It's not a Portuguese Restaurant, it's run by the same  Portuguees American
family that opened it  in 1894,  and I've never met anyone who's eaten there
that didn't love it.

Their specialties are the Cream of artichoke soup made from the artichoke
they grow, the cioppino, with the portuguese touch of cumin in the broth,
and the ollalieberry pie.

Don't know where people get the idea it's a Portuguese restaurant.

Thank you to everyone on the list who replied to my query on the birth record 
for my Grandmother FLAVIN.

To clarify, when I refer to Beira, I mean Beira, Mocambique, which was a 
Portuguese colony until 1975. According to my grandmother's South African 
baptism, she was born on 2nd June 1914 (but it doesn't stipulate where she was 
born), and although as an adult she lived and died in SA as a SA citizen, she 
was only baptised in SA in 1922, which means she was about 8 years old at that 
time - quite unusual, implying she might not have been in the SA at her birth. 
As her birth record is not held in SA or can't be found here in SA, I started 
to think she was not born here, and therefore I began to look elsewhere. First 
of all, as her father was born in Ireland, I of course searched the Irish birth 
register - and she could not be found there. Then I found evidence in ships 
passenger lists that her father, and maybe her mother and herself too, were 
frequent travellers between SA and Beira, so I thought it might be possible she 
was born there, hence my query on the
 availability of a Beira (Mocambique) birth register. I have an idea that she 
lived there for a few years, and even that my father might have been born 
there, as I also cannot find his birth details in SA. In case anyone has access 
to such a Beira birth register and could search it for me, he was Anthony 
William Firmani, born 17 Feb 1933. (again, not a Portuguese name, because she

I am looking for my end of line Manoel Arruda b. 1710 and Maria
Resendes b. 1715 both in Nortinho, Sao Pedro Sao Miguel Island. I dont
have parents for Manoel Arruda but
Maria Resendes is the daughter of Francisco Pereira died before 27/jun/
1737 and Margarida Costa. Maria Resende also married Joao Raposo in 12/
mar/1740 in Nordestinho, Sao Pedro, Ilha De Sao Miguel,Acores,
Portugal

Manoel Arruda and Maria Resende, married in jun 27/1737 in Achada
Grande, Ilha de Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal
They had the children:
1- Jose Pereira da Costa b. 1735 Freguesia de São Pedro,Ilha de São
Miguel,Açores,Portugal married to
Francisca Ignacia Rosa born in Sao Miguel, Graciosa Island by 1752 and
died in Desterro/SC/Brazil in 27/mar/1819. Jose died also in Desterro
in 23/ja/1803

2- Manoel Arruda Jr. born in 4/jan/1736 in Vera Cruz, Ponta Delgada,
Ilha Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal, and
had another child  Arruda.

Please let me know if anyone know about these people
they are my 6th freat grandparents.
