary in my view. If you want to virtue signal, write books specifically about said topics, don't cram it down my throat in content where it isn't really necessary. Sadly, this is all too common in almost everything produced today, so meh. I just grit my teeth and bear it. It's either that or ignore most entertainment.

Re: who all read ready player two?

11 The MC was a dick at the beginning of the book for sure. It is my view that that changes a little bit when he gets stuck in the game with the knowledge that his actions may get people killed. That sort of gets hammered in by another saying something along the lines of "after seeing the matrix you really thought that hooking your brain into a computer was the right thing to do?" The author could had explored that a bit more in my view point. 13 I have heard that it can, to some degree, be compared to snow crash and books like that. This book is not on the vary top of my must read books list.

OK guys, I think I'm going to read this book after I finish the one I am reading for some time now. Btw, for some of you, as they are in kind of the same category, can these books be compared to laundry files? Based on what I heard on here, laundry files kind of focuses on the same things in a very general way of speaking, but it's, in my opinion, more worked upon, especially the plot and the more complex characters.

Re: who all read ready player two?

I enjoyed the hell out of it, especially with SAO being referenced (I'm a huge fan of SAO Abridged). Is it perfect? Of course not. And it's no high art either. I kind of rolled my eyes when I heard there was going to be a sequel, but I expected it to at least be a fun read if nothing else. And that it was, although it also didn't suck quite as much as I thought it would in terms of story, so there's that. 3.5 out of 5, I guess, if I had to give a (relatively objective) number rating, though I generally don't like those. Subjectively though, 5 out of 5 LOL.

Re: who all read ready player two?

I might check out the second book if I want a break from more serious stuff, but to be honest, the first wasn't really good enough for me to  expect too much. It had lists of pop culture references, albeit more those which Earnist cline seemed to find interesting (nothing about Nintendo, or about none american eighties phenomena like Knight mare). And the hero was an absolute succeedinator aka mary sue, and confident to the point of actually being quite an arse hole to the point that I didn't really care about his success.I did enjoy some of the games and challenges, and of course those references like Zork and Wargames that I got, however mostly it seemed more reliant on cramming in as many references as humanly possible in hope to hit the nostalgia genes than actually concentrating on writing a coherent plot, world or characters. I enjoyed reading it the once, but it's not something I really see myself going back to in the future. If I was rating out of ten I'd probably give the first book a 6, maybe 6.5. So I might check out book 2, but I can't exactly say it's too much of a priority, not compared to stuff like rhythm of war for example.

Re: who all read ready player two?

I'd rate book 1 higher than book 2, probably 4 or 5 out of 5 because of the novelty factor. Or maybe it was just that I read it when I was younger, I don't know. Book 2 just kind of plays out the thread in a way that seems more geared toward getting money out of the franchise than anything.

As for Ready player one, the movie is better from my point of view. As for the tech in these books, we are closer to the glasses in one than we are from the ONI thing in two. And that is mainly because we have not been able to come that close to reading the brain that well yet.

I only have heard about the film adaptationof the first, however I didn't red the ready player books. I will have to read and give it a rating, however university is taking my time of reading long books, but I will read a medium portion of it.P.S. A tech company called Virtuix is creating a device that does kind of the same like in Ready Player one: it's called Omni One. I think that it almost got early than expected...

Re: who all read ready player two?

Around 3 out of 5 sounds about right. To me, some of the ruff edges in the first book are not quite as ruff in this one. I would say that as long as you do not expect it to be on the same level as Peter F. Hamilton in the writing department and don't mind it making up for some of this via all the refferences along with the storry line mainly being about game play, then it would be a ok read. Of course, the interface describe in this book seems like it came from other SF books and or movies. Maybe a 3 or a 3.5 out of 5. skail of five. it is a  few points better then the first book, but it is not a four out of five. intertaining, but there are other books better.

Re: who all read ready player two?

I'd probably give it like 3/5. Not too original, not too great, but not terrible. It was fine to spend a couple hours on. I think everybody expected it to suck, and I don't think it sucked as much as we all feared. There are some people who think it did though.

who all read ready player two?

Ready player two came out on the 24th of this month. Who all read said book, and what does everyone think of said book? I read ready player one via audio, but I read ready player two via TTS from bookshare in voice dream reader. Don't know if it is just the difference of reading this one from the first or what, but seems a bit better written. Of course, I could had missed things. Took a bit for things to start happening. The author sort of through the disabled a bone, but I kind of question how much research was done in this area. Yes, difference vids and music and the like was refference in this one too. Add in the bad AI, and it is sort of interesting... On the other hand, the VR aspect of this one seems like it came from other sources. Let’s just say that the interface found in the vault is the kind of interface I would love to have to play different computer games and the like. Of course, there is one major down side to said interface. Those who read this book would understand why. Spoiler alert, hooking your brain into the computer is a bad mistake if the computer messes up.
