Re: An apology In post 1 you see that you are a mess of problems. How do I know? Because I am a mess of problems too. Every teen is a mess of problems. Just to list a few problems several teens have: impulsive, selfish, power hungry, emotionally unstable, and don't listen. Obviously not every teen has all of these problems, but these are very common ones. We try to fix our mistakes, but our age knocks us back down over and over. You can do small things to improve such as reading articles of how to improve, and taking walks to cool off, but as far as modifying behavior, no matter the desire to change, our age will resist a lot of the skills we are trying to improve or develop. You will still make progress, but your age will heavily resist it. That is just apart of being a teen. I'm not saying you shouldn't try to modify your behavior at all, I encourage you to modify it. But know that until mid 20s, maybe a little earlier or later, your age does resist a lot, so be patient. Reading about improving behavior and taking walks is more than 90% of teens do, which already makes you more ahead of improving yourself. So next time you are frustrated because you do not think you are improving fast enough, just remember about being patient with your age, and doing those 2 things is already putting you ahead. This is what I do.Another thing you should do is get out of your room often. I don't mean go out with friends, I don't mean find a job, just get out of your room. That's the place where these self destructive thoughts live and grow. Have a conversation with someone in your room and outside your room and notice the difference. You will be much more open to changing and new ideas when you are outside your room.I will attach my folder of articles in a db link below, so you can use them yourself. Re: An apology I don't know much about mason, but I have no room to judge his level of maturity, emotional stability, or ability to learn. Mid 20s can still have those same effects, it is a definite thing for teens, but could still be common for 20s. When you are in your 20s you are figuring out how to navigate this world, so the stress is not easy, and that may induce the recently dismissed teenage behaviors. Can't prove that, but it is a possibility. And for blind people navigating in this world is even harder, so the stress is a lot higher. I didn't mean to get off topic, just wanted to note that those behaviors may still be occuring due to stress and without knwoing how to handle it, he falls back on teenage like thinking because that's what he has known for longer. The reason I have been ignoring that fact that I haven’t accepted blindness is because I’ve been holding on to the less than 1% chance of getting it back. My optic nerve is damaged, and glaucoma detached my retinas, so there is no hope in getting my sight back. But I have held on to that less than 1%, and that is causing my whole life to spiral out of control. I need to abandon it.I have heard many stories of people who have lost their sight, and when the technology came available, they preferred not to have it. I always disagreed with them, because look at how many societal problems we face! BUt I never considered the personal damage they experienced. Maybe they held onto that 1%. Maybe they were afraid they would gain their vision and then lose it again, just to have the scale of damage double or triple. Maybe they could only get a tiny speck of sight back, which would probably be my case.The question in the end is: is it really worth it to damage my whole personal life with a 1% dream that might only recover the smallest bit of light, not enough to make a difference? Maybe I would heal alll the way, but that is not likely with detached retinas and damage to the optic nerve. I have been trying to ignore everyone’s warnings.But even after all of this, it feels wrong to give up the 1%. It has destroyed my life, but somehow it makes me feel like I gave up on getting sight back. How can I accept it, and live with that acceptance? Can I have everyone’s story please? I need help eliminating visual schizophrenia and synesthesia visual Schizophrenia, I see colors in my mind. My brain automatically assigns objects a color, and I live in color, but only in my mind, I can’t see anything for real. Schizophrenia makes people do things they would never do, although this isn’t a voice talking in my ear, this is a constant reminder that I don’t have sight, but I’m forced to live with the memories of living in it.Sound synesthesia, every sound has a color, even every letter of the alphabet has a color. When my phone talks, every word appears in my head, with every letter having color. Every sound like VoiceOver sounds and app sounds have a color, even ringtones have a color. This synesthesia turns into the visual Schizophrenia that haunts me. At first, I was glad to have sight and glad to retain it, but now, it is a curse that I have to live without sight but have it shoved in my face forever, every second. And I’m had life threatening side effects because of it. I want to get rid of it all, I don’t want to remember color anymore. Too much of a good thing becomes a bad thing, and color has gone well over its limits!How can I train my brain to stop automatically coloring everything? How can I hear sound without turning it into something visual? Sound is not suppose to be color! My mind is simple, it does not multitask well, and it needs at least 85% of my attention on something to really think about it. Maybe that number is higher. But say for example, 25 people talking in one room, and I am talking to a friend or listening to an article, since there is so much noise, my mind will be more focused on my friend’s part of the conversation or the article’s subject rather than the color of the friend or screen reader’s voice and it will also prevent words from coming into my head, which eliminates the slide show of color I would see there too. Multitasking such as writing while listening to something is good too, except I would be focused on writing which brings in more color every character I type. So perhaps multitasking with things that do not bring as much color would be better. But using color to eliminate color isn’t going to help, only make worse, so I have to study how much color is in every activity I do.If anyone has any tips for dampening color in any activity they do, please let me know, I would like to dampen both synesthesia and visual schizophrenia as much as possible. I think change is possible, but I have no clue how to get there. Accepting blindness? Fixing this addiction I have? I have no clue how I can change it. But I know it is possible. I have tried to break the addiction cycle many times, sometimes more successful than others. You can think of it 2 ways. First way, every time you fail it damages your credibility and weakens your ability to do better next time. That makes sense, because you are use to getting knocked down, so your motivation decreases. But, way 2, each time you try, you are working the muscle of strength. You know how when you stretch for 10 seconds you can reach a certain distance to your toes, but the next time you do it, you can reach a little further? That's what I am talking about. Now for that to happen, it requires that muscle to be used often. You can work at it, but then neglect it and then it goes back down. But just like you get sore after workout and stretching becomes exhausting and painful, so does fighting the addiction. You break the cycle, then you rest for a little, then you try to break again. But you are still sore from putting all of that energy into the last cycle break, so this one isn't as well performed. And that's the problem I have. Is getting sore after a workout and not being able to push through a second one to continue strengthening that muscle. As for accepting blindness? It's been 10 years, I'm hoping one day in my 20s or something I magically accept it, because that is a huge huge issue I have trouble understanding that I can change. embarrassed to hold the white cane I already know the type of feedback I'm going to receive. Then the question asked, so why bother? Because I don't care about my reputation on here. I've already stated several times I need to accept blindness, but this is the opposite, so reputation out the window. With that out of the way, the issue.All a white cane does is detects things before you do. It can be objects in your path, or topography on the ground. No, that's not all. The white cane has given us a public image. And I don't know about you, but I'm scared of being represented by public images. Some people can get over that fact, that they have something that automatically ties them to a public image, but there are others who wish to remain free from a public image and assign their own image to those who they want to share it with, and not have an image to those who they don't wish to share their image with.So getting back to what the white cane does. It just detects objects. It also takes away a hand's ability to do other things. There has to be another way right? I mean it is just detecting objects for you. I could just have a camera around my front, back, and sides pointing in every direction. Yeah I would be putting on a full suit, and eventually it would get me a public image, but it wouldn't be the same public image. When people see the white cane, they automatically think, they need help. My personal opinion is that the stick we have doesn't give anyone confidence. Think about it. It is a small stick, and nothing more. But if you had cameras on your body, people would say, oh, those cameras can show them detection of objects, plus, it looks may cooler than holding a stick. And, hands free. I already know the design he cameras would have so that all angles would be shown, and it would give vibrating feedback. If you want more details on how it would work I will give them.Yeah, these cameras would be expensive, that's why suits aren't available to replace canes. But I would much rather have that than a white cane, because I think the public image would make people a lot more confident in us. They would see the cameras and not a stick. They would have a better understanding of how the cameras help us, since a stick gives no information as to how it helps us. They would be more amazed, but also have a higher confidence that we know what we are doing. I just wanted to see if other people had the idea of replacing the cane as well, because we have been using canes for a very very long time. Misspelled words on mac So NVDA lets you know you misspelled a word after you press space. That helps me as a lot, because I'm too lazy to check my typing as I go and after I'm done. another topic of not accepting blindness I sound like the most tortured soul ever when I say this. So here we go.I don't accept blindness but I have to numb those emotions or else I will go insane. But then something happens and my emotions are no longer numbed, so then I have to numb them again.But this cycle happens a billion times. And guess what? I'm fine with the program, aside from having to chosose create new document when launching instead of having an option to automatically create a new word document. Synesthesia is still color, just inside the mind instead of outside. And I think this question is different for every person, due to the different types of synesthesia, schizophrenia, and other weird conditions. Heck probably even some physical conditions could probably effect how clear the mind is. Blind Myth Hypnosis So last week my dad met this woman who apparently does hypnotist work. She told my dad something, and I'm wondering if it is actually true. She said that blind people would be good hypnotists because their mind is clear, because they can't see anything.I doubt that's true. Because we still have hear, touch, smell, and taste. So even though we can't use sight we can still focus on something just as hard as people can with sight. Now, here's my question. Why do people think our mind would be more clear? Wouldn't our mind be even less clear since hypnosis is just eyes closed? We already don't focus on sight, we focus on the other 4, so wouldn't we be extremely focused on the other 4 so much that our mind is even less clear than sighted people because they don't focus on anything but sight?I thought this was an interesting question, so I wanted to ask what y'all think. NVDA clip copy add-on not working
NVDA clip copy add-on not working I am running nvda 2017.3 and the add-on worked fine. But a few months ago I had to reinstall windows, now, the clip copy add-on does not work for some reason.Update, it doesn't look like the clip copy works with 2017.3. Should I completely uninstall NVDA and reinstall it? Is there something about the newer version that is preventing it from working? Because I didn't completely uninstall then install the older one, I just had it reinstall the files the old one used. Could there be something blocking the add-on?
